My son took me to Marinade on Main for dinner, I was expecting a different style of dining. I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of the decor. Metal chairs and wooden booth/bench that lines the front and side of the restaurant. Pillows are spread across the booth/bench for those needing a little back support. We were seated quickly and our waitress addressed us promptly, which is much appreciated. I ordered the nonalcoholic blackberry mojito. It took all of my might not to drink it all at once. So refreshing, not overly sweet. We ordered the Brussel sprouts appetizer, which appeared faster than we had expected. Yummy I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with the fried chicken. He ordered the burger. Fettuccine light but with excellent flavor, the fried chicken was moist and not over coated. The burger was oozing with beef juices. Although his mashed potatoes were a bit dry, the gravy was very tasty. I'd say the atmosphere is casual, but not shorts and tank casual. Definitely not business casual or dressy. The staff were all so kind and checked in on us and attended to our needs when requested. Go in and check it out for yourself, you won't regret it. That commitment to quality and sustainability is commendable and something more restaurants should strive for. The staff is knowledgeable, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant that cares about where its food comes from. Unfortunately, that attention to ingredient sourcing seems to stop when it comes to cooking oils. Many of the menu items are prepared with soybean oil, which was disappointing given the otherwise high-quality and health-conscious image of the restaurant. Soybean oil is highly processed and contains large amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. While omega-6 fats are essential in moderation, excessive consumption relative to omega-3 intake has been associated with increased inflammation in some research. Soybean oil is also more susceptible to oxidation when exposed to high cooking temperatures, potentially producing compounds that some studies suggest may contribute to oxidative stress. In addition, many health-conscious consumers actively avoid industrial seed oils such as soybean, corn, and canola oils in favor of alternatives like olive oil, avocado oil, butter, or tallow. I would gladly give Marinade on Main a higher rating if they aligned their cooking oils with the same local, high-quality standards they apply to the rest of their ingredients. First timer, and SO glad we found this place! Stopped by on a Friday evening, easy street parking, and was seated right away. The decor and style of the restaurant is very inviting and warm. All the ladies working were very friendly. Our server, Tiffany, was amazing! Gave us wonderful recs and went above and beyond for us. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! My second time eating here and it was just as good as the first! It blows my mind that this restaurant is located on the little main drag and Ramona. Food, quality, service, cozy, atmosphere, and drink selection are all top notch. We started out with the roasted carrots, and they are ridiculous. Roasted to perfection, a little bit of a seasoned yogurt sauce on the bottom of the plate, a light dusting of pitas and greens. I could eat this every day. The last time we went, we got the brussels sprouts, which were good, but this was way more interesting of a dish. Two of my girlfriends got vegetarian items. I didn't get pictures of these items, but per their report the portabello burger and the ancient grain bowl were really good. One of my other girlfriends got the world's largest hot honey grilled chicken sandwich. She loved it although she was sweating a little bit. That hot honey was HAWT. Our coffee came in take-out cups because they didn't have anymore the regular mugs available. Not sure what that meant since it is a coffee place and it is pretty small. The Brussels Sprouts are a MUST! They might be the best I've ever had. They are all large, perfectly charred sprouts, full of a perfect balance of flavor. The Rib-eye! Oh the Rib-eye... perfectly cooked and flavored. Everything on the plate balanced together. My daughter had the Fried Chicken Alfredo. The fried chicken was a perfect flavor. The meat was juicy and flavorful. The batter was a perfect layer of crispness, and spices. The Alfredo was one of the best as well. Best food in Ramona hands down! My family loves coming here, the fried chicken is some of the best I've ever had. Recently went for brunch for the first time, outdoor patio space was lovely. Pancakes were delicious and the bacon/potatoes were great as well. My only suggestion would be having ketchup/hot sauce/sugar packets at the table already since it gets so busy at times it can take awhile for someone to grab them for us. I'm not in Ramona frequently. It's usually a pass-through on the way to Julian or Dudley's. But we had occasion to meet some family up there and this was the recommendation for food. Very solid recommendation. It was an early dinner and we settled on comfort. The Mac and Cheese with bacon is way better than it needs to be. The small restaurant feels and looks cozy (nice 'homy' furniture and decor) and thus fills up quickly for lunch/brunch. Waitress dropped off the menu without a smile and barely acknowledged us. Came back 5min later to take our orders: 4 of the beers on tap were sold out, and only the regular mimosa was what she could 'make' ... no explanations Brunch menu is ok: we went for a Benny and Chicken-n-Biscuit. Food arrived after 15min: cold plates and cold food (you can see the sauces all set a solidified on the pictures). What's the point to ask to warm it with Eggs Benedict??? Biscuit was amazing, the sole bright spot! We love eating at Marinade on Main! They have a spacious and relaxing patio that is perfect for treating our dog to a night out on the town with us. They even offer puppy hamburger patty's that are served with no seasoning; a special treat for our girl. The service is always friendly and genuine. Gracie made sure we had everything we needed. And the food... everything is delicious and always made fresh. We ate so quickly that I didn't think to get a photo. I was impressed with absolutely everything about this place. My godparents come here frequently and I really thought this place couldn't possibly be as good as advertised. Spoiler ... it was ! We started with the Brussel sprout app which was scrumptious. I had salmon on the autumn salad and I ate every last bit. Others had the pork chop and the Brussel sprout salad. Let's start with the good... I ordered eggs and bacon. The eggs were great as was the bacon. Although, the side of bacon only came with 2 pcs, and were not as thick as described. They were just normal pieces of bacon. At least it wasn't packaged bacon. The restaurant itself is small, but have utilized all the space for max seating. Waitresses were nice and attentive, and food came in a timely manner. The bad would... their cheesy breakfast sandwich special. For $18, it was quite a disappointment. The sandwich itself came with an egg, a piece of ham and sausage. The side of potatoes were cold and stale. It's just such a bummer when we decide to eat out and splurge (for us) and the food is sub par. $32... it hurts just writing that out. Had brunch recently at Marinade on Main in Ramona, California! A dish they call "Ranchers Hash". Made with brisket, taters, red bells, shallots, cherry maters, roasted salsa and sunny side up eggs. Overall, I thought the dish was poorly executed. Not much brisket was included, and what was there were mostly slugs of fat. The taters were universally soft, should have been more crispy. It all quickly sogged out and turned into a chore to eat. Compliments on their sunny side eggs though. Always perfectly cooked with set whites and creamy yolks. I requested a side of biscuit & gravy which was outstanding. The biscuit is roughly the size of a small throw pillow, and that country gravy is some of the best you'll put in your mouth. read more

What a wonderful hidden gem! Hubby and I discovered this jewel on way back from Julian. Great ambience, very tasty food. A real step up from some "country" restaurants. (No offense intended!). My husband had the pulled pork sandwich with tasty fries, and I had the miso salmon with roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus. Both meals were delightful! Tiffany was our server here and she made the entire experience lovely. My husband knows what he likes and doesn't and she was really great about giving him a couple of tastes of wine before he landed. He had a steak that was worthy of being served at Mortons- for half the price. They have a Viognier on their wines by the glass list that I can't wait to come back and try. Let me just say, I'm one of the pickiest people when it comes to restaurants and food, and I rarely go back for a second or third visit. But I've been here three times now, and each time I've ordered the same salad (Southern Bell) because it's just that good! Marinade on Main is a cute upscale diner lunch/brunch spot on the main drag in Ramona. It is quaint and small with a country style interior, and they had already decorated for Valentine's Day. This time I was there in a group of five, and we were given very attentive service. I felt like they handled all of our requests without complaint or upcharging. We asked for separate checks. I was trying to eat healthier so I ordered my scramble with egg whites only and no cheese, and with fruit instead of bread. In fact, I had simply told them to hold the bread, and they suggested fruit. Others in our group also made requests, which were easily met by staff. They came back several times to refill our waters, sodas, and coffees. They also brought condiments as needed. Despite my scramble having only egg whites and no cheese as I had requested, it had lots of flavor including large chunks of zucchini, peppers, and tomatoes. My friends were all happy with their breakfasts. The daily specials were the favorites of our group. The only issue is that there was just one bathroom, and the restaurant was getting crowded. There were people waiting, and that did not really offer the opportunity for cleaning. I won't downgrade my review for that, as it is a very small place, but if they ever have the opportunity to expand, that would be very helpful. My husband and I came in expecting mid food and expensive prices, but our expectations were exceeded! We got there just before 5, before they were technically open. We were seated and waited for the service to start. As we waited, a flood of other customers came in and the restaurant had several tables seated even before 5! The ambiance is lovely. It's cozy with warm lighting and cute fall decor. We thought the main waitress was actually the owner just based on her happy demeanor and because she was training a new waitress. The main reason we chose to write a review was because their food was AMAZING. My husband got the ribeye and I got the salmon. We both loved our food and everything was perfectly cooked.
