Was just here the other and and was surprised to find that there was a line on a random weekday in the middle of the day. It turns out they have a strict policy of just 22 max people in the store at once. That actually makes for a good shopping experience during COVID. People wait in line patiently and the line moves relatively quick. There were about 10 people ahead of me and waited about 15 minutes to get in. Once in I was greeted by store staff that offered Purell to clean hands. The selection at this store is moderate, it's not as big as some other Daiso stores but also not small. If you're searching for the Japanese version of the Dollar Store, you've come to the right place! As a child, I grew up in Japan for a few years and Daiso was one of the stores we frequented, so it is very much authentic! It makes me nostalgic anytime I go in store since they carry so many products I remember from my childhood. They carry everything from Japanese snacks and drinks, bathroom accessories such as bath mats and soaps, makeup and my favorite section, the kitchen accessories. On our most recent trip there, we found a little stick that upon closer inspection turns out to be a tube for spreading butter on your toast! Not completely necessary, but I mean this is the kind of useful and random item one finds in Daiso! The possibilities are endless! I was also annoyed with myself for not thinking to come here to purchase a shower cap since they had so many cute ones for only $1.50! I spent $5 at Ulta for the one I have now and its not nearly as kawaii as the ones here. They also carry one of our favorite face masks to date and this one comes in several colors at this store location (pink, light pink, dark blue, black and gray). Its only $3 and provides more space between your face and the mask when you wear it which is why we like it so much. I will say the one area they could improve on is to create more of a space for customers to line up once ready to check out since I felt like I was standing in the way of others still shopping, but other than that, would suggest this store to others! read more

Definitely one of the larger Daiso's - the size is comparable to the one at Mitsuwa Marketplace is West San Jose. It's also a good location since it's right next to Marukai Market and a variety of good restaraunts in the same plaza. Even though the one inside Great Mall is closer to me, I prefer this one since there's more room to move around the aisle. Most everything is $1.50 while higher priced items will be marked. I'm more trusting about products from here over Dollar Tree and the 99 cent store since it's a Japanese company. Daiso is great for knick knacks and random kitchen things - I use it to buy aluminum foil trays, chopsticks, tooth picks, and sponges. They're baking section has a ton of things for decorating from cookie cutters to icing tips, and they have cute tiny little baking pans for making single loaf goods. If you plan on baking and doing some crazy decorations, this should be your first stop. They also sell cheap but good quality bento boxes - just be sure to check if they're microwavable safe. I own bento boxes shaped in a frog, bear, and strawberry from them. I wouldn't recommend their tupperware though since they feel really cheap and most aren't airtight. They're also good for items you don't plan on carrying over when you move - like a toilet brush cleaner, soap dish, dust pan, broom, and small trash cans. A lot of their houseware is colorful, so good for adding a little color to your home. They also carry excellent items for travel, like the travel size packets of tissue - perfect for the purse. I'd also recommend using them for office and art supplies. They have lots of cute folders, erasers, and a wide variety of writing utensils. Daiso has a surpising amount of art supplies from origami paper, knitting needles, paintbrushes, and small canvases, poster boards, and clay - all for $1.50! I notice that the art/office supply section is a little bigger than other Daiso's, so you'll find a larger variety here. This should also be your first stop for grocery shopping before heading to Marukai next door - some items you might be looking for can be in their grocery section for much cheaper, though the guarantee of them having it in stock is pretty inconsistent. Apart from their variety of Japanese chips and sweets, they also stock some Japanese cooking essentials. I buy my nori wrappers, miso paste, curry roux, vinegar, ponzu, and potato starch (a must for Japanese cooking, especially with karaage) here before I head over to Marukai. The miso paste is good quality and I use it for miso soup and miso glazed stir fry! They even carry takoyaki and okonomiyaki sauce for only $1.50 - much cheaper than the Japanese store. On rare occasions I've seen dashi stock, bonito flakes, and rice seasoning - these items are perfect for stocking up on if you plan on making a lot of Japanese food, so take advantage if you ever run into them! read more

The reason being is that my 3-year old daughter is super hyper so she would run all over the place, and she would want to buy everything in sight. We ended up here on Friday night, February 21st, while I was spending the night at my sister's. We were only walking around to kill time since we weren't sure what we wanted to eat for dinner. We ended up buying a whole bunch of stuff that we didn't really need, but just fun to have. This is what happens when you browse. You look and want to buy everything cute in sight. The store isn't super big, but they carry enough knick knacks that catches a 3-year old's sight, maybe even my 14-year old niece's as well because she ended up putting a few items in my shopping cart. All their items are pretty fairly priced, but when you think $1.50 here and $2.50 there isn't a big deal, they can add up pretty quickly. I. LOVE. DAISO. Daiso is the king of affordability, functionality, and cute-ness factor. Every time I come I have to sift through every. single. aisle. Why? Everything is adorable, useful, and cheap! What more is there to love for an Asian girl like me?! Maybe it's my impulses, but even when I come into Daiso just for fun I almost always walk out with something that I forgot I needed. The lack of Daiso's indentation on your wallet really lures you in...this thrifty and functional stuff is just too great of a deal to ignore!! I've bought a plethora of things here, ranging from fake eyelashes, to calpico (cough cough the calpico here is cheaper than the same one offered next door!! cough cough) I really love their variability in all the products offered here. Last time I came in looking for storage for my makeup but for some reason the entirety of the storage section was missing! I was very disappointed to say the least. But that doesn't discount from the fact that I still spent my time getting to know the new products in the store. This location is decently sized and is perfectly placed in a plaza I frequent very often. A little sad that food and drink isn't allowed in, since I get yogurt in the plaza often, but I usually just visit Daiso first before buying dessert. If only I could give this store 0 stars I would. I love this store but not this location. They're staff is unprofessional, racist, and degrading people. Their front cashier staff humiliated me in front of kids by treating me as if I'm a customer that can't pay for what I get because I'm not dressed. I asked for bags with my items because I bought a lot. Their cashier specifically told me to just carry it with my hands. After I paid I asked for bags again. The cashier said well you just have to put your card in again and pay the 20 cents plus tax or carry it with your hands. I don't know what this world is coming into. I love love love Daiso! This Daiso is one of the biggest Ive been to in this area. At $1.50 for some really good quality products. The ceramic plates are all made in Japan and are so cute! It's an excellent place to stock up on a budget on household goods and supplies. In addition to the bowls and plates, I'm a big fan of thief storage solutions. You can get a lot of storage baskets here where they would have cost you over $5 each at other places. $5 adds up when you want to by 5 at once! One thing to note is the food items may mot necessarily be cheaper than other places like Chinese groceries. Definitely a great stop for kitchen, bedroom and bathroom goods. read more

This is my first time going to Daiso Japan and it was great! I'm so glad that this store is going to be coming to Hawaii soon. Daiso Japan is like a 99 cents store but with better quality items. They have everything imaginable. Things that you didn't even think existed were there. We found a pair of house slippers with microfiber on it to help wipe the floors. Most things in there are $1.50 so you can get a lot of items. And because it's around Christmas time I got to get a lot do stocking stuffers for people. They have kitchen, stationary, clothing, gardening, etc. They also sell a bunch of different flavors of Hichew. They have a special limited edition called Caramel Apple Hichew. Daiso is still really awesome and affordable. But why is this Daiso so empty? Half the shelves are not stocked and boxes everywhere... I came here a few weeks ago and thought that they were just having an off day (Restocking, moving things around, etc), but I came again yesterday and it was just as disorganized, empty, and hectic. I probably just didn't go during the right time of day or week. I went on a Friday around 1 and the store was very empty (product wise) and disorganized. There were boxes out every where to restock shelves. And I feel like this Daiso didn't have as much selection as the others. My favorite I've been to so far is the one in El Cerrito. The cashier was very friendly, but overall I wasn't as excited about the products as I usually am. I usually walk about with a full bag of things and this time I got 3-5 things. The Marketplace plaza in Cupertino is a great place to kill an afternoon or evening. This shopping center has an abundance of restaurants, dessert places, a Marukai Japanese grocery store and my favorite little shop of curiousities, Daiso Japan. I like to grab a meal, then walk it off a bit by window shopping and people watching. Then i inevitably end up here. Did I need anything from this shop before I walked in? Nope. I LOVE DAISO. Daiso is THE BEST for random little things that you need, that you've been overpaying for anywhere else. However, you need to keep in mind that for a dollar fifty, it's almost impossible to make EVERYTHING with durable quality. Some things work GREAT and others will break on you right away. But for such a cheap price, I'm usually willing to take that risk. I'll list some of the things that I always get from here: Cotton pads: 90 for a dollar fifty! Great for taking off makeup, cleaning, etc. My GO-TO for makeup sponges Q-tips: If you're a makeup wearer, get the pointed end q-tips. They are magical for anything related to makeup. They come in a plastic bag and have light blue tips. Notebooks: Cute notebooks and regular notebooks for a decent price! Random cooking utensils (NOT THE MANDOLIN. If you want a mandolin, purchase a good quality one please. Also, don't get the apple cutter. My friend said it was dull and hard to cut through apples): whisk, vegetable peeler, can opener, etc. False eyelashes Magic eraser: This is one of the best purchases I have made from Daiso. It's the little cube cleaners that look like sponges and it works like a Magic Eraser but is WAY cheaper. It cleans pretty much EVERYTHING. Please do not use it as a beauty sponge though...these sponges contain special chemicals needed for stain removal. A girl working at Daiso once told me she used it to create a gradient effect on her nails...... Organizers: if you need to organize your desk, this is the place to go! I love how everything is so affordable at Daiso. If the item is not $1.50 it is usually $2.00 or $3.00. That is still pretty cheap!!! I love walking through Daiso and just exploring what they have. I would say it is the Japanese version of Target. You have one item in mind but then you end up with several unintentional items in your basket. Haha! Everything is quite adorable and has a big cuteness factor. When I was about to go to college, I was able to get a lot of items here such as towels, mugs, and stationary. I enjoy their notebooks because they're so cheap. Everything was quite organized when I come. It was also very empty on a Thursday afternoon so it was quite easy to shop around and take my time looking at each item. I found these random silicone heel slippers that goes under your sock. So if your sock slips out in your shoes you don't get blisters. I thought this was an ingenious item to have if you're a big shoe lover like me! What more can I say about THIS particular location that I already have not yet said about the other Daiso's? Yes, they carry close to the same things in each store... but if you're a die hard fan of knick-knacks, novelties, gadgets and kawaii - you'll notice that each location has that one particular item that sets itself apart from the others. Either they're the only ones that carry it - or they carry it in mass quantities, allowing the rest of us crazies to covet and cop the newest doo-dad. What would be a perfect example of this? I bought wooden vegetables and fruits that were "cuttable" with a velcro attachment at the Eastridge location - and was never able to find it anywhere else in bulk. (I really wish I bought more... because my friend's kids love them, and they're awfully expensive through the boutique toy store sites) This location happened to carry the cake sponges and spaceman sponges everyone wanted. I happen to own both - in as many varieties as possible. I have a box of goodies laying around as gifts for whatever random need necessary... cuz I am cool like that. Though this Daiso is not as big as the one in Mountain View, I was impressed by the wide selection of items here! They have a little bit of everything, but run out of things quickly. At first, I was a bit skeptical about this Daiso when it opened- super hyped and overrated. The store is a bit small and the aisles are a bit narrow, but there was more lighting in the store and items here looked newer. The first few weeks of their grand opening it was indeed overcrowded and people were buying like crazy! It looked like everything was free!! Most items are priced at $1.50, but I did see some items over that. I saw a large bowl for $25!! Some items here look like they could be $1 or less. The designs of the dishes are quite cute! And they have many items you probably won't need. You'll come here for one thing and end up buying the whole store!! Every time I go into a Daiso, I try to think practically and only get what I need. good selection and kept very clean. Typical daiso so can't really say what's outstanding here. Knocking off 2 stars for service. Store is fine and a lovely daiso at that! :) However, please train your employees better! I was trying to pay with my $20 bill for my items which cost $12. The employee repeatedly use his counterfeit detector pen on the same spot on the bill so not surprisingly it came out brown! He clearly thought the pen wasn't working but that's how real bills are dude. The pen will show light yellow when it's real and when you keep smudging the same spot it comes off as brown! What ensues after was just awkward and cringe. He calls the whole staff up front who all doesn't know what to do, even the manager. He then attempts to keep my hard earned money! My friend who worked at a bank then tells them to give me my money back because it's real. Fake comes off as black or dark blue! Overall very uncomfortable experience and will not return to this location again. Tip to employee: when you are uncertain or can't determine if it's fake or real give the money back and ask for a different currency. If the pen comes off as black (like sharpie black) then you contact the police but you don't have the right to detain the person. read more

I really had a blast wandering through this shop. They had such interesting things for sale, and extraordinary prices that made me super happy. I realize this isn't a super swanky place to shop, but my expectations aren't set for that experience coming here.
