Out of the handful of stores I went to, this was by far my most least favorite experience. First, I was asked how many dresses I had tried on, and after giving a response, I was told that trying on that many dresses makes things more confusing. In the meantime, I had felt like I had narrowed down exactly what I liked in a dress and was able to provide a clearer description as a result. Regardless of my description of a dress, dresses were pulled that I immediately knew I didn't like... but I tried them on anyway because I felt like I had to. When I mentioned the type of dress I liked, I was told that it wasn't flattering on my body type (although I've done numerous google searches to know which dress is most flattering on my body and trying them on confirmed it. Either way, it's up to the bride to determine that for herself).
Inside the dressing room, I was instructed to take off my bra. I'm a more private woman and said that I had a strapless bra that I could put on. The consultant said not to wear anything since I'd be in and out of dresses. I should have just put on the bra anyway but felt obligated not to. For the remainder of the time, I was standing topless in the fitting room while waiting for her to hook the dress back onto the hanger (which felt like an eternity being that I was so uncomfortable) and remove the other dress from the hanger. I had to climb into the dress that she held in the air, where I would step on layers of fabric, and then the dress was tugged from underneath my feet. For some, that may seem like not a big deal... but for me, it was.
Instead of standing on a platform (because they did not have one), I was told to put on blue high heeled shoes. (Who knows how many other women have put those exact same shoes on and how often they get cleaned?) I do not have strong ankles and made a statement that I'd rather just go on my tippy toes since my ankles are weak. When I put on another dress, I was instructed to put the heels back on again. I'm not one to be confrontational, so I did, even though I had JUST said I felt like I would sprain an ankle. I left the store feeling uncomfortable, not listened to very well, and overall disappointed. When I shared this story with my friend, she was laughing because she said she had the SAME exact experience at this store and even mentioned the blue shoes! I don't often write reviews, but I just feel like this store could make simple improvements. To start, 1) getting a platform so the women don't have to put on heels that many other women have put on, 2) allow the women to decide if they want to wear a bra or not on their own, 3) and listen to what they like. I get that it's fun to find a dress that is opposite of what the bride is looking for or what you think would look best, but if each dress that is being pulled is something that she says she doesn't like... maybe just limit it to 1 or 2 curveballs instead.
I know that the women want to find brides their dresses, and I believe that they try hard. I do not mean to sound fresh or harsh, but I was so deeply saddened by this experience that I wanted to make these suggestions to help improve their service. read more
