i didn't even know there was a second darya, i always go to the darya by my job in south coast plaza. i decided to try this one out. honestly? terrible....food, environment, service. the one in south coast has such beautiful decor and ambiance. i can't believe theyre supposed to be the same restaurant or share the same name. the ghorme sabzi was pretty much water and beans. don't know who is managing the place but they gotta do better. plenty other persian food spots that i rather go to. read more

Had a wonderful dining experience at Darya in Orange today. Nazi was our amazing host and server and provided stellar customer service. We started with Kashk Bademjan and Dolemeh appetizers and of course their delicious flat bread. We each ordered drinks and also the Darya Salad. There were four in our party and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and authentic Persian decor as well as ambiance. We had different dishes such as the boneless chicken kabob, koobideh-L, Soltani and the koobideh combo and the presentation, temperature and taste was perfect and scrumptious. We had dines at many Persian restaurants as my wife is Persian and we had her brother and his wife in our party as well and I must say Darya tops the list. I have been into middle east countries and chicken shish kebab is my favorite! Well, this place take an "unfortunate" shortcut in preparing these ... for example the chicken shish is boiled and just a bit grilled for the look. The taste is NOTHING like a traditional shish kebab! First and last! Tried and disappointed! I give two stars just because the staff was super friendly! Came here for a wedding luncheon. We had both dining rooms to the right. Nice restaurant but outdated as far as their dinnerware. Their charger plates were gold and had paint chips exposing patches of silver. The appetizer/dessert square plates were aging with faded fork and dishwasher lines. Besides the aesthetic, service was wonderful. Shanna was our bartender. I asked for something sweet and she made me a mango martini. Delicious. She made sure she kept the refills coming for our table. We had a buffet style lunch. It included saffron rice, chicken kebob, beef kabob, chicken in pomegranate sauce, marinated chicken, grilled whole tomatoes, salad, baghali polo (lamb rice) and lentil soup. Prior to lunch, hors d'oeuvre was served. We had borani, hummus and three other sauces served with lavash. For desserts, there was a plate of baklava, zoolbia and a pistachio item. Super sweet and must be eaten with hot cardamom tea or coffee. The food was okay. It's not as flavorful as other places, maybe because it was buffet style. read more

For Persian food, it's just OKAY. Nothing really wrong, but nothing also knocked my socks off. The salad was a little soggy, and the rice needed a bit more flavor. They did provide butter and pepper, but I'd prefer the restaurant to butter their own rice. I ordered the beef and chicken kabob. Decent sized portions. Over 30 dollars to justify this? Maybe in 2023. IDK. I have found places around the Los Angeles area offering around the same quality for a little bit less. While the free-hummus is nice with check-in. However, it should come complimentary because I don't expect anyone should ever pay for it. It's greasy and has no flavor. Just look at that oil slick floating on top. read more

Fabulous, the food was exceptional, the service with Paula our server handling our large table was just amazing, and the the restaurant was beautifully decorated is all I could say!! So rare to find a perfect restaurant where everything was so delicious and the service wonderful!!! Our evening flowing beautifully. We had such a great time, it was a friend's birthday party, she had never been here, I suggested it. She thanked me so profusely for suggesting Darya, and told me she loved the food and will be returning with her adult kids. Their belly dancer Karina was the best and so personable and really good. We even had a nice table off to the side giving us privacy and one of our gals got up and was dancing with her. The dinners came out of the kitchen quickly all at the same time, and everything was so tasty and well seasoned! Pantea, the Manager, was very kind and wonderful making sure everything flowed smoothly and came over and introduced herself making sure we were happy and well taken care of by her staff. If you like Persian food, this is your spot. It's very good. The beef and chicken kabobs are incredibly juicy but the chicken pieces are only made with white meat (I personally like the dark meat). We also love getting the eggplant, I included the picture with this review. With the entree you can order with it full rice or do half rice/ half salad. They offer Persian tea and ice cream.
