Starting some evening meals at Country Kitchen. Hatch mac n cheese is incredible! Creamy with a nice kick! Kale salad with the vinaigrette is refreshing! Try the wings with the house made orange jam! Habanero mango sauce has a good kick. Sweet BBQ dipping sauce is also good. Reminds me of western bacon sauce! Yum. Can't wait to see what else they will offer! read more

[TL;DR: Served inedible food I did not eat, charged in full, zero attempt to make it right.] I very rarely leave negative reviews and don't nitpick or blast places over small issues - and you can check my other reviews to verify that. I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste. read more

The moment we walked in the door, it was warm friendly and down home. The waitress was friendly and let us review the menu. She placed the order while we were talking to her. It came out promptly. He ordered the Western omelet and I ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage and eggs. His omelet looked good, he loved it. My eggs were perfect, the sausage was tasty and the gravy was tasty. My biscuit was dry. I would still eat here again. We loved the country music. The place was clean and happy read more

New owner alert! This place needed an upgrade and boy did it get one! It looks so much cleaner in there and the new staff is amazing! A friend asked if I wanted to have breakfast when I was in town and at first I refused to go there but he assured me it wasn't the same kountry kitchen as before. I had the ABC omelet and fresh fruit, the omelet had lots of cheese and bacon, the eggs were fluffy and there was plenty of avocado. The fruit was fresh and there were lots of berries at the bottom of the cup. We also went back a couple of days and had the steak and eggs, the steak was cooked perfect and the country potato's were cooked in beef talo and were perfect. You have to try the fresh squeezed orange juice they squeeze it with a machine right in front of you. Can't wait to go back. read more

We order the beef Philly with French fries, bourbon French toast and the chicken fried steak. On the Philly the meat was so dry and the fries all burn exactly the same either way with the French toasts and that makes them so dry. But the chicken fried stake was the worst(pic attached) and the country fries were made on the deep fryerso oily. About the service, was horrible, we wait for the food more then 30 min and the waiter was so distracted. We ask for water like 3 times. The AC wasn't working because was so humid and hot. So we never return to this place. read more

If you're craving a super yummy, fresh and homemade breakfast out, this is your place. If words like "cooked in tallow" and "Beeler's bacon and chorizo" give you any incentive, it's just another reason to go here. The quality-- from the thoughtful ingredient match-ups and made-from-scratch taste to the perfect cook is why we keep coming back. Every single thing we have tried on this menu has been a winner. Breakfast and lunch every day and some dinner options now too Thursday-Saturday! The Breakfast tacos, although a bit cumbersome to eat, are DELICIOUS. Get that homemade salsa! So is the Avocado Toast, Mexifornia Omelette, ALL their breakfast burritos combos, Country Casserole (yum!!) and amazing waffles. Just to name a few. New ownership has breathed fresh life into the menu and it really appeals to a modern day conscientious consumer who cares about what they're actually eating, all while delivering delicious flavor with perfect seasoning. Nothing boring here. This is almost like a Snooze Eatery meets country diner. Old-time look but a menu for a contemporary palette. There's something here for everyone, classic and new spins, perfect for Southern California in the country. Their orange and cranberry juice spritzer is SO refreshing, worth enjoying while you wait. Lucky to have them right here in Ramona! A meal out well worth it every time! read more

I had breakfast at Kountry Kitchen 826 Main St, Ramona, CA 92065 (b/t 9th St & 8th St). This is a very nice restaurant with tables and booths. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has very nice country decor and is kept very clean, including the restrooms. I ordered the sausage (huge size slices), onion, and cheese omelette (nice and fluffy) special, with oatmeal and a biscuit & gravy. Talk about home made. They even had raisins in the oatmeal. The gravy was really good and coffee was excellent as was the service. The restaurant had quite a few customers and everything I saw on their tables that they ordered looked great. I would like to address some of their few poor reviews-almost all related to service or bad food. They seem to be legitimate however on this review, the server was polite, attentive and very kind. She could not have done a better job. The portions are huge, price is right and yes, they do have a senior menu. The patio dining is great! When visiting Ramona, CA, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant. Good parking behind the restaurant. read more

I believe this place is under new ownership and man does it show... The food was incredible! I came with my wife and 2 kids and everything was top notch!! We came in on a Saturday morning around 9:30 and I'd give the chef way more than 5 stars if I could! Everything he cooked was perfect and so fresh!! The breakfast menu is insane!! And the service was impeccable!! Go check it out!! read more

The food was absolutely delicious! I grabbed the pancakes and my family grabbed the biscuits with gravy and a burrito. Everything came out incredibly fast and the waiter was super sweet! The prices are also very affordable for the amount of food that you're getting which I was able to take quite a bit home. Absolutely recommend! read more

My family has been coming here for years! The wait for food is long, normally it's not a problem. But let me tell you, it is not as it once was. The food used to give you that homemade feeling. Now it like going to Dennys. Lacking flavor and freshness, frozen food vibes. Bacon had an off taste, and was not finished. My family would never leave good bacon behind. Watery eggs, even scrambled. Beef tallow or something was overpowering. Extremely disappointing. Sad to say we won't be returning. read more

Country Kitchen in Ramona has truly stepped up since the new owner took over. The food is amazing, and you can immediately taste the difference in quality and care. The country fried steak is made with real meat, not frozen or overly processed like you'll find at other diners in the area, and it shows. Everything tastes fresh, hearty, and homemade. Even better, they fry in beef tallow, which gives the food incredible flavor and sets them apart from most local spots. They also offer fresh-squeezed orange juice, which is such a nice touch and something you don't often find around here. Ramona has very limited dining options, and unfortunately food quality can sometimes be disappointing. Country Kitchen is a refreshing change. It's clear they're committed to doing things right, and it's making a real difference. Highly recommend supporting this local gem, you won't be disappointed. read more

From the moment i walk in it felt like a welcoming vibe. The waitress was super sweet and genuine. Gave me the right amount of time to decide on what i wanted to order with out being pushy . She suggested the coutry fried potatoes over the hashbrown for my morning breakfast and definitely was the best choice . The food has amazing flavor in my opinion, so worth coming here for a great breakfast meal. I would definitely be coming back when in the area. read more

After along hike to potato chip rock my siblings and I came here for some breakfast. Upon entering and waiting to be seated we were greeted with rolling eyes and nasty stares from the staff. That should've been out first queue to leave. We sat down, ordered out meal and observed maybe the owner/manager going up to every table and asking if they needed anything. Water, coffee refills, napkins. Not once did her come to our table to ask US if anything was needed. Not once was our coffee and water refilled or were asked if we needed anything else. We were treated horribly. I guess the only Hispanics allowed in this establishment are the ones working in the kitchen. So if you are a POC this is not the spot for you! Spend your money on elsewhere! read more

I'm not from this area and looking at the town, my expectations were not the highest. HOWEVER!!! This beat my expectations by so much and I was glad that I was able to try this amazing tasteful restaurant. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns, with a side of country biscuits and gravy. For the amount of food that you get with the order and how great that it tasted, I was suprised that the line wasn't out the door or flooded with people or this place had higher and lots more reviews. The service was amazing too, they were very friendly and attentive to their customers. The inside the restaurant was definitely giving country vibes. If I'm back in the area, I will be coming back each and everytime. Overall, if you read this much I think you should be trying it too!! read more

We had Breakfast/Lunch here and the breakfast was great. Both sandwiches were dry and the Au jus was like water, tasteless. My sandwich was sparsely put together. Bacon minimal and floppy not extra crispy as ordered. Tomato was a tiny piece. Even got the stem of the lettuce, yuck! Last time I ordered the same sandwich it was the best BLT I have ever had. I came in around noon. The place was not full. They sat us down quickly. I waited about 20-25 minutes just to order my food. I waited another hour and I never got a check in or an update. I would look over at the waitress and she would ignore me. After about an hour and a half, I had asked the waitress that I want the check for the drinks. She proceeds to ask me "are you sure your order is after there's?" She pointed to the table behind me which we were sat way before them. I kindly declined and left. It's sad because the food looked great. read more

Went to Ramona to meet some friends for breakfast. We decided on Kountry Kitchen as a change of scenery. I ordered a coffee, and they had Hazlenut creamer! Yum! The steak and eggs were my choice. They came with biscuits and gravy. The food was good, and I definitely had more than I could eat. Wasn't a fan of the country potatoes and would have rather had fries. Next time. read more

Our experience at Kountry Kitchen was delightful and everything was great from the ambiance, service and food. In town visiting family and we took my 97-year old mom to Kountry Kitchen for lunch. There were five of us and everyone loved their food. I had the Ortega Dip with a side of fresh fruit. That sandwich was so delicious and the au jus was very flavorful and not watery/tasteless at all. The fruit bowl was pretty big for a side and full of delicious fresh fruit. I don't remember what everyone ordered but my husband had a build your own omelet that he enjoyed and my mom had a regular french dip with onion rings. I sampled her onion rings as well as my sister's sweet potato fries - VERY good! Great little spot in Ramona! read more

First visit and have to admit right upfront the breakfast was hot, delicious and plentiful! The rest of the visit was sad, it was maybe half full on a Saturday morning and we waited (you will hear this a lot!) for a table as several of the wait staff walked past us before seating us. We were handed 1 menu to share as we were told they were running short. Please explain how you can run short on menus? Drink orders were taken and served, the wife's iced tea was served in tall plastic cup with very little to no ice. Please explain to me why this happens, were we short on ice also? We placed our order, 2 eggs and home potatoes for the wife and Eggs Benedict with home potatoes for me. We waited 23 minutes for food to be served and in that time a couple that came in after us ordered and were served 5 minutes before we got our order. As mentioned before food was excellent for both and at this time the wife requested additional ice (which never came!) the waitress never came back by to check on us. They were not understaffed, just under qualified! Here we go again, please explain why the wait staff while clearing your dishes is asked for the check that I can see plainly in her apron and not present it to you then? We waited for at least 7 minutes for the waitress to bring the check. The food is excellent but the wait staff failed the whole visit, they dropped the ball repeatedly, enjoy the food beware of the sad wait staff!. read more

Updating for dinner service experience. I can see why KK is packed for breakfast and a ghost town at dinner time. They clearly excel at breakfast. I ordered the "Chicken Carbonara". The menu describes it as "al dente spaghetti in creamy parmesan sauce with chicken, bacon, spinach and tomatoes." Unfortunately it was neither spaghetti nor al dente. It was also served nearly room temperature. I will say the overall flavors and presentation were decent and I could tell they tried despite the overcooked pasta. Lots of good freshly grilled chicken. Your mileage may vary but for me the "Pasta Classics" section of their menu will be a hard pass in the future. read more

This is a cozy and casual diner with great food and even greater service! Our group of 8 rolled in on a Sat. afternoon after a day of paintball and we were seated right away. Folks in our group were from San Diego, Manhattan NY, LA, Dallas... and it would be fair to say everyone had extensive experience with good food. So its a big deal when every dish ordered was rated thumbs up delicious! And to think we almost missed this place! Originally, we were going to go to Marinade On Main across the street...the fancy/pretentious farm to table place. The line was out the door and when we asked if there was a wait list we were told there is no list and no estimated time...when a table becomes available someone will come out and call the next in line. Well screw that! We're going across the street to Kountry Kitchen and so glad we did! As I said, our group was seated right away at Kountry Kitchen and our waitress Shannon was so sweet and attentive! She took care of our group and every need was handled quickly. Shannon checked in on us regularly and was pleasant the entire time. I had the fish and chips and asked if they had any cocktail sauce. I was told they did not have any, but the cook will make it fresh for me since they had the ingredients on hand. We were impressed by that level of service and further impressed when the cocktail sauce turned out awesome! All the dishes came out quickly and everything tasted great...we've got some picky critics in our group and everyone left happy! So if you find yourself in the Ramona area you really should dine at Kountry Kitchen for good food and great service...I know we'll be back! read more

Arived at 1215pm. It was busy. It emptied out quickly as the breakfast crowd left. My only complaint was that the table was a mess. Someone had placed a used coffee cup on the table for reuse.
