I stopped by this place coming back into town. I wasn't expecting it to be so busy. The line was literally almost out the door. And even on the gas station side the line was the same way. We entered the main shop, and they only had two employees working. One collecting the orders and one being the cashier. We were probably in line for about 30 mins until somebody else came to assist. They had a lot of choices to pick from. I ordered a regular sausage, jalapeño sausage w/ cheese, and a cinnamon roll. What stole the show for me was the cinnamon roll. I was concerned that it was barely had any frosting on top but it was perfect! I wasn't a fan of the jalapeño sausage but I did like the original plain. Maybe just too much bread for my liking. Czech Stop is a must-stop for me every single time I'm driving between Austin and Dallas. It's basically tradition at this point. For sweet, I love the cream cheese, apple, and cherry. For savory, you can't go wrong with the sausage kolaches. Pro tip: if you ask, they'll warm them up for you, which makes them even better. Even when the line wraps around this legendary little store, the service is impressively fast. The line moves quickly, so you're never waiting as long as it looks. Have been tor his place multiple times over the years on my drive up from Austin to Dallas. It is a must stop. They are inside of a Shell gas station so literally a one stop shop. The kolaches are fresh, soft and yummy. TONS of flavors to choose from. Staff is friendly and fast. The line can get long but don't be discouraged bc it will move fast with the amount of staff they have behind the counter. They also offer sandwiches, desserts, breads and other items to try. They have frozen items as well if you aren't going to eat them right away or want to bulk buy (hint, hint). In term of their kolache, I love the wide varieties of sweet and savory options, but after trying it for the third time can confirm I am not impressed. Hot chubbie spoke to me because that's what they called me in high school. As we continued on our journey, those klobasniks disappeared like David Copperfield. Who doesn't love to stop here while traveling between Dallas and Austin/San Antonio?! The kolaches are delicious and range from savory to tons of sweet ones. My personal favorites are the sweet ones with fruit and cheese. The quality of the bread is fantastic and the fact that it's a Shell gas station is fantastic! A few warnings though, the fruit does not appear to be made in house and is the gelatinous pie filling types. Be careful of the lemon (non kolache), I've had it before and it was wonderful, but this last time it was the first time I've spit something out of my mouth in a long time. Also if it's a busy weekend, people tend to fill their gas tanks and won't move while sitting inside the long line getting kolaches (I had to yell at someone for not moving, wish they'd police this a bit better). A solid stop along the way to Waco, TX. There are two different stores selling the same thing each next to each other. One is smaller inside than the other. The kolaches are great, different than the polish varieties. The dough is fluffy and the right amount of sweetness. They even have savory ones here not just your standard fruit filled ones. The chubbies were good too. The sausage on the inside had a little spicy kick to it. The value is excellent. Not much as for ambiance it's just a convenience store in a shell gas station. We stopped at the Czech Stop because I was looking for an original kolache. We stopped in for Father's Day around 4pm. The store was packed. The parking lot was packed. The store had at least six employees that I could see working hard to accommodate patrons up front. There are three lines to form when in this gas station: 1) Bakery line - it ran around the back of the store and blocked access to the bathrooms and drink coolers. 2) Bakery to register- you wait in this line to check out your baked goods after you select your choices. You'll provide a name to ensure you leave with the correct order. 3) Register- you can start in this line if you don't want baked goods near the front of the store. Everything was fantastic. Service, sales, and food. Unfortunately, I waited in line three with no direction on how to get the baked goods. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store had minimal space to move with so many patrons.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was cold, tired, and overwhelmed while unable to see into the baked goods case because of the two separate bakery lines.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I eventually ended up behind a group of people and realized you can see the bakery case in line 1. We were gently pushed to the next line and eventually ended up at the registers. So, if you don't want to spend an hour in the Czech Stop then join the line at the back of the store for baked goods.
