I was in desperate need for a last minute gown for a wedding and came to Gattinolli. The very first gown I tried on I absolutely fell in love with and Sonia was able to alter it on the spot to my specifications. I really don't understand any of the negative reviews because clearly the people making them have not interacted with Sonia. She is amazing and so helpful. I am a HUGE fan of Gattinolli. I don't understand the negative reviews. We just purchased a second prom dress from them and had a second wonderful experience. This is a family business, and the mother-daughter duo that helped us both times were AWESOME. They helped us make our selections and were extremely kind and knowledgeable. I would be strategic about the day and time you visit, as it is a small shop and it's nice to go when it's not hectic, but even so, when it's your turn, they take excellent care of you. Walked in with my daughters in hopes to find a "Sweet 16" dress! The store was completely empty, the owner was on a personal call, didn't even bother to greet us or ask if we needed help. After about 10 minutes of us navigating through the dresses on our own, the owner did manage to take the phone away from her mouth just for a second to tell my younger daughter not to take the hanger off the rack. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm a first time customer, and I must say the customer service when I called to inquire about an exchange was horrible. I was reprimanded and belittled because I didn't call the store immediately upon changing my mind about my outfit. This item was purchased for my birthday dinner (11/26), then I went out of town and now I'm home sick. I explained that it's not about the money, I needed to exchange the outfit that I will never wear. She persisted with her reprimanding. I will definitely NOT purchase from this establishment anymore. Sonia is amazing!! I don't enjoy dress shopping but everytime I come here it is easy and I leave with something I love!! She is very helpful and great at finding something just for you. Not only do you get a beautiful dress but her alterations are done perfectly and QUICK. I have never had to come back more than once after the original measurements and never had one complaint on her work. The last time I went there I tried on a dress that was not my style (high neckline with beads on it) and told her what I didn't like. In just a few days she altered the neck to be low cut and made the straps more narrow, and removed the beads. I didn't even know this was possible!!! If you have an event or need a dress you have to come here you won't be disappointed !!! read more

Just as all the other reviews said- RUDE and terribly unprofessional. I find a dress on a clearance rack under a large printed sign "$99. " I try on, excited to find a first dress of probably 10+ I will need this summer in my 'new dress spot!' I need a specific dress for this event- one I will likely never wear again so first stop- sale rack. After trying on a quite beat-up gown, the girl says they can take in- the top part was a bit big- it was a 4, I'm a 0, nothing too crazy. I was leaving the bottom- the length (and dirt & had holes from heels, presumably??) I ask how much $150. What? To take in the bust? Seriously? I didn't divulge everything (that I get stuff tailored routinely - 5 mins away, mind you) and tried to be as sweet as possible and said- "whoa, more than dress!... too much for me..." Woman asks well how much do you think it should be. I said I didn't know exactly but that's world apart from what another tailor I have worked with would charge. Later, she would go on to tell me how. I would never find anyone that would do it "for so little." And well, that when I ended up BACK there with my man bc I couldn't find anything else (in Ridgewood in the few hours I had during the afternoon) and figured for sake of just being done & hvg a dress, just get it. Well we go back to ring it up- after throwing 6 pins into top at a whopping $150, she says $360... Ummm what? $99 and $150...nope not close. She says- it's $199. I point to sign directly above where I got the dress and she points to ANOTHER RACK with a sign of $199 and says- "It means somewhere in there" Well, it SAYS- $99. It's directly above where I took the dress! I mean, seriously?!! And here I was thinking we were in our new spot where I'd soon enough be spending $$$, had mentioned posting all over social media.... Well the woman (super long dark hair ) could NOT CARE LESS! The same woman that admitted it didn't even look good on the hanger and no one gives it a chance and that much of the store was going on sale next week for summer clearing... Does this even make sense then? From a business perspective- hard no. It's not going to sell and likely even next week, get marked down further, anyway. And even more likely- (IF it does sell eventually) to someone that doesn't have at least one event most weekends they mix September. From a customer service perspective- hard no. This is obvious. The entire thing was just rude and arrogant and frankly made absolutely NO sense. "It's is somewhere in between..." if you can make the sign that scream $99, you can make the note- "but not THESE dresses, on THIS rack, where THIS sign is posted." The reviews r all spot on- go elsewhere. Seriously. People like this don't deserve our business and I predict the end of their time here, sooner than later. Yes- the trip into city is exactly what I wanted to avoid... but I'd do that in a heartbeat after this. Also found that there are actually a ton of dress shops in the area and surrounding towns- just keep looking. And u shall find the dress of your dreams and some good old customer service and kindness that feels just as good as the dress looks! read more

Completely agree with Nora C.'s review of this place. I came in looking for a Sherri Hill dress and she said they don't have it but she can custom make me a dress that looks like it. I try on one she already had made and she says she will make me that size. Didn't even take my measurements for a "custom" dress.... anyway, she tells me it will be ready in one month and gives me a date to come back. I come back a month later, wait 2 hours to be helped, and then finally they ask me if I need help. I tell them I'm there for a fitting for the custom dress she was making for me. She goes to the back and comes back 10 minutes later saying she forgot to make it?!?! She tells me it will be ready the next week. I come in for a fitting the next week and it is loose (probably because she never took my measurements) but she cuts the length that day and tells me it's not loose and there's nothing she could do about it. After my fitting, she tells me the dress will be ready A WEEK BEFORE MY PROM. I took the dress that I paid an extra $100 for it to be "custom" and had it tailored somewhere else, where I had to pay even more money to get it fixed. The new tailor said she cut the bottom wrong and also told me it was loose and removed fabric from the dress. What a nightmare. They are unorganized and have lied to me multiple times. The owner truly possesses 0 customer service skills. Do not do business with these people. read more

My daughter bought a $550 prom dress a month ago, and changed her mind. Not only were we refused a refund, we were told that her only option was an exchange. My daughter couldn't find a dress in the store that fit her or that she liked or that didn't have a stain or rip in it so we asked if a dress could be ordered for her. Again, the answer was "no" because "prom season is over", which is nonsense. I pleaded with the owner for a refund so that my daughter could buy a dress for her senior prom that she likes. The owner said "no". In the middle of our conversation another customer rudely interrupted me, so the owner took this opportunity to leave me hanging at the counter. I eventually left and now have to try to sell the dress online at a discount. I have three daughters. Had I had a good experience she would have made $5k from me over the next 4 years and I would have recommended her to all my friends. I now see other bad reviews. Not surprised by any of them. Small-minded and rude owner once she has made a sale. Do not buy from this store unless you are absolutely certain about your selection. Very disappointing. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. I'm ashamed that I gave these people my business. Extremely rude and impolite people. The owner Sonia does not have any consideration for her customers and neither does her daughter Daniela who also works for her. I got my prom dress here, and when they called me that my dress had come in, I came in to pick it up and when I brought it home to try it on, it felt so much bigger than when I had tried it on in the store. It was a size 4 and the dress I tried on in the store was a size 2, which is the one I told them I wanted. I came into the store, and instead of apologizing for THEIR mistake, both Sonia and Daniela rudely yelled at ME for not trying it on again when I came in to pick it up. I explained to them that, WHY would I try the dress on again when I trusted them to order me the right size? Daniela said to me "see, I wouldn't have done that if I were you." It's not even like anyone suggested I try it on first before taking it home when I had come into the store to pick it up. After telling some friends about this incident, heard that some prom stores purposely order a size up so that you can make alterations through them, and with the types of attitudes I've gotten from them, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. I work in retail, and where I work, behaving in the way that they did towards me would have easily gotten me fired. The attitude they gave me was disgusting and was in front of several other customers. To blame a CUSTOMER for THEIR mistake just ABSOLUTELY disgusts me. Please, do not give these people your business because aside from this one experience, they are never friendly and don't have respect for anyone. read more

Worst experience ever. I don't know if the owner is racist or just plain rude but she was just a terrible sales person. I grabbed a dress that was hung on the rack along with all the others and apparently it was one that was already sold, which I obviously did not know, and she grabbed the dress out of my hand and made me feel as if I was stupid. She has so much patience and goes above and beyond for her customers. She has wonderful taste and is very honest. She doesn't try to sell you anything and will tell you right away if a dress looks bad on you. She has dresses for every occasion you can think of and for any age. My mom, sister and I have been coming here for years and have worn her dresses for weddings, showers, proms, baptisms, you name it! Just horrible!! I bought my prom dress there and brought it in for alterations 4 times! They did not do what I asked and left permanent pulls in my dress right before prom. On top of that the employees are rude and classless! They would constantly argue with me about how I like my dress. Also heard them multiple times talking about me rudely to other employees. Also two people I know who went to get prom dresses there, they messed up the back of her dress and she bought the dress there and went to go pick it up the next week and they sold it to someone else!
