I was so happy with how my dress turned out during my wedding. I bought my dress at one of the main dress distributers in Manhattan but had heard horrible things about their alteration department. So as soon as I got my dress, I went hunting online and found Wonhee. She is extremely patient and nice and obviously knows what she is doing. We brought her not only my wedding dress but a reception dress as well as my mother's dress. She recommended that she change the buttons on the back as they were too flimsy and gave me a beautiful bustle and altered straps. My mother and I were worried that it was too tight but she knew what she was doing because in the end it looked beautiful and fitted and didn't put too much pressure on the delicate straps to hold the dress up. She brings her expertise and makes recommendations that would never even come into my mind. For that, i am extremely thankful for her guidance and how she put our minds at ease. Wonnee is the best! I brought her a dress from davids bridal, which I thought fit me well although it was somewhat snug in my hips. The davids bridal people told me I just needed to a hem and the sleeves shortened. Wonnee has an expert eye and immediately saw that the torso of the dress was too long for me and the waist of the dress was falling on my hips which is why it was snug there. The people at davids bridal didn't mention that at all! Once she adjusted the torso to raise the waist of the dress, the dress was actually loose on me and had to get taken in a few sizes. You could tell she's had so much experience with wedding dresses and knows the correct way to fix whatever issue you might have. To top it all off, the week of my wedding I had lost some weight and my dress was loose- I was panicking but she took it in one last time for me days before the wedding to make sure I looked perfect. Had my wedding dress (which I purchased online) altered at the shop and couldn't be happier with the outcome. The dress was basically too big and too long and it had to be fit into my petit frame. Wonee was always pleasant and amazing. Gave me great advices and feedback on the dress. In addition, I purchased a vail from her which matched my dress perfectly. We order it and it came less than a week time. I had to wait few months between some appointments because of family stuff and they were very accommodating and didn't rush me to pick up my dress. TL;DR Amazing service and perfect alterations! I bought my dress at David's Bridal and immediately started looking for a different place to do alterations since I didn't really trust DB with it. I found For My Wedding after lots of searching and I'm so glad I came here. The shop is run by a lovely couple who were courteous and friendly during every visit. They always made sure I was comfortable and were so helpful. They clearly explained what was going to be altered, why, and when it would be completed by. I had an extremely detailed dress with lots of lace all over it so it was a huge job for them since I needed a ton of alterations (shortened the length, overall size needed to be smaller, plus added bustles). I had my concerns since my dress had so many details, but they did a perfect job on it and I was really impressed. The store itself is clean and well-lit. Pretty spacious too. It has a nice seating area for mothers of the bride right by the dressing room. Initially, my mother and I went to Kleinfeld's in New York City, believing the hype and thinking we would be remiss not to visit "the best bridal boutique in the world." I nearly bought a $5,000 gown but after very pushy sales service and some second thoughts on whether it was the right dress for me, it just didn't feel right. So I started exploring other options. I called DOZENS of stores searching for a particular gown from Morilee By Madeline Gardner and For My Wedding was the ONLY boutique in New Jersey that had it, which led me to make the trip. And I'm so glad I did! To start, Wonnie has impeccable taste in wedding dresses and wedding accessories. She is knowledgeable and passionate about design and simply knows her stuff. But beyond that, she was super sweet, compassionate, and overall a wonderful person with a big heart. Searching for the dress to wear on your special day is stressful, and that's the kind of person you want in your corner. From the moment I walked in, she took care of me and gave me 1:1 personal attention the entire time I was in the boutique. The dress was everything I dreamed and more, so I made the purchase. When I called back 6 months later to see if it was on track for delivery, I didn't even have to provide my name. She remembered me right away! She called back diligently with shipping updates and when it arrived, I couldn't wait to go back and enlist her help in finding a veil, too! I really trusted her and she is a great listener. First off let me start by saying both of the owners are SO very sweet! I am a MOH in my sisters wedding and we did not get our dresses there (regretfully) but a week before the wedding I went to try my dress on and it ripped!! HOLY NIGHTMARE!! Instead of dragging my dress the 45 minute drive I took to get the dress I remembered For My Wedding is literally 5 minutes from my house so I took it there crossing my fingers and toes they could help me with just a week left. Wonee was a lifesaver! I came in panicked, as the back of my bridesmaid dress wasn't closing from the back. The dress was very complicated: it had a sheer back with little buttons going down the middle. She was able to completely deconstruct the back of the dress and create basically a new dress using the extra fabric I bought from the designer. I have a rather short torso and she was able to use the lining from underneath the dress. She added cups since I'm a little on the bustier side which fit great. She noticed the buttons were manufactured poorly and she was happy to make them tighter for me. Wonee was a true professional and miracle worker. I've been coming to Winnie at For My Wedding for years. My first experience with her was amazing. I bought my wedding dress from her boutique and she completely altered and revamped the whole dress to my liking. Her work is flawless, so much that I referred my best friend and sister-in-laws to her and they all bought their dresses and had alterations done by her. Winnie was so nice and helpful throughout the whole process and I know I wasn't the easiest person to work with. She went above and beyond at the last minute and did so much work on the dress to my liking and it came out wonderful. The alterations came out beautifully. She knew I was concerned about a few things on the dress a week before the wedding and was able to make changes only a few days before to make the dress fit perfectly. She has a magic wand. This place is the worst. Their selection is horrible. I placed an order with them and received the dress in the wrong length. The person I was dealing with (Wonnie, who also placed my order) failed to even mention to me that the dress was sent in the wrong length (was she hoping I wouldn't remember?) Then had the nerve to tell me she would do me the FAVOR of hemming the dress at no charge. I proceeded to ask for compensation and mad her aware that doing the hem was by no means a favor but a correction of her mistake.....which she has yet to acknowledge. I asked for $15 to be taken off my balance.....she said she could only do $10!!! YES SHE FOUGHT WITH ME OVER $5, even when I drew to her attention that this $5 would make her customer feel a little better & maybe prevent bad reviews and a call to the BBB!!!! Her next offer was to send the dress back to the vendor, and have it shipped to me (in other words.....please just go away). Then she would not give me anything to document that she agreed to do a free hem, and take the measly $10 off due to THEIR ERROR......by stating "how did she know I was really the person who bought the dress because I didn't have my receipt with me"....I offered her ID (haha) then she proceeded to scribble it on a business card. I've never experienced such poor customer service. I will never...ever make a purchase there again. Believe me I understand mistakes happen, and would have totally been understanding had she apologized and offered to compensate me in addition to fixing the problem rather than making it as if she were doing me a favor. I wish I had the time to get my dress elsewhere because I would demand a refund due to receiving the incorrect dress and leave it for them to deal with. In addition, communication is horrendous. Do yourself a favor.....don't go here. There are plenty of other bridal shops in the area. read more

I was very nervous about getting it altered because my dress was fully beaded. They did a great job and in a pretty short amount of time. Wedding dress was more than a month late. The dress was done in a completely different fabric than agreed upon and this change was not discussed with me at all. Once I tried on the dress, the skirt was sewn very asymmetric. The owners blamed me for changing the original design instead of taking accountability for the poor job done. I changed the original design because she had nothing I liked when I visited her showroom. She offered to change the design to my liking in order to make the sale to begin with otherwise I would have walked out of her shop without buying a dress. She made promises she did not keep and blamed me for it on top of it. She charged me 300 for tailoring to fix the terrible sewing done and rushed the actually fitting. I walked out of there in tears. She tried very hard to make me feel better but the dress is still messed up and there's nothing I can do about it now. read more

I bought my dress at a different boutique and brought my dress here because of the great reviews. My dress was rather difficult to alter but they did such a great job! They had to remove the lace before shortening the dress. They also had to take in the waist and shorten the straps which were tulle with lace on it. Everything came out to perfection! I had also gotten a second dress closer to the wedding date and brought it in. I got it at a sample sale so it was completely not my size. This was the only location that had the dress that I wanted to try on in the color I was looking for. The lady was very nice and I bought it. They promised to add straps and fix the beading, but she never called me to come in to measure the straps until I called to find out that she couldn't do the straps. When I went to pick up the dress the beadings were hanging and it had a rip in the skirt. When I showed her the tear in the dress she blamed me for stepping on it which never happened. It was unbelievable because even if I did she should have fixed it before handing it to me instead of blaming me. It really shocked me that she was just going to give me my dress with a hole in it. Beware that they will be so nice to you at beginning and promise everything you ask for and will not follow up with you unless you are on her back about your item. read more

Wonnie saved my wedding dress! I strongly recommend her if you are looking for alterations. I brought my dress from David's Bridal and it was a nightmare. First dress arrived with a stain, and the second one felt two sizes too small (even though it was the same size I had tried on and I had not gained weight). I then exchanged it for a larger size and I was swimming in it. I finally took it to Wonnie and she not only resized it for me, she fixed the bodice as it was lopsided (I've been told this is an issue with many dresses from David's). She also added a bustle and was very patient when she had to take it in one more time before the wedding since I lost some last minute weight. I had a great experience having my wedding dress tailored at For My Wedding. I live in Cliffside Park and have been passing the store front for years. They always have such beautiful and unique gowns in the window. When I got engaged I knew I wanted to get my dress here. Unfortunately, after trying on many dresses, I did not find "the one" here. They were very patient with me and really wanted me to find something that I loved. I ended up finding a sample dress at Helen Bohn's in Washington Township. It was closing at the time so I was able to get it for a really great deal. I decided to have it tailored at For My Wedding since I had such a positive experience there. The dress was too big around the waist area. It was a difficult fix since the dress had a built in corset. They were able to adjust the waist to my size perfectly. I noticed there were several flaws in the dress. You could see some of the boning through the spots between the lace. They were able to cover these spots flawlessly by taking pieces from the bottom of the dress where the lace was hidden. Most impressively, I wanted to have a bridal belt sewn into the dress. I bought a beautiful appliqué on ribbon on etsy. When we put the ribbon next to the dress it turned out the ribbon color did not match. They carefully removed the appliqué from the ribbon (which had been glued on) and were able to sew it into my gown. It looked like it was always part of the dress. They also fixed any flaws the dress had so there was no knowing it was a sample dress. The dress looked and fit perfectly. I got so many compliments at the wedding day about the dress, especially how well the bridal belt looked attached to the dress. The bustle was easy to do and looked fantastic. I highly recommend getting any important tailoring done here. They were so kind and welcoming for every fitting and they got the job done with no problems or stress. They were excellent in communicating how to care for the dress and how to transport it. Without question, I would return to them for future tailoring. read more

I came here to get my wedding dress altered. I had bought it in a sample store and I thought it fit pretty well except for some gaping at the neck, but when I wore it for the owner here she pointed out SO MANY details that I had missed - bunching at the torso, an uneven hem, sleeves too wide for my shoulders, loose beads, etc. She has a really great eye!!
