I like supporting local businesses, but my experience here was "meh". Hard to find location, small underwhelming old interior, service that seemed disinterested and beer that was just OK. Tried a flight of beers that I felt tasted more like home brew. No food, other than snacks. They did allow our dog inside, which given the heat outside was a blessing, so kudos for that. I intend to try it again to make sure I just didn't catch them on a bad day. read more

Found this gem of a brewery on an over night trip to Rancho Cordova. It's in an industrial complex and we first thought we were going the wrong direction but SIRI did not disappoint. It's a open warehouse with roll up doors. Seating inside and out in courtyard with misters for the warmer days. They are KIDS and DOG friendly. They do beer and seltzer and nothing more, that said, they do bring in food trucks. The afternoon we stopped by there was an amazing taco truck "Bibis Enchilada & Grill". They also have live music. I'm not a beer drinker but hubby really enjoyed their Tropic Sour and I liked the seltzer slushies they made. You also can purchase beers to go. We got a 4 pack. The staff was extremely friendly. One of the best IPA selections I've had for quite a while. They had something like seven of them on the board including the doubles, and so I had a flight of four. Every one was a very well-made beer that I would be happy to buy draft or in a can. We ordered pizza from a nearby pizzeria at the suggestion of the barkeep. There are food trucks but not when we were there. Just before we left a truck with a full size pizza oven appeared. Large sitting area in by the tanks if you want to have a group, or a cute bar area where you can talk with the servers and check out the beers as you drink. We were out in the neighborhood tile shopping, but we're lucky enough to land when they had a Lowrider car show for Halloween. The cars are great and the little fiesta they set up was fun. read more

Calimstake is a local and hidden gem in the Rancho Cordova district of the Sacramento Region. Located in a industrial building complex- you will find this gem. While there is not much to show for street appeal; as you enter you are welcomed by the hosts where you can sample beers, and purchase beers for pleasure. Because I am trying to live a Gluten-Free life due to nutritional sensitivities; I opted to give their Fruit Punch Seltzer Slushy and their seltzer a try. Both were impressive and perfect for a hot day. The reason my friend and I came that day was to see Willy Tea Taylor and the Turkey Buzzards- afterall live music is life. CSB has a pretty sweet outside area just off to the side of their brewing room. It was here in this space that the live music ticketed event was held. A separate outside bar for convenience. The other side of the brewing room also hosted some bites such as pizza and wings. I opted to not eat while I was present, and chose to invest in liquid calories. Will definitely be coming back with my beer- loving-amigos and to enjoy some more of the setlzer slushes read more

Hi-ya! I enjoy Claimstake, the beer selections are decent (I like IPAs) and they have a double and a ha duck of others that are tasty. Currently they have 2 stouts (a vanilla and non-) both I heard from a friend were good. The beertenders are friendly and cool. Good service, clean and the crowd there is relaxed. I haven't ever tried the food, but the sitting area is relaxed. Anyway, I've been checking out breweries more often then not these days as more folks are getting vaccinated and restrictions are lightening. Check it out and try the Hopulous! :) read more

Popular for their beers... but the wood oven pizzas did it for me! I have not heard of this establishment until a few friends suggested we meet here for some beer and eats. Okay, so I don't drink beer but count me in for the food so about a dozen of us gathered here and one of us was able to secure a section for our group. As I entered the brewery there were people everywhere and thought that the place was really small. Immediately as you walk in the door is the bar area, our table was on the right side. It was somewhat in an enclosed area with a long picnic table. The place was a bit hot inside with all the bodies. It was super crowded this Friday evening as I suspect it always is given how popular the place is. Our friend ordered pizzas, she ordered three different ones but I was only able to sample two of them. Pizza is not my favorite food but the ones I had was amazingly delicious! The pizzas were hot and fresh out of the oven. The Pepperoni Mozzarella was yummy... then I tried the steak pizza. Hmm, steak on pizza? I've never heard of such a thing (but then again I'm not too fond of pizzas). I'm not sure if it had a proper name but it included grilled tri-tip, roasted red potatoes, mushrooms, caramelized onions and demi-glaze white truffle oil. Wow, yummy, a flavor sensation in every bite! This pizza is gonna make me come back soon... When I wanted to use the restroom to wash my hands I was directed to the back, past the bar and into another section of the brewery and, whoa, the area in back had a lot more seating and felt much cooler because of its spaciousness. The brewery is literally a hidden gem. I almost didn't find a parking spot. As I circled back to make another attempt someone had just pulled out of a spot right across Claimstake. Score! Big wins here...kid friendly, which is not our favorite thing but it looked as though there was a conscious effort to keep families with kids and those without in separate rooms -- THAT I can embrace! Only drawback -- whomever is their food truck/provider is...well, to put it bluntly, kind of a dick. He tells my girlfriend oh sure, we can make this Vegan and proceeds to prepare the order with bacon, then remarking "hey, there's so many diets out there I can't keep track..." This, after complaining they were not in their usual location -- and when asked why--in an effort to commiserate/strike up converse--responding snarkily "because it's raining (duh!)"....yeah, okay, thanks man. This place was in the process of opening when we still lived in Rancho Cordova with a few hiccups in regards to the name so it didn't open until after we moved so we have to make this a trip up. The place is nice and small and quaint. The beer tenders are really nice and knowledgeable. I liked the coziness of this place and its nice that they have a good food truck lineup on the weekends. There is also plenty of parking no the weekends which is nice. The beer is tasty and a has something pretty much for anyone. I haven't taken notes out the beer for awhile so these are a little out of date (Per: Sept 2018 notes) Berlin Kid (Berliner Weiss with Hawaiian Punch)- pretty good, kind sweet, not really my style but lots of people like it The Woodbury (American Blonde)- Light, easy to drink but not a lot of flavor which isn't unusual for a blonde, but that's why I'm not a huge fan of blondes Flut 18 (IPA with mandarins Bavarian)- pretty bitter, definitely not a style I enjoy but you might? Prospector Roy (IPA)- pretty tasty IPA, somewhat bitter but not overly Happy Camper (Hazy Pale)- pretty tasty, really good and one of my favorite of all the beers here, try it, you'll like it! 15th & IPA- Pretty good IPA, well balanced, not overly bitter and not overly hoppy J Tucker- yum, easy drinking beer with good flavor Old Man McCray- sorry, cant do it, not a fan at all haha Overall, nice place with a good variety of beer. Hidden gem of a brewery right in the middle of a industrial commercial complex. Picked up the rye-churro which tastes like a barley wine/porter aged in rye whiskey barrels. The 13% abv is hidden well behind the sweetness. Basically dessert in a glass. The folks here were welcome and diverse. Lisa behind the bar has welcoming vibes. Great indoor and outdoor space to hang out, there's a separate projector room if you wanted to watch a football/basketball game here. I was meeting a group of friends one afternoon. This location of the brewery is a hidden secret behind Sunrise and several companies that have been set up in buildings that resemble garages? Maybe the lease is less expensive but location visibility is questionable. Although, I was questionaing the location, this place os really worth it! Omg this place makes the Bomb pizza! DELICIOUS STUFF!!! We also had some garlicky clams that were just as good I am not so much a beer drinker but I did try the lightest one on the chalkboard. I forgot the name but it tasted like PEACHES! No joke! My friends were downing these super dark ales that I know probably would not sit well with me. This was our first time coming here and let me tell you.. It was diffidently worth it! From the very start the two bartenders were very nice and welcoming. They had really good beers on tap. If you love IPA's, sours, or anything. :D This is a cool/chill spot to check out for our local beer drinkers! I tried the first beer on tap which was the "Thon Song" it's a sour and usually I'm not a big fan of sour beers, but the description of the beer really intimidated me to try it. It was actually very tasty and refreshing. You can diffidently taste the strawberry and a hint of lemonade. Another good beer we tried was the "Marathon Juice". If you're a fan of Hazy's this is really smooth, easy to drink and it's 8% can't go wrong with that! Another cool thing that I like about this spot is they offer 5oz pours for only $2.00. I think that's an awesome deal for people that like to drink a little slower, that way the beer doesn't get warm fast and you get to try as many different beers you like. The staff were very kind enough to let us taste a few different beers on tap before choosing which ones we actually wanted. They also have an inside bar area where you can hang out up front. They have a separate room off to the side with a long table that seats maybe 10 -15 guests. They also have another room which is a lot bigger for parties or if you have a larger group. We had a BLAST!! We came for a friends birthday and brought all the kids. There is a place set up for them to play with toys, coloring and building blocks! So much fun. The kids loved it. There was corn hole set up in the back, couches, high and low tables. There was a ton of room and you didn't feel like you had to sit on top of strangers. It was a very fun atmosphere! We ordered pizza from the menu at the bar that ended up being "Go 4 PIZZA" which was REALLY good! They brought us the wrong pizza, I called and they brought out a whole new pizza! This brewery has it all: great beer, great vibe, pizza and service with a smile. My husband is the beer drinker in the family, even so, I love Claimstake. They always are brewing new beers, and odd as it sounds, even though I don't really drink much beer, I love to taste the different beers. AND, they have a beer called Berlin Kid, which is a very light beer that they flavor with syrup (I've tried the raspberry and Woodruff syrups), so instead of just sipping my bottled water or taking a taste of husband's beer like I do at other breweries, I can have a glass of beer, too! It is mild enough to suit my tastebuds quite well. But don't worry, if you want heavy hoppy brew, they have that, too. The brewery is small, so it is cozy, and sometimes can get a bit loud. The brewery really has two sections, the bar area and then the warehouse area in the back, so you can slip away from the crowd in the bar if you want a little quieter place to sip your beer. Hungry? They have partnered with a vendor who offers wood-fired pizza, and a few other menu items as well. This place has awesome reviews, which is why I was disappointed when we went there. We were there last Sunday for Mother's Day about 30 minutes before the concert was about to start so we could get food and a spot to sit. It was empty. Like it was just us and a family with 4 kids. The reviews about the poor customer service was accurate. We really felt like we were not wanted there. When we ordered our drinks, the bartender was rude and didn't know what to suggest to us for our flight when we told her we liked IPAs. The beer was not very good. We were told to take a photo of the menu so we could identify which beer was which in our flight. I love a good IPA but there was not one from our flight of 10 tastes that I would order from a bar or pick up at a store or drink for free. One beer smelled like maple sausage. Haha I didn't know how I felt about it. I want to say it was "Poremba Punch" if anyone wants to give it a try. Anyway, we left before we could try the pizza out front. Having heard of Claimstake for quite some time, the wife and I had the perfect opportunity to try them out with our dog in tow on a recent sunny afternoon. The layout is impressive, with a main bar opening up to a spacious back area with numerous communal and round tables surrounded by all the brewing equipment. There's even a kids area immediately to the left upon entering. The bartenders were super welcoming and gracious in letting me try pretty much all the IPAs on draft before deciding on one. Every beer can be had in a surprising number of sizes: 5 oz, 13 oz and 16 oz. Crowler fills of everything are available too. Great balance and flavor in each brew I had, with the current hazy offering and Prospector Roy IPA being particularly tasty. And arguably the best part? Claimstake's partnered with a local caterer whose pizza oven and setup are right outside the brewery! Along with a small selection of sandwiches and hot dogs, the American-style pizzas are quite solid and a perfect pairing to the beers. read more

Decided to stop by on way home yesterday to check at this pretty new and exciting tap room. The place is pretty easy to find in Rancho Cordova off of Sunrise Blvd. It is located in an industrial area. It has a Private lot for parking. They just so happen to be serving an awesome East Coast style IPA - the hazy kind. Very unique style of IPA compared to our more widely known West Coast style. My favorite of their beers was the Johnny Haze Hazy IPA 6.5% 55 IBU's - Inspired IPA brewed in honor of hops to table founder John Zervas - using Hops of Summer, Amarillo, and Simcoe. Very nice hop notes and an even better taste made this a very drinkable beer. All the guys there were having it and seemed to enjoy at much as me. I tried an awesome BIG beer stout that was delicious too. They had a Lager he described as a Colt 45 malt liquor that has been HOPPED up. It came in at around 8% so its not your daddy's Lager. A total of 8 taps - definitely something you'll like. 3 IPAs, 2 Stouts, Lager, and a couple of other's that I can't seem to remember. I hear he is always changing up his tap list and is really creative. A new IIPA is being released soon based on the above mentioned Johnny Haze. I can't wait! They had a pizza vendor in house with one of them Fire pits to do his magic with. The margarita pizza was my choice. It was really good. No TV's or WiFi - they actually encourage socialization. Wow! I am so glad we found this spot. We wanted to meet a friend for dinner and he suggested we come here. I'm always up for something new so we did. I have to say, as we pulled up I was not sure we were in the right place. It's in an odd spot and the parking was a little rough. Once we got in, I was like "this place is sooooo small!" But I was wrong. It is designed in a big circle and there is plenty of seating around the brewery. The actual bar had quite a few different beers to try. The pricing was excellent and I liked that they offered many different sizes so you could try many things without getting drunk, or just drink a big one of your favorite. There was a little something for every palette. The girls are the bar were helpful and kind, and we met the owner as well. He's very dedicated and was right in there helping keep things clean and customers satisfied. I love when owners are present in their business regularly. That's huge. The food situation is an outdoor setup and the guy is not technically part of the brewery, but they have a symbiotic relationship. I can definitely see why!!!! We ordered a pizza and a burger. It was seriously one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time! The burger was good too, but it got cooked at the same time as a fish item and I could taste the fishy flavor essence. I was ok with it even though I hate fish because i was starving, but for my boyfriend that was too much to enjoy the burger. We want to come back next time we come to town for sure!
