Neighborhood eatery. Been living here 3 years 2 months. Short walk away. We tend to go every couple of months, loved it until our visit today. We usually go for weekend brunch when we have friends over or family. Always get the country fried steak but today the whole meal portion was even smaller than the last portion change about a year and a half ago. The eggs were the only normal size portion as they're eggs. The meat was different and the gravy was different - the meal was not satisfying like it usually is! Very disappointed. Also, my mom forgot her Rayban glasses there, we came straight home, then went right back and the glasses were no where to found. Our area was empty and no new people were seated - our cups had been cleared off but the chairs were not neat nor the table Cleaned. Very weird , hate to think the server has it as she picked up our tables and was the only person in the area up to when we left- she was a lady with some rose arm tattoos. So disappointed. read more

I will NOT be coming back. A group of us met for lunch on Saturday. Those of us who had salads had fairly good food. Everyone else had sandwiches they didn't like and didn't finish. For example, the French Dip was a thin burger on regular sliced bread with a bowl of brown liquid. One friend ordered the "Hot Blonde" which was not hot and tasted bad. She was given a discount. They shouldn't have charged her at all because she didn't even eat half of it. It was that bad. Aside from the two of us who had salads, everyone in the group of 10 complained about how awful the food was. The staff was friendly but sparse, and inexperienced. The hot food took way to long to come out, and several people mentioned that a it wasn't hot. It was just a mess. But what it all comes down to was BAD food - badly prepared, badly represented on the menu, and bad tasting or tasteless. Good diner fare. Consistency is pretty reliable, other than out of some ingredients on a few occasions. The servers are very friendly and helpful. I like that they are dog friendly and have heat controls outside that the customer can adjust if needed for the colder weather at some tables. read more

Definitely enjoyed their omelette for brunch which was filled with bacon that was done just right and the biscuit had good taste and physical properties and potatoes were pleasant to eat. Can't complain about the portions of my meal. read more

Jaci is amazing. She recommended me some potatoes as a side for my lunch. Describing them as mashed potatoes in a crunchy shell. When I got them they totally reminded me of a Dutch side called Aardappel kroketten (potatoe croquettes). I am from Holland and haven't had these in 7 years or so. We do eat them around the Hollidays, so I was very excited to get them. She even asked if I wanted an extra side of them. Definitely couldn't pass that up. We ordered the veggie burger and the portobello sandwich. I WANT to like this place because it's my neighborhood restaurant. Disappointed on both counts. Portobello was well flavored, but was the thinnest portobello I have ever seen. The veggie burger was bland. Gotta hit a veggie burger with spices as it begins as a blank slate. Remember the wonderful onion rings? My plate had 3....maybe 4 with a balsamic glaze. Why? I can see the sad results of the inflation meeting over how we're cutting costs. It was a but. So sad. As with most, came here on guy fieri's recommendation. It's not bad, but really was not anything special. Service was good and ambiance is clean but nothing special. Some unique beers on tap. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich, at the price of 13$. The fries are wedge style without much flavor. We waited 1 hour for our meal. When you wait for that long, the whole "flavor" of the food is shot. We should have just walked out, but we kept thinking it can't be much longer - always the optimist. The waiter told us 3 times that the food would be coming out shortly. Others were seated after us, served and finished with their meal before our meal came out. Dad's Kitchen has always been a favorite!! The staff is so nice and welcoming. The food gets served quickly and I've never had it messed up! Given how friendly and warm the servers are, even if there was a mistake I'm sure it would be taken care of easily and without headache. Our server was Courtney last time and she was a hoot! Love her!! The restaurant feels very familiar and family oriented. Open seating and they have a day room seating option which is just lovely. The windows open up the space and let the natural air and light in without too much noise or light pollution. It's actually quite perfect. Truely disappointed in the service I received today. I was in the area and was excited to bring home food from Dads. Unfortunately this will be my last time here. I walked in and ordered a hot blonde with a side house salad with ranch dressing and a taco salad with steak to go. I watched my order as it was being written down by the host. 30 minutes later I received my order and when I got to my car I checked it. My taco salad was missing black beans and steak. I was also missing the dressing for both salads. I went inside and told the host so she quickly ran to the back and after some waiting she came out with my missing beans and carnitas. I didn't order carnitas. More waiting for me, yay. The host also said "my manager will comp the meal" little did I know that was incorrect, and the manager comped my steak. Not even the worst part. I got home with a now soggy sandwich in hand and low and behold my side salad had 1/4 of an avocado peel, sticker and all. I've worked in the food service industry, more specifically to go orders. I understand that people make mistakes but today was just one after another and the peel in my food was the final straw. That makes me question how my food was being handled. Once discovered I had the pleasure of taking to the manager, Anne, who offered me a gift card for my sandwich and salad. I declined, because I refuse to go out of my way for a restaurant that has clearly showed me a disinterest in decent customer service. Anne never confronted me to apologize, I had to ask to speak to her. And once discovering the peel I called her immediately. We came in for the beer week specials and got the $16.50 beercheese burger. While it was cooked perfect and the bun was good the burger flavor was meh. I scraped off the cheese to find an unseasoned patty. But major props for cooking a perfect med rare it just wasnt my favorite taste wise. Now the Brussel sprouts were soo good I would come back for just that. If I would of known the burger was $16.50 probably wouldnt of gotten it as that price seems excessive. The large portion of sprouts offset the cost for me. We also had the house stout which was decent. Loved the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. What a surprise this place was! Tucked away off Hazel in fair oaks, I was expecting boring "mom and pop" type food. Boy, was I wrong! We sat at the bar and I enjoyed an amazing Bloody Mary and delicious salad. The menu seemed to be mostly farm to fork with some organic options. Very fresh and crafty made. This is a neighborhood restaurant for us and when they first opened it was decent. Current day, the food is barely meh and the service is severely lacking. My party of two waited for 5 minutes at the front before we were acknowledged by a busser. It was after the dinner rush and an hour and a half before closing. I felt like we were an inconvenience to the waitress. We were seated and no one came by for nearly 10 minutes. In that time a table on one side us got their orders incorrect after what seemed like waiting for a long time. How long? I don't know but their 10 year old looking kid was not hungry after waiting they canceled his incorrect order. The table on the other side of us found flies in their food. We ordered two $16 burgers and they actually came out pretty quickly. Buns were small, dry and oily. The patty was similar to the frozen ones I get at Costco. I was happy to see they no longer serve the nasty burnt finger looking fries they used to but now they are steak fries that look like they are from the freezer isle. Burger was half as good as an In and Out cheese burger. Our waitress was never around to take a beer order or to refill water. Our order would have had two, maybe 4 beers but she never took an order and if they did I'm sure it would be like the last time we went and they'd never come around for a refill. This is not only bad service but it hurts their bottom line. Too bad they don't seem to care. The bill seemed steep for two burgers and fries. There was no value in the meals and the heavy greasy feel, and mess on my fingers, made me regret the effort. On top of that, there was a surcharge on the bill for non-cash payment. I know good food and do pay for it often. This visit is right there with past visits and concretes my decision to knock it off the list. I get pretty annoyed when ignorant people complain about things like: the lobby size (were you just looking for something to complain about?), a weak margarita (who goes to American food on Cinco de Mayo and complains about it‍), or my fav, the idiot who said they called for the first time (during covid) to place a phone order, and they had to wait. And my favorite, the god mom owner. I would refuse your dog too. It's a dog. Why would anyone want to eat a meal next to your dog? I don't, and I love dogs. Staff is prompt and courteous. Good selection of beverages. However, the burgers are served raw. If you're not into ingesting live parasites then suggest you skip the burger. There's a note on the menu that says something like 'Dad says this burger cannot be cooked well done'. Apparently that applies even if you request it to be fully cooked. Not sure how the environmental health department gave this place a passing grade. No fast food burger joint would be permitted to serve raw minimally cooked burgers like Dad's does. I'm disappointed. I really wanted to love this place. I have heard so much about it and finally found the time to visit. We had to wait quite a while for our table, but being busy is a good sign, right!? We ordered a couple of the DDD specials and we weren't impressed. The food was flavorless and greasy. Our server was lovely and tried hard to make sure our drinks were refilled. The food runner needs to learn how to smile, she looked miserable! I won't be coming back anytime soon. Dads has always been my go to when I want a vegetarian mean and good beer, cider or even a kombucha on tap. I also love that they have gluten options for bread. Sadly the menu and quality has changed over the years. Their fries especially the blue cheese habanero used to be a highlight of the meal. Now they serve thick what appears to be frozen and definitely flavorless steak fries. Yuck. Especially considering prices have gone up. I'll probably stick to going to the downtown location as they have the impossible burger and have kept up the quality. read more

I came to this one because I wanted to see if it was still good. NOPE! I ordered the Cowboy Burger, cooked medium with onion rings. The burger came out very well done, and the onion rings were not edible, at all. I wanted to pep up my well done burger so I asked for some pickles, and they charged me for pickles? LOL. Burgers don't get pickles according to Dads unless you pay for them. Thank goodness my GF sandwich came with onions or I woulda probably had to pay for those also. LAME! The onion rings looked awesome but that quickly changed when I attempted to eat them. Outside was drenched in the sauce they use, they were burnt and the inside was an oil sponge. Terrible.
