I'm no fashionista but what I've learned from the wedding-planning process is that I am surprisingly very picky. When searching for my wedding gown, I went to 12 different bridal shops in 3 different cities. Eventually, I found a dress I LOVED at the Pronovias store on 5th Avenue in NYC. It was soft, romantic, and had great movement. However, because I spotted it at the flagship store in Manhattan, I felt it was likely overpriced (not to mention - I felt somewhat uncomfortable in that stuffy bridal shop.) After doing some Google searching, I contacted Rana Bridal in Englewood, NJ. Not only did Rana have the same dress at a better price - she was available that same day for me to come in and try it on. After taking the subway to a ferry to an Uber, I made it to Rana's shop. She was pleasant from the start and helped me decide on a few tweaks to the dress. I wasn't sure about a nude skirt lining, though I liked the detail in the nude bodice. She assured me she could swap out the lining. The original dress had a higher neck, but Rana told me she could tweak the lace to give me a lower cut. In short, that first afternoon with Rana was WELL worth the extra effort to get out to New Jersey and we ordered the Pronovias dress that week! In the months following I had several more fittings with Rana. Her shop was always clean and organized, our appointments always started on our time, and she was always very friendly and accommodating (she even picked me up at the ferry once or twice!). Above all, Rana's handiwork was simply perfection. She changed out the lining, trimmed the many, MANY layers of my skirt to the perfect length, and tweaked the bodice until we were both happy with the new design. She even helped me pick out a veil on Etsy and trimmed that to better suit my look. In the end, my dress fit like a glove and I could NOT have been happier. Even now, months after my wedding, I'm emotional just thinking about it! Getting married is such a fun, exciting time, but of course it can be stressful! I was so grateful that I never needed to worry about my dress. You are in good hands working with Rana. I cannot recommend her enough!

A friend suggested to go to Rana Bridal after she had an amazing experience there for her wedding. Rana Bridal was the first (and last) bridal shop that I went to. The first time I walked in the front door the owner, Rana, welcomed both my mom and I with a welcome heart. I tried on several of the shops beautiful dresses and could not believe the reasonable prices that the store had to offer. I went with the third dress that I could not get out of my mind. Throughout the whole alterations process, Rana wanted to make sure everything fit perfect on me. She was not going to stop until I was happy with the way my dress looked on me. Other places give you only a max of 2 dress fittings, but with Rana I had 4. Going to a small bridal store like this one made my whole experience with picking out my dress incredible. I was the only one in the store trying on my dress and was not crowded by 8 other brides. The relationship that I gained with Rana was truly amazing. Stop looking and go to Rana Bridal!

Rana is a miracle worker! Although I purchased my dress elsewhere (I was looking for a very specific style, found it right away), I knew I had to find the perfect seamstress to make it look right. A few friends and people I know had recommended Rana in the past and I saw her work- I knew she was the right choice to go to. My dress needed to be altered from every angle (it was too long, too wide, and just too big even thought it was already a size 0!). I added a sash which needed to be sewn on and made a last minute hem change (1 week before my wedding!) and Rana made it all happen and gladly! She genuinely cared about how my dress would on my big day. Andddd my dress came out PERFECT! I cannot thank her enough for accomplishing all that she did. I would definitely recommend her to any and every bride.

Rana is amazing!! I came to Rana within 1 week of my wedding for alterations. She graciously fit me in right away, even though she was extremely busy. She did an amazing job with my dress and was very flexible to ensure I was perfectly happy with the fit. Since I bought a runway model dress, she even got it back to me earlier than expected so that I could get the dress dry cleaned. Rana is very patient, kind, and great at what she does. Would highly recommend. Thank you Rana!!

When I first walked into Vera's I was greeted so warmly by the reception, namely Irene. The shop was super clean and looked fairly organized. I was paired with Tiara and I showed her a few images of dresses I tried on before with parts that I loved in each one. She picked out 3 dresses for me. What an eye she has! When I tried on the first one, I KNEW IT WAS THE ONE! It's like watching Say Yes To The Dress when brides just feel it's "the one". I tried the other two anyway and after both, I still felt like I needed to try the first one again. Joanna is a magician. The dress was a size 10 and she needed to take it in to a size 4/6. The final fitting was so surreal, the dress fit me like a glove. My dress is intricate with beading and lace and it's crazy how she was able to alter all of it seamlessly!! Because the dress was a floor sample, and not my size, it was at a better price point than a lot of other boutiques. I felt very valued here compared to other boutiques. If I had to recommend a bridal shop, I would highly recommend VERA'S!

Even more shocking, they asked us to pay additional money despite this being entirely their fault. Because of this situation, it also disrupted and complicated our scheduled appointment with the alterations shop. I will say I had a great experience with hair/makeup and dress but photography was such a horrible experience. We saw sample pictures beforehand and decided to go with Rahel but the pictures we actually got were no where near what we were given. I will preface and say that we were pre-warned that we were double booked that day and were not going to get the main photographer, however, I am not just upset at the quality of photos but just the lack of professionalism that followed. We ended up taking studio photos that day with the main photographer which actually were edited and came out nice, however, the pictures taken at the venue were terrible with the other photographers. Many of the pictures looked like we were inside a club due to horrible flash. Many pictures we were washed out with flash directly in our faces. Not just that but barely none were edited. We just got a photo dump of nearly 7 gbs of just raw pictures. We hired photography to get professional pictures but we just ended up with a photo dump of just raw photos and terrible ones at that. The worst part is I tried emailing the group about my concerns 3 times with NO response and am just amazed at their unprofessionalism with their clients. I guess once they have your money they just have no regard for you. If at least there was some dialogue about the situation I don't think I would have been as upset but the fact that before the wedding they were very responsive to the silence that followed afterwards is just what is very upsetting.

My wedding was June 27th. She had my dress since April 30th initially she scheduled me for two alterations and then the pick up on June 21st final fitting was supposed to be May 30th. Everything seemed to be going fine until on May 30th the dress seemed to fit well overall just needed a few final touches near the chest (turns out It fit because It was still pinned, I didn't notice initially, I had to go back to pictures and realized this after the fact) because she said on the 30th It needed some more alterations to get the chest area right, she scheduled me for a 3rd final fitting on June 13th. When I'm walking out my door to go to her on June 13th, she calls to tell me she needs to leave as she has a medical Emergency, okay feel better I say, call Me next week to reschedule. When I don't hear from her by Wednesday the 18th, I call her and she says "I'm dealing with this medical issue right now what do you need is there a deadline?" Wild question to ask given the fact that she should have down that my wedding was the following week.. I politely remind her that my wedding is the 27th and I was leaving the 26th so I really needed It by this weekend. She agreed to see me earlier on in the day on the 21st this was I can pick It up that evening if any additional alterations are needed (by the way I later found out that her medical emergency was that she got two teeth pulled as per her report on the next fitting day) Okay this is where things really get out of control. I go in on the 21st and I am SWIMMING in my dress (this is when I didn't realize until after the fact that this is because the last fitting I had on the 30th the dress only fit because It was pinned AKA she did 0 work) she goes "OH MY GOD you lost so much weight WOW what have you been doing you lost several dress sizes, I need to do more alterations, this is too much work to do in a day, I'll work with you but you have to work with me you have to come back to pick up Monday night" I left scratching my head, I really did not think I lost weight at all let alone 2-3 dress sizes in two weeks but she had me convinced that my hot yoga I've been doing made my dress no longer fit, until my friend and I examined the pic from the last fitting. Once I realized she just straight up lied because she didn't do work and instead used my weight as an excuse, I started panicking. My MOH agreed to go with me Monday, we had a game plan.. go in, really hope the dress is done do my Fitting wait until dress is in bag in hand and then call her out. But then It didn't fit. Yes the alterations on the side were finally done but the chest area remained very loose. I think it's important to add, I'm a C cup, very average breast size there's really no reason to have trouble with this if you're a professional seamstress. Anyway, she says to me "yup like I've said since the beginning, this dress still won't fit your chest right, I will have to add straps, it's very normal, tons of brides do It " mind you, this is now 4 days before my wedding and no she never once mentioned straps to me until this appointment. I said absolutely not, you're not touching my dress another second. She responds "well I know weddings can be stressful but I have mentioned straps since the very beginning (she didn't) and it's not my fault you lost all this weight" that's when I decided to call her out on knowing she was lying then she started screaming at me in her shop like truly screaming at a bride 4 days before her wedding when she messed up this brides wedding dress.. It was a nightmare. Her mom comes out from the back room and assures me she can fix It in under an hour and I can watch. My MOH and I sit there awkwardly as her mom stitches the breast area a little more and makes It a little better It was doable I guess with like fabric tape if I wore It as is. Selene comes back after her mom fixes It to do the 'final fitting' and to show my MOH the terrible bustle she did. During this time she tells me.. don't walk backwards you will trip. Selene at the end goes "you made me nervous before can we hug It out?" It was truly the weirdest situation I honestly just wanted to get out of there so I just Said OK and played nice at the end, I wanted to remove myself from any more conflict and stress. She didn't charge me the final payment due to "misunderstandings" according to her, but her deposit was half so I still paid her $390 and I'm pissed about It.

At my initial appointment, I clearly explained the alterations I needed: unlining the bodice, taking in the dress, adding lace to the neckline, adding a bow at the waist, and adding a CRINOLINE TO THE SKIRT. I was quoted FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS, which already felt excessive. When I returned to review everything, the owner denied ever agreeing to unline the bodice and made me feel like I had imagined the conversation. It was incredibly frustrating and honestly upsetting. Only after I pointed out that it was written in THEIR OWN NOTES did they reluctantly agree to include it. Trying to adjust the scope to reduce costs turned into an even worse experience. When I called to REMOVE the crinoline from the skirt and asked for an updated price breakdown, I was met with SHOCKING hostility. The assistant raised her voice, spoke to me in an extremely disrespectful way, and told me to come pick up my dress if I was "trying to negotiate," which I was NOT. I was simply trying to make the alterations more affordable. She refused to provide an ITEMIZED breakdown and instead doubled down on being aggressive and dismissive. She also told me that if I removed the skirt alteration, the bodice alone would cost TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS and that she would NOT adjust pricing to reflect the reduced work. When I went to pick up my dress, the same assistant avoided eye contact and denied the entire interaction. A coworker who overheard the phone call came with me and confirmed EXACTLY how I was spoken to. Even then, there was NO apology, NO accountability, and NO attempt to make things right. The lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic respect is honestly SHOCKING, especially for a business working with brides during such an important time. I left feeling disrespected, dismissed, and completely unsupported. This was one of the WORST customer service experiences I've ever had. DO NOT go here unless you are prepared for a stressful and deeply disappointing experience. (Response to her comment below) At no point was I unwilling to follow professional guidance or understand the complexity of the work. I was very clear from the beginning about what I wanted done, including unlining the bodice, adding lace, a bow, and a crinoline to the skirt. I also understood that certain elements might be more labor-intensive, which is exactly why I asked questions and tried to adjust the scope. The issue was not simply pricing or feasibility -- it was HOW I was treated. When I called to remove one of the requested alterations to make the cost more manageable, I was not "shifting scope" irresponsibly, I was trying to work within a budget. During that call, I was spoken to in a way that was completely unacceptable. Your assistant raised her voice, was openly hostile, and refused to provide an ITEMIZED breakdown when I asked for one. I was told to come pick up my dress if I had questions, which is not a professional or respectful way to handle a client. To be clear, I did NOT walk away because of the complexity of the work. I chose not to move forward because of the lack of professionalism and the way I was treated. A coworker of mine overheard the phone call and accompanied me when I picked up my dress, and can confirm exactly how that conversation went. I understand that not every project is the right fit, and I respect a business declining work when necessary. However, that does not excuse dismissive or hostile communication with a client, especially when simply asking for clarity on pricing. I stand by my review. Brides deserve transparency, respect, and professionalism throughout the process -- regardless of whether the work ultimately moves forward or not.
