"The wings were fire". Nice establishment, perfect for watching sports, drinks, and good food. $60 for a bacon steak cheesesteak sandwich, honey brie burger, 6 pc wings, and a stampede punch. Everything tasted so good, the wings were a spotlight, the Asian zing flavor was delicious, a nice spice level with a little sweetness. I highly recommend the up charge for sweet potato fries, they paired so well with the ranch. I will say it's a smaller space but they do have a more family friendly area that's not too close to the bar. Our waitress was super friendly and did so well staying attentive during a busy and seemingly short staffed shift. They had a cookies and cream cake for dessert which sounded so yummy but unfortunately, we opted out. Would love to come back again and try more! read more

The food was unseasoned and so bland. We got steak fries and the steak was rubbery and flavorless. I had a bison burger and again, no flavor. It was crowded and so loud I could hardly hear the server. To top it all off the drinks were super expensive. Never again. read more

Don't sleep on The Slow Buffalo! We hadn't been back since before they closed after the flood this past summer, and they've come back stronger than ever. The weekly specials are super creative (the pork belly tacos were a standout!), and everything is delicious. Service was amazing this time around, too. Plus, the bar is huge so even if it looks busy, you can usually still find a seat. Definitely worth checking out! Oh, highly recommend a piece of carrot cake for dessert! read more

I decided to try the Slow Buffalo and couldn't have been more pleased. Fast and friendly service from the get-go. We started out with the cheese curds. They were made of queso blanco, fried to golden perfection and the chipotle mayo that came with was so delectable. Tony got the carnitas tacos and said they were the best he ever had and that's saying a lot. I got the French Onion burger, which I would rename the "Onion Lovers". The onions on top were sauteed, not caramelized and it came with crunchy French fries onions on top and an onion aioli. The fries were just as perfect as they could be, hot and tasty. Glancing at the food other people ordered like the quesadillas and pork carnitas nachos, everything looked superb. 10/10 would recommend! read more

The Slow Buffalo is owned by the same group that owns the Hale House, only the SB is more like a sports bar, where HH is more like a traditional restaurant. We stopped in because of the specials they were having: an elote chicken sandwich for me and cheeseburger quesadilla for him. My sandwich was very big and was hard to take a bite of, but I like 'em that way, lol! The chicken was a fried chicken breast and was NOT overcooked. The elote topping was creamy and a nice accessory to the chicken. To top it off, arugula was also on it and was the perfect topping instead of typical lettuce. The sandwich came with a boatload of fries which were a smidge overcooked and dry, but not so terrible that we couldn't eat them. I didn't try the quesadilla, but it looked full and delicious, and came with a side of dipping cheese. We started out with an order of cheese curds, and they were awesome! Perfectly browned and crisped little cubes with a very light coating and a ranch dipping sauce. Delish!!! We got a slice of chocolate cake to go and holy moly! The thing was HUGE! We are both chocoholics, but that one slice took us 2 days to finish....it was sooooo good, though! I can't speak for hubs, but I would definitely go back. 39/2025 read more

This was the new restaurant to try after my first attempt was a total train wreck but I'm not getting into that and I would come back another time. The place is nothing like the dark dingy bar of 27 years. Today it's remodeled nicely and decor is modern and bright. It's still small with a small bar and some side tables. My server was very friendly. I have been on a cheesesteak streak when I see them on a menu I get one and I'm usually disappointed with how skimpy the steak usually is or the wrong cheese like Swiss etc etc. The cheesesteak looked good with steak over flowing and plenty of bacon on top, no skimping on this one. It's not a traditional cheesesteak because it was cheese sauce and grilled onions, no peppers. The cheesesteak was good and all the overflowing steak broke through the roll and was falling out the bottom. The cheese sauce is my favorite cheese for a cheesesteak and it was very creamy. The frys were thin cooked to order hot with a crispy shell and soft center. Overall this cheesesteak was the best I have had in a while and they don't skimp on the meat. I would definitely go back and try more of the menu. read more

I see it has good reviews. We went but there was a sign. Closed because of flooding. However next time there we are going to try for sure Well we finally made it. Atmosphere was great people very friendly. Food, hmmm so so. We got the loaded fries I don't recommend. Wings were ok. Burger was pretty good not great but good. Good place for a beer but I tried and probably won't go out of my way to eat there read more

So far I have never had bad service or bad food any time I have gone to this place. The staff is always friendly and attentive. This particular Sunday we stopped before the Packer game so it was pretty slow. I got a margarita and honey chicken wrap with fries. Not sure if you could cook fries more perfectly than what they did. The wrap was delicious and very fresh, had to wait to eat it cause it was how when it came out. Side not I have even order take from here and the food was delicious. read more

Me and two of my friends been wanting to come here so two of us can try the smash burgers and the other one can try the wings. But due to us being under the weather this month, we FINALLY was able to come here over Memorial Day weekend. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a hostess and chose to sit in the dining area. We went over the drink menu and food menu and placed our orders right away. I went with the byo burger with American cheese and pickles, my friend with the byo (cheddar, lettuce, tomato & sauteed onions) and his girlfriend went with 6 buffalo and 6 spicy garlic wings. We didn't have to wait long and from looking at my food being passed over to me I couldn't wait to dig in! After taking off the top bun to put on my condiments, I noticed that it was kind of cold like it was just taken out of the walk in cooler. It was very lightly toasted but it was still odd that it is toasted and cold at the same time but I looked past it. My friend noticed the same thing with his bun as well but he also looked past it too. The "sauteed" onions were diced onions and weren't caramelized like you would think. They looked like they were cooked in butter but did not give them the sauteed treatment. You're typical smash burger is smashed thin and has a caramelized top and crispy edges, but these burgers didn't have any of the features that a smash burger should have like you would get at Archie's. However, I will say it was seasoned well, was juicy and the pickles were nice and crisp. Not to mention the fries were crispy hot with a soft potato center. My friend who ordered the wings were a nice size and she said the flavors were really good. Her boyfriend tried one of the buffalo wings and agreed it was quite tasty. Overall, the burger was good but I wouldn't call it smash burger. It's more of a double cheeseburger in my opinion but overall it was a delicious. I would have it again and even give the fish fry a try. I would actually give it 3.5 stars but it's not AN option. read more

I was immediately greeted at door and asked if I was dining. We were seated after being asked if we had a preference on where we would be comfortable eating. The waitress was fantastic and had our drink orders in and delivered quickly. I ordered a hamburger and fries and my beautiful wife had the bang bang shrimp. The meals and the specialty drinks were fantastic. Will definitely visit this establishment again if we are in the area. read more

What a fantastic little find! A cozy bar/restaurant with limited seating but the food and service was fantastic! Leah, our server was knowledgeable about the menu and very accommodating for the kids on our party of 5. My husband had the buffalo bonus wings which were the perfect amount of saucy and spice. A few of us had smash burgers which were cooked perfectly and the seasoning was spot on! I love the bread used for their buns! My daughter had a chicken sandwich that she said was very tender. The place was very clean and well decorated. A well hidden gem. read more

We went on a busy Saturday for lunch. The parking lot was full. But don't let that fool you. We parked on the street and there was plenty of seating for two. We got a high table. But there were also about 8 to 10 spots at the bar. It was a constant turn over and the staff is amazing at keeping up with the pace. The bar tender was great at helping tables when he wasn't making drinks behind the bar. I found that very impressive. Our waitress was always on top of things and very kind. We didn't have to wait long for any of our order. For so many people the noise level was not over powering we could still visit without yelling. Owners also had The Local and Hale House so they know what they are doing. I had a chicken sandwich and fries. Delicious. My husband had the tacos which he said he would definitely have again. However he would like to try a burger as we found out later that they have solid burgers. Good to know. I'm sure we will be back and recommend you give it a try. Great staff that make you want to come back! read more

Arrived at 4:45pm on a Friday and it was packed. We had 2 fish fries one with fries the other with potato pancakes. We got about 4/5 smaller pieces of fish which was hot and fresh, quite good. The coleslaw lacked any flavor as did the potato pancakes which weren't that warm. They had no taste of onion nor of any spice. Typical fries which you can upgrade and add bacon and cheese for $2. This place is in the Hale House group the price was $17 or $18. The building is quite small and very very loud. Staff is pleasant. read more

Here is my barometer for The Slow Buffalo-It is related to The Local, so it has to be great and I must try it. The 3 establishments tied together are all excellent. They have a good formula and menu for each location. I know The Local's burgers are legit, so I got the blue cheese, bacon, Swiss burger. It comes with a double smash patty compilation. The fries are hot and fresh and so is the burger. The service was very friendly and attentive. It is nice to see quality food come to this area. It is a bit of a food/restaurant desert in my opinion, and cannot see how this place is not going to blow up. I'm glad I went here before it does and the ownership should be proud of it's commitment to excellence, and delivering the quality at each location. read more

Went here on a Friday night with a friend for dinner. We put our names on the waitlist on the way to the bar, but decided to sit at the bar and order instead. It was quite busy for such a small place. I ordered the cheese curds and the 6 piece garlic Parmesan wings, all flats. My girlfriend ordered the Brussels sprouts and 6 piece wing with the dry rub. I didn't care for my cheese curds, but my friend really enjoyed her Brussels sprouts with bacon on them. The wings came out shortly after and they were just okay. Nothing special about them. My friend only ate one of her wings before deciding to pack everything up to take home. The bar is just average. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. Service was fine, especially because they were so busy. Seemed like a lot of regulars in there. Prolly wouldn't return to eat, but would go back for drinks. read more

Shrimp wrap was awful and only 4 small shrimp in each half. It was mostly lettuce and dressing. Very disappointing since it seems the quality had dropped since my last visit. read more

The fish fry was real fish. Some places you get more breading then fish, not at the Slow Buffalo. The potatoe pancakes were made fresh and hot I choose a burger with 2 kinds of onions. I searched for best wings and this place popped up. I ordered 12 of the Buffalo bonus wings and an order of fries. The wings have a dry rub and then the Buffalo sauce as well. I won't say they were the best wings I have ever had, but they had very good flavor and a nice spice level. The fries were also very good. The place is not real big inside. Maybe 12 tables or so and maybe 20-25? Seats around the bar. Very nice and friendly staff! All of the food coming out of the kitchen looked very good, so I will definitely be back to try more things out! read more

The minute we walked into this place we felt welcomed and at home. Ladies behind the bar were so friendly. The place was so clean! My husband ordered the sandwich special and not only was it delicious but it was huge!! Same with my Brie bacon burger. We both left with a full tummy, happy tastebuds and leftovers. Our waitress Kayla was amazing! So personable and on top of all of our needs. Added bonus was how quickly the food came out!! Wow!! We will be back!! Glad to welcome this new hot spot to our neighborhood read more

Disappointing! I love the Hale House and the Local. The Slow Buffalo was awful, especially the food. An order of nachos was a plate of mush on stale chips. Inedible. Burger and fries were extra greasy, sloppy, and not warm enough. Poor service also. The waiter was on his phone most of the time. Hire a bartender, the waiter does not know how to make a drink. read more

The food was great, our server was super sweet and accommodating. We came in with 11 people after a soccer game, and they were exceptional.

Most amazing food ever. When people talk about Milwaukee food and how good it is, they mean this. The service was amazing so quick and fast. Every sauce they had was amazing, burgers great, and fries. Cannot saw enough great things about this place. Ambiance is great too. Hidden gem in Milwaukee. read more

Been there twice in 2 weeks. It's a small place with limited parking ( but plenty of street parking). And only about 5 4-tops, and about 5 2-tops, so not good for a large group. BUT‐ the food is AWESOME. I loved the brussel sprout appetizer, and the Bacon Blue Mushroom burger. The French Onion burger was really good too. (Others in my family have tried to shrimp po-boy and shrimp tacos and gave them a thumbs up) Staff is super helpful and friendly. Shout out to Kayla. Will definitely be back. read more
