    Rachel's cafe for lunch.

We stopped in to Rachel's for a quick lunch on our way home from Julian. We we're quickly seated by our wonderful server. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Our food came quickly, hot and fresh. It wasn't easy to decide since their menu is diverse and Interesting. I settled on an omelette for lunch. It was filled with all the delicious ingredients and I left the restaurant with a full belly. I definitely recommend trying this. There is an ample parking in a dedicated parking lot for this restaurant.

I finally got in to check out one of Ramona's newest restaurants, Rachel's Cafe & Eatery. I visited twice recently and enjoyed myself both times. The vibe is modern, relaxed and welcoming. All of the staff were so nice, genuine and hospitable. I appreciate that they take reservations online and have draft beer! There's a decent selection of wines by the glass. Local Ramona wineries are well represented on the list however by bottle only. The "Cocktails" portion of the menu might be a misnomer since they're using a soju based product at 48 proof. Your mileage may vary depending on your expectations. While some may scoff at the so-called tacky pin ball and claw machines, I thought they were fun to look at and not at all distracting. Restrooms were nicely appointed, spacious, clean and thoughtfully decorated. Most recently I had the Fish and Chips ($19) which were outstanding. Cod filets were thick, meaty and succulent with an exquisite crispy batter that I loved. Fries were hot and crispy, as they should be. The side of "house made remoulade" was unremarkable and tasted mostly of mayonnaise. That recipe needs to go back to the drawing board or be made in a different house. Previously I had ordered the Chicken Tomato Pesto Tortellini ($23) which turned out to be a pretty monotonous dish and a chore to eat. Small institutional tri-colored tortellini and excessively sauced. I had higher hopes for that one. I look forward to returning soon to try one of their burgers. I saw a few come out and they looked extraordinary! Biggest bummer for me was the added 4% fee to pay with my debit card. Overall a real nice establishment, I wish them great success.

A fantastic new restaurant opened up in downtown Ramona. Right on Main Street . We had the pleasure of enjoying their food . Friendly service friendly , in a casual setting. Prices are reasonable, and parking in the back. Everything is made there. It is locally farmed fresh .

The drink was delicious. The soup was pretty good! The atmosphere is very cute but loud. They need to add some soft things like pillows or macrame on the walls. It just reverberates with noise when it gets full. Our server was great although she did say the numbers wrong in our final bill so I thought it was $43 for two bowls of soup and a drink instead of $34. She did automatically include a 20% tip. Even for a party of two. That's fine with me because that's what I normally tip but I was surprised. Just a good thing to know--tips are automatic and they're 20%. Anyhow it's a great addition to Ramona and I recommend it. Just know it's a busy, loud vibe.

Food was absolutely amazing at Rachel's cafe, best staff service I've had in Ramona, food was seasoned to perfection and very unique flavor. One of the best 2 meals I've tasted in a long time. I recommend the Cajun shrimp pasta and the honey chicken Mac and cheese. I definitely will be coming back and referring anyone to go here for a great meal and awesome staff. 1000/10

We had heard this place had a couple of mixed reviews so we decided to come check it out for my Mom's birthday. The restaurant is cute in a farm chic style with a bakery case near the entrance. The hostess greeted us and led us to our table in the back of the restaurant and handed out our menus while we waited for our server. After 10 minutes my husband went to find someone to help us. Jess, our server, came right after that and apologized for the inconvenience. We ordered our food and also explained we were there celebrating a birthday. Jess said she'd check with Rachel and see what was available. We ordered Brussels sprouts for our appetizer, mom ordered the club sandwich with fries, hubs and I shared the Cobb salad with blue cheese. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, a little bit sweet and savory at the same time due to the pomegranate arils and shaved Parmesan cheese, roasted to perfection. Mom's sandwich looked good and she said it was very tasty as well as the fries, she ate it all! The Cobb salad was good, chicken was cooked perfectly and still warm as we ate it, also had eggs, avocado slices, bacon, tomatoes, blue cheese. The only ingredient missing (for me) was onions but it wasn't a deal breaker. The dressing was on the thin side and no blue cheese crumbles, average. I also ordered a brown sugar Boba, very good tea to flavoring ratio with a good amount of boba in it. Jess brought us our bill and hubby asked her about the birthday treat for my mother and we were told that the tartlets weren't available and if she liked she could have a scoop of ice cream instead. My mom politely declined and we left. Will we be back? Maybe after more of the kinks are worked out.

Lots of outdoor seating; dog-friendly but no water bowls on their patios. Nice selection of alcoholic beverages, including local wines. Had the watermelon spritzer & Cobb salad. Interesting that they had take-out containers but NO disposable serviceware, really??? Service was OK & a server who was leaving stopped to be sure somebody had waited on us. Will return (w/o a dog) to check out the inside.

That commitment to quality and sustainability is commendable and something more restaurants should strive for. The staff is knowledgeable, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant that cares about where its food comes from. Unfortunately, that attention to ingredient sourcing seems to stop when it comes to cooking oils. Many of the menu items are prepared with soybean oil, which was disappointing given the otherwise high-quality and health-conscious image of the restaurant. Soybean oil is highly processed and contains large amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. While omega-6 fats are essential in moderation, excessive consumption relative to omega-3 intake has been associated with increased inflammation in some research. Soybean oil is also more susceptible to oxidation when exposed to high cooking temperatures, potentially producing compounds that some studies suggest may contribute to oxidative stress. In addition, many health-conscious consumers actively avoid industrial seed oils such as soybean, corn, and canola oils in favor of alternatives like olive oil, avocado oil, butter, or tallow. I would gladly give Marinade on Main a higher rating if they aligned their cooking oils with the same local, high-quality standards they apply to the rest of their ingredients. Switching to avocado oil or olive oil or beef talo would be a welcome improvement and would better match the restaurant's otherwise impressive commitment to quality. * also loose the standard strip of high fructose sodas and provide more natural optikns of drinks ...

I even brought friends who had never been here before, thinking it could become one of our regular stops when we're out hitting the trails. Instead, it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth... and not just from the food. Waitress: Where do I even start. She claimed she was hard of hearing--but her attitude spoke loud and clear. Tossing menus on the table, aggressively slamming salsa down, and getting snarky over being off because our party count was off by one person. Seriously? It took two seconds to adjust the table, but apparently that was just too much. Yes, she technically did her job... but with such a cold, unwelcoming, and rigid attitude that it made the whole experience uncomfortable. What really stood out? We were there first and ready to order, yet she chose to take care of every smaller table that came in after us. No communication, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just ignored. Basic courtesy clearly isn't part of the service here. And trust me--I used to be a waitress. I handled large parties all the time and actually communicated with my tables. It's not that hard. Honestly, if gratuity hadn't already been forced onto the bill, she would've gotten $0. The only pleasant person we encountered was the busser--quick, friendly, and actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Maybe swap their roles, because he outperformed her by a mile. Food: Let's talk about the food... if that's what we're calling it. Everything came out cold. Not "warm-ish," not "could be hotter"... just straight up cold. It felt like our plates were sitting under a heat lamp for way too long before making it to the table. One "white" friend asked to have her meal fixed--fine, no problem. But when another "Hispanic" friend asked the same thing? Suddenly there was attitude, menu slamming, and mumbling under her breath. So... what exactly was the difference? Why the inconsistency and hostility? If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe management should step in and help instead of letting food die in the window. Just a thought. Final Thoughts: This place had potential... but that waitress single-handedly ruined it. We'll be taking our group (and our money) elsewhere--Dudley's Bakery is looking like a much better option moving forward. I usually bring large groups out here, so this isn't a small loss. Unfortunately, if this is the level of service they're okay with, this place isn't going to improve anytime soon. At this point, it's less "Farmhouse charm" and more "junky barn energy."

I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste.
