The pot roast has great crust and the mushroom gravy has excellent flavor and really compliments the pot roast. The next night I tried the kabob dinner and bowl of chili. Both were great. Today we were in the area and decided to stop in for lunch. It has been a year since we left a review. The dining room is the same and very clean! The person who took our order was really nice and professional as always! I ordered the 1/2 slab of ribs it came with a side salad, a 6" piece of corn on the cob, and fries which I upgraded to the baked potato for $1 more. The baked potato was quartered and a huge potion size so definitely worth the extra $1. The 1/2 slab of ribs had about 7 bones... so you got a decent amount! My husband ordered the Italian beef and added Provolone cheese for 65 cents which was well worth it! I posted a video for each of our food items. Normally don't like giving bad reviews. Hopefully was on off day but I've had many gyro sandwiches. Unfortunately this was not up to par.

Its always a hit or miss here. I got a italian beef . The bun was hard like stale. Not enough beef on it. When i say that its bad because i usually take some off. Im sorry should never have a stale bun for any sandwiches why serve that. Even dipping it in extra au just didn't help. The fries were different then last time too. Didn't care for them. Such a Great place to eat at! Wonderful food too! I prefer casual places to eat. We had a pot roast meal & you get a ton of food! The roast was very tender & full of flavor. 2 huge scoops of mashed potatoes. I am not too good with posting pics & wish I did post a few. Anyway, delicious & though I live in Chicago, I do want to go back here to try different things such as a meat loaf dinner. Plenty of napkins which I luv! My only complaint is this: The veggie mix was not cooked enough. I like them very tender & they were too firm. That is not good for me! My hubby told them about it. Well, I shot my diet to hell. I guess it should not come as a surprise to me - eating at a place called Meat and Potato. But I am a meat and potato kinda guy, so I had to try it. And I'm so glad I did! I had the country bowl, which was pot roast, gravy, crispy onions, and shredded parmesan. On the menu, it is served over a bed of fries, but I tweaked it, and had them serve it over mashed potatoes. I really enjoyed it, and highly recommend swapping out the fries for mashed potatoes. This is a fast-food restaurant, but it is high-quality food. The restaurant was clean, and service was fast and friendly. I will definitely be back (I'll just have to make sure I hit the gym afterwards). read more

Worst gyros I have ever had in my life. Meat is thick chunks of cubes. Then the sauce was just heavily scooped on top. This gyros was completely inedible and met the trash can. Called the shop to voice my displeasure and I was offered a replacement, I told them I will pass as I don't trust food after a complaint. Highly recommend not eating here if a basic gyros cannot be made. read more

Meat and Potatoes is one of my favorite places to suggest when looking for tasty food out. It's not as cheap as some of the other options in the area, but goodness, is it good! I'm partial to their Country Bowl with pot roast, mashed potatoes and onion strings, but you really can't go wrong with this menu. You get a very generous amount of food. For me, a bowl can go for at least two meals-- though I must admit, I could have finished it in one sitting while I was pregnant! I've never dined in, but can say the food is packed well for carryout! It's always nice and warm, even if we're not terribly close to this location. Ordering online can be a challenge, so I'd recommend just ordering your food while there and giving yourself time to wait for it to be prepared. This place is what I would like all food places to be, great food CONSTANTLY. I just moved to McHenry last month and I've eaten here at least SIX times already! The skirt steak and ribs dinners are delicious, and the baked potatoes are massive but I still demolish the whole thing. And don't get me started on their baklava!! It's addictive, to put it mildly. Saw their sign from the outside and it grabbed our attention to come in. It's a nicely decorated small space. We went in and ordered the chicken fajita press and chicken tenders with fries and a side of mashed potatoes. The food was overall decent, pretty much what you would expect. I really liked my chicken but found the sandwich a little difficult to eat. My boyfriend got the chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and fries. Their fries aren't anything to rave about, mashed potato was okay (tasted like what you would get in the school cafeteria),but chicken tenders were pretty good. This is a rare gem. I recently moved to the area, and even more recently to a new job in the area. That said, I needed a plan b when I forgot my lunch at home. M&P E more than filled the bill. I had a pulled pork bowl for lunch, and liked it so much, I grabbed a Buffalo bowl for my wife (that was great) later the same day...and two orders of curds. I am sorry to tell that frozen yogurt chain with the butter burgers (can I say the name here? Lol) that their cheese curds are now dead to me. It has been a good ride, but there is a new cheesy/crunchy/fried one in my life. As for you, M&P E, your food was not only great but your level of customer service was exemplary. This is a cheat meal for me but it's simply filling, amazing and worth every penny. It's delicious. It's very hard to finish so my dogs and I eat like royalty! But it really is so flavorful. The gravy is out of this world, the mashed potatoes are smooth and have a flavor themselves that mix really well with the gravy. I asked for extra gravy ( I have to say that if you don't like salt you might be turned off by the gravy and the mashed potatoes but I am a salt fanatic) so I did use the gravy on the steamed vegetables (bad I know!) But omg delicious. My husband loved his order as well. My children even loved their kid menu. I really hope this place does well. They told my husband they will start delivery soon as well. These portions are HUGE. I honestly could never finish this whole meal myself. My children are very picky eaters due to having Autism, they have very specific needs. They ate everything. Left me preface this with the fact I have been eating at the one in Carpentersville since they opened. AMAZING STAFF...AMAZINGLY CLEAN AND GREAT FOOD. Because of a family emergent situation, I have been going out to Richmond area so stopped here twice...AND IF I DID NOT HAVE TO GO THIS WAY, WOULD NOT STOP HERE AGAIN. I really REALLY like their food. Their 3 grilled cheese is amazing. Their garlic parmesian is great. BUT THAT SAID - they do not have senior discounts - which is sad. AND - I still like a few fries with certain menu items. Being diabetic I totally limit how much potato I eat. I find it SAD that I am willing to pay for a full order of fries - any of them - and just get a partial order. I do this all over town at all the restaurants we go to. BUT here the young girl that took my order, asked an older woman who barely addressed me and when she did she was just "sorry no, they are premeasured and they would just throw them away anyway." Not great attitude and NOT GREAT PRACTICE. TALK ABOUT WASTEFUL. with hungry people I find the waste of food to be unacceptable so I now find it hard to want to eat here.
