When we came here a few months ago the bartender, Neil, was very friendly and welcoming. He showed us fantastic hospitality and let us know that they're hoping this would be a nice place for the locals to come with live music and yard games during the summer. He gave us coupons in hopes of a return visit and we talked this place up to several of our friends. When we returned last night it's like the place completely changed. What was a clean, sparkling, new place has turned into somewhat of a disappointment. I could go on and on about all of the negatives, but the bottom line is this isn't the same place it was a few months ago. Perhaps with better training for the staff on consistency and quality control on the beverages this could be a cool place to go to.

Being brand spanking new (never really understood that expression, does being new deserve corporal punishment?) is a plus for the decor and a reason to understand the employees are getting used to things. A couple of hotel ownership changes ago this place was pretty popular among area workers looking for a lunch break but it's pretty underused right now. Tuesday there's a great lunch special, $3 "Build a Burger" which really just means you can order a hamburger with various toppings and condiments and it comes with chips. I got fries instead with no upcharge. I don't know who started this "build-a-burger" phrase but I don't think it sounds very appealing. It sounds like construction work, and I'm not well suited for that sort of hard labor. Anyway, that's quite the bargain, the burger was pretty good and I was the only customer. There were no YELP reviews of this place, but on Trip Advisor someone said that they didn't like the "costumer service" here. I think if you wear a costume to a restaurant, you're not really entitled to being taken seriously, though I suppose it depends on the costume. Service is fine (though I did not wear a costume), the food quality is pretty good hotel bar food, parking is easy and you could do a lot worse around here.

It came with one large cabbage roll, two scoops of mashed potatoes, three cheese pierogi and fried cabbage. Everything was kind of one note and definitely needed salt and pepper at the very least. I thought the fried cabbage was unique. It was similar to sauerkraut in flavor, which I would have loved, but wasn't acidic enough for me. The sauce on the cabbage roll was the same as what was in the potatoes- which was fine because they were dry. But it meant the two main components of the dish were not very different in flavor. The cabbage roll was huge and stuffed to the brim. At first I wasn't sure it would be enough, but one is all you need to feel full at the end of the meal. Like I said, it was hearty, and there was a little sauce, but could have used more sauce or something because it tasted a little dry to me. My companions both ordered the sampler plate and didn't have the same issues. It was, however, a lot of food and they both had leftovers enough for another meal. The service was great, especially for as busy as it was. Our waitress was running ragged but managed to keep our drinks topped up and check in on us. She was a super star. I really liked the fresh interior, it's less chaotic than the old Applebees decor. It felt welcoming and comfortable. I would definitely come back. The restaurant is still new-ish and will probably go through a few changes as they get a feel for the traffic. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other menu offerings soon!

We shared a Sampler Plate on Valentine's Day, forty people in the place 45 minutes after opening at 3:00! Great food, service, ambiance, price. While the dedication to Pork is very Polish, an occasional chicken dish (Kurczak w Sosie Pieczarkowym-chicken in mushroom sauce?) might be helpful for some of us who are not allowed to eat meats high in Potassium. I found the place on the map behind the bar from which four of my great-grandparents emigrated. Nice touch!

It was crazy busy and I ended up "making my own parking space". Beyond pool on Friday nights they have poker night which was drawing a huge crowd. There were tons of tables of people playing poker - way more than people playing pool. I met my friend out and their friends so they had already settled into a margarita Patron tree which was so adorable. We opted to get the large pizza and it was a decent medium crust. The crust is from scratch so points for that as well as the ample toppings. I thought the prices were a bit on the high side especially since they are on the south side and not downtown. I thought that $30 for a pizza was a little much and a cocktail at $10.50 was more expensive than places by my house close to the city. Service can be spotty but once we got our waitress she was very pleasant and kept coming back to check on us. We did have the bean dip with chips and I have to say that was favorite part of the meal. It was definitely worth coming back for the dip!
