Came here after my hike to Potato Chip Rock. Food was amazing and the worker was so sweet!! The place did look a little run down though but i can assume because it is a small quiet town. I think what I love the most about Casa Reveles is the homey, welcoming vibe! I don't know about you but I've never been sad in a Mexican restaurant. This place though truly epitomizes joy and hospitality. I have noticed over the years however my tummy getting closer to the booth tables. They're pretty tight unless you're built like Stan Laurel. I've noticed the tables cutting into me like poorly tailored trousers on Lyndon Johnson. Anyway, this time I enjoyed a simple combination plate consisting of two rolled tacos, beautifully dressed, and a tasty tamale. My son ordered the Enchiladas Suizas and he couldn't stop raving about how good it was! Topped with fresh, ripe avocado slices. We ordered 3 kinds of enchiladas, Chile Rellenos, ceviche, and churros. Beans are homemade smashed and refried! Rice isn't as tomato heavy as some places but still flavorful. We also had a "Pancho Villa" margarita and a couple shots of tequila. Their tequila menu has a good variety for a small place that's not a full bar. The best thing about this place was Victor! Oh, and if you use a credit card, please don't even think about the extra 4% charged on the total for that privilege...which they're also making money on! My family was disturbed that the only bathroom was out of order, and when you travel back there you see what a dirty shite hole this place really is. We ended up with a lunch check for $140 for two adults, 2 children. This is not fine dining. Total swindle. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. read more

I visited Casa Reveles on Saturday, July 1 for dinner. My family and I ordered a variety of thing off the menu, and all of us were more than satisfied. I can also recommend the Cadillac Margarita, as I had two of them! I ordered the Molcajete, which came steaming hot, full of nopales, onions, grilled jalapeño, queso fresco, and pico de gallo. For my meats, I got the shrimp and chicken. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the shrimp were delicious. I even ate it the next day, making tacos with corn tortillas. An added bonus is that it comes with the beans done "frijoles charros" style, whole beans in soup with onions, cilantro, and tomatoes, instead of refried. So good! My husband got the Fajitas, with shrimp, chicken, and beef. It was very delicious as well! My mom got the Brisa Del Mar, and she too, had plenty for dinner the next night. She even texted me to talk about how yummy her dinner was. I can say, start your dinner with the guacamole. It is very fresh and delicious. I had high hopes, given the reviews... it was a disappointing night. We were there on a Friday at 7:30 and while the parking lot in back was full, the restaurant only had two other occupied tables. One was a family desperate for their bill; they waited close to 5 minutes and finally walked into the kitchen to ask for it. We didn't see anyone in that time either (we were seated and then left); once the waitress returned with their credit card, I asked if we could order and she was attentive for the remainder of our meal. The chips and guacamole were very good but the menu was uninspiring and food was high mediocre at best. My son ordered the brisas del mar and it was woefully over cooked... the chicken mole was so so and while my Carne asada burrito was flavorful enough, it fell apart within two bites and was just a big blob of food... During the entire meal we listened to raucous laughter and yelling from the kitchen - best guess is that all the cars in the lot belonged to friends of employees and they were all too busy to pay attention to cooking and customers. Two entrees, a burrito, two orders of guacamole (small so had to order two) and one beer was $66 so I can't even say it's a cheap meal; the booth seats are all taped up and it's borderline grungy inside to boot. I have no problem with dives, but I do have a problem paying restaurant prices in a dive and that was the case tonight. I gave two stars only because the waitress was very nice and the food was ok... I certainly can't recommend the place and won't hesitate to avoid a return visit. read more
