I called them to do a catering experience for my nephew who wanted tacos after his small wedding. He is pescatarian so it was important that the taquero did fish tacos. I called and spoke with Devan and at first he said they don't do parties of 20 when I told him for how many. He then quickly changed his mind and said he would cater our affair after I told him I saw him on Yelp. I was quoted a very fair price which included fish tacos and all the other fixings which come with the tacos. I then told him how we would like to set up for the day and the kitchen and sent him pictures and came to a conclusion to serve in our kitchen and cook out in the front. Before the date I had several emails in which I kept having to repeat my intentions with his wife Maria about set up. On the day of the catering it seemed as though there had never been any conversation of how we wanted things setup. I showed Maria and her granddaughter where we wanted to serve in the kitchen. The tacos were all tasty. Kudos for the fish tacos. They use Red Snapper and fried them in panko crumbs. The Carne asada was chopped the finest I had ever had and tasted no gristle or fat. The adovada was good and the chicken was chicken. Service was fantastic which prepared and serve the food. The family really liked their rice. Be carful with the red salsa, Maria said it was hot and it was! The jalapenos she gives you have a great taste. We had plenty of leftovers as promised. When it came to paying I was quoted a different amount then what I received on the initial quote. It seems Maria sent another quote on the Friday before the Saturday event and there was an increase on that quote. I was not happy that the price had been increased at the last minute as I did not check my email that Friday. I did pay it without issue and my wife was going to send more gratuity until I told her it was included in the price. Please be aware that they do add a 10% Service Fee and a 15% Gratuity with their quote. I'm sure the next experience will be a lot better. Tacos El Gabacho provided excellent food for our combined garden grad party. Everyone said how good the food was, which is really important when you're serving a crowd of friends. The pricing was also very competitive. There were a few things that could have gone better, and I note them here in the hopes of being helpful and encouraging future customers (and the vendor) to be mindful of them. They are all things involved in communication and can be remedied. One thing was we had hoped to have the food set up in our back yard, and I communicated this early on in the quote process. I offered measurements of our yard gates but was assured they could go to the back yard. (I figured they had a way of cooking on tables rather than their (cute) cart.) When they arrived the cart could not fit in the party yard. They offered to cook food in the driveway and transport and serve it in the back/party yard. In the end we managed to get the cart into the side yard and it worked out fine, just not as I had hoped/planned. Another issue was that the food was meant to be served from 6-8 but wasn't actually ready until more like 7. Again, not a deal breaker, but to be considered. Lastly, though the deposit payment went well, the final payment process was snafu'd and stressful (for me). I would suggest that future customers request a payment "request" from the vendors. That's it -- food was really good and a good price, the communication could be better. PS - one extra issue -- it would seem that something (grease from cooking?) was spilled or poured behind the cart, in a pebbly area where the dogs have access to. My lab spent a good amount of time licking the ground before I realized what was going on. She "expelled" a lot of rocks she must have eaten while licking the ground. Devan catered our baby shower this weekend and we were very pleased. He was early and set up an impressive amount of stuff super quickly and started cooking. The two hour serving period was more than enough for our 30 or so sized group and people were stuffed and we were left with lots of leftovers we are still enjoying. I was especially impressed by the fresh tortillas he made right there. For meats, the carne asada was my favorite but I also liked the adobada. The chicken was a little more bland in comparison. The beans were salty and flavorful and there were a ton. The salsas were great but I think some people could have used a milder option than they had for red salsas. Highly disappointed. They were an hour late to our wedding event and started food service 2 hrs late. Yes, our location was remote, but we told them on several occasions via email/text/phone to add extra time for their travel... yet they failed to do so and proceeded to blame us for not telling them. They brought new trainees who had never even worked a taco cart before. They were unapologetic, rude, and overall provided terrible service. There was plenty of food to go around, but that is in part because they limited the guests to 3 tacos and were skimpy on the amount of meat they provided. We were then left with more than 20lbs of leftovers... Oh, and they failed to provide to-go containers to put the leftovers in. We were lucky enough to be able to use containers from the venue to temporarily store the leftovers, but we had no way to bring it home so it was left behind for the venue staff to eat. The food itself was "okay" but honestly not near as good as the one we sampled when we choose them to cater our wedding. To top it off... they increased the gratuity on the bill that night (which we clearly declined) and then 2 days later claimed a mathematical error (of which they provided no evidence of outside of just their request) for us to pay an additional $137 dollars. We again told them no and informed them of this review that they would be receiving... to which they have still yet to respond. Honestly, if you are looking for a caterer for your event... We booked Tacos El Gabacho for a milestone birthday celebration. Maria and Devan were personable and easy to work with in the process. I'm a TOTAL novice at using caterers and probably asked quite stupid questions. I certainly needed a lot of hand-holding along the way. I found them more responsive by phone and text communication than by email. Regardless, they adjusted our order to exactly what I wanted and we only had 25 people in attendance. I was hoping they'd be able to set up in our backyard, but the cart couldn't fit through our gate, so driveway it was. They made it look so nice and official that some of our neighbors came by, wanting to buy tacos! The smells wafting around the neighborhood were great. We had a lot of kids in attendance and so they made quesadillas an option. My younger daughter loved the horchata especially. ;) My very favorite items turned out to be the beans and the freshly made (on site) tortillas. I mean, who does that?! It was awesome. My only complaints (and please notice that they're insufficient to knock off even a single star) is that I'm very picky about any gristle or excess "texture" in my meats ... and the carne asada had some of that. That wasn't to my taste. But my guests seemed entirely pleased. Oh, and we added cooked veggies to our order to accommodate for vegetarians and I didn't think they were well-seasoned enough. Still, the salsas, cilantros, and guac could compensate for that. I hope we get to work with Maria and her team again. They helped me package up leftovers and we have TONS remaining. Wow. Absolute last minute decision to have a taco caterer for Cinco de Mayo which was on a Wednesday this year. I reached out to them on Monday and on Wednesday, they were there on time, ready to serve 40 people! I know that yelp sometimes flags and deletes "over-complimentary" reviews so I'd only say I would have liked the line to move a little quicker for everyone since were were planning on talking to them after the meal but didn't get the chance and maybe have ice set out for the horchata and jamaica (although I didn't specifically request this). I really, really appreciate good Mexican food and the fact that they make the tortillas right there, the meat is so tender and well seasoned (not over seasoned) there was plenty of food for everyone, plus leftovers. The carne asada was possibly the best I've ever had. Pricing was very clear and I had everything I needed to submit to get reimbursed. Everyone left fat and happy! read more

The only reason for three stars was they forgot the cheese. I had a few vegetarians that I told them they could have quesadillas. They instead had to eat lots of dessert and another dish I had. I hired this company based off of reviews and not recommendations. I'm very surprised about all of the reviews, because we had a very poor experience and it's only getting worse. I'm writing this review because I think there are important things people should know before hiring them. First know that you will not be informed before hand that you will need a 5 foot wide fence to fit their taco truck in your backyard. Before the event I spoke with the owner on the phone, we emailed back and forth several times and this was never mentioned. I had no choice but to let them set up in my driveway on the day of the party and that was an issue for us for many reasons. There were many complaints about the food. From the beans being way too salty, to the tortillas having a weird texture. The tortillas were so thick and felt more like pancakes. The meat was very fatty and did not taste like good quality. The meat had a weird texture and tasted like a dirty grill. I paid for real Agua Frescas, but instead the drinks tasted like we were provided watered down powder mix horchata and Jamaica in old plastic containers. When I mentioned the issue with the beans to the older cook, he seemed irritated and offended. He said "one person said they are too salty, but another thinks they are fine. I already put more water in them." I'm sorry, but adding more water to already overly seasoned beans is not going to take care of the problem. I expected them to remake them, or even provide some store bought ones. Anything that we could actually eat. The older gentlemen also made a few rude and sarcastic comments to the guest about ordering too much food. For instance, my brother ordered a good amount of tacos. The cook made a comment about the amount he was ordering. My brother was embarrassed and explained that he was ordering for himself, his wife and kids. I went to the cook and asked if we happened to run out of food if we could just pay for more. So that way he didn't have to make comments to the guest. (This was at the beginning before I personally knew what the food tasted like.) He said "we brought food for 50 people. That's it." I understand the cook needed to make sure we had enough to last, but this should have been handled a different way. By now they should have some plan, or script in place instead of humiliating the guest. I was very uncomfortable addressing anymore of my concerns with him, so I thought I would just address them later with Maria (the owner and lady I spoke with over the phone who I believe is his wife). None of the guest wanted leftovers so we had a lot of food left. I took the leftovers because I didn't want to offend the cooks, but honestly...we just had to throw it all away. We ended up ordering pizza for everyone. The younger cook cooking the meat was very nice and professional, but the older gentlemen making the tortillas made me uncomfortable. He was moody. The canopy they use is also very dirty so be aware incase you plan to use them for a more formal, or elegant event. I wrote a long email in English and Spanish to the owner Maria addressing the issues we had. As a business owner myself, I thought it could be useful information. I was not rude at all, but just honest. and informative. Her only reply to my email was "Venmoe today please!" We had an issue with the check that they tried to cash right after the event so I will send her a venmoe today. A waste of $822 dollars to feed 50 people. The service was poor and the food was not good. I honestly feel bad saying all of this, but it's the truth and customers should know that there are better options out there. UPDATE: Maria says I owe $860, but that I paid $811. I posted photos of contract and Venmo amount sent to prove she's either mistaken or lying. I owed $822 and I paid $822 which I already told her through Venmo. They seriously need an accountant cause they are all over the place. ‍ Now I see in her reply to my review that she is claiming I had 80 people at my party instead of 50. ‍ We had PLENTY of food left over. How would that be possible if there were that many people? I don't think we even had 50 guest and half of the guest were kids. How could she claim that if she wasn't even at my party and why would she barely be mentioning this now? I honestly can't imagine how much worse this company can get. I have emails back and forth from either Maria, or her husband Deven displaying their lack of concern for customer service and their only interest which is $$$. Terrible. ‍ read more
