Despite what he had done, he continued preparing the dish as though nothing had happened. After finishing the salad, the food-prep worker handed it to a waitress without telling her what he had done. The waitress, unaware that the food had been contaminated, proceeded to take the salad out to the dining area to be served to customers. This was an extremely serious violation of food-safety standards and could have put customers at risk of becoming ill. Food should always be prepared hygienically and handled responsibly, and intentionally contaminating food is unacceptable in a restaurant setting.

And even with all that history and character, the place is exceptionally clean and well cared for. They have a great selection of draft beer, outdoor seating, and the food was absolutely great. What really made the experience special was our waitress. She's lived in this tiny town her entire life, and you can tell there's a real sense of community and hometown pride here. She was friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. I also loved all the Americana throughout the tavern--the American flags, the eagle, and that comfortable small-town atmosphere that you just don't find everywhere anymore. And to top it off, the owner had a box of vegetable from his overflowing garden free for the taking! The restaurant was immaculately clean, my drink was never empty, and my waitress was informative, funny, friendly, and simply great at her job. And the food was beyond great! But for me, this visit was about much more than just a good meal. I used to come here more than 30 years ago with my sister. She and my brother-in-law are both gone now, and I wanted to come back and revisit a place that held some wonderful memories for me. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, and to my surprise, he remembered my sister and brother-in-law. He shared some wonderful things about them, and that made walking through the door worth more to me than I can really put into words. I'm extremely glad I stopped.
