I actually stumbled upon Ivory Noir by accident. I have walked passed the complex Ivory Noir is located in on 102 Ave and roughly 105St downtown Edmonton so many times but never thought to stop in. I guess if I am being honest, I sometimes have an aversion to salon spas cause there are many times when I have felt I got fairly subpar service for a astronomical price just because the business was marketed as "salon spa" but this wasn't the case here. Hooray! I have gotten my hair cut from Holly several times now and I have always left pleased and I felt like I got my monies worth. First off, I LOVE the decor of Ivory Noir. I love black and gold color schemes on basically anything so the clean black stylish stations with a large black and gold mirror in contrast with the shining white just looks very modern, clean and appeasing to me. It has always been spotless when I have gone in there, which can be kind of surprising as people are constantly getting their hair done. Holly has always been super pleasant, has been helpful in helping me choose a style for my hair and is open to suggestions. My most recent service was just the other day, post covid re-opening, and it was really nice to see Ivory Noir had taken so many extra pre-cautions to keeping their clients and staff safe while maintaining a easy but professional environment. I have never had a color treatment there so I can't really speak to that part of the services. I think my only disappointment is that Ivory Noir does not offer perms, but I guess many places don't nowadays either. I think just cause I liked the environment and I like my stylist, it would have been nice to get both a cut and a perm all in one shot opposed to having to find somewhere else to get the perm treatment. My new hair home! Went there for the first time yesterday and saw a jr. stylist and she was amazing. I had bad layers from a chemical cut from some bad ombre and told the stylst I wanted to grow my hair out to one length. She actually understood what I was saying and achieved what I was wanting, she also styled it really nice (not over the top) some stylist go overboard on the product or just leave my hair looking like a flat helmet. The salon was very nice and styled great, I've already booked my next appointment. They also have parking aslong as you provide your plate number. I am a notorious hair abuser and avoided regular hair trims for years on end. Now I go see Leah every 10 weeks. She is personable, actually listens to what you want and what you are comfortable with. This is HUGE for me as I have had many bad experiences with hair stylists in the past but I trust her, she's only stylist that I haven't left the salon in tears afterwards. The studio it's self is beautiful, with an obvious color motif to match the name but there are lovely pieces to admire (I love the lace window accents). And don't let the downtown address freak you out, it actually has free parking out front. Biggest perk to a business, especially in their area. All in all, I highly recommend checking them out, for either hair or nails. **UPDATE**: I've been an Ivory Noir client for over a year now so I thought I would update. They recently moved to a new location, they made sure all their clients were aware of the move and even called to ensure I had the new address and was aware of parking a couple days before my next appointment. I have been to the new location a couple of times now (new mommy needed a quick "pick me up" between hair cuts) and I must say I absolutely LOVE the new salon - it's roomier, but with the same decadent feeling decor & the same smiling faces (plus a couple new ones)! There is ample parking in the front and just east of the salon (which is always a bonus downtown). As usual the service is impeccable, the staff is super friendly and professional - they go above & beyond to make you comfortable and happy! Coffee/tea is always offered and there is always a chocolate treat available!! :) Also, over the summer they added a text/email confirmation service (perfect for busy individuals who always miss calls) to remind you of your appointment. I continue to be amazed with Andrea's talent and dedication to being the best. She always listens to what I would like and offers suggestions as to how to make my style easier to manage - she's an absolutely amazing stylist. She also teaches/encourages her staff while she's doing your hair which is nice to see! On my last visit to Ivory Noir I was to meet my best friend, who is notorious for coloring her own hair. Over the last month or so she's had some disasters (blotchy brassiness, red roots) and on this particular morning she was trying to fix her hair color because she was supposed to fly out the next weekend for a wedding. I had asked her to call and book with Andrea but she didn't think there was any chance they'd be able to fit her in on such short notice - I convinced her to come meet me at the salon and said we'd just head down 124 st for lunch. When she walked in we all took a look at her hair...they fit her in for a color correction & trim - and we enjoyed a glass of wine on top of this all!! We had a great time at the salon, they made shopping & restaurant suggestions for the rest of our day as well. This is a review for the spa/ nail salon beside the hair studio. I got some gel shallac nails done here two weeks ago and they still look great! I wanted to wait to review till I saw how my nails held up. The studio is really cute! They have lots of nice decorations and comfy chairs for pedicures. Becca did my nails and she was super friendly, took her time and had a great attention to detail. The color selection was really impressive! I can't wait to go back and get my nails done again. I am so impressed with how my nails have lasted. Usually with shallac I get chips so soon and my nails end up looking bad. Mine still look amazing! No chips. No lifting. First, as someone who is spontaneous, I was happy that they were able to squeeze me in on the same day for an evening appointment and I'm thrilled that they are downtown so future whims can be met! Stephanie was very attentive and took time to listen to exactly what I wanted. She helped give me advice on what would and would not work. Came in yesterday as I really needed a cut ( my cut is somewhat unique and it's hard for me to explain. I had a mop of hair before. Now thanks to Kelsey ( she's amazing ! Loves Harry Potter :). So you can nerd out with her too!! ) I have my old personal favourite hair again and I love it ! Price was amazing as I usually pay 50+ but it was only 39. I was so surprised. Especially since it's the first time someone had got the cut correct the first time ! Glad I went to yelp to see some reviews and I'm definitely glad I was able to sneak in and get this amazing cut. I love Andrea. I've been going to her since 2013 every six weeks and couldn't be happier. She does a great cut and head massage. I've had some pretty terrible haircuts in my lifetime, but never a bad one with Andrea. She knows exactly how to cut my thick, coarse hair so that it grows out beautifully and still maintains it's style until my next cut. In the 3 years I've been seeing Andrea, I've convinced 4 or 5 family members to also start going to Ivory Noir. We could not be happier with the service we get from Andrea and her staff. read more

I've done my hair here a few times here, the staff and the service is amazing! If you're Asian, you know how hard it can be to dye it different colours because all the red tones under our black hair. No fear here, they know how to take care of that and maintain hair integrity. If you're looking to do a creative colour for sure go to Kelsey she's awesome! The salon itself is beautiful inside and it's sister company kumi nails is right next door, so if you're looking to get your hair and nails done, they've got your back. The only reason I took one star off is because they do push for buying product afterwards, of course it's your personal choice if you buy or not; for people like me I fall victim to buying products because I feel bad, so personally I would like if they didn't push as much. If I could give them negative stars I would. I used the colour protectant shampoo and conditioner as recommended by Taylor but Over $450 and 4 weeks later my hair is ridiculously brassy. I was super rushed during the appointment and the simple long layers cut I wanted was no where to be found. I would be terrified to have her attempt to "fix" my hair.
