    Dry Sauteed String Beans

Have been coming to this restaurant for ages. I think it is the only original restaurant left in Milpitas Square. The restaurant is pretty spacious and decor is rather basic. You really come here for the food, not the ambience. The five of us ordered Hot Spicy Fish, Bean Curd Casserole, Bean Curd with Soup Stew, Dry Sautéed String Beans, Three Flavor Home Made Chow Mein, and of course our favorite Thick Sesame Bread with Green Onion. We came early on a Monday evening, so it wasn't too busy. This place can get pretty crowded. Food came out rather quickly and at a good pace. Their food is rather consistent and is usually pretty good. My favorite was the Three Flavor Home Made Chow Mein. The Bread was excellent as usual. Everything was tasty and delectable. Service was okay. Portions were big and prices were very reasonable and affordable. There are reasons why they can survive for so long even with a lot of competition!

I went on a Friday night. This place gets packed! The food here is amazing. The staff are really nice. Unfortunately the inside isn't well maintained. I found myself stepping on chicken from a previous customer, and wrappers were left around the floor. The food comes out super quick. The bathroom is clean. Pricing is fair. Parking outside can be competitive. I'll be back!

Excellent scallion bread. I take an extra one to go every single time. Reliable place to get good halal chinese food, childhood favorite and good to see this place is still going strong. Could use extra staff to help clean more thoroughly/efficiently. Family style restaurant, prefer breakfast. Part of a big restaurant complex.

Always hits the spot. Must get sesame green onion bread (the thick version). The kung pao scallop was honestly not that great as the scallops are the small bay scallops with too much batter. Chicken and jellyfish is another favorite of mine as well as the lamb with green onion. The combination chow mein with the thick noodles also is good but they made theirs too oily the last time I went.

Tables, menus, OK basically everything is super sticky and dirty. I only feasted on 1.5 green onion pancakes, 1 cup of tea and the provided corn egg drop soup because I lost my appetite. Came around the lunch rush. No more line and no more waiting. Still quite a bit of folks. Serves halal. Been around for a very long time. Often see customers ordering noodle dishes. Ordered the 1) green onion pancake thick which was dry and lacked flavor but somehow hit the spot, 2) seafood combo noodle soup... noodles are good but seafood is overcooked with ants in the soup, 3) lunch lamb with pickled cabbage... lamb is the portion you get at hotpot's so it's overcooked but goes well with the green onion pancake, 4) lunch hot spicy garlic beef... beef is sliced chunks of beef so it's more held together and less overcooked They provide corn egg drop soup with lunch which was thick and part of the highlight of the meal. Service inattentive and could care less. You have to hail them down for anything and everything. Plentiful parking. Located within a rather large Asian plaza with 99 Ranch.

We ordered the Shrimp & Walnut, Seafood Knife-Cut Noodles, and Sliced Fish with Black Mushrooms & Bamboo Shoots. I probably wouldn't get the shrimp and walnut again--it was over-battered--but the noodles and fish dish were both very good! This place is great for family-style dining, with generous portions and a home-cooked meal vibe. The staff was kind and welcoming. Next time, I'm planning to try one of their fried fish dishes. I also noticed a lot of tables ordering the Onion Sesame Bread with Green Onion--it looked popular, so we'll be trying that too.

I'll be up front and say that my family and I have been coming here since this place opened over 20 years ago, so I may be a little biased when it comes to this restaurant. While many things have stayed the same (the decor, most of the menu, and actually most of the wait staff!), there have definitely been some changes thru the years. They've had changes in ownership as well as changes in head chefs, though for the most part the recipes have always stayed intact, albeit with a learning curve for the new chefs as they get dialed in. Great Halal Chinese food all around, with fantastic sesame flatbread and my favorite, their seafood soup noodle with shaved noodles. We are big fans of their shrimp chow mein as well and their beef noodle soup. There's still the occasional hiccup where sometimes the seasoning of the food is a little under salted, but it still tastes good. As an aside, it's interesting to see the patrons thru the years. Many of the customers these days were kids that grew up eating at this restaurant with their parents, and now many are bringing their own children here as well. With how long this place has stayed in business the last 20 years, even thru the covid pandemic, you know this place is solid.

We came here to celebrate my niece and my son's high school graduation. We had ordered a set meal for 12 people. Everything was delicious. Service is great and atmosphere is great too. The place was packed for dinner. We were here from 6 to 7:30pm in a private room. By the time we were out, there were a line of people waiting for a table. Overall, we enjoyed all the dishes.

Pretty good, would come back! Service was efficient and polite. Food was served fast and fresh. Prices started at around $13 with big servings. Restaurant setting was comfortable with hot tea included. My individual dish ratings: * Lamb with cumin 3.5/5 - good, a little bit spicy, but I wouldn't order it again, just not memorable to me. * Sesame bread onion (thick version) 5/5 - amazing, moist and crispy. Enough to stuff 4 people. Great for sopping up saucy dishes. * Twice cooked tofu 4/5 - crispy tofu instead of pork, tasty cabbage * Sweet and sour chicken 3.5/5 - mostly sweet but chicken was crispy and tasted good, just one note

This review is for a DoorDash order, so I can't comment on the ambience or service. However, this restaurant has been around for years and stands out as one of the few Chinese Halal and seafood spots in the Bay Area. They've also opened Darda Express in Sunnyvale, focusing on quicker delivery with a limited menu. Today, we had the Hot and Sour Soup, Noodles with Gravy, Black Bean Chicken, and Vegetarian Chow Mein. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and flavorful. The Hot and Sour Soup leaned more sour than hot but was still solid. The Noodles with Gravy were the highlight - soft, thin noodles in a tangy, sweet-and-sour black bean gravy, topped with thinly sliced cucumbers. It reminded us of Korean Jajangmyeon, and we absolutely loved it! Definitely adding this to my go-to list for Chinese takeout. If you haven't tried it yet, give it a shot!

    Chilly Chicken

I have been there a few times before. We loved it before. But last time, the quality was not good, not like the previous. Chilly Chicken has small pieces. I am not sure if it has the piece of chicken or includes only the dough. And Mongolian Beef has small pieces of beef. It has bigger beef slices before. Only the bread with scallions was very good. I know workers were very tired, ok. But they are not genial. One of the workers brought the checks to the tables, without saying anything, and even while the customers were still eating. I don't recommend them anymore, and I won't go again. Ambience was so so, honestly not good

Been going to this place for years! The Peking duck, sesame bread, pan fried dumplings, garlic short ribs and Mongolian beef are to die for. This place gets crowded quick so be prepared to wait a bit before getting seated. The staff have limited English but are attentive. Good place for the family.

Are there any gluten free dishes?

    I don't believe so

Do they still charge 15% service charge when dining in? Is so, is it disclosed on the menu or on the bill?

As of Jan 3, 2024. The signage for 18% is still there. Looks like the restaurant wont understand until they go out of business. They need to change their policy to charge service tax for 5 or more people.

For Lamb with Chinese Pickled Cabbage Soup, what is exactly in it? Are any added sugars , sauces like soy sauces?

If you make it spicy U may not taste the sugar but yes it does have light soy sauces

Are they open to dine in? Thank you

No. They have take out open.

Tried calling this place yesterday and today and looks like they are shut? Anyone knows if they are open?

Yes, we are open for take out 11-2pm and 5-8pm.

How long has this place been open?

We have been going there for more than 25 years.

I heard that the owners have changed. Is the meat there still HALAL?

New owner is a Muslim and the old owners still have a stake in the business. All the meat is still Halal.

The base price starts off at $29.95, then you select your food options. There's an uncharged on the most popular selections like lobster and steaks. My lobster was cooked to perfection. Very tender and sweet. The filet was pretty small for the up-charge, and was slight over cooked from the medium rare I ordered. But was still tender and good. The grilled asparagus was a $4 up-charge and you only get 3 spears of asparagus. With the up-charged, my dish, the price was over $46. Lobster Roll - 5/5 The Lobster Roll was very delicious. You get some Lobster tail, but Lobster claw meat is more prominent (see pic). Still the spices along with the clarified butter made this roll very tasty and delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Market Broiler. The banchan variety is actually really good, which is a highlight for me, though the kimchi isn't my favorite. My personal go-tos are the Korean jelly (muk muchim), broccoli, tomato, and macaroni salad. I'd honestly come back just for the banchan spread. That said, for the price, the main dishes are just okay. One big plus: they serve purple rice, which I always appreciate. Service has been very hit or miss. Sometimes they're friendly and accommodating, but my last visit really threw me off. We asked for a refill on the muk muchim, and our server said they were "sold out"... but then the table next to us was immediately served it. I'd honestly rather they just say no than give an excuse like that.. it left a bad impression and made the experience feel off. A few thoughts on the dishes: * Budae Jjigae - A bit bland for my taste, heavy on kimchi and light on meats like spam, sausage, and bacon. * Galbitang - Light yet flavorful, with 3 large rib bones that had a good amount of meat. Comes with glass noodles, rice cakes, and thin egg strips * Japchae - Not complimentary here (you have to order it), but it's actually pretty good. * Seafood tofu soup - Just okay, nothing too memorable. * Galbi - Flavorful and reliable--can't go wrong, especially with purple rice. * Mul Naengmyeon - Refreshing and well done. * Seafood pancake - Crispy, not overly oily, and packed with seafood and green onions. * Bibimbap - Loved the crispy rice at the bottom, though the beef portion was a bit small. * Yukgaejang - Decent, but not as rich or flavorful as other spots. Overall, I'd say this place shines most in its banchan variety and comfortable dining space, but the inconsistency in both food and service makes it a bit harder to fully recommend

After trying the food, I definitely think they deserve more business. They offer raw marinated crab as part of their banchan, which is something I haven't seen before. My friend got a spicy beef tofu soup and it tasted very filling and perfect for a hangover. Nice auntie working front of house, prices are on par with other places. I believe it is a family run restaurant. Overall, seems like a place where you can order anything and you wouldn't go wrong. I look forward to coming back again.

Only complaint... besides the japchae, every banchan is "spicy." I wish they had fish cakes, potatoes or something sweet as a different flavor profile. Or don't add that spice to the bean sprouts to keep it mellow and refreshing. Bulgogi was soooo juicy, flavorful, and not dry at all. Seems as if they put a whole onion on the bottom lol. Soft tofu soup is a must order. Hit all the craves! Tofu ratio is totally worth the price of $18.95 Loved how they provided personal metal bowls with 1 cup of rice per person (I was watching the server pour it into each bowl haha). Only one female wait staff during my time here. Attentive and ease of banchan refill (I didn't try to refill the crab but I am guessing they unlikely would do so due to cost which makes sense). Very high end, elegant casual vibes. Tons of younger population dining in. Would I come back? Yes!
