We went to Kelly's Family Restaurant in Harvard, and the food was good overall. I had the patty melt and fries, which were average, but my wife's Swedish pancakes with lingonberries were the standout--delicious and flavorful. My cousin had the chorizo skillet, which was also very tasty. After sampling all the dishes, I'd say the Swedish pancakes with lingonberries stole the show. Worth a visit for sure! read more

Had breakfast here today. The hash browns on my 89 year old dads plate were burnt. Not brown. Burnt. I had a patty melt that you couldn't kill anymore on the grill it was also way overdone and dry. Even the mashed potatoes were not edible. The server we had was great though. So the food gets a 2 and the service gets at 10. read more

This is going to be a regular spot from now on! We seated ourselves and the server was right on it with coffee and water. It's clean and comfortable inside. The menu is remarkably affordable and offers plenty of options. One of my recent pet peeves at breakfast places is that my potatoes are never hot enough. Not a problem here!! Kelley's is by far my favorite place to eat in the area. I've been going for many years and each time I go it only gets better. The waitresses are friendly and are fully committed to great service. The food is delicious and you can tell it's actually homemade! AND to top it off the owner is the absolute sweetest! I'm only giving two stars because my server was cute and attentive. The country fried steak had soggy breading, was the thinnest I've ever seen and the gravy had three crumbles of sausage in it and tasted like the batter from one of my daughters paper mâché projects that I sprinkled salt and pepper on. The blue specks in my scrambled eggs were a nice touch also. The appetizer sampler platter consisted of hollow mozzarella sticks, under cooked onion rings, a confusing mix of chicken nuggets and a chicken finger with some burnt mushrooms for good measure. The red sauce that came with it, which was also covering my aunt's spaghetti was obviously out of a can. Not even a jar. Thanks to my aunt I'll be forced to endure this food again. Good stick-to-your-ribs food. Have stopped here with family for lunch or dinner many times over the years when traveling to and from Woodstock. Well prepared items. Not fine dining, just good meals. Meat loaf is a little bland but acceptable. The sandwich melts are very good. Chili, in season, warms your insides. Service is above average. Lots of seating, booths and tables. Handicapped access. Specials every day. Seniors meals featured on menu. Lots of regulars inside. If an item is unsatisfactory, no problem to send it back. Cost is usually under $10 per person. read more

Eat here if you want to see what's inside all those giant cans and sacks of mix at GFS. Not one thing appears to be made from scratch. Nachos smothered in canned cheese sauce, rolls individually wrapped like twinkies, cream soups made from powdered mix, mashed potatoes in a nasty brown gravy mix, veg of the day was canned peas, Swiss cheese was cheese food. In the middle of all this farmland sits a family restaurant that serves only reheated processed food to crowds of people who have must have nothing else to choose from. Pass it by if you're passing through. You'll get fresher food at the Golden Arches down the street. read more

I've tried to eat at Kelley's 3 times, each time I wished I had not. My food has been; over cooked, under cooked, or tasteless. Two of the times I returned the food only to get the same messed up meal again. The staff was slow and when I asked to return the meals were hesitant to do so. Three strikes and you are OUT. Not going back until someone new takes over. YUCK. read more

This is one of those restaurants that you should keep on driving by. I had an omelette that was average at best. It was to have cheese in it and it did in the middle but very little. It was more like eating fried eggs than an omelette. Toast was not really toasted just warm. The hash browns were really dry and more like grilled mash potatoes. read more

We are in the middle of moving to Harvard so we stopped in for soup and a sandwich that proved to be very good. The chicken dumpling soup was amazing! Then we visited several other times since then. We were never disappointed. Last week I tried their walleye. It has to be the best walleye I have ever tasted! Pan fried with just the right amount of crispiness! Two large portions too! I have lived in Harvard for over 20 years and we eat at Kelley's on a regular basis. Most often for breakfast and dinner. Apparently loyal customers are not important anymore. Stopped in for a quick lunch yesterday and it will be the last time I set foot in there. I asked for a simple grilled cheese sandwich, fries and cup of soup. Menu indicated the grilled cheese was served on texas toast with a combination of swiss and american cheeses. My sandwich WAS on texas toast with ONE barley melted slice of cheap Kraft american cheese slice. I asked the OWNER if they could please make me a new sandwich. She looked at me like I was from another planet. I showed her the sandwich...even pulled it open to show her the lack of cheese and the fact it wasn't even melted. She saw nothing wrong with the sandwich and her exact words were "What do you expect...its just a grilled cheese sandwich" I asked her if there was swiss cheese on it like the menu indicated and she said no. I asked why and she ignored my question and took my plate into the kitchen. At that point I was DONE. I watched my wife finish her french toast..paid the bill for everything but the grilled cheese and walked out. NEVER TO RETURN! I have worked in the restaurant industry and you do not treat people like this. As the owner she should have been doing what it takes to make it right. After she took my plate in the kitchen she never even attempted to talk to us, apologize or make things right. I regret not taking a picture of the sandwich for the world to see. I guess I expected to be treated right like the loyal customer I have been for the last 20 years. The waitress was very nice and we made sure she knew that she did nothing wrong. Customer service goes a long way and the owner needs some lessons. read more
