After a long search for the perfect prom dress for my daughter we visited Shelly Glam. I was highly impressed with her knowledge, charisma and selection of dresses. Shelly and her team are the best in this business. My daughter was able to wear her dream dress to prom. I cannot thank this establishment enough for all their dedication to make my daughters prom dress and night unforgettable. Thank you. read more

We walked in for my SIL to find an engagement party dress (at that time we were unaware that they were by appointment only) and it seemed that the worker or owner was unhappy about that. She didn't seem quite friendly. We didn't stay long since the dresses ran small. Also, note that we had strollers & the (2-3) aisles that they had were so narrow, our strollers kept getting stuck & running over dresses. read more

Paid $1900 for a dress up front, was told alterations are included in the price no additional costs were to be charged. When my daughter went to pick up dress she wouldn't give it to her unless she paid an additional $150. Great way to ruin an exciting experience. Telling your customers they "should know" is not a way to disclose your hidden last min fees that you decide to pull out of your butt. Unprofessional and greedy to say the least. read more

Buyer Beware! Believe the bad reviews here and know that there are more. I heard terrible stories, but thought Shelly wouldn't run a business so dishonestly. We purchased a prom dress in March and was told it would be ordered new and in by May 7th. It was not and when I asked for tracking information she said she didn't have it. When the dress finally "arrived" in mid-May, it was stained, had no tags and had pulls in the fabric. I asked if it was the sample. Shelly said no, but could not show us the sample bc 'they got rid of it.' With less than a month to go, we moved forward with alterations and a promise that it would cleaned and fitted. Ultimately, I picked up the dress less than a week before prom. It was still stained. Never sent to the dry cleaner, even after Shelly told me that she sent it to NYC for a special cleaning and I should be thankful. The alterations she did make were sloppy and the dress was poorly fitted. We took it to another tailor who could only make slight alterations to her sloppy work. He showed us how she only took-in one side of the dress!! Unfortunately that meant that the dress would be off-centered. I reached out to Shelly to express our disappointment and she didn't respond. Save yourself the potential for such aggravation!!! read more

I went back here & got another show stopping dress. It was even put on the side for me because I told her I wanted it on my previous visit. Again, the alterations were EXCEPTIONAL! This dress fits perfectly. I got so many compliments the minute I walked into any room. I felt so beautiful! Thank you, Shelly Glam! I' can't wait to come back for another dress! read more

Shelly, the owner is very nice i will give you that. I came here to find a prom dress but they had horrible dresses. They completely disregarded those who had reserved a time. Three different girls walked in and was placed into the ONE SINGLE dressing room. It was just a bad experience. DONT COME HERE FOR PROM DRESSES OR ANY DRESSES JUST WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! read more

This is the second time I've been here where the customer service was terrible. My main rule when going anywhere is that the place must have great customer service. Both times I've been here, the person working here did not greet us and it seemed as if we were invisible. Why would you ignore paying customers? I won't be going back. We'll find another place to buy prom dresses. read more

Found the perfect dress here. Shelly is so sweet and very helpful she knows a lot and will help you out with any and every alteration you want after you buy the dress. Even got it pressed last minute the day of my prom because I got it wrinkled. Definitely recommend! read more

I absolutely LOVE This Place and Shelly welcomed my daughter with open arms. She gave us her undivided attention and gave her opinion on what looked good with her body type. All the dresses my daughter tried on weren't what we were looking for. I showed Shelly one picture and She knew exactly what to get. My daughter is so happy with her choice and can't wait for her fitting. I recommend this place for any occasion. read more

I would give zero stars if I could still leave a review. I walked into this boutique with my 14 year old daughter looking for a dress for her semi-formal. When we first entered, the worker was in the back of the store appeared to be sitting and turned to look at us. As we started to look through dresses the lady came to me and said are you looking for a dress for you and I said no for my daughter and her semi formal. She glanced at my daughter and said we don't carry a 14 in short dresses and turned to walk away. My daughter - who was then embarrassed and obviously hurt by the rudeness of this worker - has been to many boutiques and doesn't even wear a 14. She just so happened to have on oversized clothing this rainy day. The worker was very interested when she thought the dress was for me - which I had on fitted clothing, which my daughter can fit as well - but completely body shamed my daughter based on a glance. I nicely put the items back on the rack and told my daughter to go. I wouldn't spend my money any where that body shames people - especially children. You were rude! There is no excuse for it and perhaps for 2024 you should go to a few workshops to have better customer service / people skills. Stay away from this store. Walk up a bit and around the corner. There is a wonderful boutique and owner there was a ray of sunshine and we found the perfect semi formal dress and ended up buying another dress for a sports banquet! read more

My daughter found a dress that she loved...I was leery because the stripes didn't match up at the seams. It was priced at $250.00. The owner wouldn't let me take a picture to send to my husband and claimed the dress was from "LA" so we left. Later that night we found the dress on Prom Girl website selling for $29.00. Please be forewarned as I know we need small businesses in our communities but selling an irregular dress to a teen with such a high markup and passing it off as a one of a kind from LA to sound cool isn't good business practice!! read more

She has beautiful unique selection of dresses. My daughter fell in love right away with a dress. Everyone including the owner was very helpful in making sure she found something she loved. I am the pickiest of shoppers and was in the market for a gown for a very special event. I did NOT want to even think about a mall, so tried several local shops in Ridgewood and elsewhere. Wow, I lucked out finding Shelly Glam. Shelly knows the trends and knows what is "old" and what is "new" -- she knows how dated something is which I found particularly helpful. I found Shelly to be extremely knowledgeable in her world of dresses. She has something for everyone. (even an awesome sale rack!!!) She handled it all for me, all of the little details to ensure I would leave a happy customer. I even saw her get on her phone for another customer to get a price for a dress out of a magazine. Amazing. Can't say enough about this store! Go! See for yourself, especially prom people...amazing selection! read more

We went to many dress stores searching for the perfect dress for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah Most had the same few dresses. This store had a beautiful selection of one of a kind dresses. Shelly was so kind and patient. She took a long beaded dress and literally transformed it to a gorgeous short masterpiece. She is truly a talented expert in her field We had a wonderful experience at Shelly Glam and plan to return in the future read more

Can we talk about unique gowns/dresses!! I had a very important family wedding and needed to stand out, when I walked into Shelly Glam I was speechless. I got the same feeling like a child in a candy store. They carry such a variety of styles and I was confident, no one would have my gown. The best part was the personal touch from Shelly. I am a size 10 and Shelly was so accommodating in helping find the perfect dress size where I still felt confident and sexy. Shelly Glam is a definite boutique you must try. read more

Went there for a prom dress & my DD tried on a dress that was a size 8 from an overseas company. I was told it was going to be special ordered in her size, yet they took no measurements so that seemed "off" right away. I gave SG the benefit of the doubt and paid in full $700 plus for a size 6 dress to be special ordered. On the manufacturer's Instagram page we found out that the dress style was a Covid left over from 2020, so it was quite unlikely that the manufacturer had extra stock from 2020 lying around. I know this because I worked in the fashion industry for many years. I called after the promised arrival date and was told the dress was "on it's way". When I pushed for evidence of the promised delivery date, I was suddenly told "oh, here it is! In a box we just unpacked". How coincidental, right? We went in to fit, and I was still giving her the benefit of the doubt. They pull the dress out of a back fitting room with no manufacturer's plastic, or tags. I checked the inside of the dress and saw that the woven label was a size 8 and obviously the store sample they were trying to pass off as my daughter's new size 6 dress. They tried to tell me that my daughter's dress was lost somewhere in the store at first, and then that it actually hadn't arrived. I was so upset with the lack of honesty that I requested a full refund which SG gave me readily. Afterwards, I began an exhaustive search for other dresses but found that due to the SG issue that the other styles my daughter liked were now out of stock with the manufacturers. I eventually connected with a reputable retailer on the West coast who had connections with the original manufacturer and customer ordered my daughter's dress in a size 6, the last one in stock! It arrived 2 weeks from the time of my order as promised. I paid $200 less and got the original, brand new dress, in the right size for my daughter. Had SB just done the right thing and ordered the dress for my daughter they could have kept the sale even at their substantial mark up for the same product. read more

After months of looking for the right gown, I walked into shelly glam and I wanted everything there. I returned with my hubby and we bought 3 gorgeous gowns. We went back last night for an alteration and was treated like a lifelong friend. Shelly Glam, in Ridgewood is the BEST place to find unique gorgeous style. The ladies running this store know style, and fashion. Most importantly, they listen to what you want, and they turn you into a "beautiful, elegant goddess". They understand body types, and what style dress your body will look GREAT in. The selection of gowns, and short dress is amazing. All the dresses are meticulously taken care of. Proms, Wedding, Mother of the Bride, Special Events, every occasion, I come here. Every piece of clothing I tried on here is TOP QUALITY! Plus, I love that I can find some really cool modern everyday clothing. If you looking for that "accent" piece, you'll find it here. If you looking for a business casual dress you'll find it here too! Great prices, Great service, Great quality! Highly recommend! read more

I went here to look for a prom dress but I was very thrown off by how rude the staff were! Not even a "hi!" Or a "how can we help you" They just stared at my mother and I like we had five heads. Definitely not a good experience I am happy to give any other boutique my service! read more

So I'm very disappointed that I Even took the time to go to there. I went with my friends because we all have prom coming up and as we walked in the ladies that were there just stared at us and did not welcome us. If you work there, you say high to potential customers, do you not? I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be that way. We kept looking around until finally a lady got up and said Do you have an Appointment with us? And we said no, and She goes "We only work with appointments" Alright so I didn't like that because that's not what I read on their page. Before we walked in we checked the hours and It said Monday By Appointments only then the rest of the days it provided the hours. Now what bothered me was the poor customer service. I'm never going there to be treated that way. I went with the goal of finding the perfect dress as well as my friends, and instead we just went there to get looked at. So thank you for nothing, next. read more

the owner was very rude & was acting very funny towards me , she try to make it seem like we couldn't afford the dress , we clearly saw the price & also wasn't welcomed or even spoken too the whole time . I had to call out for her to even come over and help us . Won't be coming back sadly read more

I highly recommend Shelly Glam!! She was wonderful and very responsive on what I was looking for. According to my body type she found exactly what I wanted. Most importantly she is very honest. We didn't have an appointment on a very busy Saturday, but when Shelly heard that we weren't from the area and it would be difficult to come back at another time, she cheerfully accommodated us. My sister in law was looking for a mother of the bride dress for my niece's wedding. She had ordered several dresses online and tried some at the big department stores, but nothing wowed her. But the selection at Shelly Glam is unique and it was easy to find THE ONE! The minute my SIL put the dress on, she knew. Although the store is not huge, they have a wonderful selection of extraordinary dresses and Shelly and her sister (I think) really know their merchandise and what would be flattering on your body type. It was a great experience! read more

I also Highly recommend Shelly Glam. My mother and I were both looking for a dress for my daughter's wedding. I had been to so many shops in NJ, NY, and CA and Shelly Glam was by far the best and listened to what I wanted and needed. They never pressured us to buy anything like other shops tried to do. Shelly and her staff were very helpful and made my dress experience fabulous. My mother and I both purchased our dresses from Shelly Glam as the customer service we received every time was excellent. read more

Wow! Talk about rude. No greeting when I walked in. (The store was empty - no other customers.) Browsed a little - then tracked down sales person. Never asked me if I needed help. I volunteered the information I was looking for - I showed her 4 pictures of dresses on my phone. I stated I was looking for similar dresses - they did not have to be the exact same ones. She pointed one out hanging on rack & showed me one other dress. Then proceeded to tell me that there were none in the color I had shown her. I never stated that that color was mandatory. I then inquired about other colors and she said there were some on the racks scattered throughout the store. As I browsed I encountered a broken hanger - and carried it with the heavy gown over to her. (Instead of letting it fall to the floor.) Never thanked me for doing so or apologized for the inconvenience. I finally just left. I will not be buying my daughter's prom dress there. If you are totally independent and don't need any assistance, guidance, information on available sizes or colors and don't mind being treated rudely - this is the place for you. Otherwise there are many other dress shops where the staff is polite, attentive & actually tries to be of assistance. read more

What can I say about Shelly and her team? She completely blew us away from the very first encounter. The level of customer service, individual attention, dress selection is second to none. Look no further for top notch , one of a kind couture gowns read more

Whenever I enter a small boutique I expect to be greeted; customers in store or not. When my daughter and I entered Shelly Glam, we were never greeted. We were looked at and passed by, but never greeted. Customers were there; customers left and new customers entered...nothing. Please note, no one looked like us at any point while we were there. When I addressed who may or may not have been Shelly Glam, she argued me down and was simply rude! As we left the store my daughter began to cry and now that's when the whole matter took a turn and magnified the situation under a different light. When I asked my daughter why she was crying, she expressed how sick she is of constantly dealing with racism...and frankly, I am too...especially for my children. Tears we cry from pain, in many cases, leave a lifelong indelible mark. With that, I'm not sure if you were Shelly Glam herself or someone else...you know who you are. You left a mark. I hope you caught what I schooled you on about your inactions and discrimination. YOU won't be able to click undo, undo, undo on this one. read more

I had to take my niece for a fitting of a dress that my sister had already bought and paid for in full including alterations. A new dress was supposed to be ordered and at the fitting we were to decide how short to cut it because it was a gown. When we got there the dress was already cut and altered! Since it was a sequence dress I knew immediately that this dress was taken in quite a bit. This dress was the original dress my niece had tried on that was too large. Instead of ordering a new one the owner took in and altered the used dress. Unbelievable. She was very loud and aggressive when I told her the sequence didn't line up properly and told me that's just how they are. My niece loved this dress and since my sister had already paid for it I decided to take it without fighting with the owner. Before we left she charged another $100 for alterations and said we didn't pay for alterations when we clearly did. We were so shocked and annoyed at this blatant liar we paid the $100 and prayed that we never had to see this lady or walk into her store again. Please be very very cautious when dealing with this retailer. read more

I highly recommend Shelly Glam. We had been looking for a Jr. Prom dress for my daughter for weeks. There were plenty of dresses in other stores - they just all looked the same and nothing was what we wanted - stylish, elegant, unique, and flattering. We found THE dress within seconds of walking in the door - unfortunately, it was too big. The lades running the shop showed us how the dress would look with some minor alterations and promised we would have the dress before the prom less than a week away. They lived up to their promises! read more
