Service was horrible came in today for lunch I ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich my wife had the turkey melt we ordered two drinks my glass was dirty and instead of her taking the glass and exchanging it when she acknowledged that it was dirty she took the piece of food that was on the glass off the glass and continue to walk away at that point I was lost for words my wife asked for another drink you could tell she just took the glass and wiped it and kept the same drink in there I've never felt so bad in my life I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody from the beginning of the time entrance into the restaurant the service was poor if I had to write the food to five I give it to this place should be closed read more

There are only a few restaurants in Ramona so we go here more often than others. Food is decent but it is a bit over priced for what it is. I'm not a fan of "al fresco" dining, but the new patio at D'Carlos Restaurant is stunning! It is completely covered over the top and surrounded on the sides by lush, green foliage. You don't have to contend with sun, wind, etc. Really the perfect, relaxing environment. They now have live music on the patio every Wednesday night at 7pm so I went to check it out. Such an enjoyable evening! I recently tried the Chicken Parmesan at D'Carlos. Covered in melted provolone cheese and marinara sauce, served with a side of spaghetti, tasty garlic bread and freshly shaved parmesan cheese. The first thing I noticed was the stunning presentation! The next thing I observed was the naked chicken breast! Traditional chicken parm is made with a breaded chicken breast so this was somewhat of a departure being not breaded. I have to tell you though, the more I ate, the more I liked it. The chicken was grilled to the perfect doneness and was quite juicy and tender. Personally, I prefer a crispy breaded breast, but this one didn't feel like a lead weight in my gut after eating it. I'm sure it was less calories too for those who care about that sort of thing. The pasta unfortunately was cooked well past al dente. I was really impressed though with the marinara sauce. In my opinion it would rival any good Italian restaurant within a reasonable driving distance. It was rich, flavorful and robust. Overall a great dish when you want something other than their signature beef or seafood dishes. I love taking my wife to D'Carlos to get one of their outstanding chocolate eclairs. I have to say, this is probably one of the best desserts I've ever put in my mouth! This thing is huge; roughly the size of a small slipper or moccasin (about a men's size 8). It's only $6 and is served with a knife so you can cut it in half to share with your Hunny. (Tip for the guys: always take the smaller half!) The eclairs here are filled with some sort of cream/custard filling, and a lot of it! The whole thing is then blanketed with an excellent warm, thick and rich chocolate sauce. Almost like a ganache. I think what set this apart for me was the temperature contrast. The cold cream filling combined with the warm chocolate sauce made for an amazing oral sensation! read more

I've grown up in Ramona my whole life and remember going to D'Carlos often as a child. Unfortunately, the food here is quite sub par. The presentation and menu selection are things could very easily be made at home and not of the quality expected for a restaurant. On top of that the food is INCREDIBLY overpriced for what it is. Today was my first visit back since I moved away from Ramona and was excited to bring my husband here for the first time. Once the food was brought to our table, my husband thought I was joking about this being THE D'Carlos I described visiting as child and responded with, "we are never coming back here. The food sucks." Frankly I would give a 2 star rating because the food is that poor, but they still have the best service and that is their saving grace. Like so many other landmark restaurants of Ramona, D'Carlos is stuck in the past. If they would improve their menu and renovate the space (even just a little bit), it could TRULY be a gem spot in Ramona. Overall, everyone that lives in Ramona knows the dining is terrible. But it shouldn't stay that way! With improvements, we could make our town a place people want to visit, eat at, and enjoy coming to. But for now, D'Carlos are others still have a long way to go. read more

This place has some really good food that is reasonably priced! Service was also great a couple of the waitresses have been there for years and take pride in their job and its great to see! Vegi good service and clean location! French onion soup is great!! Kids meals are also good we have gotten the chicken fingers and kids burger for my skin. He liked them both. Decarlos pasta with shrimp is delicious, meatloaf is really good and its only 12$ for the dinner plate.. Love the garden salads and cant forget about the rootbeer float for desert! Went here on Monday for lunch, yes they had a 30 top on the patio, however my girlfriend ordered the burger, it was so overcooked she had to drink water after every bite literally smashed and burnt to a crisp. I had the "French dip " the meat was so thick I had to take some off to be able to eat the sandwich, my sweet potato fries were also burnt. Our server can't remember her name was great and attentive. read more

Tried something new this evening. D'Carlos. We've always driven by to and from and been meaning to try. Had our Memorial Day dinner there. Great choice it was too. Both of us had burgers. Swiss Mushroom burger and onion rings with water. ABC (avocado, bacon and cheddar) burger and fries w/Guinness. Everything looked so good, I forgot to take pics and we dug right in. Friendly service, good music and comfy, cozy, quiet lounge. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend and should be on a recent list I saw of 100 best burger places. We'll be back again!! John read more

We placed a pick-up/to-go order yesterday for 2 cobb salads. From the gal who answered the phone to the gal who checked us out when we picked up our dinner- everyone was warm, friendly, professional, and personable. Salads were large, fresh, delicious, and no ingredient was spared! On the pricey side, but everything is super expensive now so no surprise there. Will absolutely be back! read more

We have supported D'Carlos for 30 years. Things have changed recently. Food, okay, slightly over priced, servers are great. Our main complaint is the managing, freezing so bring your wool clothing, the servers state they are not allowed to use the controls in winter or summer. Last summer the servers were sweating trying to do their job. What about the comfort of their customers. Raining, cold, wind blowing and it was colder than outside. Sorry ! I love D'Carlos. The food is excellent always. I have ordered about everything on the menu and haven't had a bad meal. The staff is great. A place where they will learn your name. The new owners are doing a great job as well. I love, love this place. My go to meal is the Grilled chicken with Cajun sauce double veggies and brown bread. I wanted to like DCarlos , but they did not give me the opportunity to do so. We were a group of 10 , upon arrival , they told us " we will have to seat you outside in the patio , since we don't have room inside " Ok we said , But when went inside to use the restroom, there was plenty of Space everywhere, place was not busy at all , Still , they went ahead at made us wait 40 minutes for a table , yes 40 minutes , The first hostess was rude and not inviting at all, seemed She had a bad day , and we unfortunate to receive the end of it , I understand we all have bad days, she clocked out then another hostess took our orders , she was a lot nicer and very attentive . Food was not espectacular, it was plain. Honestly , I wanted to like DCarlos , but maybe in the future they will erase my first negative impression , Att: to management.
