Dads has always been my go to when I want a vegetarian mean and good beer, cider or even a kombucha on tap. I also love that they have gluten options for bread. Sadly the menu and quality has changed over the years. Their fries especially the blue cheese habanero used to be a highlight of the meal. Now they serve thick what appears to be frozen and definitely flavorless steak fries. Yuck. Especially considering prices have gone up. Burgers don't get pickles according to Dads unless you pay for them. Thank goodness my GF sandwich came with onions or I woulda probably had to pay for those also. LAME! This is a neighborhood restaurant for us and when they first opened it was decent. Current day, the food is barely meh and the service is severely lacking. My party of two waited for 5 minutes at the front before we were acknowledged by a busser. It was after the dinner rush and an hour and a half before closing. I felt like we were an inconvenience to the waitress. We were seated and no one came by for nearly 10 minutes. In that time a table on one side us got their orders incorrect after what seemed like waiting for a long time. How long? I don't know but their 10 year old looking kid was not hungry after waiting they canceled his incorrect order. The table on the other side of us found flies in their food. We ordered two $16 burgers and they actually came out pretty quickly. Buns were small, dry and oily. The patty was similar to the frozen ones I get at Costco. I was happy to see they no longer serve the nasty burnt finger looking fries they used to but now they are steak fries that look like they are from the freezer isle. Burger was half as good as an In and Out cheese burger. Our waitress was never around to take a beer order or to refill water. Our order would have had two, maybe 4 beers but she never took an order and if they did I'm sure it would be like the last time we went and they'd never come around for a refill. This is not only bad service but it hurts their bottom line. Too bad they don't seem to care. The bill seemed steep for two burgers and fries. There was no value in the meals and the heavy greasy feel, and mess on my fingers, made me regret the effort. On top of that, there was a surcharge on the bill for non-cash payment. I know good food and do pay for it often. This visit is right there with past visits and concretes my decision to knock it off the list. I had been reading about this place for months and finally realized that I would be near the Hazel location at lunchtime. There was plenty of parking and open tables when walked in at noonish. I was warmly greeted and directed to choose my own table on the patio. My mom made terrific meatloaf, so I chose the meatloaf sandwich which came with fries. Gotta say I was disappointed with both. Flavorless. So I waited a month and went back. This time I ordered Dad's burger which comes with...fries. This burger was perfectly cooked-rare, and very tasty. The special sauce was a nice addition to the flavor of the burger so I ordered some for the fries. I'm disappointed. I really wanted to love this place. I have heard so much about it and finally found the time to visit. We had to wait quite a while for our table, but being busy is a good sign, right!? We ordered a couple of the DDD specials and we weren't impressed. The food was flavorless and greasy. I wasn't greeted and though there were open tables, not seated for quite a while. Not sure how the environmental health department gave this place a passing grade. No fast food burger joint would be permitted to serve raw minimally cooked burgers like Dad's does. Tried Dad's Kitchen for the first time last night. The food was ok, and the beer selection is good, but the service was terrible. First, it took awhile for the waitress to come to our table. After we ordered, it took forever for our hamburger and sandwich to arrive. It came to the table with luke warm french fries, which leads me to believe the food sat it the kitchen for awhile before I asked the stewardess to check on the food. We asked for ketchup and salt and pepper, only to have to get it ourselves from another table. Lastly, a soda refill request was only accomplished with a second request. We tried this location as part of a date night with the wife. I had the classic cheeseburger and the wife had the Dad's burger, blue cheese and bacon. The buns are fresh made not prepackaged store buns. The meat is fresh not frozen preformed patties. The fries are steak fries, harder to cook. WTF happened to this place? Last few times have been sub par. Tonight was awful. I got the cobb. It was the blandest most boring cobb I have ever seen. The chicken was super bland, the bacon was limp, the blue cheese dressing tasted like half and half with some mayo and a couple blue cheese crumbles. It was watery and absolutely gross. My friend got the mac and cheese with bacon and ate three bites of it because the pasta was so overdone it was mushy. I ordered the cowboy burger for my partner, to take home to him and they gave me the wrong burger and he said it was nothing to write home about. AND I was sat outside, but asked for a table inside if one opened up because it was still very cold despite the heaters and was told I would be moved as soon as one opened. I sat outside all by myself waiting for my friend and some water. 10 minutes later and the server finally came out to give me water. Through the window,I had seen a couple get up from a table inside. I asked her about that (especially since I was told we would get the next inside table) she said I could have it, if the host wasn't already sitting someone there.... me. that should have been me. She went inside and I was then told I could go in. It was weird. The ONLY yummy thing I got was the spiked apple cider drink. That gave them 2 stars tonight. Year after year, dads never disappoints! I can walk in and order a beer, tacos or even a pizza. The staff is always courteous, prompt and ready to serve. It's truly like coming home. The rotating beer selection never lets me down. The pint nights are very fun and the dads mugs are the finishing touch to a great restaurant. I truly recommend this to all of my friends, the private room is perfect for large parties that I've reserved for family functions. If there was a way to give Dads 10 stars instead of 5 I would! But worst of all...,and the whole reason that we decided to come take one more chance on the service....there was NO garlic on the garlic Parmesan fries.
