Usually this place is on point as we have been going here for years. Tonight was rather disappointing. First as we walked up the front door was covered in greasy handprints and it looked like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. Second our food was cold, our fries were cold and there was no ketchup. I asked the young lady at the counter for ketchup and she had no clue where the ketchup was. How can you work the front counter and have no idea where ketchup is!!!! Third, the place was dirty and most of the tables had dirty plates, fries and napkins on the floor. We have never seen this place like this before and to top it all off, all of the employees were standing around chatting instead of working. Is this what $20 minimum wage looks like? Come here for a work lunch with 4 of my co-workers. Ordered in person and ate in the back. I'd never been to this particular Jack's location, and haven't been in this area in over 15 yrs. Went with my go-to meal with is the tri-tip salad, with seasoned Chickpeas in place of the fresh onions. Can't ever go wrong eith that. Co-workers order burgers and or chicken sandwiches. Have been here a couple of times after a day on the river. Firstly there is plenty of parking since it's in a small shopping center. There is always plenty of outdoor and indoor seating which I appreciate. The line to order and the wait to get your food is very very quick. I really appreciate how they have many many options - Sandwiches - Bowls - Salads - Hot plates So far here is what I have had Yes! - Urban Fries - this alone is amazing and will have me coming back! Great portion and flavors - BBQ Tri-Tip sandwich - very flavorful and delicious Pass :/ - BBQ chicken bowl - chicken portion is very very small and the rice portion is waaaaay to much. Flavor is there, but with the portions of the chicken and rice I would pass - Mac and Cheese - looks great, but zero flavor With that said I will keep coming back and continue to keep trying new things. read more

Pains me write this. Jacks has always been a lunchtime go-to for everyone in fair oaks, rancho and gold river. Been going there for over a decade consistently. The quality in the last 5 years has gotten poor. Poor ingredients and cheap quality. It's a shame. I was able to tolerate the 2 day stomach ache after eating for a few years because I still enjoyed it somewhat, but recently, I had a moment where enough was enough: the ketchup squirter. They have clearly been adding water to the ketchup squirter. It's so watery that you can't even dip a French fry and get any sauce. It's like dipping a fry into tomato juice. They've been doing this with the blue cheese on the urban fries for years, but I was able to tolerate it. But ketchup, the cheapest sauce in the entire world being watered down, is my final straw. The service at this location was fantastic. People were friendly and fast! Besides that the whole experience was very ehhh. Sandwiches were more bread and veggies than anything. The chicken tenders were well done to say the least. The best thing we had was by far the urban fries. That is the only thing I would go back to eat. I go to Jacks a lot and meet friends there. I enjoy my food most times but there is inconsistency in their tri tip sandwiches Sometimes the meat is so tender and good and sometimes very tough. I also love their BLT but same thing I've had some that were amazing and some that were not good at all..If they could improve their consistency it would be near perfect. read more

One of my favorite things at Jack's is their ice tea. You can tell that it is freshly made, not out of a gun, and they clean the barrel that it is made in. And their hand carved turkey. Everything here is always great, but the turkey is always a plus. I had their turkey sandwich along with my fiancé getting the barbecue steak salad. For it being a steak salad, I would encourage more steak on the salad, but besides that, I have to say the food is always amazing. The service is always on par as well. Service was great, helpful and energetic staff. My mother ordered the buffalo chicken salad (her favorite), and it was delicious. Full of celery, apples and carrots, very tasty, and Jacks has the best blue cheese dressing. The urban fries were good. I wish they added more chili oil and chili flakes though. Lastly, my bbq tritip. You can tell the bread and produce are very fresh, which really brings the sandwich together. The tritip is a bit too chewy, needs to be grilled a little longer, especially when made fresh for sandwiches. Good place overall, and would recommend to family/friends. read more

Been awhile since i'd been here, but I was really craving a buffalo chicken sando so the wife & I stopped in sunday around 5pm. Not really busy for sitdown...takeout seemed to be their biggest business. The sandwiches arrived after about 10 minutes. The sandwich was a good size...but there wasnt much on it. Skimpy sauce, skinpy onion & skinpy blue cheese...overall not really a good value for the $16 paid. Wife had the chicken club...itcwas sized good, but she said it was really dry. My biggest beef is on the fries....there are 2 sizes available...$6.50 & enough for 2 people...& $8.50 serving 3-4 people....Sooooo if you are dining solo...you still pay the $6.50 for way to many fries....why cant there be a combo with a sandwich purchase? It really seems like price gouging...the shop pockets the $6.50 either way & food gets wasted if one person cant eat that much....I'm going to start making more food at home...these overpriced shops can just close.... read more

Not only is this place close to the office but it's always my go to, when I need a good BBQ Try-Tip Sandwich fix ! Plus, I order a side of Jack fries. If you don't know about those, let me school you for just a moment. So these taste just like McDonald's fries except they are jazzed up with chili oil, chili flakes , blue cheese crumbles , blue cheese dressing and chopped parsley for garnish. IYKYK and if you don't well.... You ought to ! This is definitely a big sandwich , the fires you can share. Almost removed three stars but the overall flavor of the food combined with good service saved them. The meat combo plate is very good. Nice portion, hot and fresh, and combined with the tomato soup (why does every tomato soup taste like the one you get in the bin at Safeway?) it makes for a complete lunch. The Cobb salad was the harder item to dissect. The dressing was good, plenty of variety in the salad but the Salmon that came on top was so small. It seemed to be about 4 ounces max which ends up being not enuf to eat. It was also not warm and not that juicy so maybe it was cooked earlier and put on top to handle the lunch rush? Luckily the soup rounded out the meal. Another strange point was no bread was served (not even just a slice) with salad or soup. It was my first time so i don't know if that is be design or just an oversight. Lastly, my co-worker wanted to get a burger for lunch. This place has a grill, makes good hot meats like the tri tip, but does not offer a burger. How does that work? Been going to Jacks for over 20 years, but had not been to the Golden center lane location before. What an awful experience! The food was terrible. There was a dark, Lima bean size object in my mashed potatoes and the cheese bread was as flat as a pancake and dry from sitting in the air for a very long while. The turkey was ok, but what a huge disappointment. It was slow as it was around 2pm, the kids were all chatting. No meat was out the young man gathered my turkey from the back area and brought it out in his hands, no plate. Kids will be kids I guess but someone there should be exerting some sort of management. Which takes me to "Jack's Urban Eats", a very popular place to get an excellent fresh salad with locations all over the Sacramento region to serve you. In this case, I am reviewing the Gold River/Rancho Cordova location. This particular restaurant is at the Gold River Town Center directly off of Sunrise Blvd and adjacent to Golden Centre Lane surrounding many other restaurants, shopping, and retail stores. On any given day (depending what time you arrive), parking can sometimes be a challenge. But much of this area is spread out where I've never had any issues. This easiest way to find this Jack's Urban Eats is that it neighbors Blaze Pizza and directly across from a Raley's. I came here during the afternoon of Friday 11/25/2022 at around 2:15pm. Since I was very hungry, I decided on ordering two items off of their extensive menu, the "Greek Chicken Salad" and their "Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich". The ordering process here is identical to all of the other locations where you place your order at the counter. They provide you with a number and your drink cup and proceed to wherever you choose to sit. The inside of this place is well laid out but it is a bit on the darker side. Probably because it was a gloomy fall day which definitely didn't help. Once both my salad and sandwich arrived, they definitely did not skimp on the portions. My Green salad was loaded with seasoned white chicken which was tender, moist, and juicy. And my sandwich also hit the spot as the chicken in it was similar to that of my salad as well as a generous amount of mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes on a soft French roll. For both of these items being in the $9-11 range, the price itself isn't all that bad. I also took the other half of my sandwich home and enjoyed that as an evening snack. With that said and done, I am giving the Gold River "Jack's Urban Eats" an above average four-star rating. read more

We stopped by to refuel after a pickleball tournament and Jack's Urban Easts did well... You order at the counter, the staff provides you a table number and they bring your dishes out to you. The staff was friendly and the kitchen was quick with getting our orders to our party of 6 Garlic Fries - Fries were crisp, garlic flavor was strong but not overwhelming. Definitely order if you enjoy Garlic Fries like I do. California Cheese Steak - Tasty beef on fresh bread. The sandwich came as described on the menu but I was hoping for a little more beef with this sandwich. Those who ordered salads in the group were happy with the freshness of the salads and dressing. Overall the chicken sandwiches were tasty and the SW chicken salad was also plentiful and well made. Sandwich build and proportions were good and the slaw and breading were crispy and fresh. I got takeout from here. I was presently surprised with my salad but not overly impressed. I thought it was a little over priced and they didn't have a good protein source already including in the price. Not cool. Portions on fries was a tad skimpy.
