Do not trust them at all. Get a second opinion especially for larger dollar repairs they claim you need. Also went because my battery kept dying on me having to get it jumped only for them to say it's operating at 12.29V so it's good! Nope it's not! Went to an auto place and they tested the battery as only operating at 1/4 of its power and they said below 12.4 is bad. But not at Kia because they don't want to stand behind warrantying a 1.5year old battery that went bad. I won't be buying a Kia again not getting any service from them. read more

I've been a loyal Kia owner for over a decade and never had issues until dealing with the Frederick Kia dealership. In 2022, I purchased a brand-new Kia Sorento, and just eight months later the vehicle began having major mechanical problems. Since then, the transmission has been replaced five times. Each repair required my vehicle to stay in the shop for a month or more, which significantly impacted both my personal life and my business. Throughout this entire process, I was dealing with these repeated breakdowns and extended repair periods while pregnant, and later while caring for a newborn, in addition to traveling with two other children. Despite being aware of this, the dealership never once showed empathy, flexibility, or concern for how severely this situation affected my family and day-to-day life. Most recently, while my vehicle was again in the shop, the dealership provided a rental vehicle that also broke down. I was originally told the tow would be covered. Later, I received a text stating I would be responsible for the tow, with the explanation that the rental shut down due to low gas. AAA confirmed this was not the case, and I personally verified the vehicle still showed approximately 20 miles of fuel remaining. When I went to pick up my vehicle, the situation escalated further. I was told my car would not be released unless I paid the fee. While my husband was on speakerphone explaining that a dealership cannot legally withhold a customer's vehicle without a valid, disclosed repair charge, the service representative assisting me, Ado, laughed and walked away while the legality of the situation was being explained. When I was again told I would not receive my vehicle unless I paid, I contacted the police to document the situation. Management later stepped in, acknowledged the fee should not have been applied, and released my vehicle. After I left, the service manager accidentally called me while discussing me and the situation, believing she was speaking with someone else. During that call, she questioned my reaction, despite being fully aware of what had taken place earlier. That call further highlighted the lack of professionalism and accountability throughout this experience. In addition, the primary service advisor I dealt with, Jack, was consistently condescending and dismissive, which only added to an already stressful situation. This dealership's handling of my vehicle and the way I was treated--from service staff to management--was unacceptable. After 14 years of Kia ownership, this dealership has single-handedly destroyed my confidence in the brand. I would never purchase another Kia and strongly advise others to avoid this dealership. read more

Was on the market for a new preowned car and saw that Darcars had one that had everything I was looking for, plus was reasonably priced. Kamisha, the sales consultant who I met with, was friendly and genuinely helpful, and the only reason this dealership gets any stars at all. Because after the pleasant initial meeting with Kamisha, another lady (sales manager?) came out to meet with us to discuss pricing, as in, pysch! The actual price for the car was $2000+ more than the list price, and that's not even counting taxes, registration, tags, you know, the actual fees we're required to pay. No, this lady somehow thought it was justified to charge us extra for the pre-sales maintenance done on the car, as well as their sales commission, and some other bogus fees I've never seen from other dealerships. Told her straight up I wasn't paying for any of that crap, and that if these "fees" are required for their dealership, they should've been part of the list price, and not do this bait and switch crap. She had the audacity to respond that because she was charging everyone for these fees, she couldn't remove them for me. Good to know that they're ripping everyone off equally right? Anyways, I ended up going to a different dealership that didn't play stupid games and got a car I liked even more at a better price. Tldr; Darcars is the definition of a sleazy dealership. On the plus side they got the Sorento my wife wanted transferred from KIA in Laurel When Hagerstown and Winchester KIA could not. However, they just waste your time with Bologna procedures for hours. My delivery appointment to sign and drive was 5pm and it was 630pm before they had the paperwork ready, after having all day to be prepared. WORST of all Kia requires you download their creepy stalker tracking app as a condition of buying a car. It took me a day to figure out how to delete their crap app from my phone. Love the vehicle we got, a candy apple red 2023 Sorento prestige hybrid, drives as nice as any Mercedes Benz GLE with same options for 1/2 the MB price. THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS THAT IS TRUSTWORTHY I wish I could give them 0 stars. I just found out my KIA Optima's engine has a major flaw where it loses oil quickly and the check oil light doesn't come on. I was down 3 quarts of oil within 5,000 miles without knowing it. This dealership acted like they didn't know it was a problem and gave me the run around about how KIA would cover it under warranty. After a lot of research, I now understand that this isn't true and that KIA has not honored hundreds of Warranties (I'm sure it's more, I quit looking at complaints after a while). This dealership is NOT loyal and is making this my issue and not offering me any help in resolving it with KIA. They basically are blowing me off and acting like its not their issue. They also tried to take advantage of me and talk me into buying another KIA. They are trying to tell me that it is not their fault, and pointing their finger at KIA. BUT, they knew this was an issue with my car and sold it to me anyway. They gave me an additional slap in the face by offering me $1,000 for my car. This is my fourth KIA from this dealership, I would have thought they would have assisted me in getting my warranty honored. I won't buy another KIA and I definitely won't buy from DARCARS. Upon responding the customer relations message here, I spoke to a very attentive staff member who listened to what had occurred and advised that she was going to escalate the matter to the corporate level. The staff member advised I would be contacted by a Manager. A short time later, I was contacted by the manager who was apologetic and advised that he would be taking steps to understand what occurred, and to change the environment at the used car sales department. The manager was candid, and provided a measure of relief that he would speak to all parties involved to ascertain what actionable corrections he has to take. While I do still feel like I was price gauged by being charged 14k over MSRP, the follow-up service to repair all of the issues we've had with our Kia has been top notch. They have gone above and beyond to try to make right all the things that have gone wrong with my Prestige. They have sent a driver 1 1/2 hours away 3 times to pick up my vehicle and provide me with a replacement vehicle so mine could be repaired. The WiFi was such an issue! I was about to give up on having WiFi in my vehicle, but Valery at Darcars Kia was determined to resolve this issue. She spent countless hours trying to make this right, and I truly appreciate. I now have functioning WiFi, fully functioning doors, and a repaired seat. All service issues have been resolved as of now. read more

I arrived at dealerships and asked about the Telluride and was told they just sold the last one. When asked about the next shipment coming in I was told 9 would be arriving on June 1 and that 8 of them were sold. The sales person went on to ramble on about the different trim packages and how many thousands of dollars each one was being sold at over sticker price, he even said the highest rated trim package was being sold at 10K over sticker and they would not even let people test drive the Telluride. The Team at DarCars Kia of Frederick were there for us when we were being snaked around the local dealerships here in Northern VA. "Demand Fees" in excess of $5,000 above MSRP and ridiculous other fees were being added on when we went to talk about pricing options here in VA. This did not happen at DarCars. After a short call with Brian and Constantin I shared my vision on what would work, if it was possible, and how to get everything done in a timely fashion. Horrible experience! I was lied to the minute I got on the lot. I know salesmen want to sell cars, but I'm not an idiot and I don't like being treated like one. When it came to negotiating for the car, I didn't feel taken seriously as a woman. I shouldn't be called sweetheart or dear when I'm in a business negotiation. And the chuckles anytime I asked for anything made it really uncomfortable. And worst of all, they sold me a car that WOULDN'T PASS INSPECTION!!! I purchased a Kia Optima around October 2016. Brian the sales man was excellent, however, the service representative lady Debbie - always had/have an attitude. Mark the manager is serious but helpful. I don't know why when you go to purchase a car, everyone is so nice and cool, but when you need service or there are issues with the vehicle you purchased, they act like you are their enemy. This is just ridiculous. I won't take my car there at all for service. I will take it for warranty issues but if she gives me hard time, it won't be a pleasant conversation. Took my car in to service the UVO unit which completely failed last week. This after I had taken it to my mechanic who told me that they were well known to fail, and that a patch had previously been sent out by KIA for UVO units, to try and deal with the problem. What this means is no phone, no backup camera image, no radio. My mechanic suggested I contact Kia to see if it would be covered by the warranty. I called them, and they told me to take it to Bill Baisey Kia. Mark Defibaugh, the service manager, informed me that I had to replace the entire unit, as it was the 'radio' that was the issue, and Kia only warranty it to 36,000 miles. My car at the time it stopped working had 45,700. Coincidence or planned obsolescence? Yet Kia warranty everything else to 60,000 miles. When I questioned this, and pointed out that it was a known problem,and not just the 'radio' he strongly denied it, saying the internet was full of complaints. He ignored my mechanics information. Mark Defibaugh the Service Manager was EXTREMELY RUDE and obviously ignorant to issues Kia is aware of, which is why they had previously sent a patch for the unit. Do not use them. Obviously trying to rip off the consumer with bad attitude when challenged. read more

These guys stole hundreds of dollars from me. Incompetent and shady from start to finish, plus terrible COVID etiquette by staff. Before driving out from DC, I asked them to send me close-up photos of a few apparent scratches on the front and any other imperfections, and they said that was all the damage. Then I get a certified check for the agreed-upon amount, drive an hour out there, and there is a 1-2-inch long crack by one of the tail lights. They were resistant to give any additional concession for it but finally agreed to about $300 off, some of which was really just them not handling my registration and thus not taking the fees for that. My check was already made out for the original amount, and they insisted they would have to wait for the money to clear before providing change/a refund for the excess. In the meantime, I waited way longer than promised to get the paperwork done and ultimately had to drive to another nearby Darcars to get it done, even though I was paying for it outright, no financing. Terrible indoor mask etiquette by managers and members of staff made the wait much worse and very uncomfortable (it was too cold to just stand outside, and they kept telling us we were next and to stay close when we weren't). Now it's been 3 months and they still owe me $300. First they pretended it was in the mail, now they just won't call me back. I also had to hound them to get the title paperwork done, and drive 2 hours roundtrip to pick it up so I'd have it before a very-hard-to-get DMV appt TWO MONTHS after the sale date.
