Darya used to be a staple in my weekly rotation when I worked near the Costa Mesa location, and the food was always excellent. I'm happy to say that the Tustin location lives up to those high standards. The filet mignon shish kabob and chicken koobideh are just as flavorful and well-prepared as I remembered. Service, however, could use some improvement. Our assigned server, an older lady, didn't seem very attentive, but thankfully, an older gentleman was consistently keeping an eye on our table and made sure we were taken care of. Darya has, somehow, become a beloved destination for our large family gatherings. Think 15-20 people, all of which seem to equally enjoy the food and atmosphere here. The staff has consistently proven to be infinitely patient - offering to store the cakes, assist with plating, indulging picture requests, etc. Recently we were also there on an evening that had the belly dancer, and the kids loved the show...maybe some of the adults, too. My go to is the chicken soltani - it comes with a barg and a koobideh, and is more than enough for one person. The combination plates are also really good for sharing if that's your vibe. The one star deduction is based on the fact that I would never pay the prices here for a meal on my own. You're paying for the atmosphere, but the food is comparable to any of the fantastic options available in Anaheim's Little Arabia district. read more

I am not Persian but I like Mediterranean food. A friend suggested this place and we tried, much to our dissatisfaction. First off, the service is lukewarm, the elderly lady, who was taking food orders, was rather rude and was getting irritated with our questions abt menu and compositions. The kebobs were ok, could be better, hummus and the complementary bread were fine and the lentil soup too.One of the appetizers that was highly rated, the one with crispy rice and vegetable sauce on top, turned out super bad and inedible. Had to throw the entire stuff. Expected restaurant to take out that charges from our bills but they didn't.In all, not a good experience over all. I ordered one of my favorite dishes, a koobideh dinner. I was not able to go to the restaurant so I used a delivery service. The meal was as hot as it should have been, when it arrived. The portions were as if I were dining in. However the skewers of koobideh were very unseasoned and not at all reminiscent of that wonderful flavor I was craving for from the restaurant I constantly frequent. Came here for a wedding luncheon. We had both dining rooms to the right. Nice restaurant but outdated as far as their dinnerware. Their charger plates were gold and had paint chips exposing patches of silver. The appetizer/dessert square plates were aging with faded fork and dishwasher lines. Besides the aesthetic, service was wonderful. Shanna was our bartender. I asked for something sweet and she made me a mango martini. Delicious. She made sure she kept the refills coming for our table. We had a buffet style lunch. It included saffron rice, chicken kebob, beef kabob, chicken in pomegranate sauce, marinated chicken, grilled whole tomatoes, salad, baghali polo (lamb rice) and lentil soup. Prior to lunch, hors d'oeuvre was served. We had borani, hummus and three other sauces served with lavash. For desserts, there was a plate of baklava, zoolbia and a pistachio item. Super sweet and must be eaten with hot cardamom tea or coffee. The food was okay. It's not as flavorful as other places, maybe because it was buffet style. read more

They did provide butter and pepper, but I'd prefer the restaurant to butter their own rice. I ordered the beef and chicken kabob. Decent sized portions. Over 30 dollars to justify this? Well, this place take an "unfortunate" shortcut in preparing these ... for example the chicken shish is boiled and just a bit grilled for the look. We started with Kashk Bademjan and Dolemeh appetizers and of course their delicious flat bread. We each ordered drinks and also the Darya Salad. There were four in our party and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and authentic Persian decor as well as ambiance. We had different dishes such as the boneless chicken kabob, koobideh-L, Soltani and the koobideh combo and the presentation, temperature and taste was perfect and scrumptious. We had dines at many Persian restaurants as my wife is Persian and we had her brother and his wife in our party as well and I must say Darya tops the list.
