Can't recommend Elle High Enough!! We've had Elle on our list of restaurants to try and were finally able to dine there with friends this past Friday evening. So glad we did!!! We had an amazing time. From all perspectives (e.g., a warm, inviting dining room vibe, a thoughtful menu and carefully crafted cuisine and drink preparation - loved the octopus app and entrée options, the high touch yet non-intrusive service, etc.). Elle far surpassed our expectations and should be high up on your list of Cleveland 'go to' restaurants. Kudos to Chef Gio for an inspired menu (updated quarterly to capture the best of each season) and to the staff for providing a seamless, outstanding dining experience. Very nice better restaurant in Solon. Come as you are, tho diners looked nice. Went on a Tuesday at 4 p.m. for Happy Hour. Elle has a small menu of reasonably priced items, and drinks. Dinner specials were also included. We had the side salad, which was large and a meal, lamb meatballs, flatbreads and octopus. All were delicious. Our server was wonderful. We had a reservation for nine, so the table was partially set. From the water being poured she kept service moving. Wish I remembered her name. She gave us separate checks. Lots of parking in back. Portions are pretty small. happy hour prices are good for food, but the dishes are either smaller or missing elements compared to the normal menu (which was not what I was told when I had called to ask). It's hard to do a full review of this place as we only had 2 things. Soup - very oversalted. Beet salad - half of salads were croutons. Once we took the croutons out, there was very little left. We wanted to order couple other things but it is all cooked in calamari oil and we can't have that. The place itself looks like a standard bar type of place. read more

My family and I didn't want to go all the way to Cleveland for dinner so we decided to go to Elle in Solon. We were all decently impressed by the quality of the food. The veal bolognese was delicious and came with a lot of meat. The pasta was cooked well, and the ricotta on top added such a nice touch. I also tried the lobster bisque, though it was too salty for me. This is one of the nicer fine dining restaurants in Solon, and I think it'd be a great place to have a date night or celebrate with a small group of family/friends. read more

Give this restaurant a try but for us we will never go back mainly because it's expensive. The wine prices are insanely high. The owner came over and said hello which was very nice. The ambience does not work for me but I'm sure for others it might. read more

We had salad starters; house salad was nice and fresh with a (too) sweet vinaigrette and a very bland " classic" Caesar salad with cherry tomatoes?? However the entrees were much better. Portions were ample; chicken piccata was flavorful and accompaniments were fine. Scallops were tender and nicely finished with the ( gluten free) risotto which was very nice. This was a nice surprise! I didn't see this restaurant with a lot of reviews and I immediately was very critical. The front door is actually closed (facing the street), enter through the back (Parking lot there too). We requested and got the patio, which was also very nice. Great beverage selection and they all tasted very unique and authentic. The Heartbreaker was very floral while Through the Tall Grass was refreshing. There were 4 of us and each couple got the calamari for appetizer. Delicious! Dipping sauce could use a variety, the cream-base was a bit heavy, but the pickled carrots and tossed greens made it feel a bit lighter. My meal was the short ribs....tender, great potion and very tasty. Wife got the steak and frites, she said the steak could have been seasoned more; but it was cooked perfectly. Fabulous food, service ambiance and mocktails. Came for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed. I had the short rib with polenta and carrots, my SO had the swordfish and muscles also at the table the pork dish and calamari were tried. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the calamari appetizer was very fresh and a good sharing portions. Waiter was passionate about the menu and flavors and gave great recommendations. We were there to enjoy each other's company and celebrate and did not feel rushed at all which was also nice. Would definitely come back for a nice dinner. read more

Elle is a great restaurant. I would give her 5 stars if she had more vegetarian and vegan dishes. I have to go with salad and fries unless they have vegetarian soup du jour. David and I like go to Elle after yoga to enjoy a light bite sometimes. We absolutely loVe Kay, the coolest open minded Californian bartender on this side of the Mississippi! It's a great vibe! I really enjoyed coming here for the first time. The service was great and the people were super friendly. Bartender made us a custom peach martini which was delicious. We started with the whipped buratta and it was amazing, I had to finish the entire plate. Entrees were linguini and salmon. Salmon was cooked to a perfect medium with a fantastic outer crisp. The linguini was a massive portion and the sauce was delicious, plus it was perfectly al dente. I can't rave enough about the interior design and ambiance of this place too. Great patio that's covered, real New Orleans vibe inside, beautifully stocked bar, nice chandeliers and they played excellent jazz the entire time. Loved my experience and would absolutely come back when I'm back home again. read more

The atmosphere was so comforting and open. Tables not on top of each other. Attentive and friendly staff. We started with a couple appetizers of octopus and Brussel sprouts. Both were truly decadent. The octopus had shishito peppers and tapenade. The roasted Brussel sprouts had pork belly on the plate. The salmon was served over risotto rice with peppers and spinach. Two of us had a reservation during happy hour. On arrival we were told that there were no more tables available for happy hour so we would have to sit at the bar to get the specials- if we wanted a table we would have to order from the dinner menu. We chose bar seating but there were several empty tables the whole time we were there so I'm not sure what that was about. The place was clean and the atmosphere was nice for conversation. This was our first visit so we ordered a few things to share; a burger with fries, a flatbread, and some pasta. Everything was flavorful although I usually like my fries a bit crispy. I went last night for happy hour with a bunch of friends--the service, the food, and the decor were wonderful. I'm looking forward to going back for dinner. Probably the thing I was impressed the most with was our server. We were a very large group, she handled us with grace, patience, and a smile. Love love love. What a great option for fine dining or date night or a celebration! I randomly stopped in on a Saturday with my sister, and fortunately they could squeeze us in at a table. I highly recommend getting a reservation on weekends though!! I think we got very lucky because they were FULL. I think the highlight of the night were the drinks. We were able to try six of the signature cocktails, three for each of us. I absolutely loved The Scoville. My sister's favorite was The Snappy Monk. On all the drinks there was good flavor balance of everything. For the food, I really enjoyed the Wood Fired Octopus. I really want to go back and try a pasta dish. Oh and the burger. What a great evening. Very impressed with Elle, which is in the building where Harvest used to be. Nice decor and a great vibe. The bar is amply sized and there is plenty of seating. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the owners stopped by to visit several times. Ashley was an awesome server. Cesar salad was tasty, eggplant balls appetizer delish, and the drinks were outstanding. Meals were good all around, especially the chicken paillard. Couldn't pass up the cheesecake, which is made in house. It was topped with Luxardo soaked cherries and we fought over the last bite! Looking forward to many more visits. We decided to try this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion and we really enjoyed our experience. The calamari was just what we were craving and exceeded our expectations! Paired up with the artisan bread board, it was a perfect starter. We ordered the Fattoush Salad and the Blackened Shrimp Pasta -both were utterly delicious! The salad had a crisp, citrusy dressing that did not overpower. The shrimp and pasta were prepared perfectly with the noodles Al Dente in a creamy vodka sauce. Our server was very helpful and attentive. This is a great place for date night or to have a drink and small bites with friends. We will definitely return with our Family and Friends ! read more

Had a phenomenal experience last night dining at Elle. First off-this is one of the most beautiful restaurant interiors in the Chagrin Valley-breathtaking. The food was even better than the restaurant's beauty. We started off with homemade soups + flatbread pizza's which were excellent. Our main course was Pasta--and I thought I was back in Tuscany -it was that great. The service was stellar + the owner "Izzy" checked on us twice to make sure everything was perfect-which it was. This place is overpriced for the quality of food you receive. My wife and I selected the octopus for an appetizer. It was very tough and the peppers that come with the octopus were better than the octopus itself. For our main entrée I got the short rib meal that comes with polenta and carrots. The short rib was very under seasoned and slightly over cooked. The best thing on my plate were the carrots (the carrots were 10/10). My wife got the flatbread. Parts of the flatbread were burnt and other parts were slightly raw. The tomato sauce was very thin and watery. It made parts of the flatbread soggy. My wife ended up getting a salad instead. I give credit to the manager as they gave us a free dessert for the flatbread issue: however, the chocolate moose was lackluster. Overall, the food wasn't worth going. Bright side: they make excellent cocktails so go there for drinks after you eat somewhere else. read more

Have mixed feelings writing this. Heard good things from a friend about Elle. In summary, tasty food with the potential to be amazing - but some adjustments are needed. The Good Bar staff (Luke and Dave) were fun and friendly, and the calamari and lamb meatballs were worth writing home about. Today's special, steak with mushrooms and blue cheese, was quite delicious. Our waiter was attentive until.... The Bad I asked for medium rare on the steak, and received something closer to medium, without that juice one expects from a rare-ish steak. The Ugly I shared feedback on the steak with our waiter M; told him it was still good and i would be glad to eat it, but wanted the kitchen to be aware. He brought it back with the steak cut in half, and said, "see it's pink, so it's fine". No apologies, no recognition that it was still a little overdone. None of us three have ever had the experience of a steak cut in half and thrown back at us before. After that, we didn't hear from our waiter pretty much for the rest of the night. Overall, the food is damn good. I'll probably go back to sit at the bar with Dave and Luke. But some easy adjustments on attitude could be made for the rest. read more

This was our third -- and will likely be final -- visit to Elle. While our experiences have been consistent, they've been consistently average, which is disappointing as Solon really has no other nice/foody options. In short, the decor and atmosphere are very warm, sophisticated and welcoming and the service is consistently professional and attentive. The restaurant just consistently falls short on the food, with skimpy portions (hard to even find any octopus between the shishito peppers), and dishes that are not particularly creative or flavorful. The truly odd thing is that their more moderate sister restaurant (Kitchen 56) has far better food at cheaper prices. Really need a new head chef and a commitment to better quality food experiences. read more
