Beautiful NEW addition to Julian's food selection. This is a family run restaurant with house made options and a little taste of Julian's famous apple pie to finish off your dining experience! I had a wonderful experience here. The food was delicious. I ordered the chips and salsa/guacamole and the chips were incredible. The buffalo sauce on the wings is unmatched, the chef has absolutely perfected the homemade sauce and it's one to be remembered. The rolled tacos were crisp on the outside and the meat was so tender inside with an array of toppings that were all fresh. The quality shows in every way! As they are a new restaurant, they're working out everything necessary to run a very successful establishment in the heart of Julian! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Will absolutely be returning in the future for that hometown, comforting feeling of a home cooked meal that we all know Julian so well for.

I watched the cook hand my salad to the server, and the salad slid along the bottom of the bottom black shelf (in the photo) on the way out. Very gross. The server then brought it right out to me like nothing happened. Had I not seen it, I never would have known my salad got scraped along the bottom of a dusty shelf. There were also flies everywhere. I think this restaurant is highly unsanitary and the shelf salad was probably the tip of the iceberg.

We were staying in the Lodge across the street and decided we wanted a snack, so De Los Altos Restaurant was open the latest and had the best options for dessert. We chose to share a carrot cake and each ordered a hot chocolate abuelita. Everything was tasty.

Kids never get a soda but today was special!

Beatriz was an excellent server. She welcomed us so warmly and answered all our questions. The food was great & my kids loved it. The music in there was my favorite & we look forward to returning often!!

Service was fine, but they were completely out of carne asada and chicken. The food that they did have was fine.

Service was amazing, so quick to come out with fresh chips and salsa (FRESH! as in they made the chips in-house... rare trait to come by these days IMO). Quantity of food was incredible. I can't speak for the menudo (dad got this) or for the 3 egg platter (not really sure why my mom got this) but $16 for a carne asada burrito as well as the beans, rice, and veggies on the side was such a steal. Especially in Anza Borrego. I would've thought it would maybe be more expensive since it probably costs a lot to bring out the best ingredients in the desert but somehow they have it all figured out. The carne asada burrito meat was top tier. Smoky flavor, soft with charred edges, so flavorful and overall the quantity of the burrito was way more than I was expecting. Lastly, I'm just so happy my dog got to sit outside with us. They have a shaded patio with a couple tables. I think other pet parents followed suit, as this seems to be a hit for dog-friendly spots here in Anza Borrego. I'd highly recommend. What a great find by me. Go me!! This is truly a hole in the wall that needs more recognition. You won't be let down!

Also got one of their specialties, the chicken pot pie. Tasty and satisfying. Finally the apple burger which was good, but the blue cheese overpowered the apples so I cant thoroughly comment on its synergy. We ended it with an apple boysenberry pie with ice cream, which rounded the meal perfectly. Overall, I can confidently say that we will be back to explore the rest of the menu and left with our tummies satisfied to engorgement. A worthy visit if you're feeling a call for the sweet sliced desserts they are known for. Oh and they do sell apple pies by the way As an added note, our server was a pleasure to have and made our meal all the more an experience that we would revisit.

That said, I do want to clarify that, from what I observed, we were not the last table to be seated. I understand it was a busy Fourth of July, and I know everyone can make mistakes. My disappointment wasn't because of the wait alone--it was because my order was incorrect multiple times, and I was eventually asked again what I had ordered even though it was just biscuits and gravy. By the time my food finally arrived, the experience had already been affected. I don't expect perfection, especially on a busy holiday. I simply shared my honest experience and hope it helps improve service for future guests. -------------------- We ordered our food and my friend received her meal, but my order of biscuits and gravy didn't come out correctly. The server acknowledged the mistake, saying it was her fault and that she would get it fixed right away. Unfortunately, the wrong order was brought out, and the staff had to come back and ask what I had originally ordered. It was a simple order--just biscuits and gravy--so it was frustrating that it was difficult to get right. When the correct food finally arrived, the experience had already been delayed and a bit discouraging. At that point, I was honestly just over it, especially when I was asked if I wanted a box, as if we were finished. Overall, the food was fine once it arrived, but the service experience that day was disorganized and left a negative impression.

It was late in the day, just after 2pm before closing at 3pm. They were sold out of couple side items. It was a bit windy that day, so it was very chilly. We started with a cup of creamy tomato soup. That hit the warm cozy spot! We decided on the bbq brisket sandwich with the potato salad. OMG, it was the perfect pairing! The sweetness of the sauce from the brisket and the tangy potato salad. I ate every bite together! I love fries and sweet potato fries, but they were sold out. Staff were super nice! There were still customers coming in for lunch after us. There is a small outdoor patio area where you can eat if you have dogs. Lunch was so yummy!
