    Turkey Club...half eaten :/
    Zoena H.

One of my favorite things at Jack's is their ice tea. You can tell that it is freshly made, not out of a gun, and they clean the barrel that it is made in. And their hand carved turkey. Everything here is always great, but the turkey is always a plus. I had their turkey sandwich along with my fiancé getting the barbecue steak salad. For it being a steak salad, I would encourage more steak on the salad, but besides that, I have to say the food is always amazing. The service is always on par as well. Always recommend this place.

Service was great, helpful and energetic staff. My mother ordered the buffalo chicken salad (her favorite), and it was delicious. Full of celery, apples and carrots, very tasty, and Jacks has the best blue cheese dressing. The urban fries were good. I wish they added more chili oil and chili flakes though. Lastly, my bbq tritip. You can tell the bread and produce are very fresh, which really brings the sandwich together. The tritip is a bit too chewy, needs to be grilled a little longer, especially when made fresh for sandwiches. Good place overall, and would recommend to family/friends.

What a low quality salad for puck up! I had the same salad last night at the restaurant and decided to order it again for pick up and there was only lettuce! Check the picture. I wish I had ordered it on an app instead of on their website and got my money back!

Not only is this place close to the office but it's always my go to, when I need a good BBQ Try-Tip Sandwich fix ! Plus, I order a side of Jack fries. If you don't know about those, let me school you for just a moment. So these taste just like McDonald's fries except they are jazzed up with chili oil, chili flakes , blue cheese crumbles , blue cheese dressing and chopped parsley for garnish. IYKYK and if you don't well.... You ought to ! This is definitely a big sandwich , the fires you can share. But there are days when I just want the trip tip over a salad, which is pretty amazing as well. This location get quite busy during the lunch rush. I try to avoid those hours and show up 2pm ish when everyone is back to work.

Almost removed three stars but the overall flavor of the food combined with good service saved them. The meat combo plate is very good. Nice portion, hot and fresh, and combined with the tomato soup (why does every tomato soup taste like the one you get in the bin at Safeway?) it makes for a complete lunch. The Cobb salad was the harder item to dissect. The dressing was good, plenty of variety in the salad but the Salmon that came on top was so small. It seemed to be about 4 ounces max which ends up being not enuf to eat. It was also not warm and not that juicy so maybe it was cooked earlier and put on top to handle the lunch rush? Luckily the soup rounded out the meal. Another strange point was no bread was served (not even just a slice) with salad or soup. It was my first time so i don't know if that is be design or just an oversight. Lastly, my co-worker wanted to get a burger for lunch. This place has a grill, makes good hot meats like the tri tip, but does not offer a burger. How does that work? It is a good place to eat overall but the observations above resulted in a dual star beat down.

Since getting a good, decent salad is tougher than you think, it really limits the options, at least in the greater Sacramento area. Sure you could go to the supermarket and pick up all the fresh produce or even get a premade salad kit but what fun is that? Which takes me to "Jack's Urban Eats", a very popular place to get an excellent fresh salad with locations all over the Sacramento region to serve you. In this case, I am reviewing the Gold River/Rancho Cordova location. This particular restaurant is at the Gold River Town Center directly off of Sunrise Blvd and adjacent to Golden Centre Lane surrounding many other restaurants, shopping, and retail stores. On any given day (depending what time you arrive), parking can sometimes be a challenge. But much of this area is spread out where I've never had any issues. This easiest way to find this Jack's Urban Eats is that it neighbors Blaze Pizza and directly across from a Raley's. I came here during the afternoon of Friday 11/25/2022 at around 2:15pm. Since I was very hungry, I decided on ordering two items off of their extensive menu, the "Greek Chicken Salad" and their "Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich". The ordering process here is identical to all of the other locations where you place your order at the counter. They provide you with a number and your drink cup and proceed to wherever you choose to sit. The inside of this place is well laid out but it is a bit on the darker side. Probably because it was a gloomy fall day which definitely didn't help. Once both my salad and sandwich arrived, they definitely did not skimp on the portions. My Green salad was loaded with seasoned white chicken which was tender, moist, and juicy. And my sandwich also hit the spot as the chicken in it was similar to that of my salad as well as a generous amount of mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes on a soft French roll. For both of these items being in the $9-11 range, the price itself isn't all that bad. I also took the other half of my sandwich home and enjoyed that as an evening snack. With that said and done, I am giving the Gold River "Jack's Urban Eats" an above average four-star rating.

Honestly, we haven't found anything that comes close. I order the same thing every single time: the 7-ounce steak and eggs, medium rare, and I swap the toast for a pancake with bananas baked inside. I can't overstate how good this meal is. The steak is always cooked just right, the eggs are perfect, and that banana pancake takes it to another level. It's one of those dishes you start craving before you even walk in the door. We've even gone there for "breakfast dinner" because sometimes you just need it. Yes, it's more expensive than it was many years ago when we first started going. It's no longer the ultra-affordable spot it once was. But we also know they treat and pay their employees well. We've had family members work there while attending college, and that matters to us. Supporting a business that takes care of its people makes the higher price easier to accept. Beyond the food, it's just a cozy place. If you can grab a booth, even better. There's something comfortable and familiar about it that keeps us coming back. We're lucky to have two locations accessible to us. We prefer the one off Sunrise since it's the first one we ever visited and it has more parking, but the Madison location is just as solid. Until something better and more affordable comes along, Brookfields will remain our favorite. And honestly, it's going to be hard to beat.

From the menu…read moreyou could tell it's just a blue collar family style very basic meatloaf mashed potatoes type place, with very affordable prices. I'm staying at a nearby hotel for a trade show I'm involved in and didn't feel like traveling far and everything else was fast food and this was a sitdown place so that's why I decided to go there despite the fact I knew it was not high end. The food was priced well there was lots of people and so I knew everything was relatively fresh, but I just had to laugh when my Dish arrived. I settled on the flank steak and shrimp combo platter no mashed potatoes. I opted for veg instead and no cornbread or buns since I'm trying to be keto. I also got a glass of wine, which was happy hour prices and very reasonable when my Dish arrived. It was hilarious instead of a steak. It looked like a cow penis! It tasted fine although it was a little past the "medium" I had requested. They delivered it with a bottle of A1 sauce without me requesting it. that further indicating this is a very basic basic restaurant since at fine dining establishments with steak they are offended if you order A1 sauce! I happen to like A1 sauce even with nice steaks and so I just had to chuckle, but I did like my A1 sauce! The shape was just hilarious. I wish it would've just been round or square or flat or something anything but a penis shape!

They have an amazing happy hour menu that goes until 10 Pm. The prime rib tacos were SO amazing, not spicy, so flavorful and the texture of the corn salsa added so much to the whole bite. The garlic fries were fantastic, loaded with chopped garlic (jarred kind), parsley and parm. We also tried the loaded potato skins, they were great but I was pretty full by the time they came so we left a wounded soldier. The tumbleweed onion straws were also fantastic! My friends ordered prime rib, kabobs and the filet mignon and were nice enough to share! The prime rib is served on a sizzling plate with au jus, and was fantastic! The filet was well seasoned and the kabobs were good, although I prefer a little more rare. The appetizer happy hour menu had $6 and $8 items, food and drinks. The howdy beer was $4 and was pretty decent! My friends loved the $6 raspberry lemon drops! Above all of this though, our server was amazing. She worked her butt off for us and really made our visit Amazing. I'm the worst and only caught that her name started with a J, and she'd been there for 20 years. I do have one suggestion. I completely understand and appreciate the elevated vibe they're going for--it's part of what makes the place special. That said, I think there may be a bit of a missed opportunity with the bocce ball courts. There are large signs saying kids can't play on them and must stay with adults, but honestly, I come here at least once a quarter and they're often not being used. Given the location and the number of families in the area, it could be interesting to consider adding a small playground in the back. I know that might sound unconventional for a place like this, but I've seen restaurants do this successfully in Europe. What's really missing around here is a place where parents can enjoy an incredible meal and drinks while their kids have a safe place to play nearby. Right now, the only places that come close are breweries. There are almost always families here when I visit, so just a thought! Either way, Shangri-La remains one of my favorite spots.
