Disclosure: I have visited the Czech Stop and Little Czech Bakery (Czech Stop) 10+ times.
Czech Stop is a gas station in West, TX that boasts an amazing Czech bakery and Deli. You can get some amazing kolaches, sandwiches, rolls, and Premium Unleaded in one stop!
My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return)
Atmosphere - It's gas station. No! It's a bakery. It's both! Which means you can make q quick stop or get gas and some treats. Except it really doesn't work that was especially on weekend. What I mean is due to its immense popularity, as stop here is anything but quick. The biggest issue is the parking and sitting in line to get gas. It gets VERY crowded, and maneuvering can be tough. Especially when there see lots of pedestrians. If you need gas, just get in line and BE PATIENT. Don't get too upset if the car in front finishes fueling and decides to run in and get some stuff. Chances are there's no parking. It's busy because it's good. 1/2 Star.
Service - They are used to crowds and do a great job. Workers from behind the counter field your orders, get your name, and take them to the front to check out. Occasionally someone who just wants chips or a coke will slip in line to check out, and the Czech Stop folks do a good job getting them in and out. 1 Star.
Food - Their bread for the rolls are phenomenal. It's so soft and fluffy with as nice barely salty tasty which pairs well with sausage or jalapenos for the adventurous types. They also have such soft, sweet, and creamy kolaches that makes your 50 cent coffee taste like the best Colombian roasts. We also like to buy many kolaches and freeze them. They thaw well and taste good enough reheated. Don't do this for the rolls though. The bread gets hard and tough fast. I'm also not a huge fan of the sausage. It tastes great but the texture can be tough. Again, the key is to eat it FRESH! 1 1/2 Star.
Will I Return? - YES! If it wasn't for the I35 construction and heavy traffic, we would visit Czech Stop on our to AND from Austin. Nowadays, we just hit it up once per trip. It's busy, nut it's also good enough to reward the weary and patient driver. 1 Star.
My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts):
1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm.
1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point.
2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food.
1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return.
Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score. read more
