Went for lunch after a disastrous dinner hoping the experience would be better. We were handed the wrong menus and got found out when we ordered things not available for lunch. Service was slow but pleasant. Food was okay but didn't warrant a $50 tab each.

I revisited Dalida as a party of 3 and was incredibly happy with both the food and service that was offered to us. The pistachio coffee, albeit small, is delicious and the perfect brunch drink choice for my boyfriend and I. We had the Greek osetra caviar on the house, breaking bread, challah French toast, Turkish flatbread, arayes kebab, and oysters. The Greek osetra caviar bites were amazing- it's recommended to eat it in one bite. All the flavors explode in your mouth! Super yummy start to the menu- everything here is beautifully plated and designed to make your mouth water. The oysters and their housemade mignonette was delightful. Super fresh and beautiful presentation, I'm always partial to raw oysters whenever they're on the menu. The challah French toast was yummy and came with strawberry syrup on top. The cream filling was light and airy- very melt in your mouth! I would highly recommend this family style for anyone that is craving a sweet treat along with their savory dishes. The arayes kebab came with seasoned fries and spicy mayo that was perfect to cut through the sweetness. Same quality as the last time I came. The Turkish flatbread was airy and soft, and the creamy egg paired well with the cheesy topping. The muhammara and hummus dip for breaking bread paired well with the chubby pita. Our server was nothing but kind. I'm glad that I gave Dalida a second chance and that they did not disappoint. I had no issues with booking my reservation via OpenTable and interactions with their staff were very pleasant.

This was my first time having Mediterranean food, and it was an amazing fine dining experience with a lot of options and various flavors. I loved the interior; it was beautifully decorated with the lights and the wallpaper. The staff were attentive, and parking was really easy to find.

This is a fairly upscale restaurant serving Mediterranean inspired cuisine in the heart of Presidio. We made reservations just in case which is a good call, even though for 5pm opening, as otherwise you'll be seated at the bar. We got the breaking bread, octopus and sujuk, lamb chops, and warm irmik helvase cobbler. For drinks we had Saturnalia and shepherd's pipes. The breaking bread is a must get item as it is a giant pita bread with a variety of spreads which all make it so wonderful. The octopus and sujuk is fairly unique, kind of like a carpaccio. The lamb chops were okay - a bit small for the price. The cobbler is fairly hearty and sweet The cocktails are pretty delicious, especially the Saturnalia which is fairly aesthetic and had a milky aftertaste. The shepherd's pipes were a bit watered down. Service is okay - it takes some time to fulfill our requests but understandable as it was a bit busy

Very disappointing experience. First, when we walked in, a staff member took my coffee away without saying anything. When I came back out and asked her for it, she simply told me she had thrown it away. No warning, no explanation, and she never asked whether I wanted to keep it. The food unfortunately did not make the experience any better. The octopus salad was extremely salty, and the ingredients did not taste particularly fresh. After this meal, both my friend and I developed gastrointestinal symptoms that seemed consistent with food poisoning. We obviously can't know for certain what caused it, but the octopus salad was our main concern based on what we ate and how it tasted. Overall, the combination of poor service, mediocre food, and both of us feeling sick afterward made this a very unpleasant experience. I honestly wish I had just taken my coffee and walked away. The coffee I brought in tasted much better--and, more importantly, at least I trusted that it was fresh.

Best pita bread and dips! Yes I paid $5 for an extra one and ended up so full I barely touched my main course. We got the prefix lunch menu, one with the short rib pasta dish, shockingly a miss, it was a total salt bomb! I told my friend to return it but she didn't want to bother. I spoke up and they were so kind and gave us baklava. My pork was super flavorful, I wish there was something to soak up the sauce, it was kind of stewed in lots of sauce with I think a small slather of mashed potatoes? On the bottom. I brought it home and finished it for dinner with a piece of bread. The star for me was the birthday girl's free smore dessert, that was yummy!!! I licked the plate clean.

The interior beautiful. The ambiance is a mix of romantic, charming and chic. Service is prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and warm. The menu is organized, elaborate and exciting. The food is simply delicious. Our favorites were the chubby pita from Breaking Bread, the lamb shoulder (special), and the Kayseri Manti. Dalida also gifted a complimentary birthday dessert, which was very kind. In summary, Dalida is a special restaurant providing a memorable dining experience with delicious food and exceptional service. We look forward to another visit.

Dalida is a beautiful restaurant. The interior is absolutely stunning but the food is only mediocre and extremely overpriced for the portion size as well as the flavor. The only thing that was actually good was the appetizer with the spreads and pita bread. Everything else was flavorless and waaaay above asking price. This is a place to have your date take you and you not pay.

A meal at Dalida is an immersive experience as it positions you in the heart of the Presidio, within walking distance of world-class views and all sorts of recreational choices. There's no lack of options for pre- or post-meal activities, such as a scenic stroll or trip to the bowling alley or The Walt Disney Family Museum or any number of historic sites. When you step into the restaurant, it immediately feels like a special occasion kind of place. Service was friendly and felt experienced. The meal itself was pleasing to the eye and the palate; I especially loved the fattoush salad and chubby pita that comes with the breaking bread starter. I only regret not being able to try more dishes. I recommend selecting seats at the counter if watching the kitchen staff conduct their duties sounds like a show you'd tune into. I left looking forward to another visit. Being at Dalida feels like a fancy getaway, a perfect staycation outing.

My friends and I dined at Dalida on a Saturday afternoon around 1:45 p.m. and we were able to get seated without a reservation with only a short ten minute wait. We started our meal with a round of cocktails. I tried out their Bodrum Negroni -- cacao infused mezcal, miso red vermouth, satsuma cheong, ferment, saline, and it was a refreshing spin on a classic. It was boozy, but well-balanced. We started our meal with a few items off the "for the table" section of the menu, ordering the the "breaking bread" and breakfast spread". Both items come with a piece of their chubby pita, a super fluffy, thick, freshly made pita. Between these two items, there are a total of ten different dips and bites to try out. The favorites of the table included the muhammara -- a roasted red peppers dip with walnuts, the tahini and molasses spread, and the kaymak -- similar to clotted cream, with jam. If you're coming with a group, I'd definitely recommend ordering these two spreads and an extra chubby pita for $5. Along with the dips, we also got the octopus and sujuk. The knife-work and presentation on the octopus is unlike anything I've ever seen; the dish is beautifully presented and almost too pretty to eat. The octopus is cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed the saltiness and brininess of the olive-caper garnish on top. By this point in the meal, we were actually becoming quite full. For our mains, we shared the Arayes kebab and the hot smoked trout. From the Arayes kebab platter, these shoe-string fries were hands down some of the best fries I've ever had. Reminiscent of McDonald's fries, the ones here are incredibly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and generously dusted with seasoning. Continuing with the pattern of beautiful presentation, the dish is also very aesthetic. The kebab meat is stuffed inside a chubby pita and is grilled to perfection. There's a nice crust on the meat, and kebab is made with with a cornucopia of herbs and spices. I was too a bit too full to try more than a bite of the trout dip, so unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to properly enjoy or evaluate the dishes. Overall, my group had a delicious meal at Dalida. The service here is fantastic, and food and beverage is solid all around. Definitely worth venturing out to the Presidio to try at least once.

So lucky we got reservations for a group of 6. We ordered drinks and a little bit of everything. From the breakin bread, to octopus, to beet salad, to the lamb shoulder, fish, chicken and a couple of desserts. My top favorite has to be the breaking bread, octopus and the black ink pasta. Everything was tasty and perfectly portioned for family style. The desserts were amazing, baklava, chocolate cake and the chocolate tart. Everything was perfectly sweet, meaning not too sweet. :) Got here early and got to walk around and watch the sunset after a full belly.

Second time here, came back to celebrate a friend's birthday! We had a great time and enjoyed the food. The favorites were the octopus & sujuk, and the breaking bread. Must orders in my opinion! We also liked the beet salad. We also tried the pork souvlaki and the steak which were both solid and cooked well but didn't blow us away. The lamb dishes are better in my opinion. For dessert, we got the seasonal sorbet which was raspberry rose and the layered baklava. Both were tasty but the baklava was amazing and the more unique dessert item.

Dalida was such a lovely dining experience. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, and that's probably how we ended up getting a pistachio coffee, which was such a nice surprise! OMG, the food was delicious. The portions were just right, and I really loved the elegant, well-balanced flavors. I tend to prefer food that's lighter and more subtle rather than overly rich or overpowering, and this was exactly my kind of food. The presentation was beautiful too. Everything looked so good when it came to the table that it honestly made me happy just looking at it. I'll definitely be coming back with more friends. The only thing I noticed was that the receptionist could have been a little friendlier. I didn't feel particularly welcomed when we arrived, but everything else about the experience was wonderful and more than made up for it. Overall, a really great experience. Delicious food, beautiful presentation, and wonderful staff. I'd definitely come back!

Legendary but too Busy…read more Stepping through the doors of Balboa Cafe in San Francisco's Cow Hollow neighborhood feels like unlocking a timeless vault of classic California society and old-school saloon culture. Established in 1913 (though a superstitious original owner famously installed a plaque reading 1914 to escape the bad luck of the number 13), this legendary watering hole effortlessly bridges the gap between San Francisco's rich history and its bustling modern energy. With its striking dark wood paneling, crisp white tablecloths, and an iconic green neon sign cutting through the fog on Fillmore Street, the room practically whispers stories of the generations of local politicians, tech moguls, and high-society regulars who have rubbed elbows here. It's a beautifully multigenerational landmark where people-watching is a sport, the service is fast and familial, and the kitchen still masterfully turns out their cult-classic Balboa Burger served on a fresh baguette. Yet, as spectacular as the vintage vibe and the burgers are, the true heartbeat of the modern Balboa experience is their legendary, world-famous Espresso Martini. Affectionately dubbed the "Espressotini," this cocktail is absolute royalty in the SF bar scene, with the bartenders famously churning out upwards of 1,000 martinis a day to tables ordering them a dozen at a time. Shaken to an incredibly velvety, frothy perfection using vanilla vodka, Kahlúa, and a proprietary nitro cold brew blend, it pours with a signature dense cream foam that mimics a perfect pint of Guinness. Deceptively smooth and balanced without being overly sweet, it acts as both a sophisticated pick-me-up and a social catalyst. Sitting at that historic dark wood bar, watching the towers of coupe glasses catch the dim ambient light while a lively crowd buzzes around you, drinking an Espressotini isn't just ordering a cocktail--it's taking part in a mandatory San Francisco ritual. Thanks

It's also loud and crowded enough that it doesn't make for a particularly enjoyable meal. To me, the reputation seems to have more to do with the location, history, and social scene than the quality of the restaurant. There is another reason I wouldn't choose to spend my money there. Balboa Café has a long association with Gavin Newsom's PlumpJack group. Newsom's San Francisco business interests, including Balboa Café, changed hands when he became mayor, and his remaining PlumpJack interests were later placed in a blind trust when he became California governor. The business is still part of the PlumpJack operation and is run by his sister, Hilary Newsom. I know many people have strong opinions about Newsom and his time as governor, and I have my own. Given that connection, I personally don't want to support the business. That's my choice, but when the restaurant itself isn't giving me much reason to go in the first place, it's an easy decision. For me, Balboa Café is overpriced, overrated, and not worth the money or the association.

We should have known that this wasn't the most popping spot considering the holiday and how we pranced in without too much of a fight. It was rather empty when we were there. It felt like more of an empty room that just so happened to be a bar. Things just seemed spaced out awkwardly with furniture that didn't go well together. It was rather quiet too. I could not even tell you what music was playing because I could not even hear it. I do appreciate that the place was festively decorated though. It was perfectly on theme for St. Patrick's Day. The bartenders were super friendly here. My friends and I were trying to take a picture together and the bartender kindly snapped some shots of us (both horizontal and vertical pics...chef's kiss). It was a beautiful day in the city, but it almost felt too hot sitting in the outdoor patio because there was hardly any shade. The host was nice enough to offer the indoor lounge area by the bar, but we decided to stick it out in the sunshine. That said, I really appreciated the offer. Overall customer service was great. Staff was friendly, and the food came out incredibly fast. We received our food in 10 minutes or less. My father-in-law got the French dip, my husband got the burger, and I got the chicken and waffles. Food was OK. Mid at best. Starting with my chicken and waffles plate, which mostly tasted bland to me. The chicken was moist and had a nice fry but lacked the seasoning. Similarly, the gravy needed some salt. Loved the waffles though. Great texture of crunch on the outside and soft doughiness inside. My husband's cheeseburger was a total 180 from my dish when it came to flavor. That said, it would've been nice to have some fresh, crisp veggies to break up the heaviness from its sauce. It did have lettuce, but it was shredded so got mushy. MY father-in-law's French Dip sandwich was probably my favorite among the 3. Just a solid, classic French dip with tender prime.
