In the city of Ramona and looking for American diner food that happens to be famous for being featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" aka Triple D? Then look no further than Ramona Cafe in Downtown Ramona and park in the back for free or on the street, and get ready to eat! I ordered a pepsi (soda has free refills), chicken fried steak with over easy eggs that came with a biscuit with butter, and the famous cinnamon roll for my complete lunch (breakfast is served all day). The chicken fried steak tasted more like a sausage patty than ground beef, but the server assured me that it was made of beef and that the gravy is made of pork sausage. I had hash browns (shredded potatoes) versus the home fries (diced potatoes) and topped it with ketchup and Tapatio. The biscuit was warm and soft, but the bread that was worth coming to this diner was the Cinnamon Roll, it had a burst of cinnamon in every bite, wish it had a bit more sugar and frosting, but it was delicious nonetheless. I took a photo next to the framed autograph poster of Guy Fieri and was happy to give this diner a try due to Ramona Cafe being featured on this popular show. So if you want American Diner style food in the city of Ramona, then make a pit stop at Ramona Cafe and order the cinnamon roll, and roll out of there!

Came here the other day and had such a great experience! We had a party of six and the staff was super accommodating! Inside the restaurant is super welcoming and home-style atmosphere. The menu is huge in the best way, with so many options to choose from! Our waitress was incredibly sweet, checked on us just the right amount, and our food came out perfectly. I got the French toast and it was so good! Fluffy, buttery, and the portions were super generous! Also, if you're an iced coffee person, I would definitely recommend! It was massive, tasted great, and they even offered cups so we could take the rest to go! Overall, this place was amazing for breakfast and I'd absolutely recommend it. Can't wait to come back and try the lunch menu next time!

I was in Ramona, CA (San Diego) visiting my sick brother. I wanted to try a local breakfast place so he recommended the Ramona Cafe at 628 Main St, Ramona, CA 92065. He told me it was his favorite restaurant. So I went there two days and what an experience. The menu covered breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just about anything you wanted, it was there. The first day I had to try the 1/2 Lb cinnamon roll, as featured on a TV show. It was incredible, fresh made, lots of cinnamon and frosting. I only ate about 1/4 of it due to its size. I enjoyed a senior ham and cheese omelette with potatoes and a biscuit. The star of the meal was the home made salsa. The omelette was faboulos-great quality ingredients and cooked the way I liked it. The second visit I had their house specialty-seafood omelette filled with crab and shrimp. This was real crab, not the imitation you find in most restaurants. I give the omelette 5 Stars. I even tried the pancakes, which I really liked-thin, not thick or fluffy, my favorite style. I even had a slice of the boysenberry apple Pie. One of the best pies I've tasted! Quality ingredients that was not store bought. The restaurant itself has been around for many years. It is very rustic looking inside but clean and well maintained. The service is outstanding. On the first day I had a very nice server that made sure that I was provided with excellent service. The second day I had a young lady named Kelsey who really was very attentive and polite. The owner of the store was also working, serving customers. The restaurant had a lot of customers, so I checked out what they were ordering such as sandwiches and other items. If I lived in Ramona, I would be visiting the Ramona Cafe often. I therefore HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

We called ahead and they reserved a table for our party for brunch. They have a nice menu for breakfast items. I got the farmhouse skillet. They were able to alter it to my liking. I got the gravy on the side, which was really good. I think, for me, with it on it it could have been too much. But with me having it on the side, I was able to add it to my liking. Without it, it tasted rather bland. But either the gravy, it was quite delicious. The staff there were all friendly and helpful. They definitely showed patience with the group I was with haha

Amazing cafe where you can sit inside or outside. You pick a table and sit down - no hostess. I love that! We had Amber as our server, and she was super accommodating and friendly! I had the Baja Scramble- sooo good! It was a lot of food, and I couldn't finish it all. But I'm having the leftovers for breakfast now at my house and loving the scramble once again! I can't wait to be up in Ramona, so I can go there again!

We ventured out to Ramona for a morning breakfast and wanted to patronize a local restaurant not a corporate restaurant store. Ramona cafe did not disappoint us. A local restaurant with lots of historical and local flair. The Garden skillet breakfast was awesome. Generous portions and attentive support servers. Their greetings and smiles were in abundant supply!

They were sitting right next to the Julian pies and it kinda looked like a fight, like a battle of the mountain bakeries kind of fight. Needless to say, I grabbed both because everyone immediately glorifies the Julian pie so by including the Ramona pie, my objective was to introduce some low risk novelty for my Christmas get-together. I didn't have high hopes for Ramona's blueberry because I was suspicious of the huge bready looking crust roll in combination with the sticker on the front boasting "no seed oils". I'm not fluent in baking alchemy. I was raised on Costco pie (bleh). So, I thought this was going to be dry and overly sweet but much to my whole family's surprise, Ramona was the winner! My takeaway: Do not discriminate the chubby crust roll! Take it from me because I'm a savage that eats a pie right out of the fridge. The crust is like a shortbread cookie. It's almost on the Italian pastry spectrum. Very delicious. Very coffee friendly. The blueberry filling was also perfectly balanced. It wasn't too sweet and even with the crumble topping, I felt like I could eat it with yogurt in the morning and trick myself into calling it a wholesome breakfast. Now, I'm going to say this with a huge shield up... but it knocked the Julian apple pie way off the shelf for me.

The latte was actually really good, but the overall experience was average. There was a huge line when I arrived, and only one person was handling everything including taking orders, making drinks, and preparing food. She was clearly working incredibly hard, but it was just too much for one person to manage during a busy rush, so the wait ended up being pretty long. I honestly felt bad for her. I really think this place would benefit from having at least two people working during peak hours because the café itself is actually pretty cute. This small kiosk style coffee shop seems to change hands every few years. Since they're in my neighborhood, I like to support them. I was greeted warmly but had to wait a few minutes to order. That's ok, there was only one person working at the time and I was in no hurry. I decided on a Jalapeno Cheese Bagel, toasted with cream cheese "for here". I noticed their small selection of bagels were just sitting out in the open air, not covered up or in any sort of container. After a few minutes I was handed the bagel in a small bag, despite ordering in. I took a seat at one of their small patio tables. The bagel was very tasty with a pretty conservative spread of cream cheese. Not sure where they source their bagels from, but it had a nice chew and flavor, unfortunately not enough jalapeno. The outside seating area seemed rather unkempt. Several of the tables had ponding water pooled on the surface; some chairs as well. It was 10:00 am and they had been open for several hours but apparently don't take much care in maintaining the "gathering" area.

I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste.
