Everything was great about this place and the hype is legit! First off, the parking is great! A nice big free lot across the street. No need to find street parking. We walked in on a lazy Sunday post the lunch rush, around 2. I forget what burger I got, but it did not disappoint. Everyone who has said I need to check it out was tight. It was very good. The burger was flavorful and juicy. The toppings were fresh and the fries were tasty. Everything was great! I returned with my burger club and most guys liked it however, some got the burgers that had so much going on that your taste buds are in over drive. Just stick with a build your own burger and avoid all the crazy toppings and you'll love it. read more

We were in the area strawberry picking and wanted to find a local place for lunch. Based on Google reviews, we chose DC Cobb's. I'm glad we didn't skip this place based on the Yelp reviews. The restaurant is in the heart of downtown McHenry and next to the river. I highly recommend sitting in the enclosed patio. It's spacious, full of tvs, and has a nice view of the river. You can tell based on the menu and confirmed by our server, burgers are their thing. All kinds including beef, bison, chicken, turkey, veggie and fish, some choices are an up charge. The burgers come with a side, some have an up charge. Our server mentioned everything is made in-house. I feel it's a rarity of restaurants to made their food in-house so it made me excited for the food. Everything is reasonably price. I opted for the BFM burger and pickle chips ($2 up charge). The burger was juicy and well cooked. Their burgers are 1/2 lbs so it was big. The pickle chips were crunchy and really good. Portion was huge and worth the up charge. My lunch partner chose Cajun fries and they were crispy and flavorful. Our server was great! She was so nice! One negative, they allow dogs and many people brought their dogs. Since the space is enclosed, I did not like all the dogs while I was eating. It was tricky leaving since the hostess stand is located in the tight entrance and there was a dog right in the doorway. My lunch companion is deathly allergic to dogs. Luckily this dog owner was considerate and moved their dog so we could pass. Other than all the dogs, we enjoyed our meal and would come again. read more

Believe it or not, we came back again on Thursday night. My son is a band teacher in the area, and this was concert week. Thursday night was trivia night, and the vibe was still great. Shout out to our server, Lisa, who gave us the absolute BEST service! I built my own burger this time and went with the grass fed beef. It still needed more seasoning, to my taste, but overall, this was definitely a five star meal. The sweet potato fries my son ordered honestly pushed it into five star territory for me. The fries were thick cut and fresh, with a sweet dip that was divine. read more

Great food and have a lot of vegetarian friendly options. Also their drinks are delicious.

Awesome seasonal specials, a huge bar menu, and great ambiance right on the Fox River!! The staff is always prompt and friendly!

I have to say we haven't been to Cobbs in a while, but we will be back soon. Our server Lisa was amazing, friendly and quick with anything we needed. The food was amazing, so tasty and came to the table super fast! We sat in the heated patio which has a great ambiance!! Do yourself a favor go give this place a try their specialty burgers are honestly some of the most delicious I have ever had! This seems like it is probably a pretty neat place on the right night. Stunning location right on the river, beautiful main floor patio space and outdoor balcony on the 2nd floor. We visited on a Monday evening, so the place was understandably slow. The band that was there for cinco de mayo was just packing up. Our waiter was welcoming and seemed eager - even with it being so late. He let us know that we had about an hour until the kitchen closed and got in a round of drinks and our food in quickly. Exactly what I'd expect for a slow night, but now always what you get. The margaritas a few in our party got were exceptional (their review). Our server let us know they are so popular they batch make their margs and put them in kegs to serve on tap. Our apps were great. The Totchos were SO tasty - crispy tots and loaded with toppings. The gooey cheese on top was delicious. The fried pickles were okay. Not exceptionally crispy but they were flavorful. Overall a great experience, good food, great location, great service. Would love to return on a busier night to experience the difference! read more

I dont know why this place has only 4.1 stars its really good fresh food I got the wedge salad eorh grilled chicken the portion was very generous perfectly cooked not dried out. My finance got the grilled choked sandwich it was very large portion and juicy. Loved the indoor patio to look over the river. The service was amazing amd frinedly. I forgot to take pics of food. read more

Entire inside and waterside patio was packed so we sat in the sidewalk seats- good people watching. The strawberry lemonade was a hit! Burger was great and the sweet potato fries were some of the best I have had. Servers were friendly. Will definitely be back! read more

Rude hostess lectured us from the door to our table about their reservation policy (After 15 minutes they give your table to another party) literally repeated herself three times. Only catch, Reservation for 5:00, received a text at 5:12 reservation cancelled. Seated and ordered drinks by 5:17 at another table. The place was not busy and the table we specifically asked for (to accommodate a blind person) was given to another party who had already their drinks in hand. I can understand a crowd waiting at the door and standing room only at the bar. Equally rude waitress mocked us for ordering fish fry for two (it's Friday) extra cole slaw, coke and a tap beer. She tried to take our plates away without asking. Seems as though they were trying to hustle us out the door. Success! We departed before 6:00 short $60 never to return. read more

Fried pickles you get a decent amount for $10 which is awesome, but the flavor is bland. The cheese curds you get a very small amount and they are also bland. The matcha lemonade was amazing though!!! The bartender was very nice. The music is also pretty slow....... It is Sunday but I did expect more for the weekend. The place is clean and they have a cute outdoor area open In the summer. read more

We ate here with a total of 8 at our table on a recent Saturday night. Our server was great and the food was really good. D.C. Cobbs serves your typical American bar food - burgers, pulled pork, wraps etc. and they do it very well! We've never been here before but we'll gladly return when in the area. read more

We had a reservation and they sat us early. The servers were very kind. The atmosphere was like an elevated sports bar. It had big TVs playing different games. The food was pretty good. The sweet potato fries were delicious and served with a cinnamon butter. The burger was very juicy. I thought the imprint on the brioche bun was a nice touch. The aperol spritz was also tasty. read more

Went there had 4 different appetizers(Italian beef egg rolls, fried pickles, buffalo cauliflower and pretzel rolls) and 2 different types of burgers(The BMF and your basic cheeseburger). The food was cooked to order and everyone enjoyed it. The service was very good, but this place gets a little noisy. I recommend D.C.Cobb's! read more

*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW still not a celiac safe place :/ they do not have a dedicated fryer (so no tots, fries, nachos, etc.), nor a dedicated spot to warm up the GF tortillas or buns. However, if you are just GF but not celiac, they have some great options! I originally ordered a burger but was told they were out of GF buns, so I switched to a wrap. I asked about how they heated them up, and to avoid CC they said it'd be best to take it cold. I got the southwest - no tortilla strips, sub fried for grilled chicken. it was good but I didn't feel great afterwards. read more

We were playing a sold-out show at the fine Vixen Theatre next door and the folks there got our pre-show comestibles from DC Cobbs. I ordered a Wedge salad. Simple, right? It was thoroughly excellent. Wife chose a Chicken wrap and she replied the same. The boys in the band (we have 8 guys plus a 5 man crew) ordered a wide variety of things, and the green room was totally silent (a sure sign the dig-in was going well). If the food is crap, it is the source of much discourse. McHenry is a distinct cruise from Stately Breakwind Manor, so we won't be dropping by Cobb's for a casual bite. But if it was closer, I believe DC Cobbs would be in the top running. read more

I've been here a couple times and have always enjoyed my food - my personal favorite is the D.C. Cobb burger! Ooof I needed a walk after eating at this place, the portions are huge and worth the price. Def wish I split a meal with someone haha! I was a little confused by the burger menu, but everything in the description is included with the meat. So for example, I got the Peasly and it was not a chorizo sandwich patty but it was chorizo in addition to the beef burger patty! It was so yummy, I'd order it again! Fries were nice and crispy. Def pub vibes! Servers were kind and patient with our large party of 9. We were able to be seated so fast I was shocked! read more

I had the Harts Italian Beef sandwich. I've had it three different times and it was always very good. I've also had a burger and it was delicious as well. They have a nicely diverse menu. I also loved their Cobbs Logger. A Lager beer (5.5%). One of the best restaurant micro brews I've had. I will be back and highly recommend this place. read more

Prices seemed high and they push the buffalo burgers, which could be interpreted as their beef burgers aren't great, and they are not. I tried their burgers and they were just so so. Nothing really notable about this place other than they have nice seasonal seating by the river outside, with open air inside, but that means bees and flys inside too. read more

My wife and I were there on Friday July 3rd at noon. We sat at the bar and had shit service from the bartender Jackie J. It seems like she was more attentive and pleasant to the people that seemed to be regulars. I love McHenry and I like DC Cobbs but it seems like anytime we sit at the bar the service is horrible. We also go to the East Dundee location and I would give them a 10. read more

Food- is good, but it's over prize. Service- very poor. However Management came and speak to us & make sure we are doing okay. Thank you for making us welcome. No acknowledgement, nor friendly- from our server, with long blue top, black hair. Only one girl- that did the magic, short blond hair, wearing pink today, Her name is Kamryn, thank you so much! By the way we are visiting from California. Thank you for making our visit better, Kamryn & management. Today is 11/16 @ 19:53pm Our server was very blunt. And chat a lot instead of taking good care, as checking on us. When, I believe her friends came? Service was quick to them. Ambiance- is pretty cool bar. DJ- @ 10:00pm at weekend. MichaleFranckie was the best DJ ever. Thank you for the good times! read more

The 5th restaurant we called after leaving the winterfest in Lake Geneva and we had a reasonable wait for 25 minutes. We got old fashioned, beer and lemonade for the kids. The rock shrimp appetizer was really good and the spinach artichoke dip was pretty standard. We all had burgers, the son had bison, daughter got chicken, I had the impossible burger and hubby had the black bean. Everything and the sides were delicious. Tater tots, hung curd, max and. Cheese and truffle fries. The tiramisu cheesecake for dessert was delicious as well. The heaters kept us warm, the bathrooms Were clean and the service was quick. Will certainly come back! read more

Jennie was a great server. She introduced us to new beers and was very attentive. Service and ambiance was perfect!

I will start off by saying that I'm not one that typically writes a comment, but I felt compelled to do so tonight. I ordered carry-out and I was notified by text that my order was ready about 10 minutes earlier than I expected. When I arrived at the restaurant, they informed me that it would still be about 10 more minutes. After waiting a while, and a little confused, I asked the hostess why did I receive a text that my order was ready about 25 minutes ago? After checking on my order, the manager than came out and apologized that my order was given to someone else. He then proceeded to not charge me for the order because of the mix-up. I will definitely be coming back; this is a great way to run a business and take care of your customers. By the way, our dinner was amazing! read more

Had an okay experience here at DC Cobbs! The restaurant is located in small downtown McHenry. It looked cute from the outside and even has an outdoor patio on top of the restaurant. We didn't have reservations and came in on a Saturday around 6:30ish and were seated immediately. Our server was really sweet and friendly, but we felt super rushed; she didn't give us a lot of time and came frequently to get our orders and clean up. The food was alright - it was nothing special or something I'd necessarily recommend to others. They are known for their burgers, which my boyfriend and I both didn't get so I'm sure their burgers are the star of the show. I got the Asiago chicken wrap and added chipotle mayo. My boyfriend got the crispy chicken wrap but replaced mayo with Buffalo sauce. Both of our wraps were very ordinary and nothing crazy. They were around $15 each, which we felt were overpriced for the size and quality of the wraps. My margarita came with 3 alcohols but you'd never tell. Both our cocktails tasted like there was no liquor in it! Which is good or bad depending how you look at it ;) The fried pickles were yummy, but definitely more on the flimsier side with thinner breading. I wouldn't come here again for dinner, but would be open to come back for some drinks and apps with friends. I'd utilize their bar more than actually dining in! read more

Burgers are cooked to order and delicious. Pickle chips are recommended as well as the cheese curds.

A diner with a hip and casual feel. D.C. Cobb's is known for having tons of beers and burgers, and it has a few locations. It includes this one in McHenry. Even though it has a few plant based choices among these burgers, it's expensive burgers. There's also some other sandwiches. Because we were pretty hungry we got something big. It has a very big burger menu. There's like 15 or more types. Each of these is named for a celebrity or local attraction. They also have the option of making your own burgers with any of the many toppings. For the drinks, they usually have some kind of special going on. They last time had $4 Long Island Iced Teas. Even though these were kind of watery they still had quite a punch. The burgers are big, but pricy unfortunately. It's $14 for only a regular burger. Then add a few more dollars to make this an Impossible Burger, which comes with a side. Good stuff but not worth quite as much. They also charge for any toppings besides just the basic lettuce, onions, and tomatoes, so this will get even more pricy. Can't complain of anything about the taste of the drinks and food. It certainly was very good with all that but this was just too expensive for some plant based burgers honestly. These also will cost you even more if getting extra toppings. read more
