Morgan,my amazing hairdresser, has given me such great service, as well as a super update to my look. People compliment me continuously on my color which I believe makes me look younger. Dame on my actual haircut and style. She's really helped me by styling my hair so it's much longer in length (hooray), without it looking like a big, dried out puffball. I have wavy, thick hair that can look like a bowl cut with weird skinny strands hanging down, if it isn't cut properly into a layered style. Morgan has been able to layer it beautifully, so whether it's curled, straightened or just natural- It. Looks. Great. She's also a lovely, fun person and I really like her. The time goes by so quickly...if I win the lottery she is going to seeing a LOT MORE of me! Plus she gives a delicious, spine relaxing scalp massage...oh yeah. It took nearly a year for my hair to recover but when I was ready to try again I did my research and found Mike. He has been my go-to for perms ever since. I've never been disappointed with my curly results since. He makes the same silly joke every single time and every single time I laugh. He gives a pretty good cut too and all these years later I wouldn't dream of trusting my hair to anyone else. I had a HORRIBLE and heartbreaking experience at Dandy Salon and Spa on November 1st, 2023. My engagement ring went missing there after my 5:15 pm massage and I strongly believe it was stolen. This was my first time at this spa and I was directed by their massage therapist Kristy to remove my jewelry and to put it in a basket in the massage room. I did exactly that and following the massage, I forgot to put it back on. I returned first thing the next day to retrieve it to find it was gone and nowhere to be found on the premises despite multiple searches. I'm devasted and shocked that my engagement ring went missing at this spa and the owners have not offered any form of reimbursement or compensation for such a tremendous loss. As a place of business, they have a responsibility to provide a secure environment to store personal belongings and that was not provided to me. This is especially necessary since their staff directed me to take off my jewelry, which was unusual in the first place. Additionally, I had a very strange encounter with their massage therapist who did a second take at my ring when we first met and then proceeded to rant about her poor financial and living situation during my massage. That was completely unprofessional and suspicious to later find out that my ring went missing. Despite this horrible situation, the only significant action that the owners have taken is to put up two small missing ad signs upstairs and to offer me a free massage. This has done nothing to cover the replacement cost of my ring, which you would think would be covered by their theft insurance. I signed no waiver that specified that they weren't responsible for stolen items and yet they refuse to offer any form of compensation and additionally have not replied to my email that I sent over a week ago. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in how I've been treated and that my ring was even stolen in the first place. I will NEVER return to this spa and advise people to be aware of the lack of security and protocols for stolen personal belongings. read more

I visited this pretty salon for Hair cut, Scalp massage and styling. Situated in a calm and beautiful area (near university), this salon is beautifully set up from inside with the rustic touch. I really loved the big waiting area where wooden benches are places with colourful cushions. It made the whole place vibrant. Being my first visit here, I did not have any preference of hair stylist. I used Groupon for this service. My hair styling was done by Morgan. I chose layered hairstyle and service was well provided by Morgan. But surprisingly, when i went back to home and did the ponytail, i observed the layering was not done properly on the right side. I LOVE coming to Dandy for Spa services! I love that they have two different massage techniques available: deep tissue and cranial sacral massage. It's truly amazing to experience both! The best surprise is when I got the essential facial. Not only did I leave refreshed and with glowing skin, but I also receive a neck and should massage, AND a hand, arm, and foot massage...WHAT! So worth it to pamper yourself! They also have express spa and salon services. There is no excuse to not treat yourself. Under 30 minutes under $30! Brilliant! My favourite is the glow facial! Amazing, comfortable and friendly service and atmosphere, but wait! Did you know that they received the award for Edmonton's BEST waxing services! Paula and the crew are amazing! My wife managed to finally get in for one appointment (she still have a lot of gift certificate to work through and she wasn't impressed with the facilities, particularly for the price we paid. To be fair, the poor experience was probably already coloured by the frustration of just trying to get in the door. The actual pedicure and massage she received was just fine. However, I received less than half of the hair services I was charged for. I booked a dry cut, and was charged for a full wash, style and cut. When I confirmed the limited service I was hoping to get I was not informed about any price change. It wasn't until I went back on the website after paying 60$ that I realized I had been overcharged. I contacted the company and I was told the management has no control over what is charged, and that I should contact the stylist myself. It was extremely poor customer service. I made an appointment online for an express pedicure, and showed up about 5 minutes early. I sat down and was offered water while I waited. My esthetician came and got me after a few minutes and took me upstairs. There are only two pedicure "chairs," though they are kind of like huts. If you are looking for a massage chair, this is not the place. The pedicure is done with your feet in and out of a small basket with warm water. The lady was chatty, but I didn't mind the conversation. Pedicure lasted about the 30 minutes scheduled time, and I was satisfied with the color! Unfortunately some chipped off the next day. After leaving the dye in too long, she rinsed my hair out, which was almost black (it was supposed to be copper) and didn't style my hair. Instead she told me to use a diffuser at home. Ever notice how your hair can be perfectly fine one day, then the next day you look in the mirror and you've got 3 inches of roots? Like you've been in a coma for months and just woke up? That happened to me recently. I desperately needed some highlights and my regular stylist was unable to get me in for a month. I chose Dandy because I work nearby and they were able to fit me in right away (my coworkers were starting to wonder about my whole "tuque in the office" look lol). Their website said full highlights started at $120. I asked the receptionist for a quote but she said I'd have to speak to the stylist for a quote which seemed fair enough. My hair is short, it's a mini bob that barely covers my ears and I only get highlights in the front and sides (the rest is my natural color) so I figured it wouldn't be too much more than the starting price...maybe $150 (spoiler alert: I was so very wrong). I arrived for my appointment and was greeted by my stylist who shall remain nameless but who was really nice. She had me change into a gown so I wouldn't get my clothes messy and we sat down at her chair. I explained that I didn't need a haircut but just needed to touch up my highlights as some were faded and I had some root growth. No crazy color change, just a touch up to brighten my face a bit. She asked me if I'd like a quote and I said yes...she disappeared to the front for a bit then came back, handing me a folded piece of paper. I unfolded the little paper (just like they do in the movies) but nearly fell out of my chair when I saw that the amount written on the paper was $212! The stylist was quite apologetic and said the salon management was charging me an extra $25 "processing fee" as I wasn't getting a haircut! That seems like a big fat scam to me, it's not like I was going into a restaurant and ordering hot water with lemon and nothing else. Why am I being penalized for not getting a haircut when I'm already committing to spend at least $120? Some of you are probably thinking "yeah but you could have left at that point." True, but I was half naked in a nylon salon gown and comfortable in my chair and it was cold and dark outside. So I started to mentally calculate how I could survive on rice, ramen, and apples for the next 2 weeks as I was about to blow my grocery budget on basically painting stripes into my hair. The color process was underwhelming, when it was over my hair actually looked darker than when I walked in and my roots were quite noticeable. I expressed concern about it and my stylist said that it should lighten significantly with washing and not to worry, that I could come back at any point within the next 2 weeks for a redo if I didn't like it. It didn't lighten, it remained dark blonde with visible roots and unfortunately I got the flu and had to cancel my color correction appointment and they weren't willing to book outside the 2 week window. (I didn't think infecting the entire salon was a fair trade for my disappointment...you're welcome Dandy!) So yeah, I'm $212 poorer and my hair still looks like crap. On the plus side, this -30 cold snap isn't going away so I'm totally going to be rocking that tuque for a while longer. I came here twice for waxing, first time I had to wait about 20 minutes for an appointment, which may sound typical but I really hate not having an appointment start when it is intended to, especially when you're paying for parking. Regardless, I am pretty patient so I didn't say anything, sh*t happens, right? Second time same thing,about 20 minutes late, except they had told me my appt was at 5pm but when I got there they told me it was actually at 5:30...great... But I didn't get in until close to 6pm, so an hour after the appointment they initially confirmed with me and almost half an hour after the appointment they had actually booked. I didn't say anything either time because there usually is no point, and honestly it just makes them look and sound unprofessional in front of the other clients in the reception area , which is their problem . Anyways, when I eventually got in on both times the esthetician was awesome and did a great job - I have no complaint with the actual services offered, just the front staff. So if you're looking for a good waxing and don't care how late your appointment is or if they screw up your appointment then you should come here. On that note... I will n-e-v-e-r come to this salon again. Last week I booked an appointment 'via text' for today at 6pm, I sent a quick text today to confirm (out of habit, and since they've gotten it wrong before) and low and behold they told me they had me in for next week, not today. *face palm* The thing is I had "booked via text" and I was literally LOOKING at the previous text from their salon confirming I was in for 6pm today. After they replied saying they didn't have me in for today I called and they basically said there was nothing they could do... What kind of customer service is that? What if I had driven there in this shitty weather? Regardless, after 1 late appointment, one appointment booked at the wrong time and one appointment booked on the completely wrong day (how did they manage that, why do you confirm a date and time with a client and then book them on a different date and time???), I decided to call it quits, the waxing services might be above-average but I hate salons and spas that can't figure out a competent booking system. It's a shame, their estheticians are all fantastic but I am not willing to put up with incompetent receptionists, or whoever books the appointments. And although it has never happened to me, I find it highly ironic that they charge cancellation fees (50% of the service fee) if you cancel within 48 hrs, what do I get when they miss MY appointment and don't provide me with any notice, until I contact them? This salon gets 4 stars for their massage service, friendly front desk and waxing ladies. It gets 3 stars for their hair service and hair pricing however. The prices are a little outrageous for hair service and my hair stylist, although very experienced was very grumpy and cold from the get go. I went back in a second time and she was grumpy that time as well. I am conflicted as to whether I will be continuing my hair appointments here, seeing the cost and lack of friendliness by my stylist. It's a hard one because it was obviously just the one girl but I would now feel awkward going to the other girls in the same salon for hair. I have visited Dandy a couple times now and am thrilled I have found my new salon. I really love this place, it has a great relaxing atmosphere (no blaring house music, soothing Aveda scents, gorgeous decor). Those at the reception desk are warm & welcoming, and they have a great product selection including the Kevin Murphy line (a personal favourite, and tough to find) I was on the hunt for a stylist, and my friend Holly recommended Taylor. I have since been to see him for a cut & style, then again for highlights, cut & color. I cannot say enough good things about him. Taylor is a consummate professional, he makes conversation to ensure you are comfortable, but without being overly chatty if you prefer to relax and sit quietly for your appointment. He is hands down the best stylist I've had, and when I get married next year, hes's definitely on my "vendors to book" list. During the wash you receive a decadent scalp massage, and they ensure you are enjoying your experience with offerings of magazines, drinks, extra towels for your face etc. I will definitely be back to try out the spa side, for a facial or massage. I've been living in Edmonton for two years now, and have tried two other hair salons with Groupons. However, I keep going back to Dandy. It's a welcoming environment, always looks clean, and the staff are always friendly. I have had my hair done by four different stylists there (I'm not picky), and have liked every cut. I should say that I never go for anything dramatic - generally just a clean up, change in layers, a few inches off, or long bangs (well, only once - I'm far too low maintenance, haha!). But I've always left happy. Each stylist I have been to has been easy going and attentively sat through my indecisive monologue about how maybe this time I'll try something new - and each has offered suggestions and recommendations to help make the decision. I also like how the stylists do explain the products they are using, but aren't pushy in selling me on them. Although I definitely went for the Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam on my last visit - life changing! The only downfall is it's a little pricey - there is a great discount for students on Wednesdays, but I've sadly entered the real world. I took advantage of a facial promo Dandy salon had for October and I was so glad I did. Dandy Salon is just off whyte ave. Inside it has a cool modern vibe. I was greeted right away and offered a beverage. Good start! The lady who did my facial was very thorough. She went over a questionnaire with me about my skin before hand and really made me feel at ease. The actual room was nice clean and had a great spa like feel. The facial was so relaxing I almost fell asleep. Except for the extractions which are never fun. The best part was the estetician was hands on the whole time and did not leave me alone and instead while I was "processing" would do a hand massage ect. At the end she went over some basics of skin care and did a few recommendation. She did not push anything on me but gave me options. She also talked about how to incorporate things I was already using into a routine. It was awesome. I have been seeing *someone* from Dandy for years now and I consistently have gotten a superior hair cut every single time. For the past year or two I've been seeing Mike and he has made this poor slob look better than ever. My wife and daughter are also clients of Mike and have both been equally 100% thrilled with his services and attention. I also see the estheticians as required when my eyebrows go insane but I just take whomever is available based on my haircut appointments. It is quite reasonable to say the prices are high here, but when you get a really great product and service, well, sometimes that's how that happens. If you are on a budget you might feel a lot less enthusiastic than I do. I drove to a highly recommended Aveda colorist in Saskatoon to start the process. My hair was so badly damaged from the past years that I needed continual treatments to bring my hair back to life, after several color stripping's of my hair. When I got back to Edmonton, I googled "Aveda Salon, online booking" and up popped Dandy. Mackenzie was the only one with availability on my day off so I took a chance and she was the best thing that has ever happened to my hair. She asked my hair history, took the time to get to know my daily hair routines, brands of products I use, and treatment. Mackenzie has given my hair life again. She always understands exactly what I vision my next hair style to be. Whether it be a soft purple toner, or winter ash highlights, a short bob or a new shape of bang. She understands her clients. I always-always feel at home in Mackenzies chair. She not only is an outstanding and experienced colorist and stylist, she is a great hair-therapist. Lets face it ladies ... we confide in our stylists more than we do with some of our best friends. I love that at Dandy I am always greeted by my name, a hot beverage and my coat at purse stored away for me. The prices ARE a bit on the high end, and you should discuss costs while you are in the chair BEFORE any treatments have taken place otherwise you may be blown away when you get your bill. Let me start by saying I have never utilized the salon here, only the spa. Nearly every single time I have come here I have had a good experience. I used to come here for waxing quite a bit but it got to be expensive to upkeep and when I had other expenses crop up in my life that was one of the first things that got cut. Only one time did I have a really bad waxing experience (I think the girl was new at it, it hurt like I've never had anything hurt before and it all grew in ingrown which is a sign the hair wasn't removed properly) but I phoned them up to talk about it and they comped my next one completely, which was unnecessary and appreciated. I've also come here for nail services (specifically pedis) and they have been great. The staff is friendly, the product is good and the end result is always fantastic. The 75 minute mani seems a bit steep at $85.00 but the standard one is very reasonably priced at $35.00 and does a great job. I've also had a facial here and the esthetician was very patient, knowledgeable and friendly. She recommended some great products that lasted forever and really did make my skin look fantastic once I got home. It's a beautiful salon and I always feel welcomed when I come in. The location is great and there is usually (paid) parking nearby. I would recommend checking it out here, especially if you are a student because they offer student discounts on some days of the week. read more

You can book online and find the prices actually cheaper than EC. Plus they do the little tho that matter for example a small towel with baby powder after I had my haircut was a nice touch or even a baby wipe to freshen up before a wax. I had my first experience at Dandy Salon a few weeks ago, and I have to say, I will never be back. I saw Mellissa, who unfortunately, was just promoted to a Stylist. She asked me what I like / don't like in haircuts to start, which I found comforting thinking that she would take that into consideration. We then talked about the color I wanted. The color leaving the salon, was awesome. However, within a week of my appointment, it has faded to a dull, gross, greyish brown color at the ends, and still vibrant only in patches (from a reddish brown, and yes, I used color shampoo). She talked a LOT, particularly about herself, and that wasn't a good thing in my eyes. Once the color was applied, she checked back on me about 4 times in the first 10 minutes to make sure I didn't want anything. It became annoying. Then, she didn't check back on me until my color was overdue to be rinsed. We then moved on to the cut. Like I said, I was confident with her cutting my hair as we had discussed what I do and do not like about haircuts. One thing I really, really, REALLY dislike about hair cuts on myself is when there's one, thick, short layer on the top in the back. I didn't want any short layers, to be honest. But guess what I walked out with? One thick chunk of short hair in the back (about 5" long) and the next layer is about 10" long. Awesome. When it was time to go, she didn't offer any product suggestions, but rather just shoed me out and left me at reception. Both receptionists were sitting on their cellphones and gossiping, and made it feel like I was interrupting them. Then, the icing on the cake was the $160 bill I got slapped with for an absolutely brutal cut and mediocre color. A week later, someone from the salon called me to see how I enjoyed the experience. I told her the experience was okay, however I wasn't happy with the cut whatsoever. All she said was "Oh... well I'm sorry you don't like the cut.." and my response was "Yeah, me too." Rather than her offering to have me come back and try to correct their mistake, she just said "Okay well thanks for visiting, have a nice day" and hung up. I was in complete disbelief that they didn't care about their clients enough to try to squeeze them in for a quick correction of a cut. All in all, it was terrible service, outrageously expensive, and I will absolutely never be back. read more

I don't get haircuts by Juniors & don't know why you would have just Junior Groupons because most likely a customer isn't coming back after a Junior haircut. Why not a senior stylist who will most likely do a great job, and then I'm coming back at full price? I did get a phone call from the mgr/owner, but I'm just going to try for a refund. I still expected to get a proper massage! But the therapist barely touched me and I noticed absolutely no improvement. Most of the time, I couldn't even tell if he was doing anything...! Felt like a complete waste of time. The therapist was nice though, and he may even be a good massage therapist if he actually gives you a massage and not the alternative treatment I got. I am extremely impressed with Dandy Salon and Spa. The lady that did my nails was absolutely fantastic! Usually when I have a living social deal I find that the people at the business don't treat you as well, but this lady was outstanding. I have never felt better about my self! She kept complimenting me, and they were really sincere complements (I hope). The spa was really clean and they were timely if not early with everything. My only complaint is that the gel nail polish wasn't done on my whole nail bed and it chipped off one nail after about a week. Soooo... I usually have very pleasant experiences here, but I'm sitting here with one eyebrow waxed further apart than the other eyebrow and now have to wait for it to grow back in. Grrr!! I didn't complain to the aesthetician (although maybe I should have) because she can't really add back the hair that she waxed... I just know not to ask for her anymore. I have had tons of successful brow waxes here, so I'll be back. I've probably been here at least 20 times for eyebrow waxes, and once or twice for haircuts, always on student discount Wednesdays (20%). The facility is nice and calm, clean, and they serve my fav Aveda tea while I wait. I wouldn't pay full price, but it is worth it with the discount (of course, tipping on the original price is customary). I haven't had to wait too long for services - maybe 15-20 minutes once, but they are usually roughly on time. I've usually had good luck with aestheticians here who leave me with natural looking brows adjusted to my face shape - Teresa and Olivia come to mind - I now know to request them specifically!! read more

I recently had a relatively intensive service completed at Dandy Salon. I started out with dyed black hair and ended up with chocolate brown with beautiful two toned highlights. Who is responsible for my incredible color job? Brianne. She's a self-proclaimed perfectionist, who actually lives up to her name. The process took a while, about 6 hours in total, but that is to be expected when you get your black stripped out without using bleach, dyed chocolate brown, bang trim, highlights put in, toner and style. If you're looking for someone trustworthy with your hair color...Brianne is the girl to ask for. I had a great time with her. Overall, the experience was great. A few things I wasn't super happy about was after spending over $300 to have this process done, they still tacked on the $1 they put in the meter for me...I thought this was a little tacky and unnecessary that they couldn't absorb $1 vs. the $300 + I was spending. I have been going to this salon for a while and it has always been great. Staff has always treated me well and do their best to fit me on often short notice. The facility is probably the nicest in the city! I would recommend this salon to friends and many of them already go to Dandy. read more

The best hair stylist in Edmonton is Jerica and Dandy salon is lucky enough to have her as an employee! She is so personable and does a great job! She will listen to what you want done and give you suggestions if your not sure! She does a great colour and doesnt leave your hair feeling dead. I highly recommend making a appointment with her! I went in for highlights and a toner and asked for someone who specializes in blondes. They wanted a really high price which I agreed to pay anyway, but my hair colour came out a really dull dark blonde when I came in with brighter hair than that.hair looks incredibly dammaged and when the owner/manager came to talk to me was going against everything I was saying gave me attitude and made me feel very uncomfortable and said she will be the one fixing my hair. Expressed that i felt nervous of her doing it since she wasn't very nice to me from the beginning and she snapped at me and told me to leave. I had a 200 dollar gift card which I asked for a refund for and she laughed and said no. Luckily I am a very assertive person and made sure I got my refund anyway. Did tip the hairdresser because she was a nice girl and for her time but still very Mad I have to go now to another place to fix it! read more
