Recently it was my first experience eating here and it was quite delicious. As a big fan of casinos and steak and seafood, this was right up my alley and it did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is pretty large, with a nice bar area in the front for more casual dining than 2 other dining areas in the back. They also had the biggest fireplace I've ever seen which was unique. The staff here are very professional, cordial and efficient, and the kitchen did a good job on plating. To the best part - the food. Really excellent menu that made it hard for me to pick. After much deliberation, I ordered the crab cakes that were much larger than I expected and filled with crab and probably one of the tastiest crab cakes I've had. I stayed on the seafood route and ordered the Atlantic sea scallops with pancetta and mushrooms. And again, the scallops were larger than I expected and I really enjoyed this dish. My dining companion went the turf route and got the filet mignon, and lucky me, I got to try it and was pretty solid and cooked perfectly. The worst steakhouse of all time . I showed up on a Thursday with my significant other ,we wanted to eat good . Big mistake our steaks were completely wrong when they arrived . Then I had to wave down the waitress every time I needed something,I literally had to turn around and break my neck when she approached the table when I called her . She suppose to stand in front of me and take an order . We were treated like they were doing us a favor . I sent my steak back to cook longer something I never do . And when it came back I ordered my check and paid and left food there. I would never eat food that was sent back but I did it to prove à point . While visiting the Viejas has casino we ate dinner at the Grove steakhouse. We were about 10 minutes early for a reservation and had to sit at the couches while we waited although the restaurant did not seem busy at all, and there was a group of staff just hanging around the hostess stand. When we were taken to our table, we still noticed how empty the restaurant was, but we figured they waited to see us to space out service for the kitchen. We ordered two cocktails (not pictured) which were very delicious and we enjoyed very much. For dinner we ordered a New York strip and a Chilean Seabass, and in the meantime, enjoyed complementary bread and an appetizer of what seemed like meats and cheese you will get at a Trader Joe's or Vons charcuterie, set and put together. Our dinner, however, was very delicious. I especially love to Chilean Seabass. It had a very bright flavor. The New York strip was also good, but tougher to chew in some other parts compared to others. For dessert, they gave us a complementary truffle which was exquisite. If you are visiting the casino, I recommend you stop here for a meal. read more

Just visited after their remodel, and I must say -- the space is absolutely stunning. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and effortlessly elegant, and being seated by the fireplace added a lovely touch. We all started with salads, and every single one of us enjoyed them -- crisp, fresh, and perfectly composed. The entrees, unfortunately, didn't quite live up to the same standard. My guest ordered steak, and while I'm not a meat eater myself, they noted it wasn't properly aged and were left underwhelmed. I tried the Bok Choy Curry Chilean Seabass -- beautifully presented, but the execution fell short. The fish itself was very fishy, and the curry sauce overpowered it, creating a combination that simply didn't work. My glass of wine also seemed a bit off, perhaps having been open too long, but I didn't comment. Service was leisurely, and our two-hour dinner did feel a touch prolonged. On the bright side, the bread was phenomenal, and the lobster mac & cheese was an absolute standout. I've dined here before, and the food has always been excellent, so I'm willing to chalk this experience up to an off night in the kitchen. I should've gone to a Chili's. If fine dining and a swanky atmosphere is your thing then this is for you but to the average commoner this place is so bland. We came celebrating my birthday and it was my first and last time here, it wasn't even a full house and yet food took longer than 20 minutes to get it to the table. I figured proportions would be small and prices sky high and i was right. I had ordered the Roasted Mushroom Parpadelle and it looked okay but eating it was a battle of flavors that conflicted with one another; you had heavy umami mixed with sweet and tangy, didn't sit well on my palate. Just waiting for the food to come out was like waiting for paint to dry on the wall. I was unlucky to get the cake as they had no more and got ice cream instead, i was expecting a big happy birthday like chilis does and got the bare minimum. We came here for Valentine's Day and it was just ok. I much preferred the older location that was more intimate. The newly expanded restaurant has a cafeteria feel. Almost too spacious and nothing unique about it 1/5. Our server wasn't the friendliest, we felt extremely rushed to order and pay our bill 2/5. Appetizer- beets and salad 4/5. This was good. Nice fried cheeseballs. 10 oz filet mignon 4/5. Cooked properly, decent flavor. Garlic mashed potatoes 5/5. The highlight with their creaminess. Sea bass 3/5. This was Asian inspired with bok choy, mushrooms, and udon noodles. The fish was cooked perfectly, the rest of the dish was extremely sweet with the sauce they pour over. Wine menu 3/5. I wish they had more interesting wines by the glass instead of a commercial Justin Cabernet. The bottle prices were very reasonable. The Grove Steakhouse in Viejas exceeded our expectations. First of all, the place is massive and very clean. Loved that we got seated in the corner to kind of getaway from the busy casino floor. Everyone who helped us that night was great, 5 stars for all of them! They went above and beyond to help celebrate my mom's birthday dinner. We started with the free bread service- which were all really excellent options in terms of just bread! The night started with an order of crab cakes [$18] which came with two medium pieces and six Oyster Rockefellers [$23]. Both apps were good, nothing to rave about, though. The stars of the shows were our entrees which are all the meats! I ordered a 8oz petite filet [$48] and was cooked to a perfect medium. Honestly, those cuts are hard to cook, but The Grove got it correct. I opted for a side of mushrooms [$9] and that was a really great choice. Super flavorful and came with plenty to share. Tried the lobster macaroni [$14] and that too was rich and creamy! Topped off the night with a free dessert for my mom's bday which we all shared. Dined here for brunch yesterday. It's awesome that the steakhouse serves brunch on Sat & Sun. They appeared to have relocated from one spot to another inside Viejas Casino. We were seated almost immediately upon arrival and was given a pallete cleanser after ordering -- it was a cucumber with cream cheese and a peach slice. We shared the following: King Crab Benedict (4/5): good. There was a decent amount of king crab. There could have been a little bit more seasoning, but still good. The breakfast potatoes that came with it were solid. Cinnamon Roll French Toast (3/5): I love French toast and it's always one of my top brunch entrees to order. On our way back from San Diego to Arizona we stopped by chance. It was a great experience . We weren't sure if we could get in with more casual attire but it was Ok . We weren't looking for a long meal so made some simple chooses but all the plates coming out looked very tasty and well presented. The Mac n cheese had a good portion of lobster . The flavor was tasty but I would have like the cheese portion to be a bit smoother and creamier . The oils were a bit more separating as it cooled . The Bison was very tasty, lean and cooked well . The purple sweet potato sauce was very unique.. the nice part was the service . All the staff were lovely and very attentive dive . The entrance to this steakhouse is beautiful. The host greeted us so warmly and is the best host experience I've had. The host asked us if we had a players card for the casino. I had one, but hubs didn't and he said he would go get him one from inside the casino. He made that very convenient for us. He sat us down and told us the name of our server and was very kind. The waiter came over and addressed us by our names and made us feel special in the restaurant. We ordered two chambord drinks that were very good. They brought out bread with salted butter and apricot butter along with an Amuse-bouche. It was bacon wrapped bell pepper with cream cheese that was a perfect bite to start off with. I ordered the lobster bisque that was very tasty. They brought out a mango sorbet to cleanse our palate before the entrees. I ordered the chicken that was perfect and not dry. The veggies and rice with it were good as well and the flavors were all great. Hubs ordered the short rib with mashed potatoes and asparagus which were all cooked well and had great flavor. One of the bussers accidentally took my unfinished lobster bisque that I was planning on taking home, so the waiter had a new one made for me and brought it out already in a to go container. Came here for the first time on a Wednesday night and was treated to a dinner with some friends. We came in and they sat us down quickly. The interior was very nice but the table was very small and it felt very clustered when they brought all the dishes out (didn't order that much for 4 people). Service: The service here was alright but our waiter was very slow even thought there was only 5 other groups eating. Food took forever to come out and it also took a while to pay the bill as our waiter did not come back for a whole 10 minutes. They cleaned up the utensils and dishes before the main entrees were out and had a nice refreshing palate cleanser gelato for us which was a nice touch. Food: The porterhouse steak was the star of the show and was one of the best steaks I have had. Asked for it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. SUPER tender and melt in your mouth with a great seasoning on the outside. The filet mignon was also good with a great seasoning on the outside as well but it was a little too salty for me. I was pretty disappointed in the sides as the lobster mac & cheese was bland and had only a few bits of lobster in it. The truffle frites were also a huge let down as they tasted a little stale and had very very little truffle taste on them. They were also bland and lacked salt, just not a good fry. Not too impressed by everything we skipped dessert. I would only come here again on a special occasion and just for the steaks. That porterhouse is single-handedly keeping the review at 3 stars. We stayed at the Viejas hotel to celebrate a professional accomplishment (I'll share that on the hotel YELP ) and booked reservations based on recommendations from employees of the hotel. We weren't sure since OF COURSE it's the most expense restaurant here. When we arrived they seated us right away. Very nice ambiance. Classy and clean, but not stuffy. Full bar, fireplaces, lots of booths and tables. (Be sure to ask for a booth if it's just two of you, when you book the resi) We were a little taken back that it took a good 6-7 mins to even be greeted by anyone - or offered water. And ANOTHER 10 mins before our server ever came by. That service was lacking for "4 diamond" dinning. We started with crab cakes.... I'll be honest. We are seafood snobs. We found these to be "good" but nothing we would rave about. I'd say 6.5 or 7 out of 10. We likely would not order them again. The complementary bread basket was a 7-8/10 - it had 3 variety's of rolls. They were warm and came with 2 different butters which was fun!! I ordered the 10 ounce filet since it was only $7 more than the 8oz. I ordered it medium. IT WAS DELISHHHHHH and cooked to perfection!!! I got all 4 sauces and BY FAR the chimichurri and the béarnaise were amazing and the beat. TBH the other 2 were gross. Hubby ordered the Cap ribeye. Medium. Also cooked PERFECT!! it was melt in your mouth kind of cut!! The steaks were the STAR of the show!! Sides- asparagus(yuck- there were HUGE spears... we sent them back) Lobster Mac and cheese- I said 9/10.... Could use a little more lobster and a bit of salt/pepper. My hubs said to him it was basic and he rates it 6/10. It's a small portion but enough to share. Wish I tried the brussel sprouts!! The steak was so good we would return just for that. I'm finally back, but it's obvious that this spot is better than ever! This is the first time I've been to their newer location within the casino. The restaurant is more spacious, and their service is now boujee focused, which was unexpected but certainly pleasing. Onto the important part, the food! Amuse-bouche: this shrimp tostada was definitely a mouth amuser. The shrimp was tender, and the aioli added creaminess. The tostada shell was stale and prevented a perfect bite. Oyster Rockefeller ($23): pure perfection. Creamy, cheesy, crispy, with zesty lemon already added, 5/5 stars! Calamari ($13): seasoned, but the breading was too light for an unsatisfying and negligible crunch. 3/5 stars. Palate cleanser: this lime sorbet did the trick, as our taste buds have been reset. Bone-in Ribeye Steak 14oz ($75): perfection! Extremely juicy, tender, and a delight in each bite. Was succulent and one of the best ribeyes I've had thus far, 5/5 stars! Peach Cheesecake ($12): you must save room for dessert! This has a balanced sweetness with a perfect creamy texture. The toppings take it to the next level, 4/5 stars. For a place that charges $50-$85 for a steak, I'd expect better quality food and service and for them to also make our steak correctly. My father-in-law ordered his steak medium, and it came out well done. We waited an hour for 2 entrees, 2 appetizers and a salad so we really didn't want to wait even longer for them to remake the steak, so he just ate it anyway. I ordered steamed clams and there was barely any meat, and whatever meat there was, was so tiny. I could fit 3 pieces of clam on a fork. It was basically $22 for shells and broth. I complained to the manager twice. The 2nd time, he asked what I wanted him to do about it and I said take it off my bill. He reluctantly did so. When we were ready to go, we couldn't find our waiter. We went to the host and asked if we could get our check and she said we had to wait for our waiter to bring it. I always look forward to our dinner at The Grove. We start with the shrimp appetizer. The shrimp are sooo big and not mushy! These are the best shrimp I've had ever! Our bread bowl was warm and delicious. They serve it with both a flavored and regular butter. The lobster bisque is great! Then we split a Caesar salad or a wedge salad. They split it for you. Since it's a steakhouse I recommend ordering the steak. The filet mignon, porterhouse, and ribeye are very good, but our favorite is the ribeye cap steak. Yum! The separate sides are okay. We order the mushrooms, asparagus or the green beans. I think the mushrooms are the best out of those three. At the end they give you a truffle. Service is good - although there's one waitress that could be a little more friendly. The other waitstaff are stellar. The new restaurant is more spread out. It's quiet and elegant. I'm so happy that today I was able to get in for really good food and top notch customer service. It was very busy since it's a weekend and this is one of the popular spots to eat at in Viejas Casino, it was fully committed. However, the manager Rafael came through for my family and I. He accommodated us for this evening before we had to leave. This is one of the best managers I have encountered with such a nice classy steakhouse. He made sure we were happy and kept checking in on us! He really made our day, especially since we haven't been in years really since my grandmother passed away few years ago. This would be her fav place to dine after she finished gambling :). So it brought back memories for sure. Not only was Rafael good but our waitress and busboys were very attentive as well. We had the pleasure to be served by Tony and she was very easy going and the order was right! You know what that means? No complaints for me honey, oh no, several points for The Grove Steakhouse! The hostess was also so sweet and welcoming, you know customer service makes me very content and return. So let me get to the ..FOOD :) I ordered the Caesar salad and Mary's free range chicken with a baked potato which I substituted since I dislike red rice. You can substitute which is always a plus to me as a customer. Accommodating is a win for me! They even gave us little complimentary samples to try that was not on the menu. The tortilla chips with chicken was my fave and the lemon sorbet. The food was delicious and I was full :) The decor was really nice and very classy, upscale, and trendy. I like the seating tables as well very cumffy seating they offer. Outside before entering is a cocktail bar that you can also order from your table. Since it's in a Casino the ambiance is a good vibe and still have opulence at the same time. Unfortunately, it's not a restroom located inside the restaurant but the closes is the one if you walk out to the casino to the right, which not quite that far for sure. I recommend using the restroom before you sit or after:) Overall, I will be back for sure been coming here for years, and I have never been disappointed with the service or food. We celebrated my partner's birthday today with a delicious dinner, and it started at 5:00 PM. It had a beautiful atmosphere!!! It was warmly lit and decorated in a sea green color, with white tree branches at each end of the restaurant. We were given our choice of table, as we were the first patrons inside of the restaurant that night. We had a great server, Taylor. She was a delight, and she took our order to our specific specifications. She took the order and made sure that it was carried out right. We began with Sparkling Evian Water, and moved to a Jumbo Cocktail Platter. After our appetizer, I had a Lobster Bisque, and my partner had a Seasonal Salad. We were given a sorbet to cleanse our palate. I ordered Salmon, and Macaroni and Cheese with Lobster. Specifically, I asked for it to be grilled and to come with no trimmings, and it did. As for my partner, he ordered an 18 oz Bone In Rib Eye Steak, with Baked Potato and Mexican Corn. He asked for it to be well done. Everything was carried out just right!!! Finally, my partner was given a slice of Birthday Cake, with a candle; AND WAS BROUGHT OUT ON A PLATE WITH VERY, VERY NICE HAPPY BIRTHDAY WRITING ON IT!!! My great aunt has a yearly turn around at the Viejas Casino. When my family goes on this trip , we love to eat at this steakhouse that's located inside the casino. Today, it was hard to get reservations , however, the Assistant Manager Rafael accommodated us. He was so gracious and kind. We explained to our waiter "Tony" we needed to get in and out due to our bus leaving at 7pm. She made sure we got are food on time in order to make the bus. She was very helpful and knowledgeable in the today's specials. I have been here several times over the years and each time the food is delicious and well seasoned. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful with upscale modern decor. Everyone who works there from the greeters to the bus boy are very nice. I will always go to this restaurant when in town. Thanks Rafael for the great customer service. We appreciate you. The bar area outside is very nice and the bartenders makes good drinks. This restaurant is a great place for a date, family night, bday, anniversary, etc. The prices are very reasonable too and they give a discount if you gamble with your Viejas point reward card. They give you two small complimentary items with your order one appetizer and one dessert appetizer. :) They have a few more restaurants located inside the casino that are very good too. This highly rated steakhouse is located in the Viejas casino so it's 21 years or older only steakhouse. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with table cloth, wide aisles and comfortable seating. It's completely closed off to the casino so it's an intimate, relaxing atmosphere without blaring slot machine noises. Great! The 10 oz filet mignon, Oscar style with a lobster tail side cost a pretty penny but if you have silver or higher players club discounts, it's reasonable. Silver rating or higher is needed however bronze level gets you no discounts. So you need about 20,000 in points to get silver which takes a while to gather. Buyer beware to pay full price. The filet was slightly over cooked to medium well, but it was still super tender and the flavor was magnificent. It rivaled Ruth's Chris and Morton's level steak. Lots of melted butter was on the side was awesome. Service here was good and we had many courses that continued to come steadily. The waitress brought small "in between treats" between courses like a spoonful of sorbet. It was a nice touch. We celebrated with a birthday cake at the end of the dinner. Final thought: if Ruth Chris, Flemings or Morton is priced about the same and much closer to home, I will choose those places first. If you have silver level or higher in players discounts, then the Grove could be a good option. I was bumped down to bronze so full price was my only option. Heard this place was the place to go to for dinner and really bummed that it wasn't very good. The interior is nice and the waitstaff was lovely but the food was very bland. I'll break it down: Lamb chops and polenta: I personally thought the lamb chops were dry as was the polenta. My partner didn't mind them though. We both agree it was the better item we ended up having. The porterhouse: there was oddly no flavor to this. I could tell they seasoned it with pepper but I'm not sure if they had it in a pan of water before but couldn't taste any juicy-ness. Frites: we were at the cabana before we ended up going to dinner here and sadly these French fries were the exact same ones we got there. They were not seasoned and not crispy. Mashed potatoes: whipped to perfection but again sadly no flavor. It's like they weren't seasoned, oddly. Poor service, asked for drinks multiple times before getting them. Enjoyed the mini appetizer they brought, but all food after that was horrible. I ordered the Caesar salad and seafood pasta (I had too much red meat this week). The salad was all wilted and limp. The dressing was good, but a good dressing with bad produce still makes it bad. Then came the pasta, 45 minutes later when they weren't that busy. The seafood in the dish was cooked decent, however, the cream sauce in the pasta was...interesting. Was it a creamy Alfredo, yes. But the Alfredo tasted like it had sap or syrup in it I had 2 bites and then stopped. Wanted to complain but we hadn't seen our server in almost 30 minutes. To be fair, dinner here is very good, and this review only has to do with brunch. I was very unimpressed. Service was inattentive, food was mediocre. I expected more from such an expensive restaurant. Really hard to believe this is the same restaurant. read more

We had reservations so we were seated promptly. Our waitress (Toni) was amazing! So attentive and charming! The food from beginning to end was DELICIOUS! I forgot to take a pic of the dessert (Creme Brulee) but everything else as you can see was perfectly cooked and presented! Always a meal to remember! read more

We have been coming to the grove for years and have always had a great dinner! Last night we went again to celebrate 29 years of marriage. 1st table we sat at was absolutely freezing cold, had to move to another table. We ordered the calamari for appetizer, came to us cold and isn't the original recipe. My wife ordered the 10 Oz filet, meat was great but the Oscar sauce was the consistency of pudding very disappointing. Also she ordered the scallops which came cold and almost the same seasoning as shake and bake horrible!! My bone in Ribeye was great but ordered the lobster mac it had 2 little pieces of lobster in it!! Staff was great and we did have fun but restaurant has gone severely down hill since last year!!
