They have wonderful, fresh, Italian food, tapas, happy hour, pizza, and a bar. The food is truly amazing (I ha portobella mushroom soup and butternut squash ravioli with brown sage butter) an the prices, while not cheap, are reasonable. Also, they have pizza that is comporable in price to any other pizza joint, if you're on a budget. Cost is about the same as pasta jay's but the quality is better. read more

Ok, so I agree with Phill B, this is one of Boulder's best kept secrets! It's in North Boulder, in the same plaza as Lucky's and China Gourmet, and the liquor store. Ha, it's basically a super plaza. Dagabi has the most amazing pancetta wrapped grilled jumbo shrimp. They are seriously amazing. And they are part of the happy hour menu. Go for these, and you can't go wrong. The bartenders and servers are also extremely friendly, and pretty cute as well. Staff is knowledgeable, and the ambience is fantastic. You would never guess this place existed; it really is as nice as anything on Pearl Street... but it's tucked away in Nobo. Oh, and they have a fantastic patio. Wow... what a surprise. We came into Boulder for a better dinner than what Estes Park was serving us, and it turned out to be a huge success. We got in just before happy hour ended and were able to get tapas for a steep discount. The flatbread pizzas were incredible. Probably ate too much tapas because by the time the main courses came, I was already filling up. We had the ratatouille pasta with chorizo and the angel hair with tomatos and basil. The flavors were perfect, and the sauces tasted freshly made. We were even given a free dessert which I believe was the chocolate tart. Absolutely incredible. Great service, great decor. I've been wanting to try this place for eons. Finally grabbed a couple of our foodie friends and made a date for this past weekend. We thought the food was great and really quite reasonably priced. My husband had the gnocchi ($14) which was delicious. It had sausage in it that was simply mouthwatering. Our friend had the ravioli ($15, I think) which was also superb. If I were to return when they had this same menu, I'd definitely pick one of these two. My own choice was okay, but not nearly as good: the lamb risotto ($18). Sounds sensational, right? The risotto was texturally wrong, not being very creamy. Almost more like sticky rice. Boo. Our other friend got the pizza ($11) which was good, but I don't really like judging an restaurant like this on their pizza. The atmosphere is nice and suitable for a romantic night out. Service was fine, but we did have one flub on the part of the waiter. We spent a great deal of time at the end of the meal going over their coffee options (no drip coffee, you can get a French press but it is too much for one person, etc). Finally my friend orders a cappuccino, and it never arrives. At least it wasn't on the bill. The waiter also seemed a bit put out when we mentioned we wanted to see the dessert tray. (Hey, I'm happy to read a printed menu, but if you only have the option of a presentation, don't act like it is a burden to read the names of the desserts as you point to them.) Great food and a great value in a small local establishment. Seems that new ownership in 2010/11 has really improved this place I am writing this just after our third or forth Monday night $12 buck paella deal. This is really the best deal in town for a satisfying meal that is also a bit exotic. Portions are usually large and we are looking forward to paella for lunch tomorrow. Service is always friendly. This restaurant does not fail to impress! We had three couples meet for a birthday party based on reviews we read - and it was a fabulous choice! The atmosphere is very welcoming and classy without being pretentious or stuffy. The service was excellent and when the food came we were ALL impressed! There wasn't a meal that we didn't enjoy. I had the Chicken Marsala and it was delicious! The one thing to note is the location. It is tucked away behind Lucky's Market. Don't follow Google's directions - because you will get lost! My heavenly dessert of a perfectly tender, red-wine-poached pear with vanilla-specked ice cream, big chucks of delicious candied walnuts all on top of lots of decadent caramel sauce ($7) deserves first mention when talking about my solo dinner in Dabagi Cucini's outdoor covered patio on a recent balmy night. It was "Día Mundial de la Tapa" (World Tapas Day), which featured seven specials appetizers plus the pear dessert and a Viña Real Rosado (rosé) wine from the prominent Rioja region ($8 the glass, $32 the bottle). Off this special menu I greatly enjoyed Gambas al Ajillo ($7), a generous small plate of medium-sized shrimp in a garlic brandy sauce. I also thought well of the slightly bitter Espinaca Catalana, spinach sautéed with onions and white wine topped with feta cheese Catalán style (the northeast province where Barcelona is located), $5.50), one of 30 tapas on the regular menu. Less successful was the big pile of Sushito-style fried "Padron Peppers" ($7.50) - way too salty and also over-priced for this now de rigueur appetizer. Google told me these peppers are from the municipality of Padrón in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, in northwestern Spain. My request for bread brought a whole little loaf of bland white pan. Oddly for a restaurant that specializes in Spanish and Italian dishes - and sometimes fails at executing its very expansive offerings - its menu is devoid of needed tildes: those swirls over 'n's", which are necessary because ñ is a separate letter in Spanish, and also accents where called for. Doubly odd because a Spaniard, Antonio Rullo, most nights supervises the establishment: one large dining room, the outdoor dining area - thankfully not on a street like many outdoor "patios" in Boulder but rather hidden back beyond a Lucky's supermarket on a quiet plaza - and a cozy back bar, muy español. My waiter, fresh out of CU-Boulder, proffered smooth, confident service that greatly added to a great dinner. By the way, did I mention my fabulous poached pear dessert? read more

I've been to Spain MANY times. The food here is better than what you'd get in Madrid or Barcelona. The mushrooms with balsamic vinegar is amazing! The shrimp wrapped in prosciutto is another delight. What's even better is their prices during Happy Hour. Ambiance is nice...but they could improve their front of the house. This is a really good restaurant. We went with a party of nine on a Saturday during dinner. The wait staff was very attentive, polite and accommodating. Overall the dishes were really good and pretty authentic for Spanish tapas. Fair warning: The portions really are not large enough to share. The pork skewers only had two small skewers and the chicken patty was also just two small patties. I liked the lamb cooked in a coke/wine reduction least and the tiramisu most. Ouch. My poor boyfriend. Poor, poor guy. My dad was in town and told him to choose a place he wanted to go for his birthday. He chose DaGabi. He'd never been there before. But he loves pizza, and he'd heard the pizza was good. It wasn't. And hardly anything else was either. The night was a comedy of errors. Our waiter looked to be about 16 (though he couldn't have been, since he was serving alcohol) and acted like it was his first day on the job. Here, I shall give you some sample dialogue: My dad: Do you have scallops tonight? Waiter: Uh, I think so. My dad: How are they cooked? Waiter: Uh, I'm not sure. My dad: Will you go check? Waiter: Uh, yeah, let me check. ::leaves for two minutes:: Uh, they're sauteed. He was similarly knowledgable about wine. But hey, he was nice, and he was trying, so instead of being angered by him, I chose to be amused instead. Now, it was a Tuesday night at 6pm, we were practically the only people in the restaurant, and they were out of two of the items I tried to order. If they're out of stuff at 6pm, what are they out of at 10pm?? As for the food... The good: the tiramisu. They should just open a tiramisu stand on Pearl St and be done with it. Also, the gnocchi appetizer was pretty tasty, if tiny. The average: The Arctic Char special, which was cooked perfectly and was garnished with tender chickpeas, but had an aggressively bland (yes, an oxymoron, but weirdly accurate) tomato sauce that really blah-ified it. Aaaand the bad: I had to spit a clam out from the clam appetizer because it was clearly rotten. Dan's calzone tasted like rubbing alcohol. My pasta with spring vegetables was roughly on par with Noodles & Company's. And the bill ended up being around $100. It started out sort of amusing, but at the end of the night I just felt kind of mildly sick and wanted to go home and pull a blanket over my head. Save your money and your tastebuds and avoid this place. Go next door to China Gourmet or something. For $25 less per head you'll leave spicy and satisfied. read more

I had dinner at this place last night and it was wonderful. They had a special menu for the night and I had the Santa Cecilia Salad as my entree. It was the perfect size and the tastes were very interesting, like nothing I've had before. My mother had the Paella which I tried and it was delicious. We also had a salad with blue cheese, strawberries and walnuts that was amazing. The ambiance was very pleasant, not too loud, but not too quiet. It had very dim lighting and rustic walls which made it feel like you were somewhere else. The waiters were very pleasant and quiet, they did not bother us too much, the just seemingly floated around the restaurant and were only there when you needed them. Its is pretty far out in North Boulder but I think that makes it special. read more

(Same coffee used at Trident, Cafe Sole, and Page Two cafés) Some food gets pricey, but I had a pizza and it was affordable, tasty, and I took home leftovers. Dagabi is a great place to go for a date. The dining area is nice for an on-the-town kind of dinner. The outdoor dining tent is perfect on a summer night. I recommend eating in the bar area for a local, upscale, Cheers kind of atmosphere. ...And for dessert, or just a treat, I HIGHLY recommend the cappuccino with a bowl of chocolate gelato. We visited this little place tucked back on N Broadway for Restaurant Week. First off, what a great initiative that showcases fantastic restaurants across the front range, and Dagabi is not to be left out. Our full order included an assorted cheese plate, Mediterranean olives, grilled swordfish skewer, fruit and arugula salad, red trout, lamb shank, and dessert - yea, we went all out!! Across the board, the food was tasty, timely, and somewhat unique. My favorite dish had to be the grilled swordfish skewer. The pieces were tender with a lovely grilled flavor that was fantastic. The skewers were served with a Spanish influenced ratatouille which paired absolutely perfectly. 5 stars! Close behind as my 2nd recommendation would be the lamb shank. Tender, juicy, and doused in a sauce that brought upon new flavors with every bite. The 4 star rating is because of the dessert. Granted, I was extremely full, but the desserts were average in my opinion. Coming from a guy who is fairly spoiled with desserts, an "average" dessert IS NOT a bad one. I just mean that in comparison to the rest of the meal the dessert needed a little help. Overall, the folks over at the restaurant are attentive, happy, and ready to make your experience a special one. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND venturing up north on Broadway for this fusion restaurant. Instead of the usual fare of Tapas, which we usually go to DaGabi Cucina for, we decided to for Denver Restaurant Week and wow, what a tasty decision it was. Three courses, First, Second, and dessert. For the First Course we had the Codorniz en Escabeche con Judiones (a Spanish style salad with pickled Quail) and the Manchego Caesar with some damn tasty Spanish White Anchovies. For the Second Course we had the Cuchifrito de Cerdo (a tasty Spanish Stew, and the Lasagna de la Nona (a fantastic seafood lasagna roll). Now for the deserts; if you have anything, make sure it is the Pera al Rioja, it was devine. A Bosc Pear poached in Rioja wine, covered in dark Catalan chocolate. Served with caramel salt gelato. The other desert we had was the tasty Tiramisu. read more

Lovely North Boulder restaurant, a relaxed charm with a more local crowd. I love their happy hour, they have many tapas items on special and all are really tasty. The ratatouille, mushrooms and shrimp were stand-outs. I love their Seafood Stew (Cioppino style) has tons of shrimp, mussels, clams, salmon and octopus. The Arugula salad with toasted hazelnuts, oranges, Sarrano ham, lemon and olive oil was relatively basic but very good. The only thing I've had that wasn't a favorite was the Filetes Rusos-Two Pan fried Spanish style hamburgers with pork.. just nothing special. There's more of a 'homey' vibe to this restaurant, the food is well done and tasteful, but there's not a lot of experimentation, you could say. This place draws a different crowd from Pearl St., more relaxed and local. read more

We ordered dessert first, and the almond flour tart was flavorful and dense without being dry or over sweet. The accompanying whipped cream had a delectable mystery additive that paired beautifully. The next course was the sardine on toast, a beautiful silvery fish (not the jarred pizza salt bombs) served bruschetta style. My main course was the special, Phyllo dough stuffed with lamb shank pieces and vegetables, accompanied by mashed chickpeas and perfectly grilled tiny asparagus. The hubby and I took some clients here for dinner after reading the reviews on Yelp and had an enjoyable time. This restaurant is a little off the beaten path, but truly a surprising treasure. The wine selection was broad without being overwhelming. We ordered a couple appetizers - the jumbo shrimp (enjoyed by all) and the balsamic button mushrooms (which I, a professing mushroom hater, ended up loving and eating several helpings!). Our entrees, while tasty and satisfying, were a little below the standards I expect from a upper-scale restaurant. The dessert really brought up the score in the last quarter - we sampled the coconut cheesecake which was delightful. The service was prompt and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. Although I would recommend this eatery to anyone who hasn't been before, it will be a while before we go back. There are just too many other places to try! And while we enjoyed our meal here, it wasn't gastronomically thrilling enough to bring us back again right away. Overall, worth a try! read more

With the current covid problem, they have expanded their outdoor area--mostly covered--so the tables are well spaced out. Diverse, spanish themed menu, with the focus on Tapas. Endless choices. For our main dishes this time we had the Paella Carne--meaty and flavorful, and the seafood stew--fantastic. Good service and fair prices. Great staff, nice wine and cocktail selection and a fantastic happy hour! We went for happy hour, ordered about 6 dishes and most were yummy. The only item I was disappointed in was the "mini-Caesar" salad. For $6.50 it was TINY. I am taking the size of a tea saucer, very little dressing, more croutons than salad. Most full size salads are not much more (I am from NYC metro area so I know how expensive things are ). Everything else we got was delicious. We had the linguine, ratatouille, Dagabi bread, croquettes and one other item that escapes me and all were excellent. The mood and design of the restaurant is great. Nestled in North Boulder partially hidden behind the supermarket, Lucky's, you walk in feeling like you've found some sort of a hidden gem. It's chic, clean, and cozy and therefore, would make a really wonderful date restaurant. I split the Foccacia pizza (Ricotta, mozzarella, feta, sun dried tomato, artichoke hearts, pesto) and it was delicious. I also had a bite of the Margherita pizza (Mozzarella, fresh basil, marinara) which was very average and just all right. Similarly, the Penne Al Pollo and Fideos Con Tomate were just all right. Had I ordered the all right dishes for myself, I would have walked out disappointed. However. Their tiramisu is absolutely, drop-dead, 100% exquisite. It is light and fluffy and sweet (but not overly so) and creamy and just... perfect. It's perfect. My sisters were both given some as a birthday on-the-house treat, and though they generally are not Tiramisu lovers as I am, happened to love it and said that they would come back for the dessert. I'm going to snag myself an unsuspecting boy, convince him to bring me to this place ("What? I've never tried! Let's go!") and eat my own weight in the Tiramisu. No entrees necessary. Okay, fine. Disappointed--I was expecting at least a four star experience here, but a combination of less than perfect food and a disdainful, slow waiter put the damper on the meal. For starters, I love grilled polenta, but the appetizer we got was just firm and not crunchy at all, which is how I like it. However, it was tasty. We also shared a white pizza with shrimp and I couldn't eat it. My husband liked it fine, but there was something in the topping that really made it inedible for me--a sweetness that shouldn't have been there. I spent eight months traveling around Spain so I know a thing or two about tapas! The food here is authentic with an American flare, and the happy hour prices are great. If you go on Tuesday, it's happy hour all night! Try the Black tiger shrimp wrapped in Serrano ham, and the Pizza Salsiccia is also a fave. I also love their new fire grilled green peppers (kind of like shishitos) and the chorizo is my husband's favorite. We had a 2 hour date night while our youngest saw a movie with some friends and we found this place near where we were in Boulder. It was a good find! Great service from Gabbie. She was very fun and attentive and very accommodating to my wife's gluten sensitivity. Good wine selection with a really good Don David Malbec. We also really enjoyed the atmosphere which was a crisp contemporary decor with a quaint little patio. Last but not least the place had good food. It was a Spanish place so there were a lot of tapas, which is my wife's favorite dining. The antipasta plate had a good selection of meats, fruits and cheeses and the house bread was awesome. Wife had the swordfish special which was a little overdone, but well seasoned. I had the pan fried veal burger which had a great sauce. The salad had super fresh greens with delish add ons, the empanada was unexpected in presentation, but yummy, really tasty chicken dish, cooked perfectly the sauce has great flavor, plus a dessert which was ok, churros aren't my fav. I ordered two things plus a dessert and first I had to wait an additional 30 minutes more than they stated. Then I received each item separately. They gave me my pizza and dessert and said that was all I ordered. when I said I also ordered another entree, they said it would be out shortly. I asked if they could keep my pizza warm while a waited. I got the rest of my order about 15-20 min later and of course the pizza is cold and the other entree seemed like it was luke warm. It's disappointing that not only did I have to wait but my food was cold!
