I can't pick a favorite, all the meats were tasty, juicy and perfectly cooked- even the chicken. They even put certain meats of separate plates for dietary restrictions of some of the party. Coming in is like stepping into a different environment. It's welcoming and peaceful. You're also greeted by the hosts soon as you enter. The staff my friends and I encountered were all so friendly and kind. Great customer service! Also, while waiting we were served pita bread with butter. We did order yummy appetizers which will be explained later in this review, and our server (I'm sorry I forgot her name but was wonderful tending to our table) then took our beverage orders. 2 of us ordered Perrier waters and one had drank water with lemon, and the my other friend took an iced tea. The food was just splendid and since it was my first time here, exceeded my expectations! I really thought I was going to taste the regular Mediterranean style I would order at other food spots; but this Persian spot was amazing! We ordered family style, and it's like the servers and cooks knew how much to serve our table, which was a group of 4. It was perfect. There was even leftover rice to take home, which one of my friends took. The rest of us really were full and so content. My friends and I just marveled at how much flavor and tenderness came through in each bite; better than the last. This was what was ordered for the 4 of us (family style): For appetizers, to go along with the pita basket, we ordered the Hummus with tomato and cucumber & the Maust which is a plain creamy yogurt, however it was delicious! We also ordered the Darya Salad which has in it: a combination of romaine lettuce and mixed greens tossed with tomatoes, cucumbers, lentils, raisins, dates, imported feta cheese, walnuts, and olives. None of us has allergies so we didn't remove any of the veggies or toppings. Each bite crunchy and flavorful. I enjoyed how each topping brought its flavored and went so well together. As the entrees we had ordered: 2 orders of the Chicken shish kabobs and 2 orders of the Filet Mignon shush kabobs. The chicken was cooked well but still very tender and moist! The charbroiled flavor was wonderful! As always, I love the roasted charbroiled veggies it comes with it as well. The Filet Mignon was juicy and tender (medium cooked as we asked) and it would melt in my mouth. That's how I experienced it. Seasoned to perfection too. Lastly we also ordered the Adas Polo Rice. This dish is a steamed white rice mixed with lentils, raisins, and dates. And my goodness, that paired nicely with the other items we ordered. Everything here was delicious that we had ordered. First time visiting this darya location as we have been to the one near south coast plaza many times over the year. Inside has the same decor and the menu is also the same. We went there on Saturday for lunch at 1 and the place was 80% empty. I got their salmon dish and substitute the rice with the darya salad. What was weird was that the darya salad had kidney beans in it...not cool daddio...the combination of dates and walnuts and feta and raisins with lentils make sense and goes well, but what the hellmis kidney beans. Our friends love Darya restaurant. She would go there at least twice a week. Anyway, we came on a Sat night without any reservation, they were able to seat us. There was live entertainment with a guy playing his acoustic guitar and sang songs from different genres. We ordered Beef Koobideh with Cherry rice, Chicken Koobideh, and 2 Darya salads. I tried this restaurant 6 years ago and I decided to not go there anymore because of their terrible customer service and awful food but today I was on my way home and I decided to base on the Yelp score give this darya restaurant another shot and I just wasted my time. Their hostess was professional but it took a long time and no one showed up to take my order. I decided to not dine in there since there are a lot of awesome Iranian restaurants/ choices in OC; however, when hostess found out that I am leaving she asked a very tall and big waiter who was standing right there " why he delayed taking my order" ? he answered because I was busy but I saw him walking around and he wasn't do anything just pretending to work and denying giving service to their customer. They have a huge menu, but I've always stuck to the same thing, chicken koobideh, rice, yogurt with cucumbers, and flat bread with a side salad. Huge portions. Chicken is always so juicy! I would've added a picture but I started eating when that lemony chicken came to me. Leila is the best! She was so quick about grabbing all the random things we asked for. Like different breads, Splenda, extra napkins, and drink refills - she was on top of everything. We always feel so well treated here. And the food is just so good! Our family favorite.
