After reading some reviews, it seemed like a mixed bag, but overall a pleasant experience. Service was great. You walk up and order, they call you when the food is ready. They explain the food if you have questions and the counter person was great, no issues. It's hot chicken, we got both sliders ( misnamed because it is a full size sandwich) and tenders with fries and a Mac and cheese. The chicken was ordered extra hot, and it was. Nice flavor, nice heat that builds over time. I forgot the name of the sauce they give you, but I believe the prepackaged one and the container are the same sauce, just one is made in house. Either way it is good on the chicken and the fries. I am not a fan of Crinkle cut fries, but these were cooked perfect. My daughter likes hot food and she could not finish the slider because it was too much spice. The Mac and cheese is pretty bland, nothing special there. If you like some heat, hit up the extra hot. I will say that I at the tenders first, then hit the slider. Not sure why, but the slider seemed spicier than the tender. Either way, I wish they had bone in chicken seasoned like that, but it is a franchise and it serves what it serves. Great place for a quick meal. The place was clean. I will say I do have to agree with other reviews as there are a plethora of staff in the kitchen and they do seem to loiter about the place inside and out, but it was not busy when I went. I just placed my first order and the line is very long inside. The drive thru line is insanity as I drove around 3 times before I could find a parking spot. The drive thru line is in the street on Kuykendahl. The prices seem very high for 2 tenders at $13. We will provide a review after we eat! the inside has lots of folks standing in line and waiting for their food. If this is how it will be everytime we come, we won't be coming. As a black person, myself, I get that it is a word used among our race. But but there were kids around including my little one, so it bothered me a bit., hoping they didn't hear. Dave's Hot Chicken wants to be the Cane's of hot chicken--all they do is tenders. We decided to give them a try and got a couple of combos with some medium and hot tenders with fries, a drink and a milkshake to go. The chicken is absolutely marvelous. I am a bit on the sensitive side and the medium was as hot as I can go. If you want it hotter they go up to "reaper". The tenders themselves are huge, the size of ordinary chicken breasts. The meat was tender and juicy, done just perfectly. The hot chicken spice was somewhat less vinegary than most hot chicken I've had, and I consider that a good thing. It made a wonderful fine crust on the chicken. They give you honey with it, and that adds a great flavor, definitely put some on. The tender comes with a slice of bread, the slider with a bun. It is light on the bread either way. The slider has kale slaw on it, but not very much, just enough to add flavor. The fries were also done perfectly. Dave's gives you lots of everything--sauce, ketchup, honey--so you won't run short. There were a few issues. They offer chocolate, strawberry and vanilla shakes on the menu but when I came in they only had vanilla. It's a very good shake, nice flavor and consistency--just soft enough to get through the straw. The building is somewhat rough and ready--rough, in that there was a door not working and the bathroom fixtures were kind of loose, but ready in that all the essentials worked. The drink machine was in good shape. Kudos for taking the failed El Pollo Loco space and doing something with it. Staff were friendly and helpful, still getting used to the system but doing fine. The decor is fun, very colorful with an urban vibe. This is gourmet chicken in a fast-food setting--an average meal like we had will set you back $20 each. But the portions are huge. You can save money with a single-tender or slider combo and have plenty of food. It's the best hot chicken I've had yet. read more

Kids/inexperienced workers are running this place. Not so bad if there was some sorta organization to the chaos. I ordered ahead to avoid having to wait. Received my order, once found, 15 minutes after I arrived. I could see about 7 different individuals in back just kinda hanging out. Again fine, if there was some sorta order to the madness. The ambiance is trendy fast food. Nothing special. The food surprisingly was very good. Nice flavors. I loved the crinkle cut seasoned fries. Work on service and sorting out order placed ahead and maybe there will be some longevity. Milkshake machine works. I'm guessing it's there in case someone orders their heat level too high. Not great tasting and it was too runny. I hope you guys have a much better experience if you decide to go. read more

So tried Dave's today, I got the #3 slider and tender medium heat with fries to go, the slider was excellent, better than all others I've have honestly, bun and cheese was great, good pickles, the tender was very good, and a good size like a boneless breast! The fries kind of ordinary and were not good, kind of tough, some on the bottom were better, maybe got cool on way home which for me is 3 miles so not to far, so I'll give them five stars despite the fries not being good! Everyone was hyping this place up so I thought I'd give it a try. Me and my girlfriend went and ordered the two piece tender and I also got a side of mac & cheese with two milkshakes. The milkshakes were hands-down the best thing I had put in my mouth that day. The chicken tasted like they just powdered it in cayenne pepper and spices and threw it in a frier. First time dining, was disappointing they were out of Mac and cheese at 7pm. I wasn't told until after ordering and my order was called. Would have been nice to have been informed during ordering or before my number was called. I'm in the food industry so I know the struggles, however being that it's a small menu it's important not to run out. The shake freezer was also "out of order". I know some establishments tell customers that late in the evening because employees don't want to have to clean the machines after closing, hopefully not the case here. I was going to settle on sweet tea but that was also out. We ordered one slider and tender combo and a two tender combo. We received 2 slider combos. It was wrong and hate to waste food but my daughter just didn't eat the bun. Needed more slaw on all 4 sandwiches but chicken was good. Hot seasoning was a little much for us both but that was what we ordered. Medium was less heat so much better for me. Fries were crispy and everything was hot. Not sure if I'm going to return, a little pricey and with the "outs" not worth it. I didn't see a manager or supervisor anywhere. I have been wanting to try this location since they opened but had been putting it off due to the mixed reviews. Gave it a try today and they will not get another opportunity. Went through the drive-through at about 11 o'clock this morning I was the only person in the line. Person came over the speaker and said to give them a minute. Five minutes later they came back and took my order. Pulled up to the drive-through window and sat for seven minutes without being acknowledged or waited upon. At that point I went ahead and left and decided they were not worth getting my money. If you cannot be ready to serve customers past 11 o'clock when you were open then you have a lot of work to do still as a business. read more
