OK...DC Cobbs...I see you. I was totally unimpressed in my first few times to DC Coobs last year, pretty much wrote them off. I needed a place to do some laptop work and it was convenient. I ordered the Jalapeño Poppers from the app menu. They were simply perfect...stuffed with cheese and chorizo / wrapped in bacon. I will order these every time! Must try!! I sat on the outside patio near the water and it was really nice and relaxing. Service was great! I called my wife and she came down and had the boom boom shrimp. She enjoyed them as well. i went to dc cobbs tonight with my family to celebrate my sons birthday. Faith, our server was absolutely wonderful! she always updated us on how much longer the food would be and continuously checked on us to make sure we were okay. she was great with our children, she gave my kids fun straws, and went out of her way to ask my son his favorite color so she could put candles on the apple pie egg rolls for his birthday! i have never had a server that outgoing, fun, attentive and compassionate to me or my children. that was the best service we have ever received, we will be back and ask for her every time! read more

We went for a very delicious brunch. I had heard raves about the corned beef hash and it was delicious!! Big chunks of corned beef and potatoes with a splash of cream. Really good. My husband had very wonderful biscuits and gravy. And we had to order a side order of perfectly cooked pork belly. Every thing we ordered was great! In the course of our brunch the kitchen manager stopped by to see how our food was and ask if we had any suggestions. Shortly after, one of the owners came by as well to check in. Went there for lunch on Saturday around 11:00. Not busy as they had just opened and got seated immediately. Our waitress Tina was phenomenal. We've been fortunate enough to have had her as our waitress before and her service is top notch. She was knowledgeable, friendly and very attentive. We ordered (and split) Buffalo Cauliflower, Spinach Dip, Hart Italian Beef and homemade twix bars. Everything was delicious! It's February and we sat in the patio room overlooking the river. Have been here several times since our initial visit in 2018. We've been here twice during the Coronavirus - the first time was back in June and we sat outside under an umbrella covered table. We both had the Cobb salad, which were both delicious and our server was wonderful. Today was a different story, so I think this place is hit or miss. There were four of us and we had to wait for a table for lunch, but it was only about 10 min. We were seated inside and the tables were well distanced. However, the music was blaring so loud, we could barely hear each other talk. Our food - two chicken wraps, two Cobb salads, sweet potato fries - were just passable. Two of my dining companions that had the wraps said they were just "OK" and all of our sweet potato fries were overdone and too heavily seasoned. They were served with some kind of clear liquid in a cup that we had no idea what it was. We dipped a fry into it and it was basically liquid sugar. Very strange. Food is overpriced for what you get. Two Cobb salads, two iced teas, and one order of sweet potato fries was $41!! So with a tip, our lunch was almost $50!! And our service was pretty lousy this time. I have a feeling this young man was new, so I can't fault him for that, but he definitely needed better training. After he delivered our drinks, he didn't come back for about 15 minutes to take our order. We thought he left his shift or something! We looked around and couldn't even find him. He never checked on us during our meal. When he was taking our orders, he was very awkward and nervous. Maybe management can step up their game and provide some more training for these newer servers so they gain the confidence they need. This was the first time dining here for one of my guests and she said she'd never come back. Since we live in the area, we'll give it one more time in the future since like I said, it seems to be hit or miss. And please...turn down the music! Was very impressed with their menu and food! We were in on a Friday night and there was live music from a local artist outside on the patio. The view of the river from the patio added a nice element to the experience, and even when it started raining the evening was enjoyable as the outdoor space was fully covered with heaters. We started with the dynamite shrimp 9/10 and shared two main courses. Their menu was just the right size with a good portion dedicated to their burgers. Is this like the BEST place to sit, chill, eat, drink, and observe the Fox River in McHenry, IL??? Came here after leaving the Volo Museum, this place is great. The patio, the indoor/outdoor seating options the waitress was also wonderful, hate I didn't get her name. She really worked with me to ensure I found a beer that I not only liked but that I was satisfied with. I was quite impressed with the 'Elvis Juice', my hubby had the Gumballhead, on tap, that's big. Then the pours of wine were a wine-lovers dream. They have so much to offer, how do you keep up? I wasn't that hungry so I settled for the cheese sticks. The burger was bomb, which is why I give 3 stars. But the service was absolutely terrible. We walked in and were told it will be a 45min wait mind you there was no line and several open tables (it really wasn't that busy). As we were walking out a gentleman at the bar said him and his friends were about to leave and we could take their spot at the bar. So as we sit down and the bar tender yells at us saying there's a tab open you can't sit here, I could only think it's a bar since when does a tab hold seats. And the guy who had a tab open just said we can take his seats. They were basically rejecting serving us before we even sat down. After we sat down we were told drink specials we all said we would do that, she walked away and never came back with our drinks. 15min later she came back to get our food order so we once again order our drinks and our food. I finished my drink before my food came out. When my food got there, I finished eating without being asked how the food was or without getting a refill on my drink, I wasn't even given a water well I ate. I'm not sure if they had the B team in or they just thought we looked like bad tippers but I was sure to make sure the tip reflected their terrible service. When we requested our bill we let the bar tender know the couple next to us would also like a drink as I could see they were fed up waiting so long as well. They thanked us and did a shot and left. I use to really enjoy DC Cobb's but over time the quality substantially declined. I am finally at the point of accepting this and moving on. It's $20 for a burger and fries (this is the cost with impossible protein unfortunately the vegetarian option that doesn't include a up-charge is dry and tasteless) they could at least provide fresh fries the ones I received were clearly being fried in dirty oil which is unacceptable even at take out restaurants that cost a fraction of the price. read more

I couldn't decide between some delicious salads, Mac & Cheese, or burgers but I wanted to try something that the waitress said would be good. I ordered their Hurricane burger, and wow, it was good. We got up on a Sunday for brunch at D.C. Cobbs and it was worth it. I ordered the vanilla French toast which was just okay. I would ask for some butter and syrup to make them a little richer. The vanilla flavors wasn't very strong. The biscuits and gravy was a hit and adding a little Cholula hot sauce gives it that extra spice. My husband is a simple breakfast person and it was good! The bacon was nice and crispy. Their hashbrowns are also good too! Then I tried the build your own mimosa which was super fun and made a passion fruit pineapple mimosa with some fresh fruit. Then moved to a an Irish Nitro. That is a must order. It's a great way to end your brunch. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere here is warm and inviting. We have some great burger places in McHenry, DC Cobb's is in my top 4...and that is saying something. The food is great and its kept clean. This place can get busy and slow..but that can happen at great restaurants. The staff is friendly and they genuinely seem happy to be there. The main focus though is a great burger, made the may you want with your choices of, bun, beef etc..and fantastic sides. Sweet potato fries are great..not underdone..like some others. Atmosphere and music/music videos were fun too. Might be a little loud for a business meeting..but I've had plenty here with no issues. read more
