So I placed my order and during checkout, there's a tipping option that's shared with everyone...yikes! My spice level is always hot. Upon opening, not all were sauced and there were 5 slices of pickles (a lot) but not a fan. They asked if I wanted fries but not if pickles are okay, and a slice of white bread, which I don't eat. I'm unsure of the hate this place gets. My experience was great. The young person at the counter was extremely friendly. Ordered a number one which was two tenders, bread and fries; and a number two which was two sliders and I subbed fries for Mac and cheese. We ordered both meals "hot". We also ordered two fountain pops. After tip the meal was $40. If you didn't tip, $35. I will say, the Mac and cheese is God awful. They need to just remove it from the menu. It's literally boiled noodles in a watery "cheese" mix. That's my bad for ordering that. However the fries were exceptionally crispy and seasoned nicely. The tenders were spicy, juicy and seasoned well. The bread was a little stale, but we didn't eat it anyways. The sliders were exceptional. They are big tenders covered in Dave's sauce, atop a few pickles and their kale slaw. The meal comes with two and they absolutely hit. The dining room is no frills, but clean. Bathrooms were clean. Overall my experience was an 8/10. Skip the Mac, try the sliders! I'm definitely a chili head and their "hot" was very pleasant, no sweat was broken. Next time I'll try the extra hot. read more

Starving after leaving the airport so decided to try out this fried chicken. My husband is a fried chicken connoisseur and after trying them out, Dave's is now one of his favorites. It was so insanely good. Not sure what the secret ingredient is in their breading but it's special. Whoever cooked our food knows what they're doing too. Chicken was perfectly cooked. And a slider is the size of a normal sandwich so good deal there. Can't speak to the restaurant since we did drive thru. It did take a bit but the food must be made to order. read more

This was my first time trying Dave's Hot Chicken, and overall I had a pretty good experience. I ordered the Dave's Big Trio, and it definitely delivered on portion size. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, and cooked well. The mac & cheese was okay, but I'd still choose Chick-fil-A's mac & cheese if given the option. It wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me. A couple of small things kept this from being a 5-star experience. The sliders were still attached to each other which made them fall apart when grabbing them. I also wish they were more drenched in that medium sauce. As for the service, the person in the drive through was distracted and I had to repeat my order several times. The views from the drive through were nice as the building has nice artwork on the sides Overall, I enjoyed my first visit and would definitely come back. More just people talking! I waited...And waited....And waited.....by the time I went to go and asked if they forgot abut my order, it had been 20 minutes. They said it's coming up. I waited another 10 minutes! Now I'm ready to get my money back! They assured me it's coming up, and they said, they had a lot of orders! I get it, but at that point I was about done with the waiting! It still took a couple of minutes after that! I just wasn't expecting to have to wait about 40 minutes for fast food. Anywhoo! I'm a fan! That bread was so soft, I got the medium. I feel like I could have went up one more for the heat factor, but this Cauliflower, had so much flavor! Do you love chicken tenders amd chicken sliders? Then this is the place for you! They just opened this particular location on the Northside of Jax and its a great addition. Flavors include everything from mild all the way up to reaper. I got the extra hot because Lord knows the older I get, the easier it is to get heartburn. Very flavorful and the fries are amazing. The tenders are huge! Service is spot-on, even with the chaos happening from just opening. My only gripe is that its very loud inside with the music. read more

I've had a horrible experience at this location. What made matters worse is that this location does not want you to call this location if you've had any problems, so when we had problems with receiving food that was inedible and improperly prepared, we called the store first and it heavily suggested not trying to speak with anyone at the store and instead using their website. This is what I did. It's now a week later. I followed up every single day. I've talked with several assistant managers and people in customer service via email, but no one in leadership had called me about the actual problem. I was promised the franchise owner or general manager would be calling me and that my issue was a priority to them. Obviously not. So, today I called the location and asked if they could help me get in touch with the general manager or the franchise owner since they had been unable to call me over the past week. The individual then said that the person had called me this morning. Funny, I didn't receive any voicemails. Well, I did ask for someone to call me back and express that I wasn't happy about the lack of response. A little bit later I received a call from a Bianca Gonzalez (screen capture of caller ID attached). Whoever this was, assuming it was Bianca, she felt so comfortable on leashing a string of profanities on me that would make a sailor blush. So, not only did we have chicken that literally was not edible (someone literally forgot to put breading on it and just put raw spices), But now this location is insisting on calling its customers who have already been disenfranchised by their own incompetence and somehow it's appropriate for them to talk to their customers with such harsh language. I tried Dave's hot chicken for the first time today for lunch. I was a little bit reluctant because of the prices which I knew about ahead of time. I still think it's too pricey for what you're given. I ordered the number four, which is one slider and fries and then added a small strawberry shake that came out to be over $15 that started at $9.99 plus tax. I ordered at the kiosk and so I didn't tip. When they called my name out from the counter to pick up my order, which was for dine in, I took it back to a table and then noticed I didn't get a shake. I went back to the counter and said hey I ordered a shake with this and he said he would take care of it. Shortly afterwards, he had my shake ready and I got that. But before I can walk back to my table, another lady working behind the counter called out my name as well. I let her know I already have my food so it seems they are kind of out of sync up there. I noticed a sticker on the wax paper does not actually have what I ordered fully itemized because there's no shake listed on it so that only hurts the person giving out the food because they won't know what I ordered because they only have a name. As far as the food goes, the slider was good. It was a decent size chicken, tender, which extended beyond the size the bun and has coleslaw on it. I had them leave off the pickles. The seasoning was good. I ordered a mild. The crinkle cut french fries also had a nice seasoning on them. The milkshake was just kind of standard, not really high-quality. I noticed on their ordering menu you can get a family box. There's a 10 piece tenders for $45. Breaking that down that's over four dollars per tender. That seems very pricey to me. So overall, the food was good. Service was good. I just wish they would lower the prices. The atmosphere was casual playing some 80s music in the background. read more

The chicken was delicious! It's white meat and boneless. You can choose your spice level on each tender. The crinkle fries were overly coated in seasoned salt. The mac and cheese was just ok. It was expensive! And if you want a sauce other than Dave's sauce, it'll cost you. AND there's a request to tip - when you stand to order, go pick up your own food, and throw your own trash away. Two tenders, fries, two slices of bread, 5 pickle slices, and a small container of Dave's sauce was $12.69. $1.49 for ranch. We probably won't go back. read more
