The selection of dresses and the price point is great. Christina's personality seems to make…read moreeveryone in the room happy and laughing. The dress came in on time. Christina accommodated many appointments and stayed late when the appointment ran late. I'm giving three stars SOLELY because of my experience with alternations. I was told before I bought my dress that altering the sleeves would be no problem. So I said yes to the dress because I was told the sleeves could be changed and was super excited. During my first fitting I was told by the seamstress that the sleeves couldn't be altered the way I was told they could. And if I wanted them like that I wouldn't be able to move my arms. If this was explained to be before buying the dress, I probably would've thought twice about that particular dress. (I would've undoubtedly bought my dress from Sister's Bridal because the service and selection was great). The alterations were very stressful and took 4, maybe 5, fittings to get the sleeves to look semi like what I was originally told (I live an hour+ away, and had to leave work early for many of these appointments). And the seamstress seemed VERY bothered by my alteration request. One my wedding day it was a disappointment with the way the custom alterations looked. The sleeves were uneven. One side held higher on my shoulder and the other wouldn't hold on my shoulder, it was lower on my arm. I can see this in every single forward facing picture from my wedding day. I can't even explain how disappointing that is. It wasn't how I was wearing it either. One side was altered differently and when I tried to move the other side down, material folded awkwardly. When I tried to move the lower side up, it pulled too much and wouldn't stay. Trust me, I tried! So, my advice is buy a dress you love 100% as is and IF you want custom alternations, have the actual seamstress there to say it can be done before buying the dress.

Four years later, I brought it back to be altered for my younger daughter and have a headpiece made. She also altered a flower-girl dress for us somewhere in there. In general, a nice place to go for custom-made or custom-tailored special-occasion outfits. It's not exactly a place to pop in on a whim, but if you've got something specific in mind it's worth a look.

The entire staff was incredibly helpful and supportive, and they completely eased my mind when dealing with my indecisiveness. I had a specific budget in mind, and they were able to work within it to find me the absolute perfect dress. Since I live in Manhattan and commute to Paramus, their excellent communication and transparency when the dress arrived made the process incredibly smooth. Their seamstress, Nelly, is absolutely phenomenal and immensely talented; she went above and beyond by showing me exactly how to bustle the dress and letting me video the process so I would know what to do on the big day. Separately, she also used leftover bridesmaid dress fabric to create custom pocket squares for the groomsmen, and she executed them beautifully.

I put all of my trust in her. She was absolutely fantastic. Coming into this appointment I didn't know what to expect and I didn't expect to leave with a dress purchase, especially since it was my 1st ever wedding dress appointment! Funny enough, I did not like any of the dresses that were on my vision board, due to this Dolores figured out my style rather quickly. She was kind, understanding, and she listened to my needs and wants. She asked me my budget, my bra size, pants size, tops size, etc. I felt extremely comfortable with her I could go on and on about how fantastic she was. When I found "the dress" she put veils on me and crowns to try and also gave me a bouquet to practice walking down the aisle. It was such an amazing experience. My dress I felt was very affordable ($2795) not including shipping. But as a plus size woman I expected to pay a lot more. Thank you for my wonderful experience.

Next thing I knew I was scheduling a second appointment to come back with my bridesmaids and father to get their opinion on the 2 dresses I had fallen in love with. (After going to so many shops, friends and family stopped wanting to hit the road with me, so the first time I put on my dress it was just me, my mom, and a couple sales associates). The boutique itself is small, but don't let that fool you they have the best selection. A variety of dress fits, colors, and styles - a little something for everyone. Since it is on the smaller side, you essentially have the place to yourself which was a huge win! During the wedding and for years after I've gotten compliments and questions about where I purchased my dress. I cannot recommend this place enough, it was truly a great experience during such a crazy time. (I unfortunately, was a bride during COVID-19 - however, I have to say Bridal Atelier Montclair such a great partner during this trying time).
