Italian beef
Giovanni C.

The beef was juicy and tender and the bread used had a garlic seasoning added to it which was a huge difference maker in setting it apart from other beefs. Very solid Italian beef, the fries are well seasoned as well. The powdered lemon cookies were crunchy and pretty good. The hazelnut shake was also enjoyable. Paid about $26 for everything. This definitely seems to be a local gem here in Woodstock

I have been driving past this place for years and I finally stopped by because I do like my Italian beef sandwich's dipped with hot peppers. The place is basically like a Chicago burger and dog drive through/sit down fast food restaurant with some ice cream options. It's always amazed me that no pictures of the beef sandwich's were on yelp until about a year ago when beef is in the name. I have always wanted to stop for a beef sandwich so I stopped to take one home for dinner later and since I get my beef sandwich's dipped with hot peppers it will be in the same condition hours later, sloppy wet just like the time it was made so it will be ok. My beef was made as per my order dipped with hot gardenia peppers which is messy but the way I like them. The hot peppers came on the side which I didn't care for because I like them on the sandwich with all the flavors blending into the beef. I thought the beef sandwich was good but I thought the gravy/juice was a little week and not as flavorful as some of the better places that I have Been to but not bad.

2 Chicago dogs and fries

Ordered the 2 Chicago hot dog and French fry special. Definitely an above average experience. Food was hot fresh and fast. In this area and looking for a Chicago beef and hot dog place, give them a try.

Cauliflower and the waffle looking fries
Abhinav S.

Stopped by here on our way back from Lake Geneva. Sandwiches are decent. The battered cauliflower are really good, try them if you can. They had these unique waffle kind of fries. But it just goes as far as looks, the fries were clearly the frozen kind and were a bit stale. The people who work there were friendly. Simple spot where you can't really go wrong with much. Decent place to clog your arteries

I had a taste for a beef. and this did not disappoint!! The beef was loaded and a good size. The homemade fries were perfect! Clean place. I would definitely eat here again.

According to the menu, the restaurant has been open since 1991. The building is brightly painted, it is clean and attractive. The dining room is also brightly decorated, clean and inviting. I ordered a gyro on the recommendation of the counter guy. The sandwich was a little more than I usually like to spend for lunch, but it was larger than I'm used to seeing for a gyro. The meat was mildly spiced to a level that is acceptable to my sensitive palette. (I cannot tolerate overly spicy foods.) The onions were sharp, I thought the tomato was missing but several tomato slices were stacked up on the other end of the sandwich. I ordered it to go, and it was packaged in a foil wrapper and bagged with napkins. Next time I'm in Woodstock, I'll be back to the Beef Village to sample something else!

I had a gyros and my wife had a corned beef sandwich with cheese. Both were very good. Good service, good food, at reasonable prices.

The only thing that made me more sick to my stomach was the price. Burger tasted like school lunch post Michelle Obama.

Server was willing to do separate checks for a group of 16. Decent atmosphere. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but it was super convenient before a show.

We had a group of 30+ people and were initially seated in the front corner, right next to the entrance, where people were constantly walking through our group. We thought moving to the high-top tables would make more sense since they would allow people to stand, eat, and socialize. However, I believe the owner told us we couldn't use those tables because he needed them for his dinner rush and suggested that we "go around the bar." That comment immediately made me feel like our large group wasn't considered valuable because we apparently weren't going to fit into the establishment's preferred setup. Honestly, I wanted to leave at that point, but I stayed because I was there to celebrate my coworker. What establishment acts rude to potential paying customers? Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn't improve. The establishment simply did not seem prepared to accommodate a group of our size. There appeared to be only two servers and one bartender trying to handle 30+ people. The servers were clearly overwhelmed, but unfortunately that also came across as rude and unwelcoming at times. We understand that they don't take reservations, and that's ultimately on us for choosing this location for such a large gathering. However, if you know you have a large crowd coming in, you would hope there would at least be some ability to accommodate the group. The food was mediocre at best, and we weren't even able to order everything we wanted because there was rarely anyone available to actually take our orders. I really wanted this to be a nice place to celebrate an important milestone for our coworker, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing from beginning to end. I would not recommend this establishment for large groups or celebrations

Everything was great about this place and the hype is legit!…read more First off, the parking is great! A nice big free lot across the street. No need to find street parking. We walked in on a lazy Sunday post the lunch rush, around 2. I forget what burger I got, but it did not disappoint. Everyone who has said I need to check it out was tight. It was very good. The burger was flavorful and juicy. The toppings were fresh and the fries were tasty. Everything was great! I returned with my burger club and most guys liked it however, some got the burgers that had so much going on that your taste buds are in over drive. Just stick with a build your own burger and avoid all the crazy toppings and you'll love it.

The restaurant is in the heart of downtown McHenry and next to the river. I highly recommend sitting in the enclosed patio. It's spacious, full of tvs, and has a nice view of the river. You can tell based on the menu and confirmed by our server, burgers are their thing. All kinds including beef, bison, chicken, turkey, veggie and fish, some choices are an up charge. The burgers come with a side, some have an up charge. Our server mentioned everything is made in-house. I feel it's a rarity of restaurants to made their food in-house so it made me excited for the food. Everything is reasonably price. I opted for the BFM burger and pickle chips ($2 up charge). The burger was juicy and well cooked. Their burgers are 1/2 lbs so it was big. The pickle chips were crunchy and really good. Portion was huge and worth the up charge. My lunch partner chose Cajun fries and they were crispy and flavorful. Our server was great! She was so nice! One negative, they allow dogs and many people brought their dogs. Since the space is enclosed, I did not like all the dogs while I was eating. It was tricky leaving since the hostess stand is located in the tight entrance and there was a dog right in the doorway. My lunch companion is deathly allergic to dogs. Luckily this dog owner was considerate and moved their dog so we could pass. Other than all the dogs, we enjoyed our meal and would come again.
