We purchased a prom dress in March and was told it would be ordered new and in by May 7th. It was not and when I asked for tracking information she said she didn't have it. When the dress finally "arrived" in mid-May, it was stained, had no tags and had pulls in the fabric. I asked if it was the sample. Shelly said no, but could not show us the sample bc 'they got rid of it.' With less than a month to go, we moved forward with alterations and a promise that it would cleaned and fitted. Ultimately, I picked up the dress less than a week before prom. It was still stained. Never sent to the dry cleaner, even after Shelly told me that she sent it to NYC for a special cleaning and I should be thankful. The alterations she did make were sloppy and the dress was poorly fitted. We took it to another tailor who could only make slight alterations to her sloppy work. He showed us how she only took-in one side of the dress!! Unfortunately that meant that the dress would be off-centered. I reached out to Shelly to express our disappointment and she didn't respond. Save yourself the potential for such aggravation!!!

I stumbled upon Susan Perrone by sheer luck - only I didn't know it at the time. My dress had arrived late (I ordered from a different place) - 6 weeks before my wedding but Susan was able to fit me in her schedule and get started on alterations right away. My dress was strapless but I felt the need to have my shoulders covered in church and she was able to add sleeves made from tulle that were removable! These straps made my dress feel complete, and I was so happy to have something unique about my dress. My bustle was GORGEOUS she had included I believe 7 bustle buttons - and my very layered Cinderella-like dress stayed up in the bustle the ENTIRE night! (Ever been to a wedding where the bride holds her dress because the bustle fell?) My mother's dress arrived 3 weeks before the wedding (again, from a different shop) and Susan made sure she was able to fit my mom in as well. Turned out that the dress the other shop had ordered was way too small for my mom - and 5 days before the wedding my mom decided to can it. Mom couldn't even sit in the dress!! Luckily - Susan had a dress available in her shop that fit my mother perfectly!! She was able to make some small adjustments that night and 3 days before my wedding my mother FINALLY had a dress! I honestly do not know what we would have done if we hadn't gone to Susan for alterations. She is clearly knowledgeable about gown alterations - and creative! She was able to quickly find a solution to a huge problem for us. I am so grateful for this and I have been back to her shop many times since. I've had 2 other dresses for other weddings altered since and Susan hasn't let me down! I also love her shop, it's very cute and unique and she has a lot of great wedding purses and jewelry to shop for!

It was impossible to find and while there were very similar dresses out there they all missed the mark on 1 or 2 key design elements. Susan and I scoured the internet, we watched clips of the film to see how the dress moved. Looked at dozens of pictures to make sure we were getting the subtle details right. Not only did she do her research she found the dress she would use as the foundation and the material to make my dress at TJ Maxx and saved me hundreds of dollars. Susan absolutely nailed it. She was getting a little discouraged after the first two shops didn't work out. The first boutique didn't have a lot of choices and the second was so expensive and not many options under $1000. Bijou was a larger bridal shop and not a formal wear boutique, so I had a good feeling when I walked in and saw several formal dresses that could look great on my friend on mannequins at the front of the store. The lady who helped us was so nice and didn't have any issues with the price range that my friend was looking to spend (not like the second boutique we visited). We actually found tons of dresses for my friends to try. The prices of the dresses were within her limit and there were color options that my friend wanted. We finally settled on a dress that she and I loved. The sales attendant was so helpful and she did a great job clipping the dresses so we can get a sense of how the dress would fit. Overall, the whole experience was easy and pleasant. Definitely check out Bijou if you are shopping for a wedding gown or a mother of the bride/groom dress.

DO NOT GET BRIDAL ALTERATIONS HERE! My experience was an absolute nightmare that I would not wish…read moreon anyone. It all could have been avoided if Robert was honest about this team's capabilities from the beginning. They were way in over their heads with this project. I bought my dress at Angel Rivera under the impression Angel would be making my custom sleeves (these sleeves were integral to the dress, I've always wanted a wedding dress with sleeves). A conversation happened behind the scenes and Angel was not doing them anymore and I unknowingly arrived at my first fitting to see Robert from Christine's Custom Tailor. The first seamstress they assigned me to had to be REMOVED from the project. She gave me different versions of the sleeves that were 4-5 sizes too big, the next version: raw hem, still too big, buttons not equidistant, and one arm with an outside seam down to my mid forearm the other one had a seam down to the bottom of my bicep, the next version: the seam was sown crooked so it did not sit right on my arm whatsoever. I then went to Angel Rivera Bridal Shop to talk to Danielle about this awful experience, and she had to step in and try to advocate for me. Danielle got a new seamstress from Christine's Custom Tailor on the project. She basically had to re-do the whole sleeve 2 weeks before my wedding. She fixed the sleeves and dress a lot, but I still was not being listened to about the lack of structure in the sleeve. And, now there are lipstick stains all over the sleeve. So, long story short, a week before my wedding I have a new seamstress inserting some fabric to the top of the sleeve to provide more structure like I want. Then, I will have to quickly get these to the dry cleaners and pay for a 2-day turnaround because of lipstick stains all over the sleeve. They are small stains, but noticeable to me and not what you expect when you pay over a grand for alterations/custom sleeves. I lost sleep over this whole experience, and after 6 fittings I am exhausted... one of these fittings being 5.5 hours!!!! There are still random threads/stitches visible on the sleeve and the fabric is pretty roughed up by the buttons. I have very high attention to detail, as should any tailor shop, but this business does not. I also did not want visible seams on the forearm, and now I have them. Unfortunately, I had to compromise on my original vision because of their lack of skill many times. Save yourself so much mental anguish and take your dress elsewhere. In the words of my new tailor: 'This is so bad. Why did they do this? These are stitches that should be on the inside, not on the outside like this. Terrible.' Don't expect compensation, let alone an apology, from Robert if they mess up. He's not a bad man, but he is a bad businessman.
