I have been a loyal supporter of this business establishment and neighborhood staple pizzeria for many moons. When I first visited this restaurant, a young enjoyer of Italian cuisine, I was captivated by the delicious slices and bubbly fountain drinks that were provided to me. As the years progressed, I noticed a slow decline in the quality of each slice at each visit: floppy slices, cold tomato sauce, wet undercarage, etc. However, as a loyal supporter of this business, I maintained hope that the quality would return to its golden days. Alas, it did not. On November 21, 2023, I write with a sorrowful heart. Today began like any other. I arose to my 7:22 alarm, stepped into a warm yet steamy shower, brushed my teeth, put on an immaculate fit, ate a bowl of cereal, and headed to school. The school day began with an hour and fifteen minutes of calculus, followed by another hour and fifteen minutes of Spanish. After those academic periods, me and my peers listened in on a presentation on investigative journalism. Needless to say, my brain was feeling scrambled. Me and my two colleagues, whose names will remain anonymous for their own protection and privacy, agreed that pizza would be needed to finish out the day on a high note, so we made our way to Da Nonna Rosa. When we stepped inside the black awning of the building, my expectations for this formerly grand establishment were already low, due to aforementioned reasons. I opened the fridge and grabbed a tasteful San Pellegrino soda, I then proceeded to the counter where my order was taken. I stated, "Can I get two plains?" The response was, "Yes." My associates ordered 1 more plain slice and 3 pepperoni slices in total. After we ordered and payed (3.50 for a plain slice!?), the woman working at the register said something along the lines of: you can sit down and we will bring (the pizza) out to you. So we sat down, as any reasonable group of people would, and waited for our food to be brought to us. After 3 minutes the food had in fact, not been brought out. Now, remember that this is precooked pizza that we're talking about, so it shouldn't take more than 2 minutes to heat up. After 10 minutes, a few classmates in a third party entered the eating space with many slices of their own. This raised a multitude of eyebrows: How is it possible that a group that came in after is received their pizza before us? I went back to the counter to clear up what was beginning to be a sticky situation. I asked the woman at the counter what it happened to our pizza, and if it was possible that the third party had taken what was rightfully ours. The woman denied the allegations of wrongful pizza accounting, but promised to get our slices ready right away. She once again asked for the specifics of my groups order and I stated that we ordered three plains and three pepperonis in total. I sat back down and waited, this time in a somewhat frustrated manner. After 5 more painful minutes of waiting, the sticky situation got much stickier as our pizza has still not arrived. I went back to the counter to investigate, once again asking the woman if there had been a mistake. She countered my question by offering up three slightly burnt slices of pepperoni pizza. But where were the plains? Where were the fucking plains?!! "What about the plain slices?" I say. She says something like: Oh yeah sorry about that. Sorry about what? Your lack of competence perhaps? Or maybe your short term memory loss? Either way, time was beginning to be off the essence, as we had classes to attend. So, I decided to count my losses, and eat an uncooked slice of plain pizza. This slice was not good to say the least. Absolutely a waste of 7 dollars. That money could have been donated to charity, helping impoverished children across the globe, maybe putting clothes onto homeless people's backs, or food in people's mouths. But instead it was spent on a cold, soggy, unpleasant slice of what one might call "pizza". To Da Nonna Rosa, I which our relationship did not have to end this way, but enough is enough. When one does not put in the effort to make something work, simply put, it will not work. In the future I will be taking by business elsewhere, to locations such as Numero 28, Emmy squared, Pinos, Joes, Smiling, Roma, and many more. Once a titan of the quick, cheap, and just good enough pizza industry, the star of Da Nonna Rosa has fallen, serving expensive, untimely, and most of all poor quality pizza. One star. Was looking for a quick pizza delivery one Friday night (kind of late). Da Nonna Rosa was the perfect pizza night fix. We ordered a margarita square pie, a Caesar salad and garlic knots. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The delivery was quick and easy - not much waiting and no calls necessary! I usually order through seamless but I may begin ordering this through Yelp more often! I was in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn and stumbled upon this pizzeria. Let me just say that the food is up to par. I had a ravioli/ ricotta cheese slice and a Margherita square. When I ordered they refused to honor the menu prices claiming they were "closing" even thought they were still open for another hour. Apparently they don't understand or don't have desire to update the menu, so instead they make up excuses to the delivery vendor not to fulfill the orders. My family and I were greeted very kindly at the door and was advised to pick any seat we would like My mom has diverticulitis and Paul went over and beyond to accommodate my mom to ensure there weren't any seeds in any of her meals. In fact , we had no idea the rice balls had seeds, Paul was nice enough to bring her bread with fresh ricotta so she wouldn't feel left out I ordered the grilled octopus which came with a delicious side salad and my mom ordered filet oreganata which wasn't even on the menu , but once again she was accommodated . All the apps and meals came out in a timely fashion . At no point in time did we feel rushed and I can truly say it was so wonderful to spend quality time with family during these tough times. I went there with a party of 12. The food was good but rather average. The staff was very polite and attentive, so, no issue there at all. However, there were several errors made when they brought the food to the table. One plate was made with the incorrect pasta (not a huge deal) but on three others, they forgot to put the protein in it all together (two were supposed to have shrimp and one chicken). They did take the dishes back and it only took about 5 minutes to correct. read more

When moving to a new apartment, you have to find a great pizza place. We set out to find our "go to" pizza place and stumbled upon Da Nonna Rosa pretty quickly. We've gotten delivery a handful of times and each time, it arrives quickly and piping hot. This place is so good that when a family member made the trip into our neighborhood to see our apartment, we took them here for lunch. I really love the traditional rectangle pie. It is cheesy deliciousness covered in garlic and basil. The crust is very crisp and holds up well for delivery. It was pretty oily though so keep the napkins close. The meatballs are really big and generously sauced. I definitely will get them in the future. The baked ziti was covered in delicious cheese and the sauce was nice but the pasta itself was overcooked and fell to pieces when trying to pick it up (which happens to a lot of ziti, just makes it a bit difficult to eat). I would love to try some of their other pasta dishes in the future. They have a lot of varieties that sound delish. So far, we have only eaten in house once. It was a really friendly restaurant and everyone greeted us when we entered and said goodbye when we left. Servers were excellent and very attentive. It has a large back room to eat in which filled up with families for saturday lunch. It was a bit of carb overload with bread served before pizza. Maybe everyone's a better person than I am and weren't ordering because of the blizzard. The food was delicious. I really loved the neopolitan pizza- super crisp and thin crusted, which I'm normally not a fan of, but it was seriously good. The pasta was pretty good. Not the best I ever had, but for $9 ($12 with meatballs) lunch special, I was happy. My only issue is I ordered the nonna pizza and they changed it to the neopolitan without calling me or asking first which was really rude. Ordered delivery from here tonight directly through their website. It took just under 2 hours to receive the food, which is inexcusable. The Greek salad was totally average. The garlic knots were pretty good. The gnocchi caprese was off and I had to throw it out--both the mozzarella and the gnocchi itself tasted kind of rotten. We paid $2 extra for homemade pasta (cavatelli and fusilli, pomodoro and funghi) and both were mushy. Honestly the consistency was like gnocchi. Pasta should definitely NOT be mushy. They didn't provide any grated parm and the pomodoro was kinda blah so that was disappointing. The funghi sauce was decent but nobody wants to eat mushy pasta. I absolutely love their cheese pizza. Hands down my favorite in the area. The cheese to sauce ratio is perfect and the crust is just thick enough to fold in half and not be too crunchy or too soggy. I always appreciated there pizza, the Nonna slice is a nice bite of thin crust with melted cheese and herby sauce. For dinner I had linguine Alla Rosa. It was a healthy portion of; chicken, sausage, baby spinach and fresh mozzarella melted in a creamy pink sauce. It was as good as it sounds, with melty mozzarella adherent to every fork full of pasta. I am always impressed with the service and selection at this place.
