Crispy bread and butter out of this world . My partner ordered Sabzi baghaleh polo with mahecheh. And I ordered my usual favorite Soltani . The food is crazy good , Kababs have no match in LA. First time visiting this darya location as we have been to the one near south coast plaza many times over the year. Inside has the same decor and the menu is also the same. We went there on Saturday for lunch at 1 and the place was 80% empty. I got their salmon dish and substitute the rice with the darya salad. What was weird was that the darya salad had kidney beans in it...not cool daddio...the combination of dates and walnuts and feta and raisins with lentils make sense and goes well, but what the hellmis kidney beans. Over all the food was good and plenty. I was only able to eat half my salmon. The fresh baked bread is also great. read more

BUT, when it comes to ordering a whole cheesecake for occasions (birthdays and Christmas), I'm very very disappointed with how they "prepare" it for pick-up. First of all, they're a little pricey and it's SUPPOSEDLY a "fancy" restaurant. That being said, they couldn't at least present the cheesecake in one of those cake/donut boxes?? Our friends love Darya restaurant. She would go there at least twice a week. Anyway, we came on a Sat night without any reservation, they were able to seat us. There was live entertainment with a guy playing his acoustic guitar and sang songs from different genres. We ordered Beef Koobideh with Cherry rice, Chicken Koobideh, and 2 Darya salads. Food were delicious. There was a belly dancer came at 7 pm to perform. That was disappointing. She was really not doing the belly dance at all. Anyway, it's entertainment nevertheless. I tried this restaurant 6 years ago and I decided to not go there anymore because of their terrible customer service and awful food but today I was on my way home and I decided to base on the Yelp score give this darya restaurant another shot and I just wasted my time. Their hostess was professional but it took a long time and no one showed up to take my order. I decided to not dine in there since there are a lot of awesome Iranian restaurants/ choices in OC; however, when hostess found out that I am leaving she asked a very tall and big waiter who was standing right there " why he delayed taking my order" ? he answered because I was busy but I saw him walking around and he wasn't do anything just pretending to work and denying giving service to their customer. This has been my favorite place since the 90's. The food is excellent quality. The service is always great. And we get seated and served quickly. It's always clean and well lit. They have a huge menu, but I've always stuck to the same thing, chicken koobideh, rice, yogurt with cucumbers, and flat bread with a side salad. Huge portions. Chicken is always so juicy! I would've added a picture but I started eating when that lemony chicken came to me. Leila is the best! She was so quick about grabbing all the random things we asked for. Like different breads, Splenda, extra napkins, and drink refills - she was on top of everything. We always feel so well treated here. And the food is just so good! Our family favorite. We all grew up coming here for our birthdays, graduations, valentines, anniversaries and family times. If you haven't tried it before you have to now. We came here for a dinner for ten, and overall it was a great experience. The interior is beautiful and creates a lovely atmosphere. The only downsides were that they were vacuuming during dinner, which was a bit distracting, and the tablecloths were paper, which felt a little out of place for the setting. Fabulous, the food was exceptional, the service with Paula our server handling our large table was just amazing, and the the restaurant was beautifully decorated is all I could say!! So rare to find a perfect restaurant where everything was so delicious and the service wonderful!!! Our evening flowing beautifully. We had such a great time, it was a friend's birthday party, she had never been here, I suggested it. She thanked me so profusely for suggesting Darya, and told me she loved the food and will be returning with her adult kids. Their belly dancer Karina was the best and so personable and really good. We even had a nice table off to the side giving us privacy and one of our gals got up and was dancing with her. The dinners came out of the kitchen quickly all at the same time, and everything was so tasty and well seasoned! Pantea, the Manager, was very kind and wonderful making sure everything flowed smoothly and came over and introduced herself making sure we were happy and well taken care of by her staff.
