We had my daughters wedding party recently at Galati's with about 100 attendees. We ordered the highest tier in both food and bar drink packages. We had both bars open with a DJ present. They allowed complete customization. The appetizers were perfect for happy hour before dinner which by choice looked over the bar with TV's during the baseball game. Dinner was set up perfectly with salad, great bread, specifically chosen wine on the tables. Then for food pastas, meat choices of chicken, sausages and meatballs with full desert. They even went to the extra effort of making multiple special meals for our gluten free friends. The staff, waitresses,,bartenders were friendly and courteous. Ownership was present to oversee and verify everything was going great. Between the high tier food, drinks, special service the entire cost was almost 1/2 of similar pricing from some of the banquet halls. Do not overlook this option! Great restaurant and bar. Nice place to watch a game or hang out. Nice atmosphere and nice place as a woman to get dinner if she's alone. There is a restaurant to the left side of the entrance and a banquet room upstairs. Food is always delicious. Today a girlfriend of mine split the Philly Steak Sandwich special. We stopped in on a Thursday night and had a solid experience overall. It was pretty quiet in the bar area, which made for a relaxed atmosphere, and a good spot to unwind. We sat at the bar and service was a little on the slower side, but nothing that took away from the night. I had the beef sandwich, and my wife went with the burger...both were really good. They also have a Thursday burger special for $10, which is a great deal and definitely worth checking out. The draft beer is always cold, and they've got a strong case for one of the best sports bar setups in McHenry County....plenty of TVs and a great place to catch a game. Overall, it's a dependable go-to spot whether you're meeting up with a big group, hanging out with friends, or just can't decide where to go for dinner. No option for zero stars. The pizza I ordered did not arrive until 45 minutes after the estimated arrival time and after I called to find out where it was. You like super average to sub-par food and service? This is your place! We've been here many times and I'm officially done. The food here is hit and miss... the pastas and pizzas are decent. Everything else, say a prayer. Say a prayer that it even gets to you in a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps your server will greet you before sitting for 5 minutes, and maybe they will have a smile on their face. Ours didn't, once again. There was no music or tv, just strangers listening to each other talk. Where is the management? Where is the ownership? Is this really just a place to get drunk on the other side? Since I started coming to Galati's a few years ago, it has become a central meeting point and tradition for our family when we're in town from CA. Vince, Katie and their team treat us like family and always greet us with a smile on their face. My parents live near here and the they know all the bartenders and servers. The bar is immaculate, with literally 15 or so TVs with a big screen and they always have the game turned on. One time, we asked Vince if we could put my brother in law's D3 football game on one of the TVs and the bartender climbed on the bar to allow me to plug in my laptop. The pizza is always incredible and make sure you ask for bread with your order. It's homemade and reheats perfectly. Thank you, Vince. We went here for a graduation party. My daughter has Celiac Disease which requires her to eat gluten free. She also has to be cautious of cross contamination. I called ahead and the manager confirmed their gluten free pizza is cooked in its own pan. The server was very nice and brought her pizza directly to her, she had her own spatula too. I enjoy Galaţi's as both a bar to have a nice beer at and relax, and as a family restaurant that my kids love. The food is a bit over priced but it's all really good. I'm a fan of the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The portion is huge, and I like to share it along with the bruschetta appetizer. My kids are always down to order the kids pizza and chicken fingers. The service is always great at the bar and at the tables. The people are very friendly here. It's a great place to bring a group or you can even rent out a prive area that is upstairs: so this place can pretty accommodate any type of group or mood that you're in. read more

Galati's Hideaway has been a staple of the Cary area for years. They make a good pasta and pizza. Some of my favorites include baked mostaccioli, and chicken piccata. They provide generous portions. Always leave with leftovers for a second meal. read more

We host a large party over the Fourth of July weekend each year, but this year I am super pregnant and unable to do most of the cooking I usually do. Galatis worked with me, provided amazing service and my guest raved about it! (I almost lied and took the credit, but I wanted them to know where they could get more in the future!). Thankful for the staff for working with me and making this party so easy to host this year! Highly recommend their chicken kabobs and the spinach Rotolo off the catering menu for large groups. I would like to say I never knew this place existed, it's kinda tucked away and not very noticeable. We saw a post on fb saying their burgers were $6 today and decided why not get a cheaper dinner tonight, support local and try new places. If we like it we know where we can go again and if we don't it wasn't too much of a bust. Spoiler alert, we liked it and will be back to try more. 5/5 for food, the burgers were big, delicious and full of flavor. We ordered the hangover burger which the egg was nice and runny. The caprese salad had fresh mozz and tomatoes slices on it. My only small issue was I wish there was a tad more basil to it, or bigger pieces, however it was very good overall, tonight we didn't do anything extravagant we just ordered a simple salad and burger which left me excited try more off their menu. Since there isn't too much service going on during COVID ill just rate the call in. It was easy and painless, the person who picked up even read back our order to us to make sure it was all good. We paid over the phone as to limit contact. However, one has to go inside to get their food. The person inside was not wearing gloves or a mask, but when the food came out she had gloves on and her shirt pulled up over her face in a quasi mask. read more

Galati's Hideaway is a spot we chose for for a family event and they did a great job from beginning to end; good food, good service, good venue. We had about 30 people for a luncheon and they set us up in one of the upstairs rooms. The space was perfect, not too cramped but also snug. The wait staff went right to work taking drink orders and informing us how the food would be served. I think it helped that we were there on a weekday. It wasn't busy at all, but the staff were also all pros. Everything was served mini-buffet style and there was ample amount of food for our group. Needless to sat that no one left hungry. The accommodations were perfect as well: sizable room and restroom access just around the corner. What more could you ask for?! I always feel that if a restaurant can handle a big(ger) event well then they probably can handle normal dining without breaking a sweat. Galati's did wonderfully with our event and I have no doubt their normal service is on point. read more

Went here on one of the coldest nights of the year, and it was still pretty full inside! Illinois does not care about bad weather . Service was great, we sat at the bar and chatted up the bartenders. Wine was not the best, but the beer was good. Husband got the bruschetta burger and I got just a regular one. Meat was cooked well but I asked for medium. Fries were just ok. Enjoyed the ambience, lots of TVs - and it appears to have an upstairs area for games maybe? Will come back to try another dish and another drink! read more

I've been to Galati's when they were open at their prior location (where 750 Cucina rustica is now) a couple times. I decided to give this location and try. Galati's is conveniently located Northwest highway near the Jewel with ample parking. The bartender was very personable and the fried zucchini was fresh and delicious. However the chicken piccata was just ok (instead go to Cucina Bella in Algonquin for that) and they give you soup or salad. The ambience was nice but more of a sports type bar and the pricing was fairly reasonable and they offered large portions. I will be back and I will definitely order the fried zucchini again. I will have to try something else for my main course. I give this place 3.75 stars. read more

Let's start with service. Never serve a drink without a coaster or knapkin. Never serve an entree virtually on top of the appetizer. Never serve a bowl of mussels (they come in either marinara sauce or olive oil & garlic sauce) without (1) asking if the customer would like bread (especially as we found out later it's offered without charge), and (2) without a dish for the seafood shells. Next, the food. Don't serve a bowl of minestrone soup that only has 4 kidneys beans. Soup should not be an excuse for leftover vegetables in a beef broth, or at least if it is, make sure to do it properly. If you put broccoli ot cauliflower florets in a soup that sits they dissolve into mush. If you put fresh tomato in a soup without parboiling & peeling it the skin is inedible, and please, please cut your vegetable pieces to size. The ambiance was fine as we arrived late Saturday afternoon during NFL playoffs and opted to sit in the bar area. Plenty of noise and TV screens...no worries. The price was reasonable, midrange for this location. All in all, teach the service staff a few basics. Otherwise, not a bad place for a quick bite tavern style. read more

Excellent pizza and salad takeout experience. My wife and I really enjoy thin crust pizza. We ordered a 16" thin crust pizza with 3 ingredients, and two more ingredients done in a 50/50 style. We also ordered a dinner salad to share. The pizza was excellent. The crust was one of the best thin crusts we've had. The sauce was good and toppings both generous and done well. Overall, a very delicious pizza. The salad was good. Tomatoes and extras were good. Everything was cooked perfectly, made well, and ready exactly when promised. We went for the first time tonight. I saw an online menu that boasted of a few steak options and some chicken, pork, and steak kabobs options. That sounded great. I was in the mood for steak. Turned out there were no steaks there and no pork kabobs on their restaurant menu. I guess there once was. So my husband got the chicken kabobs and I got the steak kabobs. It arrived and looked perfectly cooked but I quickly realized both of them was in a moat of teriyaki sauce. It wasn't listed as a teriyaki item. I can't have that much sugar - ever. It was saturated and sitting in at least 2mm of sticky sweet sauce. The frustration for me was that there's absolutely no mention that all the kabobs are drowned in the sugary sauce. I'm sure there's a lot of folks who like that sort of thing. But please, list it in the menu so people can at least ask to leave it off. Galaţi's never disappoints. This restaurant has stayed consistent all through Covid and beyond. My favorite menu item is the eggplant Parmesan Sammy. Even though it not on the menu anymore they always make it for me. They have weekly specials! Love their vodka special and half priced pizza. I preface this review with the fact that my fiancé and I like to support local when we can. We have eaten at Galatis 5-6 times during the indoor dining restrictions and each time the service has gotten worse. At first it was a server who couldn't remember (and didn't write down) my drink order (I actually had to go the bar and point it out on them menu after the fourth time) and has escalated to appetizers taking 45 minutes to come out do the kitchen and poor service at the bar. Tonight, it took 5-10 minutes to even get a server to notice us waving and flailing our arms in the air and we eventually just left and went somewhere else because of how terrible the service was and has been. I do recommend getting food, but call it in and pick it up. read more

Ok so I am a VERY picky person when I order food from anywhere. Any little thing will get me to never order from a place again, and Galatis falls into this category. First of all... the food is FANTASTIC. On a scale of 1-10 the food is an Eleven. Beef and sausage combo was to die for. The tortellini pasta.... just like mom used to make. Home made Bread is fresh and melts in your mouth. Home made Italian salad dressing reminds me of Taylor Street in Chicago. Chicken enchilada soup was one of the best I have ever had. With all of that said I explained to the girl on the phone that I was having it delivered to my office and I needed silverware. Guess what they forgot? Even though the food is the best I have had in the 20+ years of living in McHenry County I won't be back because the staff doesn't pay attention to the things that are needed to eat dinner when you are at work. read more
