We went for dinner. The atmosphere is loud and happy. There was a few parties going on. The pizza was delicious and what we expected. This is a fun location with a good menu. I enjoy supporting a local place with good food. Our server was very attentive. Definitely a good experience

I can't say enough wonderful things about the Foxhole!! The new owners have really turned this place around!! The food is delicious and so fresh. They had not only alcoholic beverages but also THC infused drinks for the people who are California sober like myself. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. The decor is so spot with framed pictures of very elegant fox's on the wall and I love that they kept the original mural on the back wall! So do yourself a favor and give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!

Lovely underground Pub! The entrance is down several stairs, and when we went the seating was open so we sat at the bar to have drinks and some lunch: and when you go you must have the fried curds !! They're fresh, not frozen like a lot of other places, and are soooo good, crispy outside and gooey cheesy inside. I do love cheese, and I enjoyed these so much I had to order another portion D. had a 12" deep pan pizza with all the toppings I can't eat, like pepperoni and jalapeños, so I didn't taste it, but the crust was crispy-crunchy, even the bottom was crispy. It looked so delicious ; if we're up this way again I'll have to have more fried curds but I think a pizza just might have to find it's way to me. The barkeep was really nice, friendly, helpful - I'm sorry I didn't ask her name, since I like to mention people that are great - and made a very good Old Fashion while D. had a large Peroni beer. The pub was all festive for the holidays, several groups of people looked quite happy, celebrating and enjoying themselves. They were having a pub crawl (600 tickets already sold!) later that evening, followed by karaoke. We already had plans with our friends we're staying with, otherwise we would have joined them. Next time, folks We had a great time at the Foxhole Pub !

Dive-ish, pub located under ground with high tops seating, bar seating and regular tables. Service was good, standard and of course friendly. Everything we ordered was excellent. Classic Buffalo wings were nicely fried with a wonderful tangy buffalo sauce. Fries were crispy with a good amount of saltiness but the only pit, there wasn't enough. We definitely needed 2 orders of fries. Our table really enjoyed the Fox Hole classic pizza. Just a classic pizza done right. We also came here during happy hour on a Saturday so some of the drinks were half off.

Really enjoyed my brief time here. Nice and underground speakeasy style. Old school pizza smell aromas throughout. Highly cozy. Friendly staff. Interesting mural paintings. Should have ate the pizza. Rare Goose Island beer on tap

loved that they framed the original painting on the wall

First time i visited was shortly after opening. The ac was not working so it was hot, server rushed us out and pizza was wrong (had red sauce not the olive oil ordered). I was underwhelmed to say the least. Gave them a second chance today and was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. pizza was done as requested and was really tasty - love the crust! pretzel bites with beer cheese were yummy too! The ac made it pleasantly cool on this very hot day. Once again we got rushed out the door (again not crowded!?). Other than that - really good meal. Will be back!

Burnt "deep dish" pizza was regular pizza with large crust. Not worth $40ish. Not going back.

Glad Fox Hole reopened! Newly remodeled with what I think is one of the best pizzas in McHenry. Service was good and love the Bruschetta!

Almost no one there, presumably because of the early hour. Have walked by at night and usually pretty busy on weekends at least. That said it was Sunday at 4:30. Ambiance was nice. We sat outside on their patio by the fans and temps were a relief after the dire temps in previous days. Food: wish I'd taken a picture before we ate some. It was presented nicely. We had the Asian chicken wraps. It came with four almost, kinda sorta, wilted romaine leaves that were hard to wrap around anything, so that was interesting. I woulda preferred a larger colder iceberg lettuce. Room temperature white rice in the middle of small cube chicken, also room temp? with a teriyaki like sauce on it. On the side and in small containers, it had pickled onions and cucumbers, which were wonderful. Some sort of sweet /hot sauce I'm guessing and radishes with crispy wonton strips. I liked it all ok taste wise, but thought the rice and chicken could have been warm to hot. We also had each a flavored lime mule which was very good for $10 each. Not a lot of alcohol but tasty. Had cold things been cold and hot things been at least warm, it would have been much better. My friend wasn't too hungry or impressed so I took most of it home and warned it up and that is what you see in the picture. It was way more appealing and I just ditched the sorta wilty romaine. The menu doesn't know what it wants to be. It's mostly bar food, some Asian influences and some Greek, thrown in with 3-4salads. I almost like it better when they first opened with a very limited and kinda pricy small bites menu, but I suppose in McHenry you gotta have basic bar food, so I get it. I just wish there were an upscale pub type menu for something different. But that's just me.

I'm glad we didn't skip this place based on the Yelp reviews. The restaurant is in the heart of downtown McHenry and next to the river. I highly recommend sitting in the enclosed patio. It's spacious, full of tvs, and has a nice view of the river. You can tell based on the menu and confirmed by our server, burgers are their thing. All kinds including beef, bison, chicken, turkey, veggie and fish, some choices are an up charge. The burgers come with a side, some have an up charge. Our server mentioned everything is made in-house. I feel it's a rarity of restaurants to made their food in-house so it made me excited for the food. Everything is reasonably price. I opted for the BFM burger and pickle chips ($2 up charge). The burger was juicy and well cooked. Their burgers are 1/2 lbs so it was big. The pickle chips were crunchy and really good. Portion was huge and worth the up charge. My lunch partner chose Cajun fries and they were crispy and flavorful. Our server was great! She was so nice! One negative, they allow dogs and many people brought their dogs. Since the space is enclosed, I did not like all the dogs while I was eating. It was tricky leaving since the hostess stand is located in the tight entrance and there was a dog right in the doorway. My lunch companion is deathly allergic to dogs. Luckily this dog owner was considerate and moved their dog so we could pass. Other than all the dogs, we enjoyed our meal and would come again.

We wanted so much to love this place. It doesn't hold a candle to the Chicago location…read more the pizza was just ok. Not very flavorful and The crust was not the same as the what we remember - The Italian Beef Rolls were not very good. Again, Not much flavor to them and they were burnt. High Expectations - No Satisfaction…read more I've been to Leona's in Chicago many times so was excited to have one in Mchenry. one of those you know what to expect, experience, quality, and consistency. Anything but.... We orders online, and order ready in 26 minutes not bad! Upon arriving I noticed a large number of people with arms crossed and not happy faces. I walked up to the bar area, advised of my order... they go check. "I'm we just got your order in, so it's going to be 15 minutes." No apologies, No explanation. "Oh we don't have fried calamari, I don't know why it let you order that." Then silence... no explanation, and I had to ask if that would be refunded?!? They asked for my online receipt and refunded in cash. I along with many others were asked what we ordered, our order numbers by various staff. Again, I didn't hear any apologies, any explanations, simply walking around like this is normal day to day business. Now it's new to the area, I know it's been open a few days, but a simple apology for the inconvenience makes a difference when you want customers to return. The 4th employee that asked me for my order number and name, walked back to the kitchen and shouted the numbers he received by waiting patrons, then I can see and hear an older gentlemen saying the name and order number literally same time and saying they haven't called that they arrived. Um your staff just asked the customers up front for the numbers as they are present. At this point I went back there to clearly identify my order was present. Let alone there's no outside curbside parking nor process to alert Leona's you are waiting. Finally received my pizza (no calamari) and no apologies, no explanation. At this point I'm hopeful the pizza is at least good considering it's a large chain known for consistency and quality... welp look at the pictures of the pizza, doughy, inconsistent, messy, and random full basil leave. I hope they get it together or they will close down quickly like everyone business in that location. Poor training, poor communication skills, poor leadership. One and done for me. Restaurant was clean yet I hope it would be considering they just opened, also noticed the host welcomed people by "hi here's the menu (point) grab and seat and you can come back up when your ready." I mean local dive bar, sure but wow, disappointing on many levels, staff, communication, leadership, and food.
