Visited Cleveland with some friends and this place was recommended to us! All I can say is WOW! This place is phenomenal. I can understand why he has multiple restaurants! We started with some champagne, and the special beet and tuna appetizer. Moved on to a bottle of red with not pictured my carbonara which was outstanding, my boyfriend pappardelle bolognese, my friends lamb shank, and other friends ribeye steak! We all tried each other's and none of us were disappointed. We loved it so much we went to Dante's next door the next morning for brunch! Also delicious. I will be back! read more

5 course chef table with wine was outstanding! Service was very attentive and fantastic. Best place in Cleveland.

We had dinner here one evening. I was surprised as the restaurant is an old school residential neighborhood - lots of large trees, very shaded. Which is very cool!There was no immediately evident parking spots when I pulled up - so I took advantage of the Valet parking and let them worry about where to park the car. I arrived a few minutes early and sat at the bar to await the arrival of the rest of our party. The bar is kind of cool - there is one section at the end that has a glass top - and inside are some gears and other mechanical stuff - kind of a steampunk look almost. Turns out the building used to be a bank! Our server was very friendly and efficient. I ordered an IPA - can't remember the name but it was a local IPA - crisp with tones of citrus and pine, with a nice bitterness and very hoppy! Delicious! For dinner I had the "Salad of 7 Vegetables" and their Mushroom Bouillon with ginger, scallions, shrimp wontons. The salad was fresh and full of crisp vegetables with a balsamic vinaigrette of sorts, They bring out the bowl with the contents placed in the bowl, and then pour the mushroom broth fresh and hot out of a little serving kettle or pitcher over the ingredients. The broth was rich and flavorful, with a wonderful earthiness to it. I could drink a gallon of that mushroom broth! I can see coming back here again! read more

We were very excited to try this restaurant for our anniversary as the food sounded delicious and the chef is spoken of very highly. We both ordered the chef's 5 course tasting (one normal and one vegan) and were both disappointed. The food was not nearly as good as we expected. Should've known it was too good to be true when I saw vegan options at a nice restaurant. Not worth it at all. As for the non-vegan tasting, the food was decent but not impressive. read more

Very long wait times for service and one person in our party of 6 got his order 15 minutes after the rest of the entrees arrived. Tuna tartare was pretty good but on the small side. Ravioli was dry, bolognese was excellent. All the desserts were good. Wine recommendations were ok, but the wine list was pretty limited. We had to ask for a chiller for a chilled white wine which was odd. It's really nice that you can order different serving sizes of the pasta to try different things. It's unfortunate that the whole table would have to do the tasting menu. A couple of us wanted to do it but we're unable. They should at least be clear about that restriction on the menu. Overall we were there for nearly 3 hours with a lot of time spent waiting for us to place or receive orders. Food was generally pretty good but you can do a lot better in Cleveland for the price. A posh staple of Tremont's growing gourmet kingdom. I wasn't sure when I'd have the occasion (and funds) to dine at Dante, but bae pulled through and surprised me with a reservation at the Chef's Table for my birthday! It's aptly named - you're literally taken to a booth style table in the front kitchen to watch as desserts are whipped up, noodles boiled, plates wiped clean, and dishes whisked away by suave runners. Just be ready to smell like kitchen oil by the time the meal is finished. Chef Boccuzzi needed a vibe and menu to match the old-timey luster of an old bank building. This is the kind of place where waiters scrape away bread crumbs off the table and fold your napkins when you get up to use the restroom. Also, the type of place where you can barely see your neighbors and food unless you're in the kitchen. The setting perhaps also serves to remind that the restaurant has collected a fortune from the price tag on each meal. We opted for the 5-course tasting menu so that we could be surprised. And also to reduce the time agonizing over what to order. (You can essentially opt for as many courses as you can eat/pay for, but the most common choices are 5 or 7 courses.) Our waiter for the evening was uber attentive and started us off with some house-made bread and hummus. Both seemed pretty run-of-the-mill, but luckily we were also sipping some excellent prosecco and moscato. Our courses: 1. A raw fish (I think sea bass?) delicately arranged on colorful radishes with mushrooms, arugula and orange puree. I'm not much a fan of sashimi or tartare, but this dish was a hit. The two types of mushrooms were the stars of this Instagram-worthy show. 2. Linguine with pork belly, purple potatoes, and garlic sauce. Knowing Dante's Mediterranean roots, we were really hoping for a pasta dish. However, this one was a let-down. The sauce was pretty bland and the pork too chewy. 3. Scallops with apple, celery root, and pomegranate. Dante swung gracefully back into our good graces with this home run. I don't think I've ever had such buttery scallops, made even more impressive with the beautiful sear on top. 4. Quail with prosciutto-wrapped carrot, radish, and mustard seeds. A fun, rich dish. Forever referred to by us as "tiny chicken". Watch out for the bones! 4.5 We had been watching the kitchen prepare these little dishes of sorbet and fruit and were joking that if they served this to us as the dessert course, we were leaving. Next thing we knew, two of these plates were set in front of us and I had to struggle not to laugh. Thank goodness, this was only a palate cleanser. 5. Our lovely waiter actually got us two different desserts, somehow reading our minds as we were watching the kitchen prep and getting us exactly the ones we wanted. I had a layered blueberry and chocolate mousse parfait that I'm sure is the dessert of queens. Our other dessert was a unique brownie of espresso and chocolate-covered banana, with some torched bananas and a sesame seed crisp. This is for the dessert heavyweights, requiring a true dedication to chocolate and sweetness to finish. Two hours later we were stuffed with appetizers, 5.5 dishes, and 3 glasses each of wine, and barely able to roll out of the booth. The Chef's Table is a coveted spot at Dante, but also can be an awkward position since you're trying not to make the chefs feel like zoo animals while also wondering what they think of your dining etiquette (or lack thereof). However, it's also one of the best routes to getting a photo with Chef Boccuzzi himself (remember to suck in your post-meal pudge!). Be sure to stop by the giant glass candy bowls and fill your pockets on your way out! read more

Beautiful restaurant! Elegant & our waitstaff was extremely attentive! We ordered the honey roasted Brussel Sprouts & the maple glazed pork belly polenta - both were delicious! I would 100% order the polenta again & again! For our meals we ordered Pappardelle Bolognese & the Branzino - the pasta was loaded with flavor & delicious! Now I'll be honest.. I didn't pay attention to what I ordered (the Branzino) just saw filet & our server said it's one of her favorites! I don't eat fish... but ate every bite! So that shows just how good it was! On any ordinary night Dante is a fabulous experience. But on the 10 Th anniversary Dante kicked it up a notch to inferno level! The staff was attentive and passed food all night long. Plates were cleared tables set and cleaned for turnovers. The staff did an incredible job of keeping up with the moving crowds. I don't know how the pizza guys kept up with the demand but the ovens were flaming all night long with a variety of pizzas available all night. My favorite was the goat cheese with pistachios! The band played upstairs with 3 more bands scheduled to play in coda... it was a great night to meet and greet with fan favorites of Dante. It was a great party with attention to detail. The food here is excellent. It's an Italian restaurant but definitely more than just pasta dishes. The cocktails are also great; they make a fantastic Manhattan. Parking is kind of limited due to the area being busy and the parking lot being small (and there is a fee). Overall, though, would definitely recommend this place to anyone for a nice semi-upscale dinner. read more

We went here for my boyfriends birthday dinner and had a great experience. We shared 3 tasters of the pasta (the Linguine Alla Carbonara was our favorite but all were amazing). After the tasters we were so full but had ordered the duck too. The duck was exquisite. For dessert Dante also specially accommodated the dessert so it was appropriate for a birthday with a candle and everything! Overall excellent experience and service. With all the new restaurants opening around town I had not been to Dante's in some time. I was immediately reminded why they have been in business so long and why they remain one of the best restaurants in northeast Ohio. We were seated in the back room near the fireplace, incredibly cozy atmosphere. I'm not certain how many members of their waitstaff stopped by our table throughout the evening, but each was professional and attentive. We enjoyed the campfire and big kahuna cocktails as well as wine. And then there's the food...we shared 3 appetizers: tuna tartare, oysters and the mushroom crepe, each prepared beautifully. We shared a few of the pastas and the pumpkin chicory salad for our next course and the lamb shank for an entree. Superb. This place has remained consistent and impressive; always special. read more

It was a disappointing experience at Dante. My boyfriend and I chose this place based on the excellent reviews, the food was mediocre at best. We ordered "creamy" blue crab soup and cold vegetable rolls for appetizers, the soup was extremely watery and had the consistency of a broth, not at all creamy, the vegetable rolls were underwhelming. Oh and did I mention we waited for over half an hour for those tiny portions of food? After appetizers, here comes another 45 mins wait for our entrees. We ordered vegan lasagna and fish. They were alright but not worth the price. The lasagna portion was large but did not compensate for the extended wait times and the disinterested waitress. We originally planned to order dessert to finish the meal but decided to leave instead based on our terrible experience. It was quite odd since they have an abundance of waiters and waitress that kept walking by all the tables with seemingly no intention to check on the customers. Overall, we left right after we finished our entrees and felt like the part two hours were an experience not worth remembering. Perhaps our experience was out of ordinary for the typical Dante experience, however, we would not recommend it. read more

They say they have vegan options but there's 1 thing on the entire menu. So I was a little disappointed by the menu options. I got a 7 vegetable salad and it was all lettuce with a few vegetables garnished on top. I was expecting more vegetables if the salad is called 7 vegetable salad but I was wrong. One of the worst dining experiences I've had, especially considering that it's a $100+ meal. There is drama at the back of the house, staff/managers taking orders and not communicating, etc. Food took almost 2 hours to come out, asked to speak to the manager but the manager never showed up. The food is alright, maybe it's because I'm not from Cleveland, but the food is mediocre at best so I don't get all the positive reviews. Definitely wouldn't pass for fine dining in NYC, chicago or any other major city. Ordered the mussels, which were good, the polenta which was too cheesy and tasted like something from an average Italian restaurant. Had the steak for an entree which was ordered medium but came out medium well and no one came to ask how the steak was, which I think is a reasonable expectation given that it's a $50 steak, and the duck, which was honestly the least tasty duck I've ordered. Also had a raspberry dessert which was decent but nothing to write home about. Between the mediocre food and the piss poor service, won't be dining here again. read more

My husband and I came for a special occasion during the COVID pandemic, and they did a great job with social distancing and following the restrictions. We sat in the "back" room, and the space was huge. The tables were placed 6+ feet apart and had plastic screens in between. We actually preferred this area because of the space and low noise. The other dining area with the bar and vault were busier and noisy. The food here was fantastic and definitely deserves its accolades. We initially went with the five course tasting menu, but after 3 courses, we decided to change to the seven course because the dishes were phenomenal. We had tuna carpaccio, pork belly, butternut squash ravioli, seared scallops, salmon, strip steak, and dessert (not sure what it was). Every dish came with some sort of grain or vegetable sides, and they elevated the main protein. All the dishes had a great mix of savory, sweet, and sour. The portion size was actually pretty large for a tasting menu. We were full even before the last 2 main courses came out and would have been fine with 5 courses, but we wanted to try more of the chef's creations! read more

If there's one thing that is missing in quantity in the Cleveland dining scene is to have more fine dining restaurants offering multi-course tasting menus. Dante hits that scene perfectly, even though it adds a Cleveland / Midwest twist, as these are not the small courses you typically find in tasting menus in some other larger cities, so be prepared for plenty of food. Everything tasted amazingly, the plating was a bit off on one of my appetizers, but otherwise they do a great job, and I'd highlight the black cod - that was amazing and perfectly cooked. Would give only one recommendation to the restaurant / recommendation when you book - on a Saturday night the restaurant sat us in the Dante Next Door dining room next door (no pun intended) which is not nearly as trendy and nice looking as the main room, but mostly problematic as there was a rock concert going on in the basement bar below. Our waiter was great and ended up moving us by the time dessert got there - as the floor was shaking more frequently - but this type of noise and vibration is not what you have in mind when you choose the price tag of a tasting menu like Dante's (note i'm not considering this as something to remove from their score, but would definitely try to avoid this room if you're going for a gourmet experience). read more

Finally was able to find time to dine here. As a first timer, I like to always do the tasting menu to get a "taste" of a variety of food. Of course we also took the wine pairing. First off the wine choices were excellent and paired well with each course. The pasta with lobster course was my favorite with the lemon zest setting off the flavor of the lobster, spring peas, and light sauce perfectly. I would have been happy just eating a whole bowl of it. The third course of cod and an exquisite escargot dish was delightful. I was disappointed in the fourth course with the strip steak, admittedly the bearnaise was very good but the meat a bit tough to cut and chew...would have been better less cooked. Dessert was dark chocolate with pistachio and raspberry...that garnered a thumbs up from my dinner partner and a "ahem" from me.. Thanks to Covid, I have to admit I was happy to see the plexiglass up between tables, not for health reasons, but it gave a layer of privacy among tables which we did enjoy. The glass also allowed an openness to enjoy the ambience of the venue. It still feel private. The tables are also well positioned so as not to have to squeeze in and out seat....a bit of a pet peeve of mine. The first impression I got of Dante was unfortunately not a good one. We had a party of eight and when we got there for dinner we were told our reservation wasn't until 8 p.m. -- an hour later, and that there was *no way* we could get a table before then. But that we could wait at the bar. We called the person making the reservation to make sure there was no mistake on our end and there wasn't, so I was getting disappointed that the hostesses didn't seem that sympathetic. After asking them again if there was any way they could fix it, they said they would bring out the manager "to fix it", and five minutes later we were seated at table for eight. From there, however, our experience just went up and up. We ordered a bottle of Dom Perignon and then some other bottles of champagne and drinks. All eight of us decided to do the five course tasting menu with the wine pairing, and the food was delicious! Also, each dish was decadent and it felt like they were stepping it up with every course. Some of the food was heavy such as meats but it was balanced out with seafood, vegetables, and an aperitif. For each course, they would fill new glasses, take away any old glasses we didn't want, and then leave the bottle on the table for us to finish off. My husband's friend who has done the tasting there before several times mentioned that they leave the bottle even if it's just two people -- so wow, you really get your money's worth. For me, service is one of the most important things I'm looking for in a restaurant experience and our servers were outstanding. They explained each course shortly after it was brought out and then explained why they paired it with such wine. One of us had a dish that she forgot to tell them she didn't like (seafood) when asked if anyone had any allergies and they made her a completely new dish instead of just taking it away and leaving here without a course. Also, I had told the waiter in the beginning that I favor whites over reds, and he would bring out white wine for me particularly when the pairing for the course was red and explained each bottle to me. At the very end of dessert, a brother and friend of one of our friends came up from the sushi bar downstairs and saw us, so they easily brought chairs to join the table. We ordered three bottles of red wine after dinner because they are extremely rare and well-cultivated, and we were all surprised to find such rare wine at a random restaurant in Cleveland! The men were also surprised by the bourbon, but I wouldn't know too much about this. We will definitely come back, barring the initial experience, and it was a treat to bring some out of town guests to. Make sure to grab some candy on the way out ; ) read more

I don't remember exactly what everything on each tasting plate was, but I will get you close... 1st Course - salmon tartare, green salad, light buttery sauce 2nd course - homemade pasta with crab, tomato slightly spicy 3rd Course - miso cobia (best course of the night) 4th Course - beef tenderloin with cauliflower purée 5th - various desserts If the cobia was on the menu next time, I might just get that, but there was not one disappointing item on the tasting menu. Every time I go to Dante it's a wonderful experience! The food is so beautiful and sooo tasty its an easy decision for my husband and I to agree where we're going to have dinner. They have a huge wine selection and also make really good craft cocktails. The charcuterie is soo much better then MOST with delicious moose liver, mortadella and delicious cured salty meats and the food is spot on on! My first experience at Dante was Valentine's Day years ago and our server gave us a complementary tasting size of the carbonara it is literally TO DIE FOR so every time we go we get it every time (still a tasting portion because it's so heavy, but it's literally the best thing in the world) Dante is doing it,and doing it right! #clevelanddining read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Every dish we ordered tasted like someone shoveled (not dumped, shoveled) a pound of salt on every piece of food. Nothing was edible, and when we informed our waitress she did absolutely nothing- no manager, no chef, nothing. I'm not even finished my meal and I'm already reviewing this place. Wow. I'm speechless from this Ramen but i'll attempt to put my feelings into words. The ramen came out pretty darn close to 9:30, given I had been at the restaurant since 8pm. NOTE: RAMEN IS NOT SEEVED UNTIL 9:30 ON WEEKDAYS. So the anticipation mixed with the fantastic red blend of wine from Dante himself, to the hunger in my stomach made the wait worth it in the end. Beef broth and ramen noodles is the way to go. Perfectly poached egg, tender and juicy pork, the most flavorful broth I've ever tasted in a ramen. Full shiitake mushroom caps too. I'm blown away by the craftsmanship behind this "simple" dish. The food was fabulous. Every single thing we tasted was absolutely wonderful. The problem is it too way. Too. Long. The five course tasting menu was delivered at a rate of about 20 minutes between plates, each plate being about 3-4 bites of food. Anyone else at the table who did not order the tasting menu will be waiting for their entree until the 4th tasting plate is delivered. The lights were dimmed to be very, very dark. The woman next to us had to hold her candle next to the menu just to read it, pioneer style. With a couple drinks in you, honey, you will pass out cold. By the time our entrees arrived we were exhausted, cranky, STARVING and ready to go home. It's really difficult to enjoy an expensive meal when you're feeling that way. It was a 3 star experience for me but I'm giving it 4 because I understand that Saturday nights are tough in the first place, and our server was very lovely. But overall to be honest it was a disappointing experience even though the food was great. read more

Great service, great drinks, and great food. I like their focaccia bread with hummus. It is a unique take on the typical starter bread. We started with the calamari and shrimp -- perfectly breaded and the sauce was enjoyable. I had the scallops and my boyfriend had the steak. The scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The pumpkin ravioli on top was a great surprise. He loved his steak and the potatoes that come with it are to die for. Sooo good!
