Gosh I have not been to this place in eons. When I pulled up I thought they were giving away stuff because the parking lot was packed. It was crazy busy and I ended up "making my own parking space". Beyond pool on Friday nights they have poker night which was drawing a huge crowd. There were tons of tables of people playing poker - way more than people playing pool. I met my friend out and their friends so they had already settled into a margarita Patron tree which was so adorable. We opted to get the large pizza and it was a decent medium crust. The crust is from scratch so points for that as well as the ample toppings. I thought the prices were a bit on the high side especially since they are on the south side and not downtown. I thought that $30 for a pizza was a little much and a cocktail at $10.50 was more expensive than places by my house close to the city. Service can be spotty but once we got our waitress she was very pleasant and kept coming back to check on us. We did have the bean dip with chips and I have to say that was favorite part of the meal. Years ago I used to go to Coney Island on 6th and National. Although I lived in Oak Creek I would still get my take out chili and hot dog from ConeyIsland on my way home fro working downtown. I was so glad when I read that Romaine's had purchased the owner of Coney Island, Chris's family secret recipe. I finally made a special trip to try Romaine's chili aka Coney Island chili. I ordered. 16 Oz for $5.29. The container was 3/4 full. Did not come close to the Coney Island chili. It looked like a watered down chiliwith no taste. This is a south side staple and reminds me of my childhood. (Went for Mexican food here often) However, literally nothing has changed except the unusually high drink prices and quality of food. Granted it was a Monday evening and it was $5 all you can play pool, a double Jim Beam and ginger beer was $13! You can literally go to 5 bars within a mile radius and pay close to half of that. A Miller Genuine Draft was $5.50! 2030 called and they want their prices back. The first cocktail did not even have whiskey in it (taste tested by three total people to verify) but was told "The system won't let us pour it unless we ring it in so it is in there". It wasn't or it surely wasn't a double. The color didn't even match the second one I had ordered. With that said, the bartenders were insanely professional and polite. Mozzarella sticks and pretzel sticks were ordered. It's kind of difficult to mess that up. The mozzarella sticks were clearly freezer burnt, were soggy, and tasted like cardboard. The cheese for the over cooked pretzel sticks was literally cold. Eat before you go to Romines . This would be a two star review if it wasn't for their bartending staff's and being one of the only remaining pool halls around. read more

For years now people have been telling me that I have to go here because the food is so good so I stopped by for lunch today. The place is kind of cool because it's a pool hall restaurant and a bar which is spaced out nicely on various levels creating multiple cozy spots. I knew I was going to try the famous Milwaukee Coney Island hot dog that they bought the recipe, the place closed before I could get over to it to try one and one Mexican item from the al a carte menu the pork burrito. I passed on the chips and salsa that came to my table so I could finish my food, had I had known the burrito is super small I would have had them. My lunch came quick and the first thing I tried was the Coney Island hot dog. My first thought was how the hot dog was a cheap dog and tasted like an Oscar Meyer smoked dog, not even a good snappy dog was used. Overall it was ok and nothing special and the chili is not like traditional chili and more a hot dog sauce. My pork burrito looked sad as well because it was the size of an enchilada with a big mound of lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream to make it look bigger. The pork was tender/moist in a kind of gravy that didn't have any Mexican flavors at all, this is super average Americanized Mexican food that I could have made at home. The food is so super average that I could have made at home but with more flavor so I don't understand all the recommendations and disappointing, dam I could have used a good bookmark for lunch today. read more

We used Romine's/Senor Loco for a graduation party this past weekend. When we went to pick up the order which was placed over the phone, the cost of the food was $300 more than what their catering menu showed online. The owner of the restaurant Niki Romine refused to adjust our bill stating "the website is being redone". Despite talking with their staff twice to plan out our event, it was never shared with us that all of the catering prices online were incorrect. It is very unfortunate as the food was great, but customer service is horrible. I will always spread the word to never use this restaurant due to poor business practices. I went to Romine's Friday evening. I got to the bar and was not greeted by the bartender standing directly in front of me as I sat down. After about 10 minutes, I asked the lady if I could order a Tequila sunrise. The glass was significantly thin and filled to the brim with ice. I asked the bartender if I could order some food. The bartender could not take to my food order and said she would get a waitress to take my order. It took the bartender 5 minutes to find a waitress, and it took the waitress 15 additional minutes to get to me at the bar to take my order. Did not like the food. Only one salsa offered and for me it was too hot. The server offered me tomato sauce and I asked for cilantro and onion to make it my own. Yuck. Quesadilla wasn't too bad. Food was dry. Choose enchilada and no sauce. Covered in yellow cheese (greasey). Rice tasted buttery and the refried beans tasted like cigarettes (former smoker). Plus they charged me $1.50 for sour cream and $.50 for a soda refill. Would not recommend. However there must be plenty of people who like it, the place was filling up. read more

We went today for lunch because we were in the area and I had a taste for the Coney Island hotdogs. The sign says to seat ourselves which we did. There was only one waitress and she was very slow. We got our food pretty quick (my hotdogs were cold) but she never once checked on us and we had to wait a good 25 minutes for the check. There were two tables besides us. One was there before us and the other after us. The place looks really run down. Every booth had a tear in the seat. I met a friend here to shoot some pool on my day off and grab lunch. I have always heard of this place but had never been. I do enjoy playing pool even though I am not particularly great at it. So I thought what a fun afternoon to go hang out and eat, drink and shoot some pool. What a fun place. I kind of thought it was like an adult Playland. They had a ton of pool tables the place is enormous. I also saw some video games and an area to throw darts. They have 8 foot tables and 9 foot tables that you rent by the hour. They also offer some 7 1/2 foot tables that you can play with quarters. There also is a Mexican restaurant called taco Loco inside the establishment. I was thrilled since I love Mexican food and couldn't wait to order. They offer different specials during the course of the week on both food and drink. We ordered a couple of cocktails some appetizers and lunch and I thought everything was great! I will definitely be back. I had a ton of fun with my friend that day hanging out and shooting pool. They said last call, so we got a drink for last call and five minutes later they took my drank and literally threw it out then they told us they were closed (when the hours said they were still open) and locked the door behind us into the cold weather. I ordered an Ice Tea and was given a refill on the servers first check up on the meal after being served. After presenting the bill, the server took off and was never seen again at all, we had to ask another server for water and I decided the Ice Tea was not worth the wait. What a fun place to spend time! Tons of 8 & 9 foot tables, plus snooker and carom (a table with no pockets!). They have really good specials and if you're over 55, you can hang out here all day for $5.00! The tables and house cues are well maintained. There is a full service bar in the center and a decent Mexican restaurant to get a bite to eat. Many, many tv's including a huge projection screen for watching PPV fights. This place is hard to find but it is well worth the search for people interested in full and they have a banquet area in addition to many seating restaurant and bar activities in this location. I have been a patron for about 15 years, off and on. The best thing about the restaurant is the chips and salsa with the complimentary beans and carrot/onion mix. The chips are just like Little Cancun's but much greasier. Definitely good though, but always followed up by antacids. That's the only thing that has been consistently good over the years. It's hit or miss with entrees. I have had experiences where I swear I will never go back because the service and food was less than mediocre; but then I crave the chips and salsa so I go back. The bar makes a terrible whiskey old fashioned, would not recommend at all. The original margaritas aren't very good either. I discovered this place last weekend and was impressed! They have good food and the drinks are very reasonably priced. I loved the atmosphere here. They also have awesome staff members who were all very friendly. The bartenders were very attentive and professional not like at some bars where you have to almost beg to be served. The billiards tables are top notch and they offer various sized tables so you can play the game of your choice. They even had a Snooker table! Which is extremely rare outside of Europe. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a fun night out. Did I mention its huge inside, so you can definitely find a more intimate spot to hang or social distance if thats what you're into. Also, kids are allowed until 9 or 10pm. read more

Before our smoking ban i would have given Romines a 2 star. It was really unbearable in that place with the amount of smoke that was swirling around in the air sticking to all types of clothing the patrons had on. Now that the smoking ban is in place and there is no smoking on the inside i appreciate the space much more. The food selection here is a little confusing. There is a full Mexican Restaurant housed inside of Romines and Romines also carrys their own food service? It even harder to tell because the waitstaff are all over the place. The food is average. Please don't walk in expecting gourmet or exceptional waiter service. Nope not here. I wont give a review about the pool hall (sorry) i don't frequent the pool table, but make no mistake i can crack a full set with the best of them. I was here this time and every time to watch the UFC fight. There are multiple TVs in the place when the fight is on so there is not a problem with catching a good view. There are two huge projection screens in the middle of the establishment so this is a plus as well. The parking lot is usually packed to capacity on nights when the UFC is showing fights so get here early and get you a spot. One of the better point is that security is enforced at the door and they scan your id. The diversity factor is high. All walks of life can be seen in this bar. I appreciate that. I will go again, again, and again... as long as UFC is on or i get my pool game up! read more

I have been here many times but not in the last 3 years. I went with my girlfriend on Friday night to play some pool. We had dinner and that was good. The only problem was the credit card machine was down. The did get it working and everything worked out. The problem came when we first walked in. We were told there was a $10 cover charge because of a pay per view fight that was on. I told them we were there to play pool. It didn't make a difference. They would only take cash, no cards. I was not happy about it but that is fine. The problem came after we paid. They wanted to scan both our IDs. I asked why and they said if a fight happens they have ID to go off of. I went ahead and did this. Then I question management about it and they just said that is what we do. They did not have anything in writing on what their reason for this was. They had not answer about how they date is secured, who all sees it is or anything along those lines. With identity theft on the rise this seems like a risky practice for a business to do with procedures setup. I am not saying they are doing anything with the date but anyone could possible get that information. I will not longer be going there or any other place that would have these practices. They should have a copy to had out to people explain what is going on and what steps they take to protect my information. If someones ID would be compromised and they have been there. I believe Romine's would have left themselves open to a big legal problem. They are other places to play pool and get something to eat. It is up to you but I'm not risking my ID being stolen or any of my friends or business associates. read more

An average score for an average place. The bartenders ignore you and act like they would rather be elsewhere and right when you get frustrated with the service they arrive to fill your glass. My bartender seemed annoyed that I actually wanted food with my drink. She yelled for a waiter to come and take my order because that kind of thing was too much for her, apparently. The food was satisfying, but not impressive. Somewhere in the catacombs is an overworked Mexican cook who just pumps out the plates like a machine. The meal was delivered to me with a, "is this yours?" that hinted at the lack of organization between all departments. I saw and felt no professional management presence, so the inmates are running the asylum. You get the feeling that the unibrow bouncer will throw you out if you ask for more salt or why your bill is incorrect. I'd come back for a PPV event or to shoot pool. This is a review of the pool hall not the restaurant. It's an odd combination, but doesn't detract from the pool experience. Wide variety of tables: 8-foot & 9-foot pocket billiards, coin-operated tables, carom billiards, a massive snooker table (rumored to have been played on by the Rolling Stones). Felt on some tables isn't great but none I've played on have been bad. They also have a wide variety of bar games available. I haven't been there for an event night. The house cues aren't that great, but house cues never are. They have a few beers but they could use a wider variety and maybe a beer menu. Wait staff is friendly. Men's restroom is definitely what you would expect in a bar. I know they try to keep the smell down by putting ice in the urinals, but I think some urinal cakes and air freshener might be in order. They have limited food after the restaurant closes. I haven't tried any of it so I really can't comment on it, but here again they could use a menu. read more

Came here with a group to hang out on a Friday night. This place is HUGE inside. They also have a Mexican restaurant and a full bar. There was a poker tournament going on, so it was pretty busy but there was still plenty of seating and open pool tables. The pool is reasonably priced ($7/hour I think - you pay when you're done) and even though some have said that their drinks are expensive, I did not find this to be the case. Especially the frozen margaritas - they have a TON of flavors, and they were really inexpensive (around $2-$3) for one of those cactus glasses that you can get at the Dollar Store full of frozen goodness. They make their own tortilla chips in-house and they are quite good! I didn't have any other food, but I might in the future if I return. The biggest issue with Romine's is the parking. In the winter, it seems like it would be worse if there's a lot of snow than if there were none. read more
