The food was about 4 stars considering the pricing (a little on the high side for what you get). The service was quick and friendly. We had reservations so weren't worried about waiting, but there were plenty of tables open for walk-ins. We went on a Saturday evening and there was a dancer that goes around soliciting tips, which to me, is a little much, but maybe it's a cultural thing. It was also a little noisy during the dancing/music. Our table wasn't interested so she came and went. The chicken shish kabob was much better than the chicken koobideh. We usually order takeout. Their lubia polo rice, grilled tomatoes, juicy chicken and beef koobideh are the best! They also give you flat bread with sumac spice that's tart. Delayed post. Came here with coworkers to celebrate Nowruz and had a great time. It was a large group, about 30 of us,and service was very efficient, even when it came down to the bill. Used to visit often but then pandemic happened and haven't been in that long. Persian food is one of my top 10 favorites. All the different spices and flavors. I hadn't been here in ages, and honestly, I'm not sure why! I recently came for a friend's birthday, and everything was fantastic. The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The portions were generous--we even had plenty left over for lunch the next day. The service was exceptional. Our tea, water, drinks, and bread were always refilled without us ever having to ask. Darya has been on my list, though the one in LA, not here. I visited on Father's Day in the afternoon, and there were many tables dining in. Amongst our friend group of young adults, one of the funniest recounts was how the staff member only said Happy Father's Day to one individual and not the rest of us - whom were coincidentally not celebrating, though we did not know til later. One of us came for juicy chicken, and we were initially disappointed to hear that they had a special Father's Day menu which did not include that. We instead ordered off the condensed menu menu for items like dough, lamb / beef kabobs, etc. We had their borani and yogurt based dip and a pitcher of dough to start off, and since that order, service was nonexistent unless we actively flagged someone down - including water refills. Once all of our entrees arrived, we all agreed that it was not impressive or normal; most of the meats were dry and very bland, which is unlike the Persian food that any of us had eaten - and we have had quite a bit before. The flavor and experience were something that not even sumac could've fixed. Was it perhaps that none of us were Persian that we were barely checked on and had to actively ask for everything? Or perhaps this was an off day - but no Father's Day? These questions may remain unanswered, but we all know which Persian restaurant to call a regular, and it's not this one. read more

Horrible service. The lady on the phone was arguing with me. I ordered over $200 on Uber Eats and they failed to pack my order correctly and had the audacity to blame Uber. Then I had to walk the lady on the phone through basic math skills. She still blamed Uber. Uber should cancel ther contract due to incompetence. To blame inflated uber price plus delivery and wait time. Absurd. You did not investigate the correct order. My receipt showed I added Shirazi salad and was charged for it. Your kitchen did not pack it. It's that simple. It's ok to admit an error or oversight but to lie and blame uber is poor business practice. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Darya Restaurant. We started with mast-o-moosir and tahdig topped with ghormeh sabzi and gheymeh--every bite was comforting and perfectly cooked. They also brought out freshly baked bread with butter to start, which was a great touch. For the main course, we ordered the fesenjoon and the soltani kabob. The fesenjoon was outstanding--hands down my favorite I've ever had. Rich, perfectly balanced, and unforgettable. The soltani kabob was also excellent, cooked just right and very flavorful. Went here for a lunch on a weekday, theplace wasn't full but it took awhile for our food to come out. But we were blown away by the food! My mom is a big fan of persian and or mediterranean food so we have tried alot of similar restaurants before but Darya is the best so far! We live in the South Bay, but have eaten at this particular Darya at least once a month for the past 6 months. My husband loves the lamb shank. Despite loving other dishes, he always orders and finishes the lamb shanks. I almost always order fesenjan, because it is my favorite and it is served with the radio. I was feeling feisty and ordered the marinated chicken kabob. It was so tender and flavorful that I may have a new favorite. The Darya salad is so balanced and refreshing, the feta, walnuts and dates give the salad many textures. I love the baked eggplant and yogurt with shallots. they make their bread there and it is soooo yummy. We were at the restaurant on a Friday and were treated to live music and belly dancing. Coming in is like stepping into a different environment. It's welcoming and peaceful. You're also greeted by the hosts soon as you enter. The staff my friends and I encountered were all so friendly and kind. Great customer service! Also, while waiting we were served pita bread with butter. We did order yummy appetizers which will be explained later in this review, and our server (I'm sorry I forgot her name but was wonderful tending to our table) then took our beverage orders. 2 of us ordered Perrier waters and one had drank water with lemon, and the my other friend took an iced tea. The food was just splendid and since it was my first time here, exceeded my expectations! I really thought I was going to taste the regular Mediterranean style I would order at other food spots; but this Persian spot was amazing! We ordered family style, and it's like the servers and cooks knew how much to serve our table, which was a group of 4. It was perfect. There was even leftover rice to take home, which one of my friends took. The rest of us really were full and so content. My friends and I just marveled at how much flavor and tenderness came through in each bite; better than the last. This was what was ordered for the 4 of us (family style): For appetizers, to go along with the pita basket, we ordered the Hummus with tomato and cucumber & the Maust which is a plain creamy yogurt, however it was delicious! We also ordered the Darya Salad which has in it: a combination of romaine lettuce and mixed greens tossed with tomatoes, cucumbers, lentils, raisins, dates, imported feta cheese, walnuts, and olives. None of us has allergies so we didn't remove any of the veggies or toppings. Each bite crunchy and flavorful. I enjoyed how each topping brought its flavored and went so well together. As the entrees we had ordered: 2 orders of the Chicken shish kabobs and 2 orders of the Filet Mignon shush kabobs. The chicken was cooked well but still very tender and moist! The charbroiled flavor was wonderful! As always, I love the roasted charbroiled veggies it comes with it as well. The Filet Mignon was juicy and tender (medium cooked as we asked) and it would melt in my mouth. That's how I experienced it. Seasoned to perfection too. Lastly we also ordered the Adas Polo Rice. This dish is a steamed white rice mixed with lentils, raisins, and dates. And my goodness, that paired nicely with the other items we ordered. Everything here was delicious that we had ordered. For my first time, it was a great experience and I can't wait to come back with my family and some more friends. read more

We decided to eat here and again Darya proves why they have been a staple of OC dining for so long. The staff is extremely welcoming attentive and friendly and the food is exactly what you expect when dining in a Persian restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. You can go here anyday and they will not disappoint. Our server was great but the entire team is amazing and check on eachothers tables. Even the manager comes by and checks in on each and every family. The restaurant is always clean and beautifully decorated inside with an amazing Musician and belly dancer starting at 7pm in weekends.
