I watched the cook hand my salad to the server, and the salad slid along the bottom of the bottom black shelf (in the photo) on the way out. Very gross. The server then brought it right out to me like nothing happened. Had I not seen it, I never would have known my salad got scraped along the bottom of a dusty shelf. There were also flies everywhere. I think this restaurant is highly unsanitary and the shelf salad was probably the tip of the iceberg.

We were staying in the Lodge across the street and decided we wanted a snack, so De Los Altos Restaurant was open the latest and had the best options for dessert. We chose to share a carrot cake and each ordered a hot chocolate abuelita. Everything was tasty.

Kids never get a soda but today was special!

Beatriz was an excellent server. She welcomed us so warmly and answered all our questions. The food was great & my kids loved it. The music in there was my favorite & we look forward to returning often!!

Service was fine, but they were completely out of carne asada and chicken. The food that they did have was fine.

We were not disappointed at all. Upon arriving, there was a musician playing, and they did seat us off to the right so we could not see but could hear still. There is outdoor and indoor seating, but at the time we came it appeared that the outdoor was reserved for an event. We happily sat inside! Having met Jeremy's parents earlier in the day who also recommended his restaurant, and they were just lovely, we had hoped to possibly meet Jeremy too. I wanted to try everything, but we opt on getting a few dishes to share. Our son ordered the filet mignon and they were able to substitute mashed potatoes for fries. Amazing!! The mac & brisket appetizer appeared to be the highlight and specialty and we just had to order it. Every bite was cheeesy and delicious with the brisket very moist. We couldn't go without ordering the Brussels sprouts and it had a twist with ponzu sauce and pineapple. Definitely a different take and I thoroughly enjoyed the taste. Every bite was foodgasmic and I highly recommend!!! I knew coming here that some Yelpers have experienced wavering in quality, so glad we did not experience that at all. As of the date that we came, we understood that the restaurant had been listed for sale, not sure if Jeremy sold it yet or not. I hope not, we plan on coming back this summer!

My daughter's meal was fish and chips and not that great. The prices are high. If you wanna get a steak, it will be $60, thank you. The chairs are hard and it's kind of like a regular restaurant. Feel not the luxurious feel that it was many years ago. Just too pricey for an average restaurant

We stumbled upon this restaurant and ask them if they had an apple pie and they did. This review is based on just their apple pie. Old school diner vibes, pretty simple - in a good way!…read more Our waitress was super friendly. It's tight in there so the place fills up fast. It was easier to seat a party of two than a larger group. But people aren't there to lounge so tables seemed to turn over timely. Not gonna lie, it was hard seeing people who ordered after get their food first. But again, it was packed on a weekend. Nothing fancy going on here, burgers, sandwiches - the usual. I did enjoy the phosphate sodas that you can choose the flavor of. Orange and vanilla was pretty tasty! The California BLT comes with avocado and cream cheese. Putting the cream cheese on the side worked, I tried it and ate it with most of my sandwich. Don't think I needed it it every bite though. Coleslaw was really good! Loved the old toys they have displayed, even picked up some jax for my mom. That's her childhood claim to fame. The train that goes around up-top is fun too! Lots of historical items and pictures. It's an old place that's holding it down. Glad I checked it out.

Friendly staff, good vibes…read moreand great beer selection-- The Stonewall Stout is the bomb! and loved the wet hop IPA selection. Dont know who the brewer is but seems to really love the craft - just look at the description of their Violet IPA: "Brewed with my best friend Brandon Hernandez of SD Beer News in honor of his late Grandmother. Made with Butterfly Pea Flowers with Topaz, Strata, Simoce and Mosaic hops". You wouldn't find this at most larger, non independent breweries!

Most recently, we visited on a Saturday afternoon and were pleased to see Ay Mamma Tacoz ready to serve. Excellent street tacos to wash down the cold beer. So about the beer selection, always plenty of options. Always something new to try. What caught our eye on this visit was the wording on the menu. They had SEVERAL flavors listed as "GR". Turns out that stands for Gluten Reduced. This is huge for us as one of us can't enjoy regular beer due to gluten intolerance. If you happen to be someone with a gluten allergy, but can tolerate some gluten ... Give it a try. Nothing better on a hot day than a cold beer. (They also carry a GF cider or two if beer isn't your thing.) A tip for the fair-skinned is to bring some kind of covering if sitting outside. The sun beats down some days and there is very limited shade. An hour outside in the sun can mean a painful night later. I give it 5 stars because my expectations are realistic. It's not fancy, but it's welcoming, fun and convenient if you're in the area. Worth a try if you've never been.

We stumbled in here by accident because the bbq beer place nextdoor was busy and we were in a hurry and said this Rong-place makes ribs. What a mistake, and they don't even serve beer. We spent $60 on garbage food. The oven-cooked fall-of-the-bones pork ribs were sad, gray, tasteless, and slathered with their "Bumsteer" sauce - a sad attempt to make homemade bbq sauce out of cheap ketchup and vinegar. The sides included a dried out cornbread muffin, sour creamy coleslaw, and homemade baked beans that were basically canned beans in ketchup. Basically inedible. I've seen enough Gordon Ramsey to know this restaurant does not have an actual cook with any culinary experience whatsoever. They should be ashamed selling such garbage (especially with no beer to try to wash it down). I hate wasting $ on garbage. Do yourself a favor and learn from our sad lesson. Bumsteer sauce? Sounds gross, and it is. Also, bumsteer means bad advice

The waiter brought new ones, this time okay, but in all it took over 45 minutes since we had sat at the table. Ordered medium done New York steak. It came well done, actually way overdone that the meat was so dry that it was not chewable. My son ordered bacon and eggs, but the bacon tasted like rancid oil. Wife ordered chicken pot pie, which had almost no chicken. To top it off, the food was crazy slow to come out. My steak took close to 1 hr since sitting down at the table. You know it's bad when tables that arrived after us are getting their food before us. The server was nice and apologetic, but a gesture of compensation would have gone a long way. All around really bad food. I feel bad giving this review but hopefully this helps others.

This was the best meal we've had in a long time. Wife said it was the best pot pie she has ever eaten. My Hot Chicken sandwich had a taste profile that was the right heat and nice flavor balance. Best I've ever eaten. I even brought friends who had never been here before, thinking it could become one of our regular stops when we're out hitting the trails. Instead, it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth... and not just from the food. Waitress: Where do I even start. She claimed she was hard of hearing--but her attitude spoke loud and clear. Tossing menus on the table, aggressively slamming salsa down, and getting snarky over being off because our party count was off by one person. Seriously? It took two seconds to adjust the table, but apparently that was just too much. Yes, she technically did her job... but with such a cold, unwelcoming, and rigid attitude that it made the whole experience uncomfortable. What really stood out? We were there first and ready to order, yet she chose to take care of every smaller table that came in after us. No communication, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just ignored. Basic courtesy clearly isn't part of the service here. And trust me--I used to be a waitress. I handled large parties all the time and actually communicated with my tables. It's not that hard. Honestly, if gratuity hadn't already been forced onto the bill, she would've gotten $0. The only pleasant person we encountered was the busser--quick, friendly, and actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Maybe swap their roles, because he outperformed her by a mile. Food: Let's talk about the food... if that's what we're calling it. Everything came out cold. Not "warm-ish," not "could be hotter"... just straight up cold. It felt like our plates were sitting under a heat lamp for way too long before making it to the table. One "white" friend asked to have her meal fixed--fine, no problem. But when another "Hispanic" friend asked the same thing? Suddenly there was attitude, menu slamming, and mumbling under her breath. So... what exactly was the difference? Why the inconsistency and hostility? If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe management should step in and help instead of letting food die in the window. Just a thought. Final Thoughts: This place had potential... but that waitress single-handedly ruined it. We'll be taking our group (and our money) elsewhere--Dudley's Bakery is looking like a much better option moving forward. I usually bring large groups out here, so this isn't a small loss. Unfortunately, if this is the level of service they're okay with, this place isn't going to improve anytime soon. At this point, it's less "Farmhouse charm" and more "junky barn energy."
