This place is a must whenever we're in town. My partner and wanted to come back here. Since the last time we dropped by here, customer service was impeccable. The owner was so lovely and helpful. We ordered another special custom made burrito and also their quesadilla. You can't beat their prices. The portion you get for the price is truly remarkable, esp in this economy. We were so delighted with the food. Everything tasted great, came out fresh and hot. Most importantly, the customer service was on point and the two lovely young ladies were SO NICE and friendly. They gave us everything we needed! They checked on us a few times as well. Comforting food, and definitely a hidden gem. Cozy little place to have a nice lunch. They're always so nice here and the food taste great! Unbeatable prices. You won't be disappointed. Come to Veronica's! 10/10! :)

Great Food

The food, service, and atmosphere is wonderful. But the food in general is why I'm writing this review. We came all the way from El Cajon to try this place because we drove past it one time expecting not so good food since it was in the middle of no where. But after that first bite we underestimated it. The chicken was juicy and tender, the beef was freshly charred and tender, and the adobada was flavorful. No complains about this place. Highly recommend!

Buenolos, like a banana split, but on churro puffs. Yummy way to wrap up a meal. Shrimp tacos, still epic.

I had received so many recommendations to try out Veronica's and it did not disappoint. I've been coming here for the last few months and you're guaranteed to always be greeted with the warm smile and absolutely amazing food. Veronica makes her meals with love.

We started coming here because our family photographer (XO Kim -- check out my review!) highly…read morerecommended it, and it has become our tradition after every photo session for about five years. Enticing our kids with the animals at XO Ranch and then grabbing food at Descanso Junction has been our routine that just works. It has made taking family pictures a better experience. We always bring our dogs to the photo shoot and sit outside on the patio at Descano Junction Restaurant. We have enjoyed sitting outside. There is a wooden chair that my kids love squishing themselves into. At night they have garland lights. Unfortunately the laat time we came the heater did not have gas and we were freezing. My two younger kids still opted to eat with us because they wanted to eat with our dogs and sit in the chair. Portions here are generous and priced well. Honestly, I could probably share with my youngest, but since it's a bit of a drive for us, we each get our own dish and take home leftovers. Some menu items are served only at certain times and days, so plan around that. Service has always been consistently good -- friendly and attentive, even when we're seated on the patio with the dogs. They sell dog friendly burger patties for $5.99. Our Favorite Items Smaller Bites These come with two sliders and one side. We've tried all the options and have zero complaints. Burgers My kids love the burgers here. They're a great size and always come out juicy. We order them Medium to Medium-Well. For sides, you can pick fries, potato salad, or coleslaw, or pay extra for battered onion rings, soup, or a salad (I usually upgrade). Favorites for my family: * Traditional * Bacon Cheeseburger * Ultimate Burger My favorite burger is the Mushroom Burger I'm a mushroom lover, and this one is always cooked perfectly. Taco Salad Huge. I order it with Carne Asada and it's delicious every time. BBQ Combo: You can create your own combo. Options: Jack Daniel's Tri Tip Saint Louis Style Pork Ribs Smoked Pulled Pork Desserts I'm a dessert person. I don't have a must eat here but its a good way to end the meal. We have tried the brownie, cheesecake and apple pie. If you're in the area, definitely check this place out. Great portions, fair prices, tasty food, and consistently good service. And don't forget to walk around the shops on the same lot afterward.

Had our own window side booth by the window. "Stay as long as you like," she said. Get the taco salad - huge crispy edible bowl packed throughout with chunks of grilled chicken and surprises at every level like avocado slices cheese and refried beans at the base--if you make that far! The cowboy and highway biking decor was perfect to recharge our enthusiasm for the endless mountain climb to Julian. She said watch out for rattle snakes!

We…read morewere greeted and seated by a very friendly young lady, who recommended the outdoor dining area behind the restaurant--and it was a great call. The space was really nice, and the weather made it even better. We started with chips and guacamole, both of which were excellent. The chips were clearly made fresh, not the usual bagged stuff, and it showed. The aguas frescas were also made from scratch. We tried the horchata and jamaica, and both tasted incredibly fresh and so good. I even asked the owner to confirm, and he backed it up, our taste buds didn't lie. For our meals, we had the chicken tinga enchiladas, which were amazing, like something mom used to make. We also tried the veggie tacos, and they were just as good. The nopales were especially impressive. The service was extremely friendly, the food was great, and the location made the whole experience even better. Looking forward to coming back, thank you!

We did not order any alcohol. I would describe both meals as competent. Nothing out of the ordinary. Good salsa. Portions were about right. Pricing was probably normal for Julian but heart stopping for Orange County restaurants. Would we eat here again on another visit to Julian? Probably. Maybe we would just get some big slices of pie for dinner and watch our blood sugars rise.

Service was amazing, so quick to come out with fresh chips and salsa (FRESH! as in they made the chips in-house... rare trait to come by these days IMO). Quantity of food was incredible. I can't speak for the menudo (dad got this) or for the 3 egg platter (not really sure why my mom got this) but $16 for a carne asada burrito as well as the beans, rice, and veggies on the side was such a steal. Especially in Anza Borrego. I would've thought it would maybe be more expensive since it probably costs a lot to bring out the best ingredients in the desert but somehow they have it all figured out. The carne asada burrito meat was top tier. Smoky flavor, soft with charred edges, so flavorful and overall the quantity of the burrito was way more than I was expecting. Lastly, I'm just so happy my dog got to sit outside with us. They have a shaded patio with a couple tables. I think other pet parents followed suit, as this seems to be a hit for dog-friendly spots here in Anza Borrego. I'd highly recommend. What a great find by me. Go me!! This is truly a hole in the wall that needs more recognition. You won't be let down!

They gave my son's and I meal to another table, gave my husband's his (on a cracked plate); didn't refill waters, and didn't give any feedback on when our meals would come out. After 50 minutes since arriving, still not getting our food - we took my husband's to go and decided to get lunch elsewhere.
