I wanted to like this place I really did but I think people hyped it up so much that I set my expectations too high. This place gets very busy depending on when you go so it gets a little too tight for comfort. I kind of felt like people were eating on top of me when we were seated eating dinner with a group of friends. Service is decent but if you want to go for drinks, it's probably best to just go to the bar for faster service. We ordered a couple of dishes to share and try. I ordered the Banh Bao and the presentation is there until you open up the bao. I was very disappointed to see more fat to actual meat ratio in my dish. It was also a little bland so I got a little more disappointed that we paid so much for bland food. I think the only thing we did like was the fried calamari because I would have never thought to dip it in sweet chili sauce. read more

Fat Cats doesn't believe in the Americans with Disabilities Act. They firmly believe in ableism. Like many overpriced, hipster joints, Fat Cats has the dreaded QR code menu. It's unclear why, because their outdated menu without the specials is printed on paper and laminated. That's a $2 endeavor, so they certainly can afford to have a printed menu that's accessible for those who need to read a printed menu. It's not as if this is the first ableist menu I've encountered, so while I hate them and can't read them, I have a course of action. I asked the server for a menu of their specials and they said, "Yeah he doesn't do that." But then they laughed at me and said, "I can pull it up on my phone and you can read my phone." When I told them I would happily read it on my own phone if I could read a menu on my phone, they were confused and appeared to lose all cognitive ability. That's when I decided to leave. My server maintained their confusion and had nothing to say. I said, "Please tell your manager we are leaving because the menu is inaccessible." As I left, they proceeded to talk shit to other guests on the patio. Perhaps their overpriced and scatterbrained menu is delicious. Unfortunately, I never got past the water. We started with the Ollie tequila cocktail and a standard margarita. Both were excellent. We moved next to the crispy Brussels sprouts with cashews and apple. It was an interesting combination and very good addition. Next was the bread and tapenade which was very good. Entrees were the swordfish special and the pork belly bowl. Highly recommend both of these. We ended with the chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream and bread pudding with vegan ice cream. In both cases the ice cream was the star. The dessert themselves was just ok. My only area for improvement would be elimination of flying bugs. There were not a lot but more than I would want around my food indoor. I always have an amazing time here and its such a great atmosphere. Employees are always very friendly and helpful and along with the service, the menu is one of the largest I have ever seen. I never have an issue picking something and their specials are very fun too. I usually get the Fried Chicken Sandwhich or the Steak Sandwich. Huge disappointment. We went because it was once on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. Well, whatever the magic was before....it has left the building. The service was good but the food lacked all flavor, the burger was severely overcooked (I.e. shoe leather) and the bun looked like it had been put in the oven too long or under a heat lamp too long. Was here with friends for dinner so we ordered a bunch of stuff. We Ordered fried calamari which was pretty good, the sauce could've been better but it was a really good portion. We also got some warm goat cheese which was amazing too and some sweet potato shrimp which turned out to be a surprise because it was soo good we did not expect it. The pork belly bao was ok since I've had better baos and the Fried Brussels were an absolute delight. I ordered a Fried chicken sandwich which was pretty okay-ish but honestly I have had wayyyy better fried chicken at other places and at cheaper rates. The chicken was definitely fried twice to make it crispy but that also made it bitter probly cos of reused oil. The sweet potato fries on the side were oily as well! Unfortunately overall, that was one greasy plate of food. The pork meatball banh mi wasn't too great as well. The meatballs on their own were pretty dry, so it wasn't worth the hype. I went here based on a friend's recommendation! It's so fun! It looks like it used to be a house that got renovated into a restaurant. I've never experienced anything like that until I moved to Cleveland and I know there are a few spots like that and they've always been so good. I've been here a few times in the last couple of years during my trips to Cleveland. It was just recommended and I liked it enough the first time that I wanted to try it again. Parking can be a little bit difficult to find but if you search around, there will be street parking. There can also be a wait here close to dinner time even during the week. But every time the food is delicious! Ambience is very relaxed and there are tables all over as you can tell this is probably a house where people lived in at one time. We have tried the bao buns with the pork pierogies, the arroz caldo, the deviled eggs with salmon roe, lemon creme brulee, and best of all was the fallen chocolate cake with ice cream. That was the best part of every trip! I don't know how they do it but it's just so delicious. All the other food is so tasty and good. I would recommend getting a couple of appetizers with one of the entrees. I usually just got a burger which was always good but it was always the appetizers and the dessert that made it work for me. I had such high hopes for this place. The restaurant looks so cozy from out outside, so eclectic inside, I was hoping for simply amazing lunch. The staff was super polite and very attentive. The lady that greeted us in the front room had a very good idea of what was happening and invited us to sit at the bar while our table was getting ready. My friend order dishes they enjoyed, ribeye sandwich and fried chicken were great according to them. Unfortunately, my burger fell short. It was plain and messy. The burger patty was so plain that I had to request other condiments to finish it. Fries were more soggy than crisp. Luckily, I also order butternut squash soup which was very good. Grilled octopus was a perfect mix of citrus and savory with cashews and veggies. The green curry with cashew crusted tofu was fantastic. They even brought it without rice as I asked! It wasn't great. We carried out and it just left something to be desired. My daughter ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and asked for the toppings to be placed on the side. They were placed on the sandwich. She also asked for regular fries instead of sweet potato fries, and they gave her sweet potato fries anyways. We also ordered the Quinoa Bowl. It didn't have any tahini sauce, and just so you know, it has olives on it but nowhere on the menu does it say there are olives on that item. It just tasted like a lot of citrus or lemon flavor with no fat to give it depth. We also ordered the bread pudding. It's supposed to come with caramel sauce. No caramel sauce. This is a really adorable building and location. Was seated right away with fast service. I got the warm goat cheese with bread and it was insanely good. Got a crab melt after, it was pretty good but would get something different next time. Got lemon cake dessert which I forgot to take a pic of but that was great too. Pretty cheap too!! My sister and I had a great dinner at Fat Cats. It was really hard to narrow down the menu options to an only slightly unreasonable amount of food. We ended up sharing a selection of the small plates. My favorite dishes were the Brussles sprouts and the Kimchee potatoes. The sprouts had apple chunks and cashews in the dish, for a really great flavor. The Kimchee potatoes had a lot going on, but were so good - fried potatoes, kimchee, and an over easy egg. We sliced up the egg and the potatoes were really good dipped into the yolk. We had a round of creative cocktails - I think the favorite was the Amalfi spritz - lemony and fizzy. Finally, we ordered the creme brulee, but it has lemon and lavender in it for a slightly herbal sweet treat, with a great cracked crust! Gender neutral bathrooms, first come seating, and there is nothing I can say about the parking that everybody else hasn't said. read more

In Cleveland for just a few days and decided to try the place out for dinner. I looked them up online and thought they had a pretty cool spread of options. I also saw online it may help to make a revelation because they are smaller establishment. We got seated as soon as we arrived and greeted kindly by the hostess. Our server was also very kind and came to us within seconds of sitting down. As for food we started with the pork bao buns and chickens wings. The boa buns were out of this world, some of the best pork belly I've ever had and buns! The wings fell flat and only came with 3 wings for $9. Don't think it's worth it. For entrees we got the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potatoe fries and the ribeye sandwich with house fries. The chicken sandwich was also disappointing. It had a ton of bread and not much chicken at all. The chicken also didn't have the crunch you usually get with fried chicken. The sauce on the sandwich itself was tasty though, and enjoyed the flavors. The fries were good and enjoyed the crisp. The steak sandwich was good but also had a lot of bread, and the fried were okay but soggy. If we came back we would probably stick to some of the Asian style meals and primarily stuff with the pork belly. Though we probably wouldn't recommend it here. Fat Cats is a fun diner with quirky decor and delicious Asian-fusion inspired dishes. My friends and I came for brunch and left raving about our experience. The fried chicken sandwich featured a tangy and fresh slaw. I got a veggie omelette that came with delicious crispy potatoes. They only serve brunch on Saturdays but I honestly wish I'd gotten something off of their regular menu because everything looks so good. I'll definitely be back to try other menu items! read more

Food is amazing. Lumpia was perfect! The chicken sandwich was excellent; however the stars of this dinner were the burger and sweet potato fries and standard fries. These three items in particular were absolutely outstanding. By the second bite of the burger, I concluded: this is the BEST burger I have ever eaten, I think. I didn't know burgers could be this good. Tons of flavor, juicy. It's perfectly balanced. You don't taste only onions, or tomato, or salt, or garlic. It's all melded together....it's perfectly proportionate. The sweet potato fries also made me just about swoon. I've had sweet potato fries before...and they were super sweet. These offered a more savory taste, still sweet, but not as sweet as I have had. They're downright addictive. The regular fries looked boring but one bite with the sauce proved me wrong. Again, fantastic. I love the Filipino choices on the menu! Try the beef lumpia if you love crispy egg and fried spring rolls. I bet you'll have a new favorite. I took off one star for service. The servers were obviously overworked. They were rushed, and consequently were taking shortcuts, taking a long time, and in general you feel like you are ignored. We had a reservation, but waited almost thirty minutes anyway because they had to bus our table. Be aware of this. Don't take a date here because you will get frustrated OR take a date here to see how they treat overworked staff. My message to Fat Cats is: hire a hostess. Hire a food runner.
